    Wonderful Resort Hotel

    My first time in Miyakojima, and I was so happy to find such a wonderful Hotel! The 24-hour Shuttle Service, delicious breakfast, great hospitality, and the spacious grounds—everything was perfect. Since there’s a beach and restaurants on the property, you don’t even need to go far. The amenities were well stocked, and housekeeping was provided every day. This is a Hotel I definitely want to stay at again! Thank you so much! I also highly recommend the sushi restaurant on the property called Sofu—it was delicious!

    Staff expertise and clarity of information

    I stayed here for one night to enjoy a resort getaway. It was my first time in Miyakojima, and when I made the Reservation I had no idea what kind of Hotel it was or how everything was laid out. Once I arrived, I realized it’s a large resort area with a vast property where multiple hotels and condos are spread out. Because I have lower back pain, I was really looking forward to swimming in the pool. However, when I asked the day before whether I could use the pool before check-in, it seemed that not everyone had the same information. On the day of arrival, when I said I wanted to swim in the largest pool, staff also didn’t seem to share which pool was actually the biggest. In the end, I was happy to be able to swim in the large Garden Pool, but since I expected clear guidance at check-in about what pools were available and where they were located, this was quite disappointing. After returning home, I searched for information about the pools on The Shigira Resort website and elsewhere, but details aren’t consolidated in one place—information is provided separately by each Hotel or condo. It also takes a lot of time to figure out which pools can or cannot be used depending on where you stay—and even now it’s still unclear. At check-in, it would be very helpful if the area map clearly showed all pool locations, which guests can use each one based on their Accommodation, and whether any related services are free or paid. That said, my Room was classic and spacious. By luck it was on the third floor with an ocean view—the scenery was excellent. The Hotel itself isn’t huge, so it felt private and calm, which I really liked. I'd like to stay at other hotels within the area as well, but after researching various options online, this Room style here suited my taste best. Although it was disappointing that information wasn’t consistently shared among staff members regarding facilities like pools (and related services), everyone’s smiles were wonderful—they naturally made me smile too. Between both people and nature being so soothing overall satisfaction is high!

    If you’re worried about rainy weather, choosing Allamanda is the right decision.

    This was my second stay at Allamanda this year. This time the rainy season started just before my trip, so it rained almost the entire stay—sometimes heavily. The marine activities we had planned were canceled, and we had to adjust everything else around the weather. I’ve visited Miyakojima many times, but this was the first time I’ve experienced nonstop rain like this. So instead of forcing ourselves to go out, we switched to a relaxing stay spent at the Hotel and within the resort—and if anyone is worried about “What if it rains…?”, I can confidently say Allamanda is a great choice. What I truly appreciated again in these conditions was how well-equipped Shigira Resort is. Even with bad weather, there was more than enough to enjoy without leaving the resort. We enjoyed the lounge even more than usual. And it’s wonderful that you can still see sea turtles even on rainy days! There are plenty of restaurant options, and it was great to take food back from the food stalls and enjoy a relaxed meal in our Room. Being able to buy drinks and snacks at the market was also very helpful. For a moment I thought, “It would be convenient if there were a small shop inside Allamanda,” but at the same time, I also want this Hotel to continue valuing its special, elegant atmosphere just as it is. Personally, I like the current style where roles are clearly divided between the Hotel and the market. And no matter how bad the weather was, the view from higher up on Allamanda’s 4th floor felt absolutely refreshing. The drifting rain clouds, distant bands of heavy rainfall, sparkling sunlight breaking through gaps in the clouds from time to time, the beautiful color of the sea even under gray skies, and waves crashing against rocky shores… We were able to keep watching these dramatic expressions of nature—something you can only see because of stormy weather—in such a luxurious way. Also, since we spent so much time in our Room this trip: if possible, having a Bluetooth speaker in Pool Villa Lagoon Suite would make it even more comfortable. Of course, since it isn’t a detached cottage-style villa there may be concerns such as sound leakage—but I feel it would further improve satisfaction on rainy days as well. A rental option could work too. I’d be happy if you might consider it someday. Thank you again for another wonderfully comfortable stay. We have already made our first Reservation for Allamanda Splendid later this year—we’re looking forward to it already.

    I want to visit Shigira Resort again.

