    We were able to relax in a quiet setting surrounded by nature. The spacious open-air bath attached to the Room was very comfortable, and we could unwind in the Onsen water. The amenities (especially ReFa) were excellent. We also enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in the Room at a leisurely pace with our family.

    Time always seems to fly by.

    This time, we added tempura. We ordered the chef’s choice, and everything was delicious. They fry it right in front of you, so it looks great, and being able to eat it fresh right away really lifted our spirits!! It had been very hot lately, but on the day we stayed it was a bit calmer. In the evening we took a leisurely stroll, and when the breeze came through the shade of the trees it felt cool and pleasant. We’d love to come back again as soon as possible.

    Night Sounds

    At night, you can faintly hear insects chirping and the gentle sound of soaking in the Onsen... As always, it’s incredibly soothing.

    I used this for a celebration for my parents.

    We stayed here to celebrate my parents’ birthdays. Every staff member was courteous and helpful. We were also offered welcome drinks upon arrival. The Room was thoroughly cleaned and felt very fresh and comfortable. However, there are many steep slopes around the area, so it seemed difficult for my elderly parents to take a walk nearby. The food was excellent from start to finish. We were especially surprised by the performance of frying tempura right in front of us, and the freshly fried tempura was outstanding. Since we had requested a celebration for my parents, they also arranged photo-taking and a dessert plate, which made my parents very happy. It was a little disappointing that the lounge was only available until 10:00 PM. Overall, this was an Accommodation with a very high level of satisfaction. We would love to stay again.

    I visited on a refreshing getaway.

    I visited on one of my twice-a-year refresh trips. Because it’s in the mountains and there aren’t many guests (the main building also has a limited number of Rooms), it was very quiet and comfortable. The Room felt like a blend of old and new. Anything that would have been inconvenient as-is had been improved, while what could be kept was left intact, so I could enjoy the charm of its age while still staying comfortably. The service was courteous, and with in-Room dining, it reminded me, “Oh right—this is what Ryokan used to feel like.” These days, even luxury Ryokan often serve meals in semi-private (or private) dining rooms, so having meals in the Room was really nice. The food seemed to focus mainly on local ingredients and was kept fairly simple. It wasn’t overly plain, but it also wasn’t overcomplicated— I even told the staff serving us, “Here, you can actually understand the menu.” Some places serve dishes with names like “XX with XX in XX sauce served with XX”; they may taste good, but you end up wondering what it really is. Here, you can roughly imagine the flavors from the description—and then it turns out even better than expected, which made the meal fun and pleasantly surprising. There were a few minor points I noticed, but most don’t seem easy to fix (haha). * The road is narrow and driving looks difficult, so I feel bad asking for Shuttle Service up to the top. * Since it’s summer in the mountains (which I understood going in), there are quite a few insects. I think those two are hard to address. * The night lounge has limited soft drink options. If one person drinks alcohol and the other doesn’t, naturally one ends up choosing soft drinks—but compared with what was available while waiting at check-in, it felt like fewer choices. Since you highlight local ingredients so well, local juices would have been a nice option too. Overall though—Room, service, food—I truly had no complaints. I think this is an excellent Accommodation.

    It felt like paradise.

    This Accommodation felt like a secluded hideaway on the mountaintop. It was so quiet that all I could hear were birds, and the sense of openness in the semi-open-air bath was incredible—perfect for fully escaping everyday life. The meals were outstanding in presentation and taste, and watching the tempura being fried right in front of me was a great touch. I was extremely satisfied. They also accommodated a change to the dining course, which was truly exceptional service—thank you very much. For breakfast I chose the Japanese set, and it featured plenty of wholesome ingredients while still tasting wonderful. The mountain road on the way there can be a little intimidating if you’re not used to driving, but personally I enjoyed the drive. I was able to fully savor an extraordinary getaway on my own—an excellent Accommodation with nothing to complain about. I visited in early summer this time, but I’d love to return again during a cooler season.

    It was disappointing.

    Honestly, it was disappointing. As the Reviews said, there wasn’t much food and it felt insufficient. My 87-year-old mother lamented that there was too little. The tempura fried in our Room was very delicious. As the Reviews said, both the samue and yukata were small and uncomfortable to wear. We requested the Shuttle Service; on the way there they drove slowly up the hill, but on the way back they drove downhill at twice the legal speed limit, which was very frightening. It felt disappointing for the price.

    An Accommodation You’ll Never Tire of Visiting Again and Again

    This is my 15th stay, and it’s an Accommodation I return to again and again. I always look forward to the meals, but when I soak in the private open-air bath in the room, the sounds of insects, birds fluttering their wings, and even the faint sound of cars in the distance at night all feel soothing. I truly enjoy the luxury of doing nothing. Thank you again for this stay.

