    The Fishing Pond Plan is the best.

    I stayed here for the first time because they offered a Plan where the fish you catch at the fishing pond is served at dinner. I’ve stayed in Shirahama Onsen several times, but there aren’t many places that will cook your catch, so I really appreciated this Plan. Their coordination with the fishing pond was excellent—when we arrived, the application form was already prepared, and we could start fishing right away without bringing anything. They also packed our fish in a foam cooler with ice, and we checked in to the Hotel as-is. At dinner, two of the three fish we caught were prepared as sashimi and fried chicken-style, and we were able to take the remaining one home (thank you very much to the head chef). Our Room was No. 603 on the Royal Floor, with Shirarahama Beach right in front—an unbeatable location. The Room had a table with four chairs plus a sofa, and it was spacious and comfortable. My wife also said the washroom area was large, bright, and easy to use. For those going swimming in the sea, you can go straight from the Hotel out to Shirarahama Beach, so it seems ideal for families with children as well. The Onsen also had an open-air bath; it was spacious with great water quality, and we could relax while looking out over Shirarahama Beach (in the morning it switches to the first floor bathhouse, so there’s no view). Dinner was served in a private room and everything was delicious (if I had to say one thing, the sukiyaki beef wasn’t quite as good), and having our freshly caught fish on top of that made us more than satisfied. For breakfast we chose the buffet; there were plenty of options including Wakayama ramen, which was great. One example of their attentive service: when I almost forgot to pick up our fish to take home at checkout, someone at reception noticed and helped us bring it back safely. If I have another chance, I’d like to stay again with this fishing-pond Plan.

    I learned about the current situation of an Onsen Ryokan.

    On a whim, I decided to visit Shirarahama for the first time in a while with my daughter, and since we wanted the Accommodation closest to the beach, I made a Reservation for this traditional Hotel on IKYU. What surprised me most was that almost all of the staff were foreigners... It had been a long time since I stayed somewhere like a Ryokan, so I had pictured an old-fashioned Japanese Ryokan-style Hotel. I understand that this is simply how things are these days, but it was hard for me to accept the reality of having someone from overseas explain the kaiseki menu. That said, this is only my personal impression, and the hospitality and attentiveness of the staff—including those from abroad—were wonderful. The Onsen water quality was excellent, everything was kept very clean, and it felt great. The breakfast buffet was also delicious. Even in our Room, we could hear the soothing sound of the waves, and thanks to that we were able to spend an enjoyable time together again after so long—thank you very much.

    I will use it again.

    Since we had a newborn, it was very helpful that you prepared a separate room for us before check-in. Dinner was delicious and served in just the right portions. The sandy beach was nearby, and the location was great. One suggestion: since we came for swimming, we would have appreciated a more detailed explanation of the Facility amenities.

    Just a short walk to the fireworks venue.

    A family kept doing flashy dives in the small pool, which felt dangerous. I think a lifeguard should be on duty. Dinner took a long time to arrive, and the wait was too long. The food was delicious, but the slow service made the dining experience disappointing. The Onsen had great views and excellent water quality. Towels were provided, so it was easy to go without bringing anything. However, in the second-floor open-air bath, if you stand up you are fully visible from the beach. It is very close to the fireworks festival venue, so it is especially valuable on fireworks days.

    It’s something I look forward to every year.

    The food is delicious, the beach is nearby, there is an Onsen, and the Facility is well-equipped—I'm looking forward to visiting every summer.

    An Accommodation with Spectacular Views, Perfect for Swimming in the Sea

    With direct access to Shirarahama Beach, you can enjoy swimming in the sea and the pool in just 30 seconds. Perfect for families. The food was delicious, and we had a Multiple Night Stay; dinner on the first and second nights used completely different ingredients, and we were very satisfied both days. For breakfast, you can choose between a buffet and a Japanese set meal. We chose the buffet both days, and it offered a wide variety of tasty dishes. The large public bath offers spectacular views of Shirarahama Beach, and it wasn’t too crowded, so we could relax and enjoy it at our leisure. From our Room we could also see Shirarahama Beach; it was clean, spacious, practical, and very comfortable—we had a wonderful stay. Thank you very much for your hospitality. We would love to stay again.

