    A one-of-a-kind luxury Hotel offering an extraordinary experience.

    The accommodation exceeded expectations in every aspect: the room, lounge, onsen bath, dining, and hotel hospitality. It was truly a wonderful stay! The private sauna and open-air bath in the room were exceptional, and the quality of the course buffet was outstanding—everything was absolutely delicious! As someone who loves traveling and has stayed at various accommodations, I can confidently say this is one of the best experiences I've ever had. I will definitely visit again!

    Third visit

    Stayed at the accommodation again this year. It was very relaxing, and the temperature of the open-air bath in the room was just right, making my stay comfortable. It was disappointing that the chocolate shop attached to the accommodation was no longer there. I hope to visit again next year.

    The Room and Onsen were good. However, I couldn't think of anything particularly outstanding to justify the relatively high room rate. The impression might have been different during the drift ice season, for sauna enthusiasts, or in the summer tourist season.

    It was amazing!!

    The food was delicious, and the accommodation was clean and beautiful! The sauna lived up to its reputation and was absolutely amazing!! The only slight disappointment was the massage, which felt a bit underwhelming compared to other accommodations considering the price. Overall, it was fantastic!!

    It was a good Hotel.

    I stayed for two nights, and it was a nice Hotel. Although it was all-inclusive, we opted out of dinner. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. My wife even commented on how thorough the check-in process was due to the detailed explanation provided. The Room was on the top floor but had a partial ocean view, which felt slightly disappointing. It seemed like this might have been a Ryokan in the past? The TV felt small compared to the size of the Room, and from one of the beds near the entrance, it was hard to see while lying down. Additionally, there was a small refrigerator that seemed out of place given its space. This might be an issue with IKYU.com, but there was a significant difference between the photos shown online and our actual Room; this should be addressed. While there was also a private bath in our Room, I used the large public bath instead. I tried to avoid peak times and enjoyed spacious and comfortable bathing. Breakfast was buffet-style with seafood options included—it tasted great! Unlike many Hotels that offer mediocre breakfasts, this one exceeded expectations. The 24-hour lounge offered plenty of snacks and various alcoholic beverages starting in the evening; I found this very satisfying as well. Although we initially planned for sightseeing during our stay, reports about bear incidents across The whole country made us limit outdoor activities as much as possible. However, since we could fully enjoy ourselves within the Hotel premises alone, it wasn’t an issue at all.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    I visit Abashiri once or twice a year to enjoy delicious fish and sake. Thank you for your hospitality this time. Each building—Main, Annex, and West—has its own charm. With the all-inclusive setup, I could use the café anytime. The room had a fireplace, and I could see Utoro Port and the Sea of Okhotsk from the window, which was truly satisfying. The meals were buffet-style but felt like course dining; it was the best buffet experience I've ever had—absolutely amazing! However, it was a bit disappointing that there weren’t any dishes unique to Hokkaido or Eastern Hokkaido to enjoy. Thank you for a wonderful trip! I appreciate your hospitality.

    It was excellent!

    We stayed as a group of six, celebrating my husband's 70th birthday and our 40th wedding anniversary with our two daughters and their husbands. We were especially looking forward to the meals, which were said to be exceptional. Instead of a buffet, we were served beautifully plated, freshly prepared dishes for each person—truly impressive! The food was delicious, and everyone was thoroughly satisfied. The views from the sauna and large public bath were stunning; soaking in the hot water while watching the sunset with my daughters made me feel incredibly happy. As part of our celebration, we received a commemorative gift from the Hotel and were even upgraded to a higher-grade Room—what a wonderful surprise! It was our first time experiencing an all-inclusive stay, and it felt almost too good to be true—unlimited drinks without worrying about extra charges during meals or afterward! We enjoyed snacks and desserts in the lounge after dinner, relaxed in foot baths while savoring complimentary ice cream—it truly felt like a dream come true. On departure day, one of the very handsome staff members kindly took photos for us. Everyone kept saying how much they wanted to return as we left with excitement still buzzing among us. Thank you so much to everyone at Kitakobushi Hotel—we are already looking forward to visiting again together someday!

    I was surprised to find such a splendid facility in a World Natural Heritage site. The all-inclusive buffet-style meals were carefully prepared and delicious. However, for an accommodation of this level, seeing many people walking around to get their food felt slightly less appealing.

    I received a free room upgrade. The large public bath and restaurant were conveniently close. Apart from the parking lot being across the street, I was very satisfied.

