    Great value for money

    I stayed at the accommodation to visit the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. It was really close to the area, making it convenient and enjoyable. Considering the accommodation cost, I found both the breakfast buffet and room size satisfactory, and I appreciated the kindness of the staff. However, the layout of the bathroom in my room was very inconvenient. There was no shower curtain for the bathtub; instead, there was a shower booth. But when using it, water would splash through small gaps in its door onto the floor of the adjacent toilet area, leaving it soaked—this was quite stressful. I had to clean up after every shower as wet floors can be slippery and dangerous. If you're looking for a budget-friendly stay with easy access to explore Bikan Historical Quarter, I would recommend this accommodation.

    This was such a wonderful hotel that I felt compelled to write a review after a long time. While there are many excellent accommodations, I was deeply impressed by the high level of this hotel, especially their warm and subtle hospitality. Although the facilities are somewhat dated, I am grateful to everyone who assisted us during our stay, particularly the lady who kindly helped us during our early arrival. The hotel's location is close to the Bikan Historical Quarter, the parking lot is easy to use, and the bathroom with an independent shower booth was very comfortable. I will definitely revisit when I come back to Kurashiki. It’s a great hotel that I highly recommend to anyone planning a trip to Kurashiki.

    A Hotel that Matches the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter

    We stayed at the accommodation as a couple to visit the Ohara Museum of Art in Kurashiki after decades. Although we arrived early by private car, the female staff at the hotel kindly assisted us, allowing us to park and leave our luggage so we could leisurely explore the museum and surrounding areas. The hotel is old, but the guest room was spacious, and its marble bathroom matched the aesthetic of Kurashiki's historic district, giving it an elegant atmosphere. Breakfast was more carefully prepared compared to buffets at urban hotels. This charming accommodation blends perfectly with the townscape, offering great value for money while preserving Kurashiki's historical essence.

    It was a wonderful trip to Kurashiki.

    The Room was standard yet very spacious, and despite its age, the luxurious bathroom setup made up for it. The staff at the front desk, restaurant, and cleaning were all very pleasant, making our stay enjoyable. The French cuisine at Hakkengura was extremely delicious, and we were glad to choose the dinner and breakfast Plan. If you're visiting Kurashiki, this Hotel is highly recommended!

    The bathroom, bathtu...

    The bathroom, bathtub, toilet, and shower room were all connected, making it inconvenient to use. The marble between the bathtub and sink was slippery and very concerning. I managed with a foot mat and bath towel, but... Given the spaciousness, I hope they consider separating these areas for better usability and safety. My fellow guest shared the same opinion. Breakfast was very delicious. The front desk service felt like it was handled by part-time staff. It didn’t match the luxurious feel of the room. While it wasn’t a bad impression, there seemed to be something missing... perhaps a touch of refined energy throughout would enhance the experience overall. If improvements are made regarding the bathtub and sink issue as well as other aspects mentioned above, this could become a hotel I’d highly recommend to others. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Mom Friends' Trip

    It was a trip with four mom friends from when our now 40-year-old children were in kindergarten. The location was close to the Bikan Historical Quarter, the rooms were connected, and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Everyone was delighted and said it was a fun trip.

    The location is excellent.

    The exterior and interior have a very solid and historic feel. However, the layout of the sink, toilet, bathtub, and shower is somewhat inconvenient—when one person is using any of them, others cannot enter. Breakfast is an average buffet offering both Japanese and Western options. The location is excellent, situated very close to the Bikan Historical Quarter.

    A Hotel with a calm and pleasant atmosphere.

    We stayed for a multiple night stay. The location was excellent, making it very convenient to visit the Ohara Museum of Art and the Okayama Bikan Historical District, which my wife thoroughly enjoyed. The room had a calm atmosphere overall, and the bathroom was well-designed and user-friendly. The front desk staff were kind and accommodating, making our stay comfortable despite the large number of international guests. If I had to point out a drawback, it would be that the breakfast venue is not very spacious, so I recommend going early in the morning. For dinner, we were able to make a reservation at "Hachiken Kura" and enjoyed French cuisine there. The glass wine paired perfectly with the dishes and was very easy to drink. Both accommodation and dining offered great value for their price, providing an excellent sense of satisfaction overall.

    A quiet and relaxing...

    A quiet and relaxing Hotel. The Facility is slightly old, but the Room and bed are spacious, and there is a shower booth, allowing for a comfortable bath. It requires a short walk from the station, but it is close to the Ohara Museum of Art and the Bikan Historical Quarter, making sightseeing convenient.

