Thank you to the Hotel staff.
Our family of four stayed in two Rooms. It was very close to Osaka-jō Hall, making it perfect for attending a concert. The next morning, the bath and sauna were also wonderful after running on the course around the hall. Above all, we are grateful for your help with a lost item. Even though I came back after noticing it, it was hard to find and I think I caused you a lot of time and trouble, but you responded so kindly—and I will never forget your smile when you told me it had been found. To all the staff, thank you very much for taking such good care of us. We would definitely like to stay again when we visit Osaka.

Live Breakfast Kitchen
At the breakfast buffet’s live kitchen, there are fried eggs and grilled meat, but guests end up lining up there first, which disrupts the flow and makes it hard to pick up other dishes. The grilled meat is cooked quickly, but the fried eggs take far too long. I don’t think fried eggs are necessary in the first place; it would be better to cook them elsewhere and display them like boiled eggs. The Onsen is a great Facility. The draft beer service in the lounge and the ice pops were also nice.

The restaurant offers outstanding views.
This will be a slightly critical Review. I’ve stayed at Hotel Monterey in Kyoto before, and I came in with that same impression—so my expectations were probably too high. The exterior is very impressive. It’s a bit of a walk from the station, but it’s via a connecting passageway, so you won’t get wet even when it rains. We bought tasty desserts and bento at the Hankyu mall and department store connected to the station. There are plenty of shops nearby. The Room had blue wallpaper, which is my favorite color. However, I chose a Room specified for floors 17–22, but the view was of other guest Rooms on the opposite side of the Hotel. If you crane your neck, you can see just a small bit of scenery to the side. Are floors 17–22 all guest Rooms to begin with? If so, what does “floors 17–22 specified” actually mean? Does that mean choosing this option is no different from selecting a standard Room? I called the front desk and was told that some twin type has a better view for an additional JPY 4,400—so I gave up. I chose this place because it has a spa and lounge. It wasn’t like Kyoto, where you can enjoy spectacular views from the lounge. From the start, the blinds (?) were down, and it was just a view of other high-rise buildings. I told myself: right—the Kyoto view was simply too good. But when I sat down… the chair didn’t recline. The reclining chairs are in the relaxation area further back, but because it’s set deeper inside, there’s zero view. Oh well—I guess it can’t be helped. I had some juice and found one of only two massage chairs and sat down—nice! It really relieved my shoulder tension. Drinks are good (same as Kyoto). Here they also have soup. And if you go early enough, you can have one beer as well—great for those who enjoy that. The spa: great jet bath! But something shocking—the inside of the trash bin in the washing area was dirty. I could see mold and quickly looked away. And even though there is an open-air bath (rotenburo), there’s zero view. Seeing only a few centimeters through a narrow gap is stressful instead of relaxing. There were also black stains on parts of the privacy screen as well. This should be addressed—guests come for an escape from everyday life, so seeing grime like this is really discouraging. I don’t mind that some Facilities are old. But I want them to properly clean inside those spa trash bins and clean around/behind-the-screen areas by the open-air bath more thoroughly. On the other hand, our in-Room bathroom was clean. Since this is supposed to be a high-floor spa anyway, I wish they made better use of that open-air bath area—if they invested there and marketed it for its views alone (even just that part), I think more people would come. Breakfast was good—and this view was wonderful. The food was delicious! The fried takoyaki bites (and croissants) tasted great too—as did everything else we tried.

Spacious and relaxing
This was our repeat stay for my husband, who loves baths. The classic atmosphere creates a relaxed pace of time, and the Room is slightly spacious, comfortable, and calming. I hadn’t noticed before, but this time the pajamas and towels felt quite worn. Was it because we chose an inexpensive Plan? I didn’t use the large public bath this time, but I felt I wouldn’t want to go there wearing those pajamas.

Dinner far exceeded our expectations.
I was surprised by how lavish the dinner was, and it even included drinks. Breakfast was also delicious—the meals exceeded my expectations. The only downside was that the bed felt small. Also, parts of the bath area were a bit hard to find. The Tenjin Festival fireworks were fairly far away and hard to see from certain angles, but it was nice to enjoy them from an air-conditioned Room. Since it’s so close that there’s no need to stay overnight just for watching the fireworks, I’d like to visit again for the meals.

Although it was midsummer and I expected even a 5-minute walk from the station to be tough, it was convenient because I could take a covered route. Breakfast was fun and unique, with items you don’t usually find at other Hotels, such as fruit sandwiches and fried takoyaki. As for the spa, perhaps because I went outside peak hours, I was able to relax and enjoy it. The only disappointment was the Room bathroom—the smell from either the toilet or the shower curtain bothered me. All of the staff were very kind. Thank you.

