    Atami exceeded my expectations!

    Although Atami is nearby, this was my first time staying overnight. This time I stayed at Korakuen Hotel, and the large Onsen bath was wonderful—I ended up soaking in it many times. Meals were free, including alcohol, so my family seemed to enjoy it as well. If I may make one request, I would be happy if fresh orange juice or tomato juice were available at breakfast. In any case, it was a great trip and I would like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    A few months ago, I visited the Hotel’s on-site hot bath facility, Fuua, for a day trip and loved it—so this time I decided to stay overnight and enjoy it properly. Since I planned to spend very little time in the Room, I chose the “AQUA SQUARE Courtyard Twin” (no ocean view). I wasn’t expecting much, but when I opened the door, it felt new, clean, and instantly lifted my mood. Towels and bath towels are available at the large public bath, but they’re also provided in the Room. On the other hand, the amenities were about what you’d find at a business Hotel, which was a bit disappointing. There was only a token all-in-one skincare item (the same one was in the large public bath as well, but it had run out), while the men’s toiletries were surprisingly better. Guests can use Fuua once for free per stay, so after check-in I followed Fuua’s website “How to Spend Time at Fuua” model plan (overnight stay version). If you enter the restaurant wearing Fuua’s lounge wear, you can re-enter after your meal—so you can stay until close. The open-air standing bath in the spa is truly outstanding. It’s an infinity-style Onsen experience, and given the location there can’t be many Onsen facilities that can offer something like this. The night view is beautiful too, but if possible I highly recommend going while it’s still light out. The buffet was mainly Japanese-style dishes and was thoughtfully done with fresh vegetables and local ingredients. The freshly fried horse mackerel was fluffy and delicious, and the seasonal Izu & Sagami fair was fun. The Tanna Milk gelato was rich yet refreshing—excellent. The all-you-can-drink selection was also great: both craft beers (Kamome and Kujira) were tasty, especially the fruity Kamome—I went back for seconds. They also had sparkling wine, and sake options included Dassai and Masamune among others. That said, it wasn’t particularly luxurious or flashy overall—and being by the sea, I did wish they would put a bit more effort into items like sashimi—so I understand why some Reviews are less positive. The large panoramic bath in the tower building was spacious with a great view as well; however, it didn’t face sunrise as expected. Instead, we enjoyed a beautiful sunrise from the restaurant terrace. After checkout we left our luggage in guest lockers for sightseeing. Later we returned to relax with soft-serve ice cream. We bought souvenirs at La Izumarché (the Hotel shop) and then headed home on the Hotel Shuttle Service bus. Thank you very much for everything—we had a wonderful time.

    I stayed with my eld...

    I stayed with my elderly mother. We stayed in an ocean-view Room on the 6th floor of AQUA SQUARE. The view from the Room was wonderful, and we really enjoyed the scenery. Not only the Room but the entire Hotel was clean and well maintained. Since the large public bath was in the Tower building, we used the connecting passageway (outside). Heaters were placed along the passageway, and I felt it was a thoughtful touch to help guests stay warm. We chose the buffet, which was great because we could take as much of what we liked as we wanted. It also felt like a good deal, with one free entry to Fuua at the on-site spa and discounts for the Atami Ropeway. There is also a shuttle bus from Atami Station, which was very helpful for us since we were traveling by train. Everyone, including the front desk staff, was polite and pleasant. I would like to stay again.

    After days of cold w...

    After days of cold weather, I suddenly felt like soaking in an Onsen, so I visited Atami Korakuen Hotel. It came with one free pass to the Ocean Spa, and I fully enjoyed the scenic open-air standing bath and the hot stone sauna. Dinner was a 90-minute buffet, and with free-flow drinks—including beer, sake, and other alcoholic beverages—I was very satisfied. It was also fun (and delicious) to compare the local craft beers: Kujira Beer and Kamome Beer. I stayed in a mountain-side Room, but since my main purpose was enjoying the Onsen, it wasn’t an issue. The Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. On the way home, I stopped by Kinomiya Shrine and Atami Plum Garden to enjoy early-blooming plum blossoms. It was a fulfilling 2-day/1-night trip to Atami!

    Always wonderful, year after year.

