    Delicious and very satisfying

    This was my second stay. I have another Ryokan in Kamogawa that I like as well. I remembered that on my previous visit there was a course where you can enjoy small portions of delicious dishes, so this time I chose Kamogawakan. Since we were staying three nights in total around Boso, I didn’t want to overeat, and the “delicious small portions” option really appealed to me. The person traveling with me is a food professional, so I can’t take them to just any Ryokan. We had planned to eat spiny lobster for lunch in Isumi, but we weren’t hungry and our timing was off, so we couldn’t. I was happy that spiny lobster was included in the sashimi at dinner. Rather than “small,” the amount was just right. Everything was very carefully prepared. We enjoyed every dish—there wasn’t a single thing left over. The soup dish in particular was outstanding. We were extremely satisfied. That said, it was my fault for not checking properly, but choosing the room with two single beds so quickly was a mistake. Since last time we stayed in a standard Room, I didn’t think much about it. The Western-style Room with two single beds felt cramped after all. Next time I’ll choose a regular Japanese-style Room. Also, I lost my ring and by the final day I didn’t even know where it had happened, so I called all three Accommodations we stayed at. It turned out I had left it at Kamogawakan. They called me back right away; after I described its features and they confirmed it matched, I felt relieved and truly happy—because it’s a ring I’m quite attached to. Thank you very much.

    Deeply moved by your sincere hospitality

    The points I mentioned in my previous Review from last month had been clearly improved. The dinner warming plate used to heat poorly, and the fried items became soggy and disappointing; this time there were no fried items, and the menu had been changed to simmered dishes and diced roast beef, which we could enjoy piping hot. Thank you for responding sincerely to the Review. My friends also said your response was excellent., This time, however, it was disappointing that we couldn’t watch Netflix on the Room screen. The staff member explaining the Room made it seem very easy to use and gave only a brief explanation, so I would appreciate a clearer explanation of how it works.

    A Satisfying Accommodation: Kamogawa-kan

    Passing through the impressive gate, I felt I had truly arrived at Kamogawa-kan. I was able to relax in the lobby overlooking the pine grove, as well as in the guest room, the large public bath, and the pool. The male staff were also very courteous when greeting us at arrival and again at checkout. The meals were delicious—from the beautifully presented sashimi boat with a dry-ice effect to each thoughtfully prepared dish—made even better by the wonderful taste of Wakasa rice. They kindly served a fruit plate as a birthday gift, and just like last time, it made me want to stay at Kamogawa-kan again. The only disappointment was being told at checkout that vouchers cannot be used with an IKYU Reservation, so I was unable to use my discount voucher. It would have been nice if it could also be used at the shop. With its consistently satisfying experience, I would like to stay at Kamogawa-kan again.

    This is a flawless Accommodation that you’ll be completely satisfied with.

    This time, we stayed in a Room with a semi-open-air bath. The Room was spacious, thoroughly cleaned, and very comfortable. It was also convenient to have plenty of power outlets in the Room. The semi-open-air bath in the Room had a large tub and was impeccably maintained, making it extremely relaxing. I enjoyed the Onsen so much that I almost felt a bit fatigued from soaking too long. We were also very satisfied with the meals—not only were they delicious, but the quality of the ingredients and perfectly balanced portions were excellent, and each course was served at just the right timing. Everything was flawless, but what stood out most was the staff’s service. Their refined, professional hospitality felt higher in quality than at any other Hotel. And this wasn’t limited to one particular person—every staff member who assisted us shared this same standard, which speaks to how well this Accommodation trains its team. This is an Accommodation we would love to return to, and next time we would definitely like to book a Multiple Night Stay.

    A relaxing Accommodation where you can unwind

    This Accommodation was a wonderful place for adults to relax and unwind. It was especially nice to be able to enjoy dinner in the Room at our own pace. However, I also felt it was a bit of a hassle to take items out of the refrigerator ourselves and arrange dishes from the warming plates. It would be helpful if layout photos were provided as well. We were satisfied with both the taste and portion size. The Room came with an indoor terrace, allowing us to spend an elegant and truly luxurious time. The bath was great, but one disappointing point regarding the Facility was that the shop was under renovation and felt a bit quiet, and it would have been even more appreciated if there had been an alcohol vending machine in the pantry area. In any case, this is an Accommodation we would like to visit again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    It was a family trip.