The breakfast venue at the later time was simply disappointing.
I have stayed here multiple times already. I like the Monterey brand and often use other group Hotels as well. This time I had time, so I went for a late breakfast. Perhaps there were not enough staff to clear tables, but many tables still had used dishes left on them, so I couldn’t choose freely. Also, many drink containers were empty, and even after asking, they were not refilled while I was eating. The same was true for the food—many items were missing. Some were replenished after I asked, but bread and desserts were not refilled. It was disappointing and made me feel that perhaps the Monterey quality can only be maintained if you go early. Other than that, everything was good as usual.

The Onsen was great. It’s on the 16th floor, and I could enjoy it while looking at the night view. In the morning, reception closed at 8:30, so I couldn’t use it, which was disappointing. If only it were open a bit longer… It’s away from the downtown area so it’s quiet, but the Room is fully visible from the neighboring building, so I couldn’t open the curtains. Getting there from Kyobashi Station was inconvenient because you have to go up stairs and cross a bridge. Breakfast was crowded with a large group and there were no seats available, which was frustrating. I think it’s normal—like other hotels—to separate seating or rooms for group guests. When I asked staff for help because there were no seats, I was shocked to be told to eat on a sofa in the hallway…

For a concert at Osaka-jō Hall
Excellent access to Osaka-jo Hall. It seemed many guests were staying, and they extended the Onsen and lounge hours, so I was able to relax and enjoy the Onsen at my leisure. The breakfast venue was bright and clean, with a great variety of options. My husband, who enjoys running, went for a morning run around Osaka Castle and was very satisfied that he could also use the Onsen in the morning. The service was very courteous, and I would definitely like to stay here again when visiting Osaka.

It was easy to access from JR Kyobashi Station.
I stayed in Osaka to attend a live concert. This time I flew in via Itami Airport and walked from JR Kyobashi Station using the pedestrian deck. The Hotel name was displayed at the entrance, but the space was so open that I couldn’t see the front desk right away and hesitated for a moment. However, it was indeed the correct place—once I went inside, I found the front desk. After checking in, I headed to the elevators. There were many of them, so there was almost no waiting time. Since I went out at night, most nearby restaurants were already closing and I wasn’t sure what to do, but there is a convenience store on the first floor of the Hotel, which was very convenient. I couldn’t use the large public bath when I arrived, so I used it the next morning. After checking in at reception, it’s a bit of a walk to reach the bath area. There are also some steps. It can’t be helped due to the layout, but it might be a little challenging for older guests. I was able to get ready at my own pace before heading out. Thank you very much.

We had a relaxing stay.
I made a Reservation because I was attracted by the large public Onsen bath. The open-air bath was very pleasant, but while being open until 11:00 PM is fine, it is only available from 7:00 to 9:00 AM in the morning, so I couldn’t use it before breakfast. The sink drain in the Room was slow. Even when brushing my teeth, water pooled in the basin. Please improve this. I appreciated that the loungewear was pajamas rather than a yukata.

Not quite what you need.
This time I stayed solo to recharge. I booked a Room with a semi-double bed because I wanted to relax in the Hotel, but I was given a twin Room with single-size beds. When I asked, I was told, “We upgraded you for free. We’re sorry we didn’t inform you at check-in,” and they apologized. However, the hassle of changing Rooms meant I couldn’t relax at all for 30 minutes after check-in. I appreciate the gesture, but for a solo stay, a twin Room doesn’t feel like an upgrade. Please keep this in mind going forward. Also, there were combs placed in front of the spa reception desk, but none in the changing area, which was honestly inconvenient when drying my hair. It would be helpful if guests were told at reception: “Combs are not provided inside the spa; please take one from reception.” The hair dryer may be high-end, but it was extremely loud. The one in my Room dried faster and was easier to use. The spa had makeup remover, toner, and lotion, but there were none in the Room, which was also inconvenient. If it’s difficult to place them in every Room, it would help to have a rental service available upon request. The spa is small but has an open-air bath; the jet bath pressure was pleasantly strong, and the shampoo felt great. The complimentary ice pops were underwhelming, but the lounge drinks had a wide selection. In addition to loungers and massage chairs there’s also a stretching room—so as long as there aren’t children being noisy or people talking loudly, you can relax. Breakfast and dinner were truly delicious, and all staff members were pleasant and wonderful. I also appreciated that there were tea bags not only for green tea and coffee but also black tea—I’m a tea person. I’ve mentioned various complaints here and there, but checkout is as late as 11:00 AM and overall it was comfortable—so when I hit my limit again someday, I’d like to stay again. Thank you very much.

