    At check-in, we were...

    At check-in, we were served the head chef’s homemade sweets and sencha, which warmed our hearts. The Room was spacious and very clean. Dinner featured many ingredients that were new to me, and everything was delicious right through to the final dessert. The Onsen was wonderful as well. The lounge is open until 11:00 PM, and by 10:30 PM it was empty so we could really relax and enjoy it. Having pineapple juice available was the best, and there were also some small snacks. The futon was fluffy and I slept very well! For breakfast, more and more yuba keeps coming out, which really lifts your mood. I’m satisfied with everything.

    Enjoy delicious cuisine surrounded by flowers.

    It was my first time back in Arima Onsen in a while. The Hotel was smaller than the one we usually stay at, but from the moment we arrived by car, we were warmly and pleasantly guided. We were welcomed with delicious matcha and sweets, and there were many wildflowers beautifully arranged in vases throughout the building. It made me think I should have brought my mother along for tea. The bath was on the smaller side, but very relaxing. Most importantly, the cuisine was excellent—both the flavors and the tableware were wonderful. The meals were truly outstanding. Although some of the international staff seemed inexperienced, they worked very hard and provided attentive service with support from other staff members, which made our stay very enjoyable. We even found ourselves saying how much we wanted some of the dishes they used. Thank you very much for such a wonderful meal. After checkout, you called to let us know I had left behind an old pouch—thank you for contacting me before I even noticed, and I’m sorry for the trouble. It was only one night, but thank you for a lovely stay.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    This was our first stay here, and we chose it based on the highly rated reviews on IKYU. It was an Accommodation filled with warm hospitality and thoughtful attention to detail. Along the calm, traditional Japanese-style corridors, lovely fresh flowers were arranged with a sense of wabi-sabi, building excitement as we headed to our Room. The Room was a modern Japanese-Western style space, beautifully enhanced by indirect lighting; from the sofa area with a mini bar set one step down, we enjoyed a sweeping view of Arima Onsen. The Room also had its own radon Onsen bath and sauna, which we were able to enjoy before dinner. The meals were exquisitely presented in delicate detail, gently seasoned and truly delicious. We were deeply impressed—so much so that it felt rare to encounter cuisine of this level. A friendly staff member told us that many guests return specifically for the food, and we completely understood why. It was an Accommodation that healed both body and mind. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    The Room and meals were both average. I didn’t feel it was good value for money. The only good service was from the male staff member who guided us in the parking lot.

    A Cozy Accommodation

    Compact but very comfortable! All the staff were wonderful and kind. The in-Room sauna was truly appreciated—I felt completely refreshed! I’d love to stay again when I visit Arima.

    Facilities and Service

    The shower pressure was extremely weak—just a trickle—so I couldn’t wash properly and had to put up with it on the first day. The next day I asked a staff member to check it because the water pressure was low, but there was no response, and on the second day it was still just a trickle, so I had to endure it again. They said they would light the fireplace after dinner on the first night, but they didn’t—it was very disappointing. They did light it on the second night, though... On the second day, amenities were not replenished, so I had to go without things like cotton swabs that I had used up on the first day. On the second day we went out by taxi, and even though we had a lot of luggage, no one helped at all. Even the taxi driver said something like, “No one’s coming out,” which says it all. Overall, only the bathtub was good. I couldn’t find anything else that stood out as good.

    We were able to relax as if we were staying in a private villa.

    With art subtly placed throughout and no crowd noise, it felt like relaxing in a private villa. The meals were excellent, and the yudofu at breakfast was especially comforting. Our Room came with an open-air bath and sauna, and it was spacious, easy to use, and simply the best. We would love to return.

    A Trip with Three Female Friends

    I stayed here with two female friends from my school days. We were looking for a quiet Accommodation with great food, and choosing Takayamaso Hanano was the right decision. The building is compact, and both the large public bath and the dining area are close by, so it was comfortable and stress-free. There were no large groups among the other guests either, so it was very peaceful.\nThe dinner and breakfast were as delicious as we had hoped, and we were all satisfied. The only disappointment was that the yukata looked faded and worn.\nThe service isn’t “full-service hospitality,” but considering the price in Arima, I felt it offered more than enough value.

    This was our first t...

    This was our first time staying in Arima Onsen. We chose this property with a focus on the food, and as expected, every dish had a delicate flavor and was truly delicious. However, I was honestly surprised when the rice was placed at the front right and the soup at the front left during service. It may seem like a small thing, but it was a bit disappointing. The Onsen was very relaxing, but I was startled when someone came up via the emergency stairs of the building across from us, and I hid. I felt it would be better if there were some kind of screen or barrier.