    We stayed here for a family trip with my parents and children. It’s close to Kamogawa Sea World, and the Accommodation is lovely—we’ve stayed here several times. Since it was a weekday and there may have been fewer staff, it took a very long time for dinner to be served after ordering, and we felt a bit tired by the time we finished the course. The Room, bath, and everything else were excellent! We would love to stay again.

    It was disappointing.

    I had hoped to stay at the well-regarded Kamogawa-kan to celebrate my son’s graduation, but it ended in disappointment. The Room had an amazing location, but I was shocked by the poor service. We agreed to a later dinner time at the Hotel’s request, but the rice was dry and most of the food was cold and dried out. The trainee who showed us to our Room also did a terrible job. It was expensive, so I’m truly saddened. I guess I was foolish for expecting too much.

    Meals are available.

    This time, the meal was served in the Room. It’s nice to be able to eat whenever you like, but hot items are placed on a warming plate and cold items are taken out of the refrigerator. However, it took a long time to warm up, and even after the plate timer ended, it still wasn’t warm. Even the fugu fried chicken became soggy after absorbing moisture around it. Even though it was a kaiseki-style boxed meal, I wanted at least the tempura to be piping hot. Breakfast was nice because it was calmer than a buffet. Also, there is a pantry area on each floor, but it’s far from the Room, and juice is only available until 5:00 PM. There is an electric kettle in the Room, but no tea bags/leaves were provided, so I had to go to that pantry area to get them, which was inconvenient. In the end, I drank bottled tea that I had brought with me.

    We had a comfortable stay.

    As it was a weekend, the Accommodation felt busy overall and a bit hectic, but all the staff worked calmly and courteously at an unhurried pace, which helped me feel relaxed. The water stations on each floor were very convenient, and I used them many times. The Onsen was also spacious and wonderful. However, I couldn’t figure out how to turn off the night light at the step in the Room, so I wasn’t able to make it completely dark, which was disappointing. Is it designed so that it can’t be turned off for safety? At the breakfast buffet, too many people gathered near the entrance (around the salad area), making it hard to move. But since it was a weekend, I suppose that’s unavoidable. All in all, this is an Accommodation that makes me want to come back again. I had a comfortable stay and could truly feel everyone’s heartfelt hospitality. Thank you very much for taking care of me!

    Exceptional hospitality

    The Facility and Room were very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. The meals were delicious, and we were truly impressed by the warm hospitality of all the staff, with their smiles and attentive care down to the smallest details. We love traveling and have stayed at many Hotels, but we believe this is an outstanding Accommodation.

    It’s a popular Ryokan that truly lives up to expectations.

    I could never get a Reservation before, but at last my wish came true and I was able to stay. There’s a reason it’s so popular. What surprised me first was how many families with children were there. I’ve stayed at many Accommodations, but I’ve never seen so many kids and babies. This Ryokan offers various Facilities and thoughtful touches that both adults and children can enjoy together. It wasn’t just formal, and it wasn’t overly casual either—an extremely comfortable Ryokan that sits in just the right balance. I would definitely like to stay again.

    Dinner is described as the chef’s carefully crafted creative cuisine, but for elderly guests like myself, a menu centered on local fish dishes would be more enjoyable and appetite‑stimulating. I hope you will consider this.

    A truly great accommodation

    The meals were delicious, the Onsen was wonderful, and the Room was very clean with a great view. All of the staff showed outstanding hospitality, and we received so many thoughtful services. We were satisfied with everything—so much so that we want to stay again. Thank you very much.

    This is an outstanding Accommodation overall.

    I stayed for two nights at the same time of year as last year. It’s a wonderful Accommodation, and I’d love to visit again next year. There was a mix-up with my spa Reservation and I’m sorry for the trouble, but the staff handled it exceptionally well. This time I stayed in a Room on the 7th floor, and I highly recommend it—the sunrise view is amazing! It’s rare to find an Accommodation with such consistently high satisfaction overall, but this one is truly outstanding.