Both the exterior and the Room are very clean, making it a classic Hotel.
This was my first time staying at Hotel Monterey in Osaka, and I didn’t realize it was such a wonderful Hotel. I wish I had known sooner! The Room was clean, and the hallways, lobby, and elevators were all easy to use and spotless. The staff were also very helpful; when there was an issue with the electric kettle, they replaced it promptly, which I really appreciated. From now on, whenever I come to Osaka, I’d like to stay at Hotel Monterey.

With my parents
I stayed with my parents as a group of three. The Room was spacious and family-friendly. The in-room bath was also large, which we were very satisfied with. The night view was amazing. Breakfast in particular exceeded our expectations. There was a wide variety of options, and the drinks were great. It became a wonderful memory. Thank you very much. Being able to see Osaka Castle from the Hotel is another great highlight!

The issues with the spa Facility were extremely disappointing.
I chose this Hotel because I wanted to relax and liked that it has a spa available from 3:00 PM, but on the morning of my third night I found a notice slipped under my Room door saying the spa Facility was unavailable due to a malfunction. There was also an apology notice posted in the elevator, so I understood it couldn’t be helped, but it was very disappointing. At checkout, I expected at least a brief apology, but there was none, and it took away from the enjoyment of my Hotel stay. I know it was unavoidable, but if I had been able to use the spa until the last day, I would have wanted to stay again… It was too disappointing and lowered my overall satisfaction.

A very good Hotel
This was my first time staying in Osaka, and I’m very glad I chose Hotel Monterey. The location is extremely convenient, directly connected to Kyobashi Station via a covered walkway. There is an Onsen on the 16th floor, and the Facility was very clean; the staff were also friendly and attentive, making it a wonderful Hotel. On the way back, I visited Osaka Castle, about a 7-minute walk away. I would love to stay here again.

Staying overnight to attend a live concert
I stayed here to attend a live concert. I like the atmosphere of Hotel Monterey, but this was my first time in Osaka. What appealed to me was how convenient it was for getting to the venue, the on-site spa, and having Mirable installed. The spa and lounge were very relaxing. I also appreciated the long opening hours. In addition, all of the Hotel staff were polite and left a good impression (in every department). Breakfast was delicious, and I ate plenty. It was disappointing that there were stains on the Room floor. Perhaps because my Room was near the ice machine, every time ice came out the noise echoed and startled me in the middle of the night. The towels were clean, but they may have felt a bit worn. The amenities had everything I needed, and I’m glad there was Mirable. The basket for using the spa was also helpful. I’d like to go to the spa again. I also used the discount for Sanno Art Museum.

Very good.
The overall atmosphere is very pleasant. There is a convenient route directly connected to the station. The welcome drink, beer after the bath, soft drinks, and the large public bath are all very relaxing. However, the moment I entered the Room, there was a sweaty smell—I wasn’t sure where it was coming from. I considered asking to change Rooms, but after opening the window slightly and spraying the provided deodorizing spray 2–3 times on the chair, pillow, duvet cover, and sheets around the pillow area, it went away. In addition, I noticed a wheelchair left out in the hallway on the same floor; after a while, trash from finished meals was also left out there. It smelled like curry as well. Breakfast was delicious too. Since breakfast hours overlap with morning bath hours, you can only do one or the other. It would be nice if you could start bath hours a little earlier in the morning.

The large public bath is excellent.
We stayed here with four friends during last summer’s Osaka Expo and had a great experience, so this time we visited as a couple. The Room is a bit small, but it was very clean and we were able to stay comfortably. Breakfast was satisfying as well, with a wide variety of salads and fruits. We used the large public bath on a weekend evening, but it wasn’t crowded and we could relax. However, it was a little disappointing that the attached lounge now seems to offer drinks only.

Onsen in the City
Even though it’s a city Hotel, I was able to relax in the Onsen. If I had to mention anything, I could hear noise from the hallway and the next room and it woke me up in the morning, and the hair dryer’s airflow was weak. Still, I got a great deal on my stay and was very satisfied. Thank you very much.

Dinner at Zuientei
The food and sake were both very delicious. However, aside from bringing the dishes and drinks, the staff did not provide any hospitality. Although there was a menu, there was no explanation of the dishes. Perhaps they were busy dealing with a group? I was seated alone in a Room with four tables, and it felt bland—just eating whatever was brought out. The noise from the group was also loud, so unfortunately I can only leave a disappointing comment. In the past, when I used to be a regular at Zuientei in Kyoto, I had a friendly relationship with the manager as well, so the gap felt far too large.