    The Room is spacious.

    The location felt closer than expected when walking from the station. It was also more convenient to the Bikan Historical Quarter than it appeared on the map. The muscat and pione grapes served at breakfast were very delicious. The Room was spacious, allowing for a relaxing stay, which was highly satisfying. If the hairdryer were of a slightly higher grade, it would be perfect.

    It had been a while since I stayed at a hotel, as I had been staying at ryokans recently. While some ryokans nowadays require guests to request amenities instead of providing them in the room, this hotel had all amenities fully prepared. There were plenty of towels, and even a towel dryer was provided. For dinner, I made a reservation through IKYU.com at a Japanese restaurant within the Bikan Historical Quarter, so I only used the breakfast buffet here. The buffet offered an extensive selection of both Japanese and Western dishes and was very satisfying. Since it was during a three-day weekend, I expected some waiting time due to the number of guests; however, we were guided promptly without any delays. The parking lot has limited spaces in front of the hotel; additional parking is available across the street. Fortunately, as we arrived early in the afternoon, we managed to park right in front of the hotel and enjoyed sightseeing around Bikan Historical Quarter until after check-in time. Please note that parking costs 1,500 yen regardless of location. One minor concern was with the layout of the bathroom area—it felt slightly unusual—but it did not cause any issues during our stay. We were assigned to a room on the 9th floor but experienced no noise from upper floors and enjoyed our stay comfortably. Revisiting Bikan Historical Quarter after about 40 years since my last visit revealed how beautifully transformed its streets have become over time—it truly felt like stepping into another era! Even those who visited long ago would likely enjoy returning for another look now.

    What a hidden gem!

    I attended a conference held in Okayama City. As expected, hotel rates near the venue were extremely high. In my search for alternatives, I remembered Kurashiki City nearby and quickly found and reserved this Hotel at a more reasonable rate than Business Hotels near Okayama Station. From the airport, I took a bus to Kurashiki Station, enjoyed some local specialty udon near the station, and then walked to the Hotel. The Hotel features European classic decor with all rooms exceeding 40 square meters, offering a luxurious experience. The paintings in the room are thoughtfully illuminated with built-in lighting. The elegant coffered ceilings resemble those of a five-star hotel. The bathroom is fully clad in marble and includes both a bathtub and shower booth. My wife was thrilled as she initially thought it would be an ordinary Business Hotel. The shower booth features dual showers: one fixed high-performance showerhead and one handheld option, providing ample water flow for an excellent experience. Afterward, soaking in the bathtub completely washed away travel fatigue. After a restful night’s sleep, we headed to breakfast on the first floor. With fewer guest rooms available at this property, there was no crowding at breakfast—making it very comfortable as well! Looking up revealed an opulent chandelier overhead adding charm while enjoying dishes that included locally sourced ingredients alongside freshly baked croissants or individual servings of Shine Muscat grapes which tasted delightful! At their drink corner stood rare Hiruzen Jersey Milk freely available; my wife cleverly turned hers into café au lait using coffee provided too! Our assigned room located atop offered expansive views though heavy rain brought noticeable sounds from above suggesting soundproofing improvements might enhance future stays further still given its prime location right by Bikan Historical Quarter entrance coupled w/ service levels surpassing typical expectations yet falling short compared against full-fledged city hotels overall hardware quality here feels over-the-top akin discovering ancient relics amidst modernity hoping remains accessible pricing-wise avoiding acquisition foreign investors potentially transforming upscale luxury tier soon enough humorously worrying nonetheless!

    It was a safe and comfortable Hotel.

    I had a very comfortable stay. It was the first time staying at this hotel with an elderly companion. The room was spacious and thoughtfully designed for the elderly, which we greatly appreciated. This hotel is well-equipped with everything necessary in terms of both facilities and services. The next day, our plans changed unexpectedly, and we decided to stay another night. I am grateful for the warm hospitality and consideration shown by the staff. Thank you very much.     Classical and very relaxing.

    It takes a bit of a walk from the station, but it is perfect for sightseeing in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. The Hotel was very classical and relaxing, with spacious rooms. The indirect lighting in the Room was comfortable without being too bright. The bathroom had separate areas for the bathtub and shower, which might feel inconvenient for some, but it didn’t bother me as it was summer during my stay. Breakfast included local specialties and was enjoyable. Both the front desk staff and restaurant staff were very pleasant, making my stay extremely comfortable. I would love to stay here again when visiting Kurashiki!