    The Onsen is amazing.

    Both the gold and silver baths were wonderful, and after just one soak my skin felt silky smooth. The meals were delicious. The rice was perfectly fluffy, and the Sanda beef was tender and excellent. Although I believe the property was nearly fully booked, it was quiet and very comfortable. I would love to visit again.

    A spacious Accommodation you’ll want to stay at again

    It was very clear that the Accommodation’s policies are well defined and consistently upheld. What needs to be done is handled with care; what isn’t necessary is not done—nothing feels excessive. With little informational “noise,” I was able to enjoy a quiet stay without unnecessary emotional ups and downs. Both the cuisine and the welcome sweets were delicious and beautifully presented, and I’d love to return in another season. The Onsen is on the lukewarm side, so I felt it was best enjoyed over multiple visits. I walked up the hill to the Accommodation for some exercise, but it was quite steep (for older guests, requesting Shuttle Service would be a safer choice). That said, the view from the Accommodation was outstanding and truly worth it. There weren’t really any drawbacks, but if I had to mention something: it was hard to understand how to brew coffee at the night bar, and the Room power outlets were not easy to find. I understood that keeping explanations minimal may come with trade-offs.

    Cold Wave Arrival

    The stay was quiet, and the bath was never crowded, allowing for a relaxing experience. The cleanliness of the facility was impressive. All the staff members we interacted with were very pleasant and accommodating. During our stay, there was a cold wave, and while there were fan heaters in the hallways... the indoor areas, especially the elevator, felt quite cold. The men's bath seemed to have a lower temperature as well, and my husband kept mentioning how cold he felt even during meals and borrowed a lap blanket. What impressed us was that lap blankets were already provided with the breakfast set. Thank you for your hospitality!

    It was my first time...

    It was my first time staying, but it was disappointing. The disposable indoor slippers were uncomfortable to wear. Additionally, the power outlets for charging smartphones in the Room were inconveniently located, making it very difficult to use them. Furthermore, the website mentioned that beverages in the refrigerator were chargeable, so I expected alcoholic drinks or similar items to be available; however, there was only complimentary water. Unfortunately, there was no explanation about this from the staff who guided me to my Room. Also, I could hear conversations from the neighboring Room quite clearly, which was somewhat unpleasant. Moreover, the public bath itself felt drafty and extremely cold; even after soaking in hot water, I quickly got cold and couldn’t warm up properly. However, on the following morning at the public bath, there seemed to be no such draftiness as before and I could enjoy a relaxing soak. Although I understood that special rates apply during New Year’s holidays, I felt that these amenities and Facility conditions did not justify the price charged. The only saving grace was that dinner and breakfast were delicious and served in a private dining space where we could enjoy our meals comfortably. Regrettably though, I don’t think I'll consider staying here again.

    Not worth the price

    The parking location is inconvenient. Upon arrival, there was no welcome greeting, and I had to carry my luggage up steep stairs to reach the entrance. For elderly guests, it would be impossible to reach the entrance of this Ryokan. The large public bath was difficult to find, and I got lost trying to locate it. The food was not particularly delicious; it was just average. Even though I informed them that it was a wedding anniversary trip and they said they would prepare a congratulatory message card, nothing was prepared. At other Ryokans I've visited for anniversary trips, there were services like complimentary drinks for a toast or desserts with messages written on them. If you say you'll prepare something, please don't make false promises. I will never visit again.

    A quiet accommodation on a hill.

    Elegant, relaxing, and tranquil. The room was a spacious Japanese-style room, perfect for unwinding. The onsen and the view were excellent, and I was delighted to enjoy a peaceful soak as there were few other guests. The hallways were adorned with artwork and flowers, providing visual enjoyment and never feeling dull. The meals featured seasonal ingredients, beautifully presented, and paired wonderfully with sake. In the lounge, perhaps some soft music would enhance the atmosphere, depending on personal preference. It was a quiet and wonderful time! Thank you to the accommodation staff for all their hospitality.

    The room was lovely....

    The room was lovely. However, we stayed as a group of five, and upon entering the room, there were twin beds in one room and three futons laid out in the Japanese-style room. There were only two chairs in the bedroom for relaxing, three coffee cups, six teacups, but not enough cups for all five of us. It would have been nice to have five cups available. Additionally, there was a power outage due to an accident. While it wasn’t dark thanks to the backup generator, the delayed communication made us feel uneasy. The food was satisfying. The private bath in the room was excellent. We also enjoyed using the lounge where we could relax comfortably. The complimentary refrigerator service was a great bonus! We’d love to visit again!

