    This is my second ti...

    This is my second time staying at Kaze no Tani no Iori Ten no Maru Annex. I stayed during this season last time as well and received warm hospitality. Meals were served in the room, with freshly fried tempura prepared right in front of me for dinner, offering a luxurious experience. Breakfast featured an array of exquisite dishes unique to a Ryokan, all of which were delicious. I reserved the sauna at night and enjoyed it along with the jacuzzi, which was very satisfying. The peaceful and relaxing time spent amidst nature was truly priceless. I look forward to staying again when the opportunity arises!

    A Memorable Anniversary in a Hidden Paradise

    I stayed at this accommodation to celebrate my husband's birthday. The meals were incredibly delicious, and I was impressed by the freshly fried tempura prepared right in front of us. Additionally, the seasonal dessert crafted with care by the chef was delightful. This time, it was freshly made "drinkable warabi mochi." The guest room was excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed the onsen experience. The beer and mandarin orange wine served at the night lounge were also exquisite. The staff provided attentive service, making our stay very pleasant and satisfying. I would love to stay here again in the future. Thank you very much!

    Exquisite service for a blissful experience

    From the moment of arrival, we were greeted with warm smiles from the staff and experienced exceptional service throughout our stay. It was a blissful experience. We are grateful for the thoughtful gestures during dinner to celebrate a retirement milestone and at checkout. Both breakfast and dinner were served in the Room, allowing us to enjoy local ingredients beautifully presented on elegant tableware. The freshly fried tempura prepared before our eyes and the skillful demonstration of cutting hamo bones were delightful with clear explanations.

    The in-room dining was excellent.

    The in-room dining was excellent, and the detached room was very comfortable. However, we were surprised to encounter horseflies twice in the open-air bath of the room (we evacuated, but one landed on my knee and ended up wandering into the room, which was quite frightening). Although the accommodation staff helped by dealing with some of them on the deck, I believe further measures are necessary. While it may be due to natural phenomena or extreme heat, it would be helpful to alert guests or install glass doors (any feasible solution would suffice). Horsefly bites can cause significant swelling. I mentioned this to the staff at the end of our stay but felt they didn’t fully understand my concern, which was disappointing. That said, it was a very lovely accommodation overall.

    This is the No.1 accommodation I keep returning to. Enjoy meals leisurely in your room and engaging conversations with the staff. Relax and unwind in the onsen. Meeting the familiar staff always warms my heart. I look forward to visiting again, thank you!

    Excellent

    I have stayed at various accommodations before, but the time I spent at this accommodation was the most pleasant. The location (the secluded feeling in the forest is amazing), the meals (tempura freshly fried right in front of you for in-room dining!), and the onsen open-air bath were all exceptional. I was able to relax luxuriously. I will definitely visit again!

    A very comfortable accommodation

    This was my first stay at this accommodation. The hospitality and service were exceptional, making it a wonderful experience. I stayed alone, but since the room included in-room dining and an open-air bath, I was able to relax comfortably without any concerns. I would love to stay here again. Even though I didn’t mention anything, there was a surprise birthday gesture during breakfast from the accommodation, where they served me fruits and chiffon cake. They thoughtfully ensured that the breakfast wasn’t too heavy on the stomach, which deeply touched me with their considerate hospitality. It turned out to be a very satisfying two-day, one-night trip—thank you so much! Because of such thoughtful care provided by this accommodation, I would highly recommend it to my friends as well.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    We enjoyed listening to the chirping of birds in the forest and relaxing in the Onsen. Upon arrival, we took a walk and had a wonderful time surrounded by nature. For meals, we were served freshly fried tempura right in front of us, and trying abalone liver tempura for the first time was truly impressive. Conversations with the staff were delightful, making our stay even more enjoyable. We're considering visiting again during the autumn foliage season!

    There are mites present.

    I was bitten by mites over 10 times on my side, possibly from the sofa or the bed—I’m not sure which. This has never happened to me before. It was a particularly warm day, so it seems the mites became active, making me question the regular cleaning practices. The bathroom tiles are dark-colored, which makes it hard to notice, but there was black mold present. This was supposed to be the best Room available, so I am extremely disappointed. I strongly request improvements for future guests.

    On the Mountain

    The hotel is located on a mountain. The detached rooms are down the slope. The shuttle service was very helpful. There are several monuments along the slope, making it enjoyable to take a walk while exploring them. Meals were served in the room, allowing for a relaxing experience. The freshly fried tempura prepared right in front of us was delicious. Unfortunately, the ceramic bath didn’t retain heat well during the cold March nights, and it took time for the water to reach a comfortable temperature. Although it was a semi-open-air bath, having consistently warm water would have been ideal. I’m not sure about other rooms though...

