    The meals are delicious.

    The meals were very delicious, and the Onsen was great. It would have been more relaxing if there had been a sofa in the Room.

    Exceeds expectations...

    It was great. The semi-open-air bath in the Room was very relaxing. The meals were even more delicious than expected, and my mother, who I brought along, was deeply impressed. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

    The Room and the ope...

    The Room and the open-air bath were spacious and clean. It was disappointing that the welcome drink and morning café service were self-service.

    I had a relaxing time.

    My husband and I were looking for a relaxing place nearby and decided to stay at this Ryokan, which had excellent reviews. We were provided with shuttle service from Kinugawa-Koen Station, and upon arrival at the accommodation, several staff members warmly welcomed us with smiles despite the late hour. The interior of the Ryokan featured high ceilings, creating a spacious and calming atmosphere. The view of the Kinugawa River from our room was truly breathtaking. The open-air bath had an abundant water flow, perfect temperature, and was absolutely amazing—we enjoyed it multiple times. Meals were served in a private room, offering plenty of privacy. We had a leisurely time chatting about simple things while enjoying our meal. The cheerful smiles of the staff added to our relaxation. The large number of staff members with their wonderful smiles left a lasting impression on us. This is definitely an accommodation we would love to visit again!

    The best accommodation!

    I have stayed in Kinugawa Onsen multiple times. This time, I chose Bettei Sasane, which I had wanted to visit for a while. Although I hesitated after reading the reviews, I'm glad I came! Staff service: Excellent. Cuisine: Excellent. Private open-air bath in the room: Excellent. Above all, it’s quiet since it’s slightly away from the onsen town, making it an ideal accommodation for adults to relax without loud noises. The room was clean and well-maintained as well. If possible in the future... please consider upgrading to semi-double beds and extending check-out time to 11:00! I will make another reservation and stay again!

    The worst Ryokan experience ever.

    Unfortunately, this was the worst accommodation experience of my life. The only aspects that matched the price were the impressive lobby and garden. It felt like their priority was profit over customer satisfaction, with no consideration for guests' feelings—if anything, it was negative. I spoke with the manager, but they explained that the charges were for facility usage only and seemed completely uninterested in providing joy, memories, stories, time, or emotions during a guest's journey. Thanks to their behavior and lack of hospitality from check-in onward, it turned into an extremely frustrating and unpleasant experience. The temperature of the room's bath was low as mentioned in other reviews; since it was winter, I had to keep adding hot water just to make it usable. The heavy faucet would stop running almost immediately after pressing it down—keeping it pressed felt like a workout session rather than relaxation. The one saving grace was a local woman serving meals who had a lovely smile and provided a brief moment of comfort. I love Kinugawa and Oku-Nikko areas dearly; however, I deeply regret choosing this place for such an important occasion. The worst one ever!!

    This Property offers delicious meals.

    I always make a Reservation for accommodations through IKYU. Often, I receive tea or dessert as a welcome treat during check-in, but this time there was nothing, which was a bit disappointing. Also, the stay duration is from 3 PM to 10 AM, but if either could be extended by an hour, I think it would allow for a more relaxing time in the Onsen. What stood out this time was the meal. The presentation was beautiful, the flavors were subtle, and it was very delicious. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Perfect for solo travelers.

    I planned to go on a weekday (Friday) and used a plan for one person. The room was clean and was the smallest room, but I think it was spacious enough for two people. The onsen in the room does not have the bathtub outside, so even in relatively cold seasons, you can close the window to keep the washing area warm. The only downside I thought was the lighting in the washroom. It's slightly dim. However, I thought it might be considerate of the distant lights of the houses across the Kinugawa River. There are blinds on the window. Meals were in a private room, and although I could hear some conversations, I was able to enjoy it without any reservations. The amount of food was slightly too much for me, but it was beautifully presented and very delicious. As for access, I was very grateful to be provided with a shuttle service to Kinugawa Onsen Station on the day of departure. Since there are few trains stopping at Kinugawa Koen Station, I would appreciate it if they could also pick me up at Kinugawa Onsen Station on the day of arrival. The staff seemed to be mostly young, but they left a good impression with their proper service. I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity. Thank you very much.

    Perfect Stays for so...