    This hotel consistently offers a high level of satisfaction no matter when you visit. While some facilities may show signs of aging, they are very well-maintained and clean, making for a pleasant stay. The meals are delicious, and it's easy to overindulge. The bar is convenient and provides a relaxing atmosphere where you can enjoy beer or wine before dinner or after a bath, which is truly delightful. I usually visit during the same season, but next time I’d love to go in winter and try different dishes. Recently, I thought it would be convenient if the room had USB outlets or adapters for charging devices.

    Perfect for every season.

    Thank you for hosting us for 2 nights and 3 days from October 9th to 11th. We thoroughly enjoyed the meals. I felt that visiting during a different season might allow us to enjoy even more. The lounge was relaxing, and we appreciated the calm atmosphere. The large public bath was not crowded, allowing us to unwind comfortably. We definitely want to visit again. Next time, we plan to book a Room with an open-air bath. Looking forward to staying with you again!

    Buffet Cuisine and Chinese Guests

    I expected an all-inclusive buffet, but the main dishes were served on cold plates, and the sauce was lukewarm, which was far from satisfying. The escorted seating placed us next to a group speaking loudly, making it unbearable and prompting us to move seats on our own. In the morning, as seating was free, we chose our own table; however, soon after sitting down, another loud group arrived next to us. This made it impossible to enjoy a peaceful meal with my family—we ate in silence and wanted nothing more than to return quickly to our Room. While I have no intention of discriminating against anyone, having spent so much money for this trip only to experience such disappointment makes me question why I even came here. Overall service and value for money left no impression or joy whatsoever. This will remain as a bad memory of my trip to Hokkaido.

    It was very relaxing.

    This was the Hotel I was most looking forward to on my first trip to Shiretoko. The man at the reception was a bit intimidating. I felt uncomfortable when he told me to keep an eye on my child because it could be dangerous. The lounge always had delicious-looking food and drinks available. However, since items like forks were individually wrapped in plastic, I became concerned about the possibility of this waste ending up in the ocean. If efforts are being made regarding bears, it would be great if measures could also be taken to reduce waste. Dinner was excellent. The toilet in the Room felt outdated, which was a bit disappointing.

    The buffet meals are of a high standard.

    The dinner buffet featured many dishes prepared in a live kitchen, with beautifully presented and delicious options. However, the breakfast included some items like salads that were identical to those from dinner, and it would be great to see a bit more variety. Still, it was the most delicious buffet I’ve ever had. Both the Facility and the Room were excellent, but the hairdryer was difficult to use, and even foreign guests seemed to struggle with it. It might be better to provide more user-friendly options like ReFa or Panasonic models.

    It was our first stay for our honeymoon!!

    After deciding on our trip, we were so excited to stay at this hotel and watched many videos on YouTube in anticipation. We were truly delighted by the wonderful surprise in our room, perhaps because we mentioned it was our honeymoon! We also cherished and brought home the message card. The meals, the onsen, the lounge upon arrival, and the footbath after dinner all exceeded our expectations, and we enjoyed every moment to the fullest! The staff were always cheerful, and it became a very satisfying and memorable stay. Thank you so much. Although it will be a little while, we have promised to return in five years during the drift ice season, and we look forward to creating more wonderful memories with your help at that time.

    Family Trip

    This was my first time in Shiretoko and my first stay at Kitakobushi. I stayed for two nights in a Sea View Twin High Floor room. I was unsure about choosing the high floor when making the reservation, but I’m glad I did. There are two points that caught my attention: First, right after leaving the room to check out, a cleaning staff member entered immediately. It felt as though they were waiting for us to leave, which wasn’t very pleasant. Second, there was dust accumulated inside the refrigerator, and it was dirty. I hope this can be improved. That said, everything else—the view, the room, the bath, and especially the meals—was absolutely satisfying! The food used plenty of Hokkaido ingredients and was beautifully presented like a course meal. Being all-inclusive made it even better with unlimited drinks and food in a clean lounge—it was fantastic! I would love to stay here again!

    The room is too old.

    The room was completely different from the photos, old and felt like a storage space, which was quite unsettling. On the wall, there was an old Grand Hotel logo bath towel hanging on a leather belt—perhaps intended as decoration? The male staff at the front desk were not very accommodating. We stayed for 3 nights, but the meals were almost identical every morning and evening. The lounge also served exactly the same food. For three people who don’t drink alcohol, paying 45,200 yen per person per night is unreasonable. I love traveling and have been all over the whole country, but this is the first time I’ve encountered a hotel so mismatched with its price. At night, I thought of going to do laundry but found the front desk completely dark. The hallways were dimly lit and eerie, so I turned back immediately.