    Comfortable Accommodation in Boso

    Both the facilities and services were excellent, making for a very comfortable stay. Many of the staff were young, and their genuine hospitality really came through. We were able to enjoy dinner at a private dining restaurant at a relaxed pace, and the scenic lounge was quiet and soothing. If the breakfast buffet offered a bit more variety, it might be perfect. I would have preferred more egg dishes such as omelets rather than galettes, along with a more substantial salad section.

    A Ryokan Where You Can Enjoy a Wonderful Stay

    Thank you for taking such wonderful care of us at year-end. The moment we stepped into the Ryokan, the bright and beautiful atmosphere instantly lifted our spirits. Our Room also had a stunning view with the ocean filling the window—it felt like a shame to close the curtains. Dinner was elegantly seasoned with great care for local ingredients, full of seasonal character, and truly delicious. Breakfast featured beautifully presented dishes that were clearly prepared with care, and it was fun deciding what to choose. Freshly baked bread was served during the meal, and it was absolutely amazing. I can only comment on the baths from our first day, but while each one was on the smaller side, every bath felt wonderful, and both the washing area and changing room were spotless—I left feeling completely refreshed. Above all, what makes this Ryokan exceptional is the staff’s service and outstanding communication skills. From our phone inquiries at Reservation time to being welcomed at the entrance—of course including check-in, guidance to our Room, meal service, and more—everyone helped make our stay truly comfortable. In particular, I was impressed by the kimono-clad women’s neat hairstyles and graceful mannerisms, as well as by how thoroughly the cleaning staff maintained everything (they even wiped down the tops of shelves!). Also, although breakfast was buffet-style, one woman who cleared our finished dishes didn’t just tidy up—she asked if there was anything else she could help with. I was genuinely moved to see such excellent staff members here. We met many other wonderful staff as well—too many to mention them all. Thanks to all of you, we had a truly lovely time and are very grateful. This is an Accommodation we would definitely love to visit again.

    Everything was wonderful except for the meals.

    The Room was clean, and we were very satisfied with the open-air bath, but the meals were a bit disappointing. Perhaps because a similar-class property in Kamogawa we stayed at before was exceptionally good, while the presentation looked nice, I felt the freshness of the sashimi and the portion size could be improved. Next time, I’m considering choosing in-room dining.

    We value thoughtful attention to detail over superficial service.

    The staff greeted us whenever we passed, but I feel there are more important things than surface-level politeness. - The plastic cups at the washbasin were badly scratched. - The futons were already laid out, but if the sea is to the east, wouldn’t that make the TV side a north-facing pillow position? - After using a baby chair in the breakfast area, it was put back, but because it was heavy it made loud squeaking noises and was dragged several times right behind us. It may have been a busy season with some inexperienced staff, but guests can only judge based on that one day. It’s disappointing—after the food was very poor two years ago and had finally become delicious again since last year.

    An Adults’ Day Trip

    We stayed here on our wedding anniversary to go see the orcas. Right in front of the ocean and the aquarium—an unbeatable location. For mature couples who find buffets a bit much, it’s a real plus to have an à la carte restaurant option. The spiny lobster soup, abalone steak, and freshly harvested Nagasa rice were outstanding. With its calm atmosphere, we had a very comfortable stay. Thank you for your hospitality.

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    Based on the great reviews, we stayed for one night. It does take a bit of time to drive from Tokyo, so I was slightly worried, but the (charmingly rustic) country roads in Chiba were easy to drive. From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent, and everyone—including the gentleman who guided us from the lounge—made us feel very welcome. What impressed me most was that although check-in was quite crowded (we were probably shown to the last available table in the lounge), after that we never felt it was crowded anywhere. We rarely ran into other guests at the baths, dinner in our private room was so quiet it made us wonder if anyone else was there, and breakfast buffet had no waiting time and went smoothly. I assume this is because they carefully manage dining styles (in-room dining and two types of private-room dining) and time slots. This is not a complaint at all—just a suggestion. This time we stayed as four people across three generations (my parents and my child), but we were given only two room keys. Around the same time, our child wanted to go to the rooftop pool while my parents wanted to go separately to their respective Onsen baths, which was a bit inconvenient. In particular, we didn’t realize a room key was required to enter the rooftop pool area and had to rush back to our Room. I may have missed it, but it would have helped if you informed us in advance, or if there were measures such as using a passcode system for the rooftop pool or providing one additional room key. This is an Accommodation I highly recommend. I hope you keep up the great work.