    Perfect Stays for solo travelers. During the stay, there was no interference from anyone (such as property staff or noise from other guests), and the cleaning of the room and common areas was thorough, with a nice view from the room. I had a comfortable time. The large public bath was personally a bit lukewarm, but the guest room bath allowed for temperature adjustment (high-temperature source water was added. Even without doing this, a generous amount of water was added. I was surprised by the abundance of water at Kinugawa Onsen) and was satisfying. The meals were delicious. Not only was the taste excellent, but the dishes were served at an optimal temperature. Furthermore, the dining area overlooked a courtyard garden (I didn't notice this during dinner), where you could enjoy the scenery of visiting wild birds (although the property couldn't identify the bird's name, it was a small bird with a bush warbler color, offering a taste of early spring scenery). Personally, it was a pity there was no snow, but I would like to visit again during the cold season.

    Isn't a renovation necessary?? With that room, I don't think "I want to go again!"... Unfortunately... That quality for that price?? It's disappointing... It's one station from Kinugawa Onsen, but the transportation is inconvenient. There are few trains... The service from foreign staff is pleasant, but the young Japanese male staff???

    Cannot relax in the Room

    Even upon arrival, the facility remained dark with no explanation about the lounge with books. I chose a Western-style Room because it was difficult to get up from the tatami due to knee and back pain, but the chair was awkwardly low, making it hard to sit, and there was no sofa, cushion, or zabuton to relax with friends. The staff who guided us said they would carry the luggage but handed me the suitcase with casters. I found the mesh bag for the large bath just before leaving. They just said the words written in the script and left. The price range is not cheap, so I don't think just having a semi-open-air bath and increasing the number of dishes is enough. When I sent the luggage, I bought a box, but the next morning, there was an external staircase to the main building, and even though my friend and I were flustered, they didn't offer any help or assistance, which was very disappointing. Hospitality is just a little bit of thoughtfulness and service, so it would be nice if they could brighten the areas where guests pass and pay attention to the scenery visible from the Room, as well as consider the age group when preparing the Room.

    I was able to relax very much.

    We were able to spend a relaxing time in the spacious and comfortable room. The room's bath, with its abundant flow of hot spring water, was also wonderful. If the meal portions could be adjusted for seniors, we might have been able to finish the final shabu-shabu. The taste was delicious, and the dishes were lovely, so it was a bit of a shame. It was a very nice property, and my 90-year-old mother was delighted. Thank you very much.

    Second use

    Since I was staying with my elderly parents, I requested a room with an open-air bath, and this was my second time using the property. I have also stayed in the main building before, but I thought it was luxurious to be able to use the room's open-air bath at any time of the day. It happened to be my parents' wedding anniversary on the day of our stay, so I mentioned it in an email when I requested a shuttle service to the station, but there was no mention of it during our stay. When I previously stayed in the main building and informed them in advance that it was a birthday or other special occasion, they showed consideration, so I was a bit disappointed as I thought they might mention it. As for the meals in the morning and evening, I felt that the number of dishes was a bit lacking, so I ended up having seconds of rice. I had the impression that I would have liked to enjoy a few more delicious dishes since it was a special occasion. Also, I actually wanted to return to the room after breakfast to enjoy the room's open-air bath before preparing to leave, but the time until the 10 a.m. checkout was not enough, and it felt a bit rushed. I felt that it would have been even better if the checkout was at 11 a.m. I was able to spend a relaxing time in a quiet space, so I would definitely like to stay again.     Third stay

    This is my third stay. Compared to the last time (about 3 years ago), I thought the food had become more delicious. The explanation of the meal was given by a foreign staff member, but I couldn't understand it, so I didn't know what to put on what to eat. However, they were earnest, polite, and their demeanor was graceful. There were two short hairs on the sink before use. Also, the white bucket and walls of the guest room's open-air bath were dirty. I think these can be cleaned with bleach or something similar. Overall, I think it's a good inn where you can hear the sound of the river from the room and enjoy delicious meals, so I hope they put more effort into cleaning.

    The terrible service of the foreign staff

    When we were guided to the room by a foreign staff member, we were asked to take off our shoes before stepping up at the entrance, but the explanation of the room was given while wearing shoes, which made me feel uncomfortable and ruined the start of our long-awaited trip. Additionally, the explanation of the food was not properly given, and our requests were ignored. The room was clean, but the air conditioner had a lot of mold, and it was a type where you could see inside, so the dirt was quite noticeable from the outside as well. Paying around 100,000 yen for such service is truly infuriating. I thought they should stop operating if they cannot maintain proper training and cleanliness. I had high expectations. The breakfast did not feel homemade either. I would really like to give a negative score for the service.