    I had a comfortable stay.

    I booked this on short notice during an unexpected day off, hoping to take my grandchild to the beach. We arrived around 10:00, and thanks to the front desk staff’s courteous guidance, we were able to park smoothly and proceed through check-in procedures, changing clothes, and luggage storage without any stress. Within an hour, we were already relaxing on the beach. That day, due to Typhoon No. 10, the waves became quite high and swimming was prohibited from 14:00. Even so, with its excellent oceanfront location—and since we could enjoy the pool and park until check-in—my grandchild stayed entertained and was very satisfied. As for the Room, we were upgraded, and through the wide horizontal window we fully enjoyed the privileged feeling of being right on the oceanfront. The staff were pleasant throughout, making it a very comfortable one-night stay.

    A Hotel with direct access to Shirarahama Beach, known for its white sand and crystal-clear water.

    On our first trip to Nanki-Shirahama as a couple, we had trouble choosing a Hotel, but the high ratings on IKYU and the location with direct access to Shirarahama Beach were the deciding factors, so we chose an ocean-view Japanese-Western room on the Royal Floor. The view from the room and access to Shirarahama Beach were exactly as expected, and the outstanding location left a particularly strong impression. The staff were also courteous, and it felt like their hospitality training was thorough. Dinner was served in a private room and was relaxing, but overall the cuisine felt like standard traditional Japanese fare typical of an old-style Ryokan. We opted for the breakfast buffet, but it fell short of expectations. There were many families with children staying there, and the atmosphere did not feel calm. Neither the variety nor quality of the food—nor any sense of local character—stood out; personally, I felt it did not even compare favorably to a typical family restaurant breakfast buffet. Including on-site services and what is offered in the lobby, my overall impression is average—neither particularly good nor bad. That said, considering this price range, satisfaction was high overall, and aside from travel costs from Tokyo, it is a Hotel I would like to visit again. The view over Shirarahama Beach and this location are well worth experiencing at least once.

    The Royal Floor offers a stress-free stay.

    This time, we stayed again on the Royal Floor (Japanese-style Room). The view from the Room was truly wonderful, with a full panorama of Shirarahama. We enjoyed choosing the complimentary colored yukata, swimming at the beach right in front of us, taking barefoot walks, and it was also very convenient to have a warm-water shower in front of the Hotel entrance after swimming. At night, we slept soundly and comfortably on the “good sleep” pillow while listening to the sound of the waves. Also, I finally noticed this time that the large public bath’s shampoo bar had an excellent selection, including Ella Baché and KNOLL, which made me very happy. The private dining Room had no windows and no view at all, so it was disappointing not to be able to see the twilight sky. However, this time—despite having the same meal content—it was nice that coffee was served after dinner.

    We highly recommend our spiny lobster dishes.

    The staff’s courteous service and the fresh sashimi were excellent. The location—right in front of Shirarahama Beach—is also a big draw. Since my schedule suddenly opened up, I made a Reservation the day before, combining an anniversary trip with a preview for a future family trip. At check-in, my name wasn’t on the guest list at first and it gave me a moment of panic, but the staff kindly rechecked everything with a smile. Once they were able to Check Reservation successfully, I felt relieved. I booked the 【Ocean View】Room Type Assigned by Accommodation Plan. While we could see the ocean somewhat, the single Japanese-style Room felt small, and there was noticeable aging and an associated odor, which made me worry that I’d made a mistake. However, they brought us welcome fruit as part of our Diamond benefits, and between taking a walk along the beach and enjoying the complimentary ume juice service in the lobby, we managed to relax. The large public bath switches between men and women in the morning and evening. The first-floor bath had no view, and even the open-air bath only showed the sky, which was disappointing. On the second floor, though, the open-air bath overlooks all of Shirarahama Beach; soaking while listening to the waves was wonderful. As Reviews said, both dinner and breakfast were delicious—especially the spiny lobster sashimi, which was wonderfully firm and fresh. My family even said it would be worth staying here just for that. I’d like to try again during beach season.

    Something feels missing.