    Completely Satisfied

    Thank you for your hospitality the other day. It was unfortunate that my two-night stay turned into one night due to a flight cancellation. I would love to visit again. The cancellation procedures were handled kindly, making the process smooth and pleasant. Although sudden weather changes completely altered my travel plans, I was able to fully enjoy the Hotel's Facility instead. During meals, there was no crowding, allowing me to dine at a relaxed pace.

    I stayed in a room with an open-air bath on the 7th floor. The view of the ocean from the room was stunning. In the morning, I was moved by the sight of fishing boats heading out to sea. The meals were delicious, especially the beef stew and soy milk corn soup. If I had to mention one thing, it would be nice if breakfast seating was reserved as well. The staff at the Hotel were very attentive, and even the kitchen staff at the restaurant greeted us with smiles, showcasing Japan's exceptional hospitality. It’s a Hotel I would love to stay at again.

    I revisited the accommodation because I had a pleasant stay before the new system was introduced. However, this time, I was treated the same as group guests during meals, having to line up for food and wait, which made paying the high price feel unjustified. Previously, I could enjoy my meal leisurely at a table with a nice view. The service was good.

    Oedo Onsen Monogatari?

    Booked immediately after seeing it on TV. 25,000 JPY for two people, two nights on weekdays in early September. It was a suite room. You carry your own luggage. Dinner is a buffet. The entire system is the same as Ooedo Onsen Monogatari. The room is extremely small. I stay over 100 nights annually at accommodations ranging from 30,000 JPY to 300,000 JPY for two people, but this is the first time I've experienced such a disparity between price and service. Compared to the previous week at Shima Kanko Hotel Bay Suite with a French full-course meal by an award-winning chef and spacious rooms for 280,000 JPY for two people, it feels disheartening. Is this hotel specialized in tours?

    Bathing for Guests with Tattoos

    This is not a criticism or protest against tattoos. Despite the notice at the bathhouse entrance stating "No entry for individuals with tattoos," someone with full-body tattoos was bathing. Would it be possible to inform reservers of this rule in advance via email or other means? Personally, I did not feel uncomfortable about it.

    Family-friendly

    Check-in is not available until 3:00 PM, but this is understandable. The lounge offers coffee and alcohol, so it’s not an issue. Luggage must be carried to the room by yourself; no service is provided. The Room is a 36 sqm Japanese-Western style room in the main building. It’s not very spacious but clean and well-maintained. To access the public bath or restaurant, you need to move to another building, which can be slightly inconvenient. The public bath provides small towels but no bath towels. You need to bring your own from the Room each time and may have to use a damp towel afterward, though the small towels make it manageable. The washroom in the public bath features several types of hair dryers like Dyson and ReFa, which is a nice touch. Meals are buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner with surprisingly high quality. It’s a large Hotel with many families with children and international guests, but it remains within an acceptable range of comfortability overall.

    Regular Accommodation!

    I use this place every summer vacation and always look forward to it. The food quality is exceptionally high. Everything is so delicious that I end up eating too much, which is almost a problem! Haha. It would be great if there were a Plan with dinner included but no breakfast, as I tend to eat too much at night and can't manage breakfast the next morning. I'm already looking forward to next year!

    A Shiretoko Trip with Elderly Parents

    I stayed with my elderly parents, and the reception staff kindly assisted us with inquiries about wheelchair use upon arrival. The next morning, they also helped us arrange a local taxi reservation, understanding our needs perfectly. My parents were delighted with the freshly prepared meals and couldn't believe such a wonderful hotel existed in Shiretoko. Thank you very much!

    Questionable balance between price and Facility

    A stay for two with two meals included at a rate of 80,000 yen led us to expect high-quality room amenities and attentive service. We were looking forward to a comfortable stay on the 7th floor of the main building with great views. However, the room we were guided to had a unit-type bathroom raised from the floor, resembling that of a Business Hotel, with a small sink and bathtub. Additionally, every step onto the raised area produced creaking noises. The disparity between the price and what was offered was hard to ignore. Neither IKYU.com nor the official website provided prior information about this setup. Not wanting to continue our Multiple Night Stay in such an unsatisfactory room for its price, we requested at reception for a change to one with better bathroom facilities for our second night. However, their response was an offer of "no refund and downgrade to a room without views," which did not feel like sincere customer service. While there may be some appeal in terms of meals or Onsen facilities, those who prioritize room comfort when choosing Accommodation should carefully consider whether the balance between price and amenities meets their expectations.

    Overall, it was a reasonably satisfying accommodation, but honestly, the reviews I had seen about the "best buffet in Japan" were disappointing. Perhaps it was due to the busy season, but the buffet options were quite limited (with a significantly reduced variety), making it less enjoyable. Unless there is an increase in variety, I felt that the cost-performance balance does not justify the price of over 40,000 yen per night.