    Relax and unwind.

    I was able to relax again this time. I enjoyed the open-air bath so many times I lost count, and I always look forward to soaking in it while taking in the fresh air of nature. I keep thinking, “Someday I’ll spend time in the lounge…,” but every time I end up relaxing in my Room instead.

    It was the best one-night stay!

    A wide variety of delicious meals—fun to look at, too! The tableware was lovely, and the service was very attentive, making our stay truly comfortable. The tempura fried for us in the Room was piping hot and amazing! The in-room bath has a heat-retention function, so you can soak anytime—no problem even if it rains! We didn’t make a Reservation for the stone sauna because it was a bit far from our Room, but the in-room bath was more than enough!! This is an Accommodation we’d definitely love to return to!!

    Relax and unwind

    This was our first stay. We truly enjoyed a relaxing, unhurried luxury of both mind and time. The underfloor heating in the Room felt wonderful, and we savored the delicious meals made with a strong commitment to locally sourced ingredients. As we are both left-handed, we were genuinely delighted to see that the spoon and fork for dessert had been thoughtfully placed on the left—thank you for your warm and considerate attention. (It’s a small detail that only left-handed people would notice...) In the morning, we woke to the song of Japanese bush warblers, and even while soaking in the open-air bath, we could keep listening to them. We had an incredible moment that felt as if time had stopped. Thank you very much. We would love to visit again. (Sorry for leaving some natto...)

    This was my 13th stay, and it has become the Accommodation I return to most. I was truly happy to be welcomed with warm smiles, to enjoy freshly fried tempura prepared with such care, and to share a delightful time listening to your stories while the dishes were served. I’m deeply grateful for your heartfelt hospitality. When I happened to look outside, I could sense the scent of spring, and soaking leisurely in the Onsen helped soothe my everyday fatigue. These days, many Accommodations are run by systems, but they often feel impersonal and lonely—and I’ve seen quite a few like that. At this Accommodation, each staff member is thoughtful in their own way, and it makes me feel, “I want to come back!” and “I’ll do my best at work starting tomorrow!” There are Accommodations that cost more and those that cost less—but is expensive always better? Is inexpensive always worse? That’s not how I think. What matters most to me is whether an Accommodation feels comfortable—and this truly is a wonderful one. In an age when there are fewer places in Japan that feel like you can say “I’m home,” this Accommodation is precious—and one I hope to continue visiting. I travel domestically about twice a month, and this is my absolute favorite. Thank you very much.

    We had a wonderful time.

    We stayed as a family. The meals were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, and the tempura fried right in front of us was both fun to watch and wonderful to eat. In addition, the chef even came to see us off when we left, and our attendant handled everything—from serving to clearing away—pleasantly and smoothly. There were also some surprises, and we were truly satisfied with everything. Of course, we also thoroughly enjoyed the baths.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    I stayed here to relax and enjoy the Onsen at my own pace, meeting my son locally. The view from the in-room semi-open-air bath was outstanding. Even though meals were served in the room, they prepared fried dishes right in front of us, and everything was delicious. As it was my birthday this month, they also celebrated for me, which made it a wonderful memory. Thank you very much.

    Time flew by in an instant.

    From the moment we arrived and were guided to our Room until we left, everything was handled with great care and left a very positive impression. Even though it was February, it was warm during the day, so we were able to take a walk before dinner. The weather was great, and the night view was beautiful. The food looked and tasted excellent, and the tempura fried right in front of us was especially good. Next time, I’d like to order extra tempura and really enjoy it.

    A Welcoming Accommodation

    After letting the property know in advance that we would be traveling with an elderly guest, they kindly accommodated us with a Room change and thoughtful touches throughout, such as handrails at the entrance and floor chairs. Thanks to their consideration, we had a very comfortable stay. We enjoyed in-room dining at a spacious table, including tempura fried right in front of us. The local fish, beef, and vegetables were all delicious, with a wide variety of dishes that especially suited our tastes. The Room also had an open-air Onsen bath; after warming up thoroughly, enjoying a beer on the deck while taking in the night view was pure bliss. I did wish there were some gentle walking paths or gardens nearby—somewhere not too steep for an easy stroll in the evening or early morning. It may be difficult due to the terrain, but if a forest-style walking trail is created in the future, I would love to return. It became a wonderful commemorative trip for us. Thank you very much for your thoughtful hospitality.

    The staff were very kind and welcoming.

    Thank you for accommodating my dietary preferences during the meals. Although one of the substituted breakfast items was placed incorrectly, causing a brief moment of surprise, I truly appreciated the exceptional service provided by all the staff. The open-air bath is not fully enclosed, making it quite cold in mid-winter. Additionally, as the bath temperature cannot be adjusted directly from within, finding an ideal temperature can be challenging. I look forward to visiting again during a more temperate season.