    With the growing number of international visitors to Japan, I understand it may be unavoidable that many places are losing their traditional Japanese Accommodation atmosphere, but it seems that a decline in quality and service is happening here as well. I thought I had chosen a good Plan, but I did not feel it was worth the cost. Perhaps because there are now many international staff members, the meals were not particularly elaborate; they felt like simple dishes with only minimal preparation of the ingredients, which left me wanting more. It wasn’t that anything was unpleasant enough to complain about, but overall it did not meet my expectations. That said, all pre-arranged add-ons and member benefits were provided without omission, and the operations were flawless. The stay itself was smooth—thank you.

    Choosing Shiraraso Grand Hotel was truly, truly the best decision.

    I chose Shiraraso Grand Hotel as a gift for my parents. However, on the day of our stay, two typhoons hit, and the Kuroshio limited express was suspended, so we had no idea when it would start running again. We somehow managed to check in 2 hours and 30 minutes late, and even so, you kindly adjusted the times for our reserved private bath and dinner at our request. Dinner from 6:30 p.m. was a wonderful time thanks to an excellent trainee. But during the latter half of dinner, my father collapsed, causing trouble for the trainee and all the staff. Also, we had to cancel our private bath reservation scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at short notice. I am very sorry. The next morning at breakfast, when I asked about it, a gentleman in the restaurant was the first to speak to me. I was truly happy—thank you very much. Despite everything that happened due to the two typhoons and my father’s condition, I am truly glad we were able to visit Shiraraso Grand Hotel. Thank you so much to all the staff. We will definitely stay with you again next time we visit Shirahama!

    Excellent service!

    A trip for three with my mother and husband. My mother and I stayed in the same Room, and my husband made a Reservation for an “Ocean View—Room Type Assigned on Arrival.” Since my mother wanted a bed, we reserved a Deluxe Japanese-Western Room. We understood that my husband’s Reservation was one Room for one guest, so we expected to be on different floors. However, at check-in they arranged Rooms right next to each other—truly touching, and we’re very grateful. The lounge was wonderful: welcome drinks, wine in the evening, and coffee in the morning—all unlimited. The lounge staff were kind and welcoming, and the shop staff were also friendly with a great sense of humor, making shopping really enjoyable. Above all, every staff member—from the front desk to the dining team—was outstanding. The Room showed some age in parts of the fixtures, but it has been renovated and kept very clean. There were no common issues like dirty windows, and the view from the large windows was fantastic.

    I can confidently recommend it.

    We stayed on the Royal Floor and felt it was excellent value. We hope you continue the private dining service and the complimentary items in the refrigerator. The bath facilities were also very satisfying, with a shampoo bar and towel service. The exterior and lobby are not particularly luxurious, but it’s an easy place to visit again nearby, so we recommend it. Also, we’re very familiar with Shirahama Onsen, and we hope Shirahama Onsen continues to grow and develop!

    About dinner.

    Although we were able to dine in a private room, the meal was served too quickly, with dishes brought one after another, so we couldn’t take our time to savor the food. They did ask before bringing each dish, but I would have appreciated a bit more time between courses. The food was delicious, but because we ended up eating so quickly, I had severe stomach pain that night.

    The view is outstanding.

    The moment I entered the Room, I couldn’t help but gasp at the amazing view. The Room was also clean. However, there was a used tissue from a previous guest in the pocket of the yukata jacket… Was it not washed? It would have been even better if dried fish had been included with the meal. Was the Onsen free-flowing? The water was only trickling. All of the staff were friendly and smiling, which was great.

    The best accommodation that never feels outdated

    I booked expecting the property to feel dated, but while the building itself is unchanged, the tatami mats were clean and everything was well maintained. The large public bath had a shallower tub with a non-slip floor, so my short elderly mother could enjoy the Onsen with peace of mind. Both the Fuga kaiseki dinner and the Japanese set breakfast were excellent. Many of the staff were from overseas, but everyone spoke Japanese fluently and left a great impression. It was an unforgettable stay—thank you very much.

    Satisfied

    I made a Reservation to celebrate my parents’ wedding anniversary. They kindly gifted us a half bottle of wine as a celebration, and also decorated the dishes, which made them very happy. All of the food was delicious. They chose the breakfast buffet, and said it offered a wide variety of options. Since the Hotel is right in front of the beach, we chose an ocean-view Room. The Room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were wonderful as well, and it turned into a very satisfying trip.