    Before our trip to Miyakojima with friends, my spouse and I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days at Shigira Bayside Suite Allamanda to fully enjoy the resort. The grounds are very spacious, with a wide variety of restaurants—everything was delicious, and we ended up indulging a bit too much. The view from the room was wonderful, and my favorite part was soaking in the bath while looking out at the ocean. Above all, everyone on staff—from the front desk onward—was friendly yet professional, making our stay truly comfortable. Because the property is so large, it was also convenient to get around stress-free by shuttle bus. It’s such a big resort that there’s still plenty we haven’t experienced yet, so we’d love to visit again. Next time, I’d like to try golfing as well.

    Unchanged charm

    This was my third stay in three years, and the hospitality remains consistently excellent. This time, the complimentary drinks in the refrigerator were replenished daily, which was an even better service. I look forward to staying again next year.

    Overall cleanliness is an area for improvement.

    I was shocked by the lobby seating we were shown at check-in. The glass table was sticky, and there were two dried-up fries and hair on the floor near our feet. We were served drinks, but I couldn’t bring myself to drink them in that environment. The Room also felt far from the upscale impression I had from the photos. The walls and floors looked generally unclean, and I was especially surprised to find a conspicuous spot of sticky yellow-green residue dried hard right in front of the sink. Just imagining what it might have been made me feel sick. We enjoyed using the outdoor jacuzzi, but the bathtub in the Room had grime that looked like limescale and felt too dirty to use. There were also an excessive number of diffusers placed in the elevator and Shuttle Service vehicle, and the smell really bothered me. After spending one night there, I started to get used to it, but I was disappointed again at breakfast. Every tray we picked up was dirty, so we had to wipe them down with wet towels before using them. The children’s plates all had heavy food residue on them as well, so we used adult plates instead. I felt sorry seeing another guest set aside multiple plates while searching for a clean one. It’s a shame because there was a good variety on the menu. Since it was my first time visiting Miyakojima, I didn’t know typical Hotel pricing when making my Reservation, but I strongly regret not increasing my budget and choosing somewhere else. That said, even reasonably priced Business Hotels these days usually pay attention to cleanliness, so this may be an issue specific to this Hotel. Looking more closely at low-rated Reviews, cleanliness is pointed out repeatedly; although the Hotel replies that they will improve each time, I don’t think it’s realistic to expect major changes.

    We stayed here for o...

    We stayed here for our honeymoon. Since it’s a once-in-a-lifetime trip, we splurged and chose this Hotel, but we ended up feeling very disappointed given our expectations. The Room was in poor condition, and the bathroom blind was especially terrible. Even though we declined Room cleaning at check-in, it seemed someone entered the Room anyway, which suggests a lack of coordination. We also felt the service lacked attention to detail, such as insufficient guidance about parking and explanations about the Room.

    We thoroughly enjoyed Miyakojima.

    Since we stayed during Golden Week, we needed to complete Reservations for meals and activities at least one week in advance, but everything was very comfortable.

    It was a wonderful vacation.

    At check-in, we were offered an upgrade that included access to the pool and lounge, and we paid an additional JPY 70,000. The first Room we were shown had a high-pitched whistling noise coming from the window frame on windy days, so we changed Rooms. We could not use the pool because the temperature did not rise enough. The lounge had a great location and service, and we were satisfied.

    It became an unforgettable memory!

    We stayed here for a family trip. The Room was very spacious, and both our children and my wife were happy with it. Breakfast is a buffet where you can also enjoy Okinawan dishes. The in-room pool is about 100 cm deep, so it may be difficult for small children to play safely, but the Hotel also has a kids’ pool. We would like to stay again.

    "Amid the deep greenery of 20 years"

    Congratulations on your 20th anniversary. Over the past 20 years, the trees and flowers have fully taken root, giving the property a true Asian resort atmosphere. Amid Shigira’s strongly developed feel overall, Allamanda—surrounded by deep greenery—offered a sense of spaciousness and ease that you don’t find in a new Hotel. Even if the Room shows a bit of age in places, it’s very large and residential in style, and you can truly relax in the bath. Feeding the turtles at breakfast was fun too. Next time, I’ll work hard and come back so I can stay in a Room with a pool!