    This was my first st...

    This was my first stay. All of the staff were very kind, and I felt they were well trained. Thank you very much. However, there were a few disappointing points... First, for some reason the Room felt like it had been split in half from a single larger space. The entryway was oddly shaped and the Room was extremely small, and it felt unsettling that only this Room on the floor seemed to be divided like that. Also, there was a loud banging noise all day long—possibly from the refrigerator... It was so noisy that I tried to find where it was coming from, and I think it may have been the refrigerator. The layout was strange and it was loud, so we kept saying, “Isn’t something wrong with this Room?” At night I woke up many times because of the noise. I truly wish I had asked to change Rooms. As for the food, I can’t say either dinner or breakfast tasted good at all. The appetizers were completely cold and so dried out you could tell they had been sitting for a while; the soup bowl dish was lukewarm; and even when a female staff member asked how the meal was, I didn’t know what to say because the sashimi felt limp and watery. We ended up saying things like, “Maybe the head chef just isn’t enjoying their work anymore—if they were, this wouldn’t be served...” Breakfast wasn’t good either. The miso soup tasted weak; even the sauce for the Onsen egg tasted thin; and even how the bread was arranged looked careless... Honestly, none of the food tasted good. At checkout, I told a male staff member about what sounded like an abnormal noise as if something might be wrong with the refrigerator in our Room. He seemed unsure how to respond. Then he said something along the lines of, “I guess there’s no point telling someone that young... never mind.” Also, while having two men standing at the entrance of the shop may be unavoidable due to layout or security reasons, it felt awkward and I couldn’t browse souvenirs at ease. There were pairs of staff standing in various places throughout this Ryokan as well—it created a tense atmosphere. It’s a large Ryokan with many staff members, so I can imagine how challenging operations must be. Still—the layout of that Room is strange. And above all—the food is far too poor. Among my recent stays elsewhere as well as here recently (in general), this one really stood out in a bad way. I thought all of your female staff members were wonderful. Is this simply an era where you can’t have a good experience for under 50,000 yen anymore? If only your food improved—even just that—I think this could be a very good Ryokan. It felt like such wasted potential in many ways. I hope things will improve going forward. Thank you again for your hospitality.

    This was my first st...

    This was my first stay. The service, meals, Facilities, and baths were all excellent. The large public bath alternated between men and women, but I enjoyed experiencing baths with different atmospheres. The Accommodation was spacious and clean throughout. Dinner in particular was delicious—especially the miso-braised beef and the tender abalone, and I was very satisfied with the variety of sashimi as well. Thank you very much.

    A cozy Room

    This is my second stay in this Room. It is functional, well laid out, and very comfortable—I really like it. The window is large, with an ocean view stretching across the entire horizon. The staff’s warm hospitality is wonderful. I would definitely like to stay again.

    Although it is a lux...

    Although it is a luxury accommodation, the breakfast buffet was not very impressive. I also had concerns about the guest crowd, such as some guests from a golf tournament lacking manners. However, overall the Accommodation was a high-end Ryokan.

    A Memorable Ryokan

    A rare find—an exceptional Accommodation for adults.

    I had stayed in the annex before, but this was my first stay in the main building. The traditional Japanese spirit of hospitality and the thoughtfully designed newly renovated Room were outstanding. It’s rare to find an Accommodation that maintains both after a renovation. Compared with many of today’s luxury Onsen Resort Hotels, the dining here was exceptional in quality, portion, and presentation. Our family has been frequently visiting newly opened (including a 2025 Michelin-awarded Hotel) or recently renovated properties, and the renovated Rooms at Kamogawakan exceeded our expectations and truly impressed us—the entire floor (the renovated Room floor) is wonderful. The in-room semi-open-air Onsen bath was superb, including the view, and the large public Onsen bath was also excellent. We will definitely return for a Multiple Night Stay.