I stayed for two nig...
I stayed for two nights to see a show at WW Hall. I considered another place closer to the venue, but being able to use the spa was the deciding factor. I planned to take the train one stop to the venue, but I tried walking instead so I could stop by JO-TERRACE; since you can walk through Osaka Castle Park, it wasn’t difficult at all, and even between matinee and evening shows I had plenty of time to walk back to the Hotel (about 17 minutes at a woman’s pace). Using the lounge and spa helped me recover from fatigue (the massage chairs were a lifesaver!), and although the Facility is old, it was well cleaned and comfortable to use. My favorite part was breakfast—everything was delicious. I also appreciated that they brought freshly baked bread. I’ve stayed at other Hotel Monterey Group properties in Sapporo, Sendai, Kyoto, and Fukuoka, and breakfast is great everywhere. If I could make a request: it would be even more helpful if towels were provided in the spa, and I’d be happy if beer were available in the lounge after 6:00 p.m., even for an additional charge. One thing I’d like you to note: at breakfast on the first morning, the table seemed to be set up incorrectly—the chair was placed on the side with a table leg, so my legs wouldn’t fit under the table. It wasn’t worth calling staff over so I rotated the table myself, but it felt impolite of me; it might be best to check table orientation before putting on the tablecloths. (On the second morning my legs didn’t hit anything, so I do think that first table’s orientation was wrong.) Overall, this is a Hotel I would definitely like to stay at again. I’m thinking of returning in early autumn as well—thank you in advance when that time comes.

I stay at various Hotels a few times a month for “staycations.” This time, I stayed at this Hotel for the first time to enjoy cherry blossom viewing at Osaka Castle. The Onsen spa was spacious, and since I used it during a quiet time, it was very comfortable. The changing room could be a bit cooler, though. I was able to relax in the lounge as well, and the massage chairs were great. The underground parking was also convenient and easy to use. The Room is compact, but the blue wallpaper and black tiles in the bath/toilet area were cute—like an apartment overseas. However, I noticed a slight sewer-like smell in the toilet area. The shower temperature was also lukewarm. Also, it was disappointing that the view faced directly into another guest Room’s window across from us. Breakfast had many foreign guests, but it was quiet and nice. The menu is average; for 3,800 yen, I’d like to see a bit more effort. The fruit was peeled and easy to eat. I really liked the spa, so I’ll visit again if I have the chance.

The lounge by the large public bath was great.
The Room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and we were able to relax and enjoy our stay. Since there is a connected walkway from Kyobashi Station, you can get there without getting wet even on rainy days. We went to Osaka Station for dinner, but it’s only a few minutes away on the JR Loop Line, so we could stay somewhere quieter than the busy area around Osaka Station. The warm beef soup in the large public bath lounge was delicious. In addition to drinks, they also had ice pops, which made our time even more enjoyable. It was also helpful that we could freely enter and exit the parking lot until check-out. We would love to stay again.

We were very satisfied with the dinner.
I stayed here to visit the Egypt Exhibition being held at the Abeno Harukas Art Museum. I had used this Accommodation a few times for work banquets, and since the banquet food was surprisingly good, I assumed the restaurant meals would be as well, so I chose the “Shiromi Kaiseki” for dinner. The dishes served were beautifully presented and truly wonderful, and everything was delicious. Also, they watched our pace—we eat fairly quickly—and brought each course one after another without delay, which impressed us. The staff who served us were also very attentive and pleasant. The front desk staff were courteous and faultless in their service, and we thoroughly enjoyed the bath as well. Breakfast was also delicious; in particular, the freshly baked bread was excellent, and I ended up eating far too much. I would like to stay here again when I have a chance to visit central Osaka. However, I would like guests to wear pajamas only when going to the bath. While drinking coffee in the lobby in front of reception, I was surprised when a young woman came in wearing pajamas. I thought it wasn’t appropriate to come to reception like that. It says “No pajamas in the restaurant,” but it seems pajamas are allowed at reception—if possible, I hope you will reconsider this policy.

Breakfast buffet
I heard that a group would arrive from 7:30, so I came a little after 7:00. A long line formed at the meat grilling station, and even guests who did not want that item had to wait in the same line. Perhaps it would be better to move the popular meat station to a different location. Overall, all of the food tasted very good. The advance notice about the group was also very thoughtful and much appreciated.