    Thank you for your hospitality during the hot season. The location was about a 10-minute walk from the station, but access to the Bikan Historical Quarter was very smooth. It was convenient to take a break in the Room to escape the heat and Clear my energy, allowing me to fully enjoy the town at night. The concept of the bath was also very effective in relieving a day's sweat and fatigue. The breakfast, including thoughtful touches like grape service, made for a very satisfying experience.     It was comfortable!!

    We stayed in a Japanese-style room as a family of four, including children. The building and facilities are old, but they were cleaned so thoroughly that it exceeded our expectations!! The access to the Bikan Historical Quarter is excellent, and the breakfast had a wide variety of options. We were very satisfied!! If we have another chance to visit Okayama, we will stay here again!

    The Room and breakfast are high quality, but the miso soup is subpar.

    It had been over 10 years since I last stayed here when it was a Nikko Hotel, and the high atrium and marble-tiled bathroom brought back memories of the glamorous bubble era. Looking back, it feels a bit amusing, but the Room was spacious and well-maintained, making for a reasonably comfortable stay. The breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes with several items thoughtfully prepared in the Hotel's kitchen, maintaining a high standard. However, I was shocked by the quality of the miso soup. Serving diluted pre-made concentrated miso soup from a dispenser is something you'd expect at budget Business Hotels. It’s hard to believe such an important element of Japanese cuisine would be treated this way here.

    Arriving at the Hotel just before 1 PM on a scorching day, I intended to leave my luggage before check-in. However, I was informed that "Your Room is ready, so you may use it if you'd like," allowing me to check in over two hours early. On such a hot day with temperatures reaching 35°C, being able to rest in the Room before heading out for sightseeing was incredibly helpful. Although breakfast time was crowded and there was a short wait, the staff's pleasant demeanor made it unbothersome. While some aspects of the facilities felt slightly dated, the Room was spacious with a separate bathtub and shower room; the deep and large bathtub along with provided bath salts allowed for a relaxing soak to ease fatigue. The Hotel is conveniently located near the entrance of Bikan Historical Quarter, making it an ideal choice for future visits to Kurashiki.

    Connecting Room

    We stayed as a group of four childhood friends for 60 years. We reserved two rooms, but the hotel kindly prepared connecting rooms for us, making our stay even more enjoyable. The staff left a great impression, the cleaning was thorough, and the breakfast was very delicious. However, we deducted one star due to a burnt-out light bulb in the stand and a gap in the shower room door. Overall though, it was excellent! With the beautiful district nearby and discovering a delicious restaurant close by, we are already planning to visit again!

    Due to our age, both my spouse and I struggled to get out of the bathtub as it was slippery. After getting out, we almost slipped on the smooth floor.

    I had a comfortable stay.

    This was my second stay. I didn't realize it during the reservation, but upon arrival, I noticed it was my second time. The front desk staff also recognized me as a repeat guest and provided attentive service. The room had a traditional design but was clean and comfortable. At the breakfast venue, there were many experienced staff members who worked efficiently while ensuring all guests were informed when replenishing dishes or distributing watermelon desserts to everyone. Their hospitality made me feel warm and welcomed. The location is excellent, just a few minutes from the Bikan Historical Quarter, and I would love to stay here again when visiting Kurashiki.

Since it was a spontaneous trip, it was challenging to find accommodation where four adults could stay in the same room. Although we ended up booking two rooms (one for one person and another for three), we immediately decided on Kurashiki Royal Art Hotel due to its prime location—just a 1-minute walk from the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter—and the luxurious atmosphere conveyed through the photos. Above all, the reasonable pricing was very appealing. Upon entering the hotel, we were impressed by the open atrium with its glass elevator. While there were slight signs of aging in the guest rooms, they offered an impressive spaciousness of over 40 square meters each. The bathrooms featured separate bathtubs and shower booths with marble finishes throughout—a level of luxury that far exceeded our expectations for the price. Additionally, even though we forgot to request it beforehand, they kindly arranged adjacent rooms for us and connected them as a suite so that we could move freely between both rooms. Everything about our stay was incredibly comfortable, bringing joy to both my parents and us. We would love to stay here again during our next visit to Kurashiki. Thank you very much!

The location was very convenient, just about a 3-minute walk to the Ohara Museum of Art. Overall, it was a quiet and sophisticated atmosphere that made for an excellent trip.