    We used the girls’ t...

    We used the girls’ trip Plan with five people. Overall, it was a fun trip, but there were a few points that concerned us. First, the benefit said “You may bring in one bottle,” but only half bottles were available, so we brought two. When we asked at check-in, we were told that “any amount counts as one bottle.” It was disappointing to realize that a full-size bottle would have been fine. We also felt there is room for improvement in the dinner service. The glasses for the toast arrived only after we had finished the appetizer, and one of them was noticeably dirty. It was also disappointing that no staff member addressed it even though we were talking about it. A staff member told us to “please pass the dishes around” because their sash kept catching on things; if this interferes with service, it may be worth reconsidering the uniform design. We also thought some background music would have been nice. The food itself was delicious, but we noticed quite a bit of water spotting on the plates. Although there were several points like those above, we all had an enjoyable trip together. Thank you very much.

    Senior-friendly Accommodation

    This time we made a Reservation for a barrier-free Room, and it was very spacious and safe for my elderly mother with limited mobility, which was wonderful. The view was great, and the bath in the Room was nice and hot—my parents were very pleased. Dinner looked beautiful, including the tableware, though I personally prefer simpler dishes that bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients. Breakfast was also good, and I was especially surprised by how delicious the croissants were. Overall, everything—from the Facility to cleanliness and staff service—was excellent. We truly appreciate being able to enjoy a calm trip together as parent and child. Thank you very much.

    Impressed by the attention to detail

    We stayed here to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday. The property is easy to reach by car, and from the entrance of Kamogawa-kan, a beautiful, almost time-slip-like landscape unfolded before us. They kindly let us park our car until check-in, and it was just a short walk to Kamogawa Sea World nearby. After check-in, time seemed to slow down in the best way. The garden was wonderful, and we received pleasant, welcoming service from the staff who assisted us. Our Room had a full ocean view and was meticulously cleaned down to the smallest details, so we were able to relax in complete comfort. We enjoyed the rooftop pool and felt a sense of unity with the sky and sea. The Onsen also soothed our travel fatigue. The amenities were plentiful and made our stay even more comfortable. At dinner, we enjoyed the celebratory meal until we were completely full; although it was a selfish request on our part, they even brought dessert to our Room for us. Breakfast was delicious across the board—beautifully presented dishes that we don’t usually get to enjoy at home—and we ate until we were fully satisfied as well. Inside the building, there are historic folding screens and paintings on display, which I think history lovers will really enjoy. Thank you very much for your courteous service all the way through seeing us off after checkout. This has become a Ryokan we would love to stay at again when visiting Kamogawa. Thank you very much.

    It was the best accommodation—I definitely want to stay again!

    The Room, the meals, and the staff’s hospitality were all outstanding—this was a truly wonderful Accommodation! About the Room The Room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully maintained down to every detail. We had an amazing ocean view from the Room. The semi-open-air Onsen bath in the guest room was also incredibly relaxing! I was also happy that the amenities were Sekkisei. About Dining This time we made a Reservation with a Plan without dinner, but it was great that we could still use the restaurant even without a Reservation. The assorted sashimi platter on the menu is meant for 3–4 people, but they kindly prepared a portion for two, which we really appreciated. Everything we ate was delicious—especially the magocha-zuke, which was exceptional!! The breakfast buffet was also delicious. About Facilities It was fun that there were so many different types of baths in the large public bath! The washing area was spacious as well, so even when other guests were there at the same time, it still felt comfortable and relaxing. We also really enjoyed the rooftop Onsen pool! It’s an infinity pool with a fantastic view, and since it’s Onsen water, you can enjoy it year-round—which is great. Since men and women can enter together, it’s perfect for couples or families. The gift shop also had a great selection. Everything about this Ryokan—the Room, dining, and more—was excellent! There were so many Facilities that one day wasn’t enough, so next time I’d love to stay for a Multiple Night Stay!