    It was a soothing retreat for the soul.

    I have visited Arima Onsen dozens of times since childhood, but this was my first time staying at an accommodation. Since it was a last-minute reservation, only one room was available, but it was very comfortable. The room had a silver onsen, sauna, and a special bathtub for the sauna, allowing us to relax fully. The amenities provided were top-notch and excellent. The meals were also very delicious. The furnishings and flowers inside the facility were soothing. However, as I traveled with my 96-year-old mother this time, I noticed some steps here and there that required attention while accompanying her. For those who are not elderly, there would be no issues at all. I would love to come back again with friends for a leisurely stay next time. It was a healing trip thanks to the kindness of all the staff members. Thank you very much!

    I was able to show my gratitude to my parents!

    It had been 20 years since our last stay at Arima Onsen due to its high cost. This time, we decided to celebrate the 4th anniversary of my husband's mother's recovery from stomach cancer surgery. It was also the first time in two years for just my husband and me to stay somewhere, as we have an elderly dog. Our daughter kindly offered to take care of the dog, so we chose Takayamaso Hanano for a special experience. The tea and sweets service after check-in, the quiet atmosphere of the accommodation, the delicious meals, and the warm hospitality from staff were all wonderful. What stood out most was the complimentary drink service in the lobby after dinner on the first floor—we enjoyed it so much that my husband, mother-in-law, and I spent two hours there comfortably! It felt like being in a hotel club lounge. This small accommodation offers heartfelt hospitality that you can only find in such places. We would love to visit again someday. Thank you very much!

    A luxurious accommodation reflecting the owner's dedication and refined taste

    Stayed at the renovated Premium Suite "Sanshuyu" with semi-open-air Kinsen and Ginsen baths on the top floor, just two weeks after our previous visit. Since we stayed in the same room, we enjoyed noticing different art displays and had a wonderful time listening to stories about the owner's art and flowers as a family. After hearing about the architect who designed the renovations, we've decided to stay in a Sukiya-style room next time. As I mentioned before, this small luxury accommodation offers impeccable hospitality without being overbearing in any way.

    An accommodation that exudes a sense of style and thoughtful attention to detail in every aspect.

    Stayed in the Premium Suite "Sanshuyu" with semi-open-air bath featuring Kinsen and Ginsen waters <Top Floor> for a family of three. The ryokan itself is small with only 17 rooms, but it offers a sense of refined taste and thoughtfulness in its facilities, room, cuisine, and service without being overly imposing. It was an extremely comfortable stay. This accommodation provides a small luxury experience that large-scale onsen ryokans lack, which I truly appreciate. This was our second visit, and if staying in Arima again, we will definitely choose Hanano.

    It was a very lovely accommodation.

    We enjoyed a relaxing stay for three with welcome matcha, handmade sweets, a lovely room, a bath, and a sauna. The amenities were wonderful. Flowers placed in the hallways and rooms added a calming touch. The meals were delicious and very satisfying. Breakfast was slightly simple; adding one more unique dish would make it even better. This is an accommodation we would love to stay at again when visiting Arima Onsen.

    First Stay

    This was my first stay at Takayama Soukawano Accommodation. The road in front of the hotel was a bit hard to find, but I arrived safely. The welcome tea and sweets were very delicious. I chose a room with a private bath, so I could enjoy the onsen comfortably without having to move around. Dinner was well-organized and served smoothly, allowing me to enjoy various flavors of the dishes. As for breakfast, I felt it could use a little more creativity. Overall, it was a relaxing experience that provided great rest. This has become one of the accommodations I'd like to visit again.

    - For some reason, the Onsen at each Hotel in Arima is gradually improving (including here). - There are issues with the front desk process during check-out. - In this day and age, all processes should be manageable at the front counter alone. - Please ensure at least a two-person system during check-out hours. - Regarding meals, dinner is barely satisfactory, but breakfast has been consistently lacking—please improve this.

    Management issues

    The road to the Stays was narrow, so I parked my car in a nearby parking lot and was picked up. The attitude of the employee was terrible, saying that even my Corvette couldn't fit. I thought something was off, but there was no apology for the inconvenience. The Property had steep stairs, and the employee waiting at the top just watched from above. When I asked the person who seemed to be the owner, who gave me a ride back, if they were the owner, they replied, "Can you tell?" It was a response that made me lose the desire to complain. I will never go there again.