    I originally loved the Onsen, and having spa access included makes it perfect. The Room is spacious, always clean, and the view is outstanding. Even though you have been operating for many years, your Facility management is flawless—no odors, no stains, nothing. The all-you-can-drink plan includes good-quality alcohol, and the meals are carefully prepared; I am always satisfied. With the early-bird discount on a weekday, it felt almost too good a deal. When I was younger I stayed here for work training and conferences, and now I visit privately. I am impressed by your fine traditions and wish you continued success. Please let me stay again.

    Atami Korakuen Hotel

    After check-in, I visited the fuua spa. Even on a weekday, it was quite crowded, and there was a wait for both the hot stone sauna and the relaxation area. The Room was larger and cleaner than I expected, so I was satisfied. I just wish there were a few more amenities. I was happy with the all-you-can-eat crab. It would have been nice to have more options like tempura and seafood such as shellfish. The large public bath happened to be quiet at the right times, so I was glad I could use it several times. I also got to see the sunrise—it was beautiful.

    I was not satisfied ...

    I was not satisfied with the food at all. I stayed for two nights, and the meals were exactly the same on both days—there wasn’t a single different dish. On the second day, I had lunch at the Hotel restaurant instead of going out, but the steak was tough, the pizza was too salty, and it wasn’t worth the price.

    Good Points The hotel-attached spa, which guests can use once for free, was excellent. I used it after check-out and had a relaxing time. Disappointing Points The quality of the amenity towels was the worst among all the hotels I have stayed at. They were rough, and the towels provided in the guest room were even torn.

    It exceeded my expectations.

    I wanted to visit the Minato Shokudo at Fukura Fishing Port, so I decided to extend my trip and enjoy an onsen around Atami, choosing this accommodation. The room in the new building was very satisfying, comparable to a first-class hotel room. I also liked the color scheme. Additionally, both the sea and city views were visible. The SPA called Fuua had great scenery and was enjoyable; however, it is shared with general visitors. The bath of the accommodation is located on the 5th floor of the main building, but perhaps due to strong winds that day and it being winter, I didn't have a good impression of the small semi-open-air bath. Also, its distance from my room was a bit inconvenient. My rating for baths is 4 because of this accommodation's bath. For lunch, I went to Minato Shokudo; for dinner, I bought a bento box at Atami Station instead of dining here—so dinner isn't included in my evaluation. Breakfast was good as well. Since we ate early before it got crowded, that added to our positive experience. Overall, I'd rate this place above 4.5 stars and would consider staying again. While reviews seem slightly stagnant overall here on review sites, I believe it's due to mixed evaluations regarding their dinner buffet—especially when it's crowded leading to lower ratings during such times.

    A Fun Hotel

    I made a reservation through IKYU.com, and despite it being last minute, I was deeply moved by the thoughtful arrangement of a quiet room, possibly considering my age. The view overlooking the city of Atami was spectacular. The facility also included enjoyable features like an attached spa and market. With many young people and families around, it felt lively and pleasant. This was my second stay, and I had a wonderful time again. The onsen is spacious, and the hotel provided a sense of security. Thank you very much! Next time, I would love to visit with my children’s families.

    A wonderful memory.

    We stayed during the New Year holidays. Although it was a high season and our family rarely has matching schedules, all the staff were kind, and we had a pleasant stay. The food, drinks, and desserts were all satisfying. The view from the Room was excellent, and we could see the sunrise from the balcony, which made us very happy. We decided on this trip suddenly and were worried at first, but our whole family was extremely satisfied!

    Enjoyable Bathing Facility

    We stayed as a group of four, including my elderly mother, husband, and daughter. The room was a Japanese-style room but spacious enough for four people. Although the room wasn't new, it was clean and well-maintained. One highlight we loved was the beautiful night view. The Atami nightscape was stunning beyond expectations. Another great feature was the free access to the "Fuua" bathing facility. We enjoyed a family experience with stone sauna baths—my husband and daughter tried it for the first time and had a lot of fun! The standing bath there added to the enjoyment, offering an even more breathtaking view of the night scenery. Facilities like this make you feel like you've gained extra value during your stay. Dinner was served buffet-style. Perhaps our expectations were too high? Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything particularly delicious that stood out—it felt disappointing overall. There were dishes like yakisoba and curry that seemed out of place; we wished for more local specialties unique to this area instead. Some improvements here could make dining a stronger point for future visits. However, breakfast exceeded our expectations! Highlights included freshly grilled horse mackerel fillets, deliciously fresh squid salted in its own ink (available at their shop), Shizuoka-style oden stew, among other offerings. Additionally, perks such as free shuttle service to the station and half-price tickets for ropeway rides made us feel very fortunate during our stay. We would love to visit again if given another opportunity!