    The staff was excellent.

    It was our first time staying at this accommodation, and the staff member who attended to us was very charming, energetic, and pleasant, making us feel warm and relaxed as a couple. During dinner, they shared enjoyable stories with us, allowing us to have a wonderful time! Thank you so much. The tempura was fried right in front of us—truly impressive! The gentleman in charge also kindly explained the ingredients. We would love to visit again! We stayed in the "Ruri" room, which was spotless and beautifully maintained. The temperature of the open-air bath was just right! If it weren’t for the trees in front of it, we could have enjoyed a view of the night scenery from the bath—I thought that would be lovely! There was an irori (traditional Japanese hearth), so if it’s usable during colder seasons, we’d like to visit again in winter. We had such a wonderful time.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    The food was delicious.

    The room, cuisine, and staff service at the annex were excellent. However, the main building staff seemed condescending. We were kept waiting for the Shuttle Service to the large public bath and ended up walking back out of frustration. The difference in customer service between the main building and annex was so stark it felt like they were run by separate companies. Even in the lounge, which was supposed to offer all-you-can-drink services, there was no beer in the server and limited options available. When we raised concerns, it felt like we were being blamed for not knowing how to use it properly, which came across as unnecessarily sharp. While I understand they may have been busy, a more pleasant attitude would have made a big difference. It’s unfortunate because their thoughtful gestures like providing flowers for anniversaries or taking commemorative photos showed great attention to detail but fell short due to these issues.

    I had a relaxing time.

    I stayed in the Theater Room. Thanks to the IKYU special offer, I was able to enjoy a private stone sauna and relax. Additionally, the open-air bath in the room was spacious, with a separate washing area, making it very convenient and comfortable. The meals were meticulously prepared dish by dish, and the tempura especially brought out the natural flavors of the ingredients—it was absolutely delicious. Overall, it was a relaxing stay where I could unwind at my own pace. The staff who assisted us were all very pleasant and welcoming. When I wrote about our wedding anniversary on the check-in sheet, they surprised us with a cake plate, which became a wonderful memory for us. My daughter had been wanting to visit this Theater Room since during the pandemic, so it was like fulfilling her wish; however, unfortunately, we found that lowering the screen was difficult, its resolution wasn’t great, and instead of streaming services being available as we expected, only DVDs or Blu-rays that we brought ourselves could be watched. Still—the Onsen and food were excellent enough to make up for it! This has become one of my favorite accommodations that I’d love to visit again someday. Thank you very much!

    We were looking forward to enjoying a relaxing meal in the room, but it was disappointing that we couldn't order alcohol because the prices were too high. Asahi bottled beer was 1,650 yen (sigh).

    Provide service worthy of an "Anniversary Concierge."

    The concierge service did not meet expectations for a special and unique proposal, as the offerings were limited to general items such as a bouquet, celebratory decorations, photos, and cake. Additionally, the celebratory bouquet was wilted and had to be returned. There were also multiple instances of delays in handling orders and shuttle service arrangements, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the sauna and open-air bath facilities were excellent, and the in-room dining options like tempura were satisfying. However, due to high expectations for concierge services, the level of customer service is rated low.

    The most wonderful retreat in the forest

    It was my first visit, and it was a wonderful property surrounded by trees where you can enjoy a forest bath. The onsen open-air bath and the room were spacious, and dining in the room was simply the best. The chef's tempura is exquisite! I am grateful for their thoughtfulness in cutting it into small pieces to make it easier for my elderly mother to eat. The fresh vegetables, seafood, and tender Mikawa beef were also very delicious. I was happy to be able to choose between Japanese and Western breakfast options, and the Inari sushi for a late-night snack had a gentle taste. I was truly impressed by the excellent service with gifts like rock baths and jacuzzis for Diamond members, sake presents, as well as celebrations for my mother. I will make a reservation soon so that I can visit again in the near future. Looking forward to that day! Thank you very much.

    Floor heating!

    This is my third visit. I felt the hospitality with the heated bathroom floor, and the food was delicious and could be enjoyed leisurely in the room (though the portion was a bit small for someone with a big appetite like me). There were many other good points, but one disappointing aspect. Probably because, except for the suites, it is not a standalone building but connected to the next room, the "thud" sound of the door closing in the adjacent room echoed here. Especially when this happens at night, it slightly diminishes the experience of the excellent dinner (particularly the incredibly delicious freshly fried tempura) and the bath. How about installing a soft-close mechanism for the sliding doors? In any case, it is undoubtedly a property I would like to revisit.