    The staff’s service was mediocre,

    Because it is a 4-star Hotel, we made a Reservation for our first trip to Miyakojima with high expectations. We chose Allamanda thinking our children could enjoy the pool villa. On the day of arrival, we were supposed to check in at the front desk, but no staff came even after 20–30 minutes. We were only offered welcome drinks, which was extremely frustrating. When a staff member finally arrived, they immediately handed us an apology gift, but their attitude was very poor. Also, although we had reserved a stroller in advance, it had not been arranged. We were only told by phone that they would bring it later, and our mood was already ruined from day one. The private pool in our Room had insects floating in it and there were dirty areas here and there, which made us worry whether it had been properly cleaned—so we did not use it at all during our stay. We had been looking forward to enjoying it with our children, but this made us feel we should have chosen a cheaper Plan without a pool villa instead. The children’s pool near the front desk also had various things floating in it; we felt sure it was not being cleaned properly and did not go in. The next day, around 3:30 p.m., housekeeping entered just as we returned from going out and told us they were there to clean. It felt inconsiderate, and the towels also had not been replaced. When we called the front desk, they said cleaning starts at 3:00 p.m., with an attitude that felt like they were snapping back at us. Both the first and second days were just as bad. Breakfast offered many options but tasted average at best; food at an izakaya within walking distance was far better. At checkout as well, we were simply told there would be no further charges and “thank you,” with no sincerity at all. There was a letter from the owner in the Room saying they value hospitality, but this Hotel did not feel that way whatsoever. The sightseeing spots and ocean views outside the Hotel were breathtaking and truly moving; however, this Hotel was by far the worst among those we have stayed at on Okinawa’s main island and Ishigaki Island. We decided we likely will not stay here again—and may not return to Miyakojima either. We regret not choosing Hilton, Tokyu, or Mirage instead.

    May be dangerous for elderly guests.

    I have stayed here every year, but as I’ve gotten older, the bath felt very dangerous. There was nothing to hold onto, and I almost drowned. Also, the blinds are hard to lower, and they are so worn out that you can see through the gaps. Even so, the blinds are raised every time. There is a place to relax, but there is a severe step that I caught my foot on and fell. The design has many areas that feel unsafe for elderly guests. However, the breakfast was the most delicious of any Hotel. All of the staff were very pleasant—thank you very much.

    The Best Resort

    The Room and balcony were spacious, and we could relax while enjoying the ocean view from the jacuzzi. The mini-kitchen was fully equipped with a refrigerator and microwave, and having a washing machine was extremely helpful—we could do laundry right after our activities. We were told the building is old, but it was very well cleaned, the linens felt luxurious and comfortable, and the classic interior had an upscale feel without seeming dated. There were many tropical plants and flowers we had never seen before, all beautifully maintained, and waking up to the sound of so many birds in the morning was truly moving. Most of the staff were from overseas, but everyone always greeted us with a smile, making our stay very comfortable. Breakfast offered a wide variety and was delicious, but on a Multiple Night Stay it was the same each morning—so it would be nice to have options at other Hotels as well. We also loved seeing the sea turtles on-site at the Hotel, and Shigira’s vast setting is outstanding—we would definitely love to return again.

    Strengthen staff training and information sharing

    Overall, the stay was satisfactory; however, we often struggled because staff responses to our questions varied depending on who we spoke with. We would appreciate more consistent communication. We understand that each Hotel is different, but we had hoped for more accurate information about other Hotels—especially regarding dining options, where the information provided was disappointing.

    A spacious Room with...

    A spacious Room with a private pool. The carefully selected amenities were excellent, and the ocean view while soaking in the bath was unforgettable. Not only the Room, but also the entrance and lounge felt luxurious throughout, and outside, vibrant flowers were in bloom—it felt like being in another world. The vanity and showerhead were stylish, but a bit difficult to use, so I initially rated it 4 stars. However, we had such an amazing stay that it more than made up for it, so I changed my rating to 5 stars.

    It’s been a while since I last stayed at Allamanda—I'll definitely be back!

    It was my first time staying at Aramanda in a while. As it has reached its 20th anniversary, the building does show some age, but it is still well maintained, and the Room facing the lagoon with the pool feels wonderfully open. This time I bought the 20th anniversary turtle at the boutique, so I now have the full set. That said, haven’t these amenity turtles gotten smaller compared to before? In any case, we stayed with our dog, and there are not many places that offer Rooms and a Facility where you can be this comfortable together—so we were very satisfied. Even though the pet fee has been revised and lowered, the amenities were still excellent. It was especially nice that both large and small pet sheets were provided—the larger size fit perfectly in the crate. The club lounge also felt more spacious, and the menu seemed more extensive. The breakfast buffet had been upgraded as well; we enjoyed it every day for three days without getting tired of it. We’ve stayed in many places across The whole country, and I used to think buffets were generally nothing special—but this one truly delivered. Since your group also has Doggys Island, I’d love to see you make use of that know-how and add a dog run.