    The dinner buffet had a limited selection of dishes. The quality of the food was also disappointing. For the breakfast buffet, I was surprised that there wasn’t even one fresh juice option. The variety of dishes was limited, and the quality was also disappointing.

    We enjoyed a family trip at the end of the year. The spacious room offered a wonderful view of Atami city and the sea from the window. The Onsen was large, clean, and relaxing. The plan included all-you-can-drink, and the local fish dishes were delicious. It was a great way to wrap up the year.

    Excellent

    After staying at the accommodation for the first time in over 20 years, we were very pleased with the excellent and pleasant service provided by the staff. The meals, offered in a buffet style for both breakfast and dinner, were highly satisfying. The outdoor spa bath offered breathtaking views, and we thoroughly enjoyed the large public bath in the Tower building as well. On our way home, my wife and I happily talked about wanting to visit again. We definitely look forward to returning!

    Good Points - Enjoy a relaxing day at fuua - The large public baths other than fuua are also excellent - Rooms and large public baths were well-cleaned - Beds were comfortable to sleep on - Atami pudding can be purchased without waiting in line - Great value for the price Disappointing Points - Depending on the room, fuua may be far away, which could be challenging for older guests or those with mobility issues. - Staff members seemed busy and did not greet or interact much, neither positively nor negatively. - The staff at fuua also appeared distant and unengaged.

    This time...

    We stay at Atami Korakuen Hotel for our annual trip. We usually have a Japanese-style dinner in the Tower building's Japanese room, but this time we enjoyed the buffet. The sashimi and sushi paired perfectly with the all-you-can-drink alcohol. The quality and quantity were excellent, and we were very satisfied. Looking forward to next year as well!

    The view is great, but the customer service is terrible.

    The view from the room (overlooking the ocean) and the standing bath in the day-use Onsen were excellent. The quality of the water was also great. However, the staff's customer service was extremely poor, not at all fitting for a Hotel in this price range or one handled by IKYU.com. The food (breakfast and dinner buffet) was underwhelming, and sitting on the cushions in the room even caused coughing to worsen. If it were just an Accommodation without meals, there likely wouldn't have been any major dissatisfaction.

    It was the best Hotel.

    I booked a pretty nice room, and as soon as I entered the hotel, I was treated like a VIP and could relax with tea while completing the reservation, which made me very happy. There were plenty of baths with amazing views, and I even got to enjoy a private open-air bath—it felt like one night and two days weren't enough. The hotel was spacious with many shopping spots, which was great. It would have been even better if there were an arcade or shows available. I definitely want to visit again!

    The Onsen was excellent.

    The accommodation included a special offer with access to a private onsen with natural hot spring water, making it an amazing onsen experience. However, the room's air conditioning was still set for summer and had not been adjusted, so it was cold. Although we were informed at check-in that heaters could be provided, the one we received was extremely small and ineffective. During breakfast, seating was free with instructions to sit at tables marked "Available," but due to crowding, there were no seats left. It would have been helpful if staff had checked approximate dining times during check-in and used their communication devices to guide guests to available seats.

    The Excellence Room is great, but the meals are not very impressive.