    Is the review true?

    I was excited to arrive at the ryokan, but the service did not match the price. After a rushed explanation, I was shown to my room, which was damp and had insects, making me worried about my stay. The meals were also not worth the cost. Although it was stated that Diamond members would receive a 300ml bottle of Kunizakari Junmai Ginjo (Handa-go) as a gift, I received it only after checkout. When I tried to open it on-site, I was told to enjoy opening it at home instead. However, upon opening it at home, I found an unnamed Honjozo sake instead—it felt like being deceived. If they were out of stock, they should have informed me on-site. It’s puzzling how this place maintains its high ranking with such practices. During my previous stay at their sister property using SGDS services, even basic amenities like toothbrushes were unavailable and sold for an additional fee—this came as a shock! Since then, I've made sure to check amenities beforehand.

    I had a relaxing time.

    I was surprised that the shuttle service took us directly to the room, and the monuments along the way kept it interesting and enjoyable for a walk. Staying in a private accommodation where we could enjoy all our meals was incredibly relaxing. The food was delicious, and having tempura freshly fried right in front of us was amazing. The shower room had floor heating, so it wasn’t cold at all. I even considered completing my next reservation before leaving! Thank you for everything! I’ll definitely come back!

    Excellent

    Traveling is my only hobby, and I especially love Onsen trips. This accommodation is undoubtedly top-class. The food was elaborate and delicious. The freshly fried tempura was excellent, and I had the chance to enjoy spiny lobster for the first time in a while—it was so plump and juicy. We were blessed with good weather and could see a sky full of stars. Both the service and cuisine were outstanding. The lovely jazz music in the lounge until 9:45 PM was very soothing as well. Thank you so much! It might be unavoidable, but I wish the lounge hours were a bit longer for even more relaxation.

    Accommodation for Celebrating Your 25th Wedding Anniversary

    In one word, I was deeply moved by the service of the staff. From guidance to dining service, every kind and gentle word brought me happiness. The room was impeccably clean, the bath was spotless, and the meals were perfectly portioned with excellent taste. Although it was a luxurious accommodation, the level of service provided matched its quality, leaving me completely satisfied as I headed home.     I had a restful sleep.

    I chose this facility nearby for a weekday getaway and was more than satisfied with the services provided. The facility focuses on promoting restful sleep, offering amenities such as pillows, beds, incense, and music CDs for relaxation. Meals were also designed to support better sleep. Even decaffeinated coffee was thoughtfully prepared. Meals are one of the highlights here; portions were just right for middle-aged guests, with a well-balanced menu that also considered allergies. The Onsen experience in the private open-air bath in the room was impeccable, including all amenities provided. However, the distance to the large public bath was quite far. Although Shuttle Service is available, I hesitated to use it this time. That said, I enjoyed using the stone sauna as part of my Diamond Member benefits and found it very satisfying. The hospitality and refined conversations from staff made every moment of my stay meaningful and enjoyable. This trip was spontaneous, but I believe visiting again for a special occasion would make it even more memorable. It’s definitely a facility I’d like to return to!

    The layout of the Room was a bit disappointing, but

    The room was spacious, open, and very lovely. The food was also extremely delicious, and my whole family was very satisfied. However, this time I made the Reservation to let my parents in their 80s enjoy the Onsen after a long time, so it was unfortunate that there was no toilet on the second floor where the bedroom is located. Considering the concern of them going down the stairs alone at night to use the toilet, we decided to have them sleep on the sofa in the living room. The sofa was large enough for both of them to stretch out their legs and sleep comfortably, but I felt disappointed that they couldn't sleep on futons despite bringing them here for a special experience. If I had known in advance that there wasn’t a toilet on the second floor, perhaps I could have requested a Room change... Other than that, we were all delighted with your attentive service and kind staff. Thank you very much!

    Ultimate relaxation!

    I stayed with my female friend. The room was clean and in a separate building, allowing us to freely talk about work and hobbies without worrying about others. The Onsen with an open-air bath was amazing, as we could enjoy it anytime with floating Cattleya flowers. It was absolutely perfect! Of course, the meals were exceptional both in the morning and evening. The tempura served in the tatami room was delicious!

    It was a Ryokan that...

    It was a Ryokan that makes you want to visit again. I stayed with someone who has difficulty walking, and even though we didn’t inform them in advance, there was a chair in the shower room that made it easier to stand up! I thought this was an amazing level of service. The meals were excellent, especially the freshly fried tempura served right in front of us. The dessert—chilled zenzai warabi mochi—was absolutely exquisite! It’s a unique treat you can only experience at this Ryokan. The staff, food, and room were all very satisfying at this Ryokan. I deducted one star for amenities because I wished there had been a body towel provided.