    Very spacious.

    We stayed at Allamanda this time, and the kids really loved the private beach and had a great time. Getting around by the shuttle bus was fairly easy, but it was inconvenient because Allamanda’s parking lot is a bit far away. If the timing works, you can use the Shuttle Service, but I’d still like to see parking closer by. Overall, my grandchildren were happy too, so it was a very good stay.

    I stayed again in the Pool Villa Royal Suite, but it was disappointing.

    This was our repeat stay in the Pool Villa Royal Suite for 3 nights/4 days. Unfortunately, compared with our previous stay, we felt there had been a decline in service (staff quality; the breakfast lounge being limited to a single area for all guests; lounge service; no concierge service; turndown listed but not provided; and poor coordination among staff) as well as inadequate Room maintenance (air conditioner malfunction, TV malfunction, and an old wooden handrail with splinters that felt dangerous). We were very disappointed. In particular, on the third night, the male lounge staff member’s response was extremely rude and arrogant. We had already used the lounge several times over two days and had been able to enter smoothly by showing our room key and room number. However, when we showed our key and explained that the lounge access confirmation card was in our Room, he said loudly, “Some people from rooms that can’t use the lounge try to use it—so it really is in your Room!” A staff member who cannot determine eligibility from our room key is unacceptable. He then added—again loudly in front of other guests—“If you came by cart, please make sure at least one of you does not drink alcohol,” saying he had seen on social media that someone drank alcohol and drove a cart. Did we really look like the kind of people who would do such a thing? It was disrespectful not only to us but also to everyone present. Despite this being our third stay here (and fourth time staying at Shigira), none of the staff seemed to remember us. At breakfast, even though it was crowded, terrace seating was closed off and tables were packed tightly together—it felt like a company cafeteria: rushed and lacking any resort atmosphere. It was also troubling that cats were inside the breakfast area. We requested turndown while we went out for dinner after swimming in our private pool (with towels left out), yet it did not happen even once over three days. Instead, after 9 p.m., while I was bathing at night, someone came to deliver towels. Air conditioner repairs should have been completed before check-in or during daytime hours while guests are out—not in the evening while we are relaxing in the Room. Having an electrician coming in and out meant we could not change into swimwear or get ready for dinner until they finished, wasting valuable time on our trip.

    It was perfect for traveling with kids!

    This was our first stay at Allamanda Suite. The jacuzzi on the balcony was incredibly relaxing, and we also enjoyed a delicious dinner. Feeding the sea turtles became an unforgettable memory for our children. We traveled with two young children and were worried about causing any inconvenience, but all the staff kindly spoke to us, which we truly appreciated. There was also a kids’ pool, so adults could relax by the poolside while keeping an eye on them. Breakfast offered an excellent selection and can be enjoyed even during a Multiple Night Stay. Flowers were blooming throughout the garden, and it felt wonderful to take a walk there. We would love to visit again.

    Honestly, it was the best.

    We stayed one night in a suite Room with a private pool on a family trip. The Room felt a bit dated in places, but it was comfortable and had a great atmosphere. However, there were not many power outlets, so I rated the Facility and amenities 4 stars and hope this will be improved. The staff’s polite service and greetings were very pleasant. Breakfast also had a wide variety of options and was delicious. One night was nowhere near enough, and we would love to come back.

    My First Trip to Miyakojima

    They kindly accommodated various requests, such as changing meal times and making Facility Reservations. The washer-dryer was fantastic. My girlfriend has discovered how great a Resort Hotel can be, so I have a feeling it’ll be hard to go back after this. Sorry for running around in the Room. I couldn’t find where the sea turtles kept at Shigira were, so we’ll come again. Farewell. FanFla was way too much fun.

    When I had some free time, I would go out onto the balcony.