    Stayed in an Excellence Floor Room on the top floor of the Tower Building, offering stunning views of Atami city and its nightscape. However, despite being November, the room only had cooling available due to centralized air conditioning management, making it impossible to switch to heating individually—a major issue with the air conditioning system. It was so cold that I requested a loaned electric heater, which was promptly provided. Still, having only cooling in November seems unreasonable! While daytime temperatures might be warm due to climate change, is it acceptable for an Excellence Room not to have individual air conditioning control? The private Onsen included as a perk was clean, spacious, offered great views and perfect water temperature. The lounge for guests staying in Excellence Rooms was nice but lacked complimentary alcohol and had very limited operating hours—only usable during daytime or morning—which does not justify the price at all! Is this because it's located in an Onsen town? They should take inspiration from city accommodations with lounge-inclusive plans. Before dinner, I visited the public bath; while spacious with good views, there were issues like inconsistent shower temperatures and lukewarm water overall—raising questions about temperature management. Dinner was served at "Koubai-tei." While staff were efficient and attentive during service, dishes were brought out quickly one after another without much time to relax between courses. Despite requesting substitutions for my partner's dietary restrictions beforehand (e.g., replacing meat), what we received instead was just a small sake-steamed clam dish—not adequate at all! Additionally surprising was receiving bland soy milk chawanmushi after finishing our main course—it felt out of order. The sashimi served had excellent freshness and taste; however no fried dishes appeared on such an expensive accommodation plan’s menu—disappointing overall considering expectations tied closely around meals when staying at high-end accommodations like this one. When ordering hot sake (atsukan), only expensive local varieties were available—and these could only be heated upon selection—resulting unexpectedly costly atsukan options compared against typical affordable offerings elsewhere! Breakfast being buffet-style shared alongside general guests seemed unacceptable given premium pricing associated here too. While staff members consistently displayed smiles & kindness throughout interactions—including polite responses—the lack of explanations regarding emergency exits during check-in stood noticeable     Annual Relaxing Trip for Two

    Every spring and autumn, my spouse and I go on an Onsen trip. This time, we chose the "Atami Korakuen Hotel." I had visited this hotel twice before for work and had a good impression, so we were looking forward to it as we headed there by car. Upon arrival, two male staff members who seemed to be concierges greeted us at the entrance. They asked if we were staying overnight, and after choosing a covered parking space, I dropped off my spouse at the hotel entrance before parking the car. However, finding my way to the reception area where my spouse was waiting took quite some time due to a lack of clear signage in the large building. When checking in at the front desk with my spouse, two young male staff members assisted us. Unfortunately, neither greeted us properly nor made eye contact or smiled during their service—this left a disappointing first impression that dampened our excitement. Our room was on the 8th floor of Aqua Wing with a beautiful ocean view; however, stepping out onto the balcony revealed a strong smell of cigarettes despite non-smoking stickers being displayed. It seemed likely that guests in adjacent rooms or lower floors had been smoking there—another letdown. We received an information booklet about navigating this large hotel and explored its facilities to avoid getting lost later. To relax our tired bodies afterward, we visited Ocean Spa "Fuua." The baths were spacious and enjoyable but crowded with many non-staying guests using them as well—it felt more like a public bathhouse than an exclusive experience. Meals were served buffet-style at "HARBOR’S" for both dinner and breakfast. While there was plenty of variety in dishes and drinks which satisfied us overall when compared against meals offered by high-end Ryokans we've stayed at previously (where accommodation fees exceed ¥70,000), it felt like a step down in quality. We usually choose luxurious Ryokans or Hotels with accommodation fees over ¥70,000 per stay to indulge ourselves while enjoying Onsen experiences fully; however this time around left us feeling slightly disappointed upon returning home.

    It was excellent.

    The renovated room was spacious and clean. Since it was the night before a three-day weekend (Friday) and fully booked from the next day, I felt lucky to secure a reservation. The dinner buffet, possibly due to Halloween, made the restaurant feel slightly noisy, but the menu was extensive with options like sashimi, shirasu rice bowls, roast beef, desserts, and unlimited drinks including alcohol at night. Other areas outside the restaurant were relatively quiet. The large public bath was open from 6 AM to 1 AM and wasn’t too crowded, allowing for a relaxing time. Guests can use Fuua Spa (a smaller version of LaQua in Suidobashi) once for free. I realized after arriving that this is part of Korakuen Hotel near Tokyo Dome (a bit late). Including breakfast, dinner, and spa access made it quite a good deal. The spa could also be used after check-out by leaving luggage at reception. Unlike LaQua, there’s no separate attire for the bath area and stone sauna area within Fuua Spa; I believe pricing is uniform as well (of course baths are separated by gender). The outdoor infinity pool-like bath and panoramic sauna were very enjoyable.