    Surrounded by pandas, you’ll be captivated by both the sunset and sunrise.

    The purpose of this trip was to watch the sunset over Engetsu Island. The forecast had promised clear skies, so we were really looking forward to it, but just before sunset the clouds started getting in the way... We chose the “Panda Room with an Ocean View” since we were making the trip anyway. Along with take-home amenities, we received a plush toy as a gift—and it peeked out from my backpack all the way home. Since it was spring break, the Hotel was lively with many families traveling with children. Thanks to the cheerful staff who proactively spoke to us and provided refreshing service, we had a wonderful time. I even found myself looking up who operates the Hotel. By coincidence, I’m now even more excited for my Sapporo visit in June, which I already have a Reservation for.

    Oceanfront view

    We stayed as a large family of seven. The ocean stretched out right in front of us, and we walked along the beach on a morning stroll—it felt wonderful. Of course, we could also see the ocean from our Room. The staff were kind, and there were various sizes of yukata for children; even our 1-year-old grandchild wore one. The meals were plentiful and very good. We wanted to stay again in summer, but unfortunately it was already fully booked. Next year, we’ll do our best to book early. Thank you very much.\nThe only disappointment was that the sliding fusuma doors in the Room didn’t fit well and were difficult to open and close.

    A Birthday Trip for Kids

    Everywhere we went, the staff were courteous and attentive, and the restaurant and shop left a particularly strong impression. At the restaurant, they accommodated us thoughtfully depending on the time of day and spoke to us with great care. Even though we mentioned it at short notice, they celebrated our child’s birthday, which made for a truly wonderful time. At the shop, we asked whether they sold any over-the-counter medicine. They said they didn’t, but after we had left, they kindly suggested another place that might have what we needed. The location was also excellent—Shirarahama Beach is right in front of the property and easy to reach, and there is playground equipment nearby as well, which was great for families with children.     I’m a returning guest.

    I have stayed here several times before. This time, I was able to book at a very low rate, so I am satisfied. The Room was on the mountain side, which was a little disappointing, but at this price I can’t really complain. I would like to stay again if I have the opportunity.

    It was a comfortable stay!

    I stayed at your Hotel for the first time in over 40 years. During that time, I visited Shirahama almost every year but used other hotels. This time, returning after so long, I truly felt how comfortable your Hotel is. Thank you as well for upgrading our Room to a corner Room with a great view. The Room had a few areas that showed its history, but it was kept very clean, and having two toilets and two washbasins was extremely satisfying. The large public bath was at just the right temperature for me, and I ended up soaking longer than planned. Also, providing plastic bags for laundry is a thoughtful service that is not often seen at other hotels. For dinner we chose the full-course kue (longtooth grouper) meal, and everything was delicious. In addition to kue dishes, there was also Japanese-style roast beef; as a couple in our 60s, we were very satisfied with both the variety and the taste. However, we rated the breakfast buffet 4/5 because there were not many items and—depending on the time—we had to wait in quite a long line; even getting an extra serving of rice required lining up again at the end of the queue. We hope you will consider improving how the buffet is served. Other than that, everything was excellent and made for a comfortable stay. Since we visit Shirahama almost every year, we would like to stay at your Hotel again next time as well. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    The staff provided excellent service.

    A staff member was assigned to our table and guided us through the dishes, and this time I was truly impressed by the delicious Diamond Member benefits. The Room was also barrier-free, and I was grateful that it was accessible by wheelchair. The view was great, and we were satisfied with the service. I would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

    A Relaxing Accommodation

    This Hotel is set in a scenic location and has an air of elegance. No matter how many times I stay, I am strongly reminded of that. The Onsen is especially exceptional. It was one of the Hotels my late father loved, which makes me feel sentimental. Although the staff have changed over time, their spirit of hospitality remains unchanged and was wonderful.     It was a bit disappointing that the Room only had a side view of Shirarahama Beach, but the service was excellent and the price was affordable, so I was very satisfied.