    The four days we stayed were all clear and sunny. Whether it was early morning, daytime, or sunset, the view from the balcony was always beautiful, and the breeze felt wonderful. At night, the sky was filled with stars—not only overhead, but also straight ahead over the ocean, so you could see them even without looking up. We could even spot Betelgeuse and Sirius mentioned in song lyrics. Since it was March, the pool water was too cold to swim in, but taking a bath in the morning while looking out at the sea felt great. For breakfast you can choose between two restaurants—both were so good it’s hard to pick a favorite. It was also nice to stop by the lounge and relax every time we came back to the Hotel after going out. There’s a great selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks as well as juices. At lunchtime there are lots of sweets and delicious breads; at night they also served dishes like braised pork belly and gratin, all very tasty. If you don’t eat much, you could even have dinner at the lounge (though some may find it a bit light). This time we had to Cancel the Reservation for a restaurant we had booked due to a power outage that made The whole country news, so we really appreciated having the lounge. For dinner, Izakaya Subaru was relatively affordable with a lively atmosphere. The resort is huge, but there’s a shuttle bus that makes it easy to get around to different restaurants. You can also make a Reservation at reception—and if you’re wandering around, there are places like pizza or garlic shrimp where you can drop in on impulse. Outside the resort we found a poke shop too, so next time I’d love to stop by for lunch if I get the chance. This trip I didn’t plan daytime activities at all, but one day we rented an e-bike from Shigira Field House and went to Kurima Island; another day we rented a car and enjoyed nearby spots like Kaiho-kan and Marine Park before heading farther out to Ikema Island, Tropical Botanical Garden (Nettai Shokubutsuen), Miyakojima Experience Village (Miyakojima Taiken Mura), and downtown Taira. It was great that they drove us back to our Hotel after returning everything. Younger guests were renting Segways as well. Also—once again I didn’t make it to Ougon Onsen this time either, so I gave Onsen three stars. Next time for sure! Overall this stay couldn’t have been better: perfect weather on our side, feeding sea turtles in front of Lagoon Pool area (the lagoon), and plenty of relaxation rather than nonstop activities—exactly what suited us at this stage of life.

    Second time this year.

    The meals, lounge, self-driving cart, sauna, and heated pool were all great. The Room is a bit dated, but both my husband and son seemed to enjoy their stay. After 10 p.m., the pool lights turned off and it felt a little scary, so it would be nice if guests could turn them on freely.

    A delightful trip that let me rediscover the charm of my beloved Allamanda.

    It had been a while since my last stay at Allamanda, after staying at Shigira Mirage two months ago. Once again, I was reminded that one of the greatest appeals of Shigira Resort is being able to choose the best Hotel and Room to match your group size, travel companions, and purpose. I fully enjoyed the excellence of Mirage at the start of the year, and this time I rediscovered the unique charm that only Allamanda offers. What impressed me most was the view from the 4th floor of the Pool Villa Lagoon Suite. Right in front of me was the beautiful green golf course, beyond it the Miyako-blue sea, and above it all a deep blue sky. Stepping out onto the terrace, I could see the lagoon below along with tropical-style buildings—scenery so extraordinary it made me forget I was in Japan. It also made me realize again just how much this view has soothed me over time. Allamanda’s highly popular breakfast was wonderful as always, and I also loved the newly refreshed lounge—it truly has an appeal you won’t find at other Hotels. And finally, there is still nothing quite like having both the lagoon and sea turtles here. The entrance construction beside the lagoon has been completed, and everything has returned to a beautifully maintained look. Most surprising of all was how stunningly clear and beautiful the lagoon itself had become—the surface sparkled in sunlight, and the sea turtles looked completely at ease as they swam. Simply watching them brought a sense of calm. It was a joyful trip that let me appreciate once again why I love Allamanda so much. I’ve heard that a new wing will open next month, which I’m already very excited about. And since I plan to visit again after Golden Week, I’m looking forward to returning here once more.

    Your First Visit to Shigira Resort

    I stayed at Shigira Resort, which has several Hotels spread across a vast property. I wasn’t sure which one to choose, but I decided on this private cottage Hotel because you can see sea turtles. It was even more comfortable and relaxing than I expected. I was thrilled to see not just one but several turtles—and even got to feed them. One thing that stood out was that a very bright light in an otherwise scenic area stayed on until late at night. It didn’t match the atmosphere of the location, and it would have been perfect if it had been placed somewhere out of view from this Hotel.