    Atami Korakuen Hotel

    From Atami Station, we took a taxi to the Hotel. Although there is a free shuttle bus every 40 minutes, we opted for a taxi as the next bus was 35 minutes away. The taxi fare was approximately 2,000 yen. Upon arrival at the Hotel, there were staff members in front but no greetings were exchanged. We proceeded to the second-floor lobby via escalator. The Hotel has an old-fashioned Showa-era vibe. There were four staff members at the front desk, and when it was our turn, we were guided to the lounge for check-in as part of our Plan. However, the lounge lacked any sense of luxury and staff quality was poor; they repeatedly asked us the same questions. After check-in, we went to our Room where allergy information provided in advance had been overlooked—snacks containing allergens were present in our Room. The guide who escorted us seemed mechanical and unwelcoming. The public bath and private bath facilities were excellent! Dinner scored 60 points while breakfast scored only 30 points out of 100. Dinner portions were small with average taste—no excitement whatsoever—and breakfast was buffet-style with long lines and frequent shortages that staff failed to notice promptly. Even when walking through narrow passages, staff did not yield space; guests had to make way instead. Check-out went smoothly despite high guest numbers; however, overall service felt lackluster as if staff worked without enthusiasm or attention to detail. We will not be returning again.

    The view is fantastic. Dinner could be better, but the all-you-can-drink option is excellent!

    The room was a Tower Wing Japanese-style room, and the view from the window was stunning from morning to night. Although there was a tea set in the room, there was no kettle, and hot water had to be requested from the front desk—a bit inconvenient when you want to make tea freely. The bath was spacious, clean, and offered an amazing view of Atami's sea. As for the dinner buffet we were looking forward to, it seemed like more budget went into the all-you-can-drink alcohol selection. While dishes like fried horse mackerel and Shizuoka oden were delicious, most others were disappointing. The roast beef was average at best. The sashimi and sushi lacked freshness—surprising for a decent accommodation in Atami—and left us disappointed. The Italian fair featured pasta and freshly baked pizza; however, both fell short with dry noodles and unappetizing pizza dough that made frozen food seem better by comparison. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed the all-you-can-drink alcohol lineup—it exceeded expectations! However, my companion who doesn’t drink found this less satisfying due to their disappointment with the meal quality. Breakfast saved our experience as it met our expectations in both taste and variety. The grilled horse mackerel we had been looking forward to did not disappoint—it was delicious! On the other hand, while cheese omelets were available, they tasted cheap; perhaps they would have been better without cheese altogether. A fresh juice option would have been a nice addition as well. Both check-in and check-out experiences could have been improved—the front desk staff spoke softly without any smiles or warmth; I had to ask them to repeat themselves several times. It gave me an impression that accommodations in Atami no longer prioritize hospitality because they don’t lack customers. On our way home after discussing how next time we'd prefer an accommodation focused on meals rather than buffets—even if it costs about the same—we stopped by a local shopping street for some delicious sushi that left us with fond memories of Atami after all!

    The Room was clean.

    The view from the window was beautiful, and it was wonderful to watch the sunrise from the Onsen. I forgot something, but the staff responded kindly and politely. However, the futon had an unpleasant smell, possibly from a previous guest, which made it difficult to sleep.

    The facilities were well-equipped and excellent.

    It was comfortable for a family member who needed walking support. The bathroom was equipped with chairs suitable for such needs, which was very helpful. There were no areas accessible only by stairs, which was great. While there were no major complaints, it would be nice if the sofa seating in the sunken kotatsu area of the Excellence Room could be made easier to use for those with leg issues. Additionally, we could hear some noise from upstairs, which was slightly distracting. Overall, the facility provided a relaxing environment even for caregivers, and we appreciated it greatly.

    I checked in at the Excellency Lounge, where my details were confirmed on a tablet—this is where it all began. I told the front desk staff that I thought it was an issue with IKYU’s data, but in the end it was my own input mistake. The staff member kindly contacted IKYU’s service center to confirm and explained everything to me with great care. After many years of not realizing this mistake, I was finally able to enter the information correctly this time. Thank you very much. Even though they must have been busy, I truly appreciated how quickly and thoughtfully they acted to help resolve my personal error. Thanks to such wonderful front desk staff, my stay at Korakuen Hotel was soothing both physically and mentally. I hope others will experience this as well.