    Wedding Anniversary

    This was my second stay. Since my weekend plans suddenly opened up, I made a Reservation on the same day through IKYU. Upon arrival, I was welcomed in the lobby with a drink and enjoyed a refreshing herbal tea! From there, I was guided to the Room (Mashiro). The dining area and changing room had underfloor heating, making it comfortable even on a cold day. The Room had plenty of outlets, allowing me to work smoothly on my laptop. The portions for both dinner and breakfast were just right, and I was able to finish everything. Everything was delicious. Two sets of Room wear were provided, along with two bath towels each, which was very satisfying. The temperature and water flow of the Onsen were always just right and comfortably warm every time I used it. I will definitely want to repeat my stay here!

    Healing Stays

    Year-end stay. Relaxed with a private rock bath, enjoyed dinner served in the room with freshly fried tempura and luxurious Japanese cuisine, and unwound in the open-air bath, feeling perfectly rejuvenated until breakfast the next day. If I had to mention, it was a bit disappointing that the TV couldn't be watched from the bed. We were celebrated with a special dish and flowers for our wedding anniversary. I would love to repeat the experience.

    A relaxing journey that makes you forget the passage of time

    Everything (breakfast, lunch, dinner, bath) can be completed in the room. The living room and dressing room have underfloor heating, allowing us to spend warm and cozy time. The staff were kind, and we never had an unpleasant experience. The quality of the open-air bath in the room was excellent, and we could feel the warmth long after the bath. We definitely want to stay again. The reason for giving four stars for the onsen, bath, and meals is that although we stayed for a multiple night stay, the onsen water was the same for two days. We wished the water would be changed daily. As for the meals, having the same set meal for two consecutive days felt a bit monotonous. In the case of a multiple night stay, the property often contacts guests regarding meals and proposes different options, but that was not the case here. Even if an additional charge is required, we would have preferred to have a kaiseki meal and a set meal on alternate days.

    I stayed alone, but ...

    I stayed alone, but everyone I interacted with had a smile, so I was able to have a pleasant stay. (Even the person who made the tempura!) When I casually mentioned that I would be retiring next year, I was surprised and touched to receive sweets and a certificate during dinner. Just one thing, I wished there was a glass of wine available with the meal. However, even without that, it was the perfect reward for myself. Thank you very much.

    The view is the only disappointment.

    This is a detached hotel located on the summit, prominently visible from the city of Gamagori. It is situated slightly down in the forest from the main building, and a shuttle service is provided from the lobby building. The room is a trendy modern Japanese style, maintaining a decor that matches the price without being too cheap. It was a room with a sunken hearth, and the layout was user-friendly, clean, and comfortable. The highlight is the cuisine. The ingredients were carefully selected, and it was wonderful to enjoy freshly fried tempura right in front of you. The breakfast, both Japanese and Western, was elaborate and delicious. It's rare to find a ryokan that serves such exquisite Western cuisine. I felt the chef's skills were quite impressive. If I may add a wish, given the chef's remarkable skills, it would be great if the appetizers and hors d'oeuvres for dinner could be a bit more substantial. Also, being located at the summit, the view from the main building was spectacular, but it was unfortunate that this could not be experienced from the detached building.

    Five-star Detached Guest Room with Irori Type

    Despite the heavy rain caused by the typhoon, we managed to reach the Stays by climbing the mountain path. A female staff member welcomed us, drenched as well. The annex is about a 10-minute walk from the lounge building and the main building, but we were grateful for the shuttle service by car in the rain. The annex is very stylish, and when you open the shoji screens in the room's open-air bath, it feels like you're bathing in the forest. I've experienced open-air baths connected to the sea and those with great views, but this was my first time feeling the forest. My daughter was delighted with the ReFa hairdryer, and I was pleased with the flowers floating in the open-air bath. The dinner was more about quality than quantity, as the name suggests. It was very beautiful and delicious. The freshly fried tempura prepared by the chef right in front of us in the room was exceptional. Although it wasn't a special celebratory trip, as my husband's birthday was two days prior, they kindly prepared a bouquet and dessert for us. The next day was sunny, and the view from the open-air bath on the 4th floor of the main building was lovely, as was the panoramic view from the large public bath in the basement. Another guest informed us that you can see the sunrise from there. I was happy to choose between Japanese and Western breakfast. We could also borrow yukata and pajamas, and there were even nail and aroma services. Incense was also provided. There were charming objects placed here and there, such as paintings in the room and along the walking paths, adding a lot of charm. The guest rooms were, of course, wonderful, but the meticulous attention to detail and presentation made this Property outstanding.
