    A Hotel with Poor Value for Money

    It’s a positive point that the shuttle bus service has improved and there are fewer issues. However, since the Accommodation Fee rises significantly during the Lunar New Year period, it’s hard not to feel that the value for money is low. Many other Hotels provide amenities such as lotion, facial cleanser, and face masks, but there were none at all in the West Wing. Also, was the tissue supply in the Room intentionally kept low? It ran out after just a few sheets….

    Staying at Karuizawa Prince for the first time in 20 years

    Just as everyone’s Reviews said, the meals were delicious and we were very satisfied! We appreciated having both loungewear and a bag to take to the bath. However, the lobby and hallways on the way from the Room to the bath were cold, which was tough for an older person. The Room outlets, amenities, and Facilities were just right, but we couldn’t shake the impression that the accommodation rate has gone up—whether due to inbound pricing or inflation.

    Ski Trip

    We stayed here on a ski trip with our children. As it was peak season, prices for meals and other services were on the higher side, but the Facility was well equipped and we had a comfortable stay. We would like to stay again.

    A lively, large-scale Hotel for families

    What was good - Convenient location close to the outlet mall. - The shuttle bus service was also convenient. - The Room was spacious enough for three adults. - The Room was clean and comfortable. - The staff were kind and helpful. - There was an attendant at the spa (large public bath), and they checked the room key upon entry, which made us feel secure. What was disappointing - Since it was the peak New Year period, it couldn’t be helped, but baggage storage and check-in took a very long time. → Check-out was smooth because we could settle the bill in advance. - It was very lively, so we couldn’t really relax anywhere except in our Room. - The changing area at the large public bath felt a bit cold. - Restaurant Reservation was a bit difficult. → We had an Accommodation Reservation that included a dinner course, but we felt uneasy many times when trying to make a restaurant Reservation online. In hindsight, reserving seats only would have been better, but clearer details on how to book would have been reassuring. - It would have been helpful if the dinner and breakfast Reservation times were written on something like the card key holder. - Although the Facility is large, there is only one convenience store near the entrance, which was inconvenient. It may depend on when you stay, but it’s a very lively Hotel with many families. The grounds are so large that we almost got lost.

    Far from the front desk.

    The shuttle bus took us to the cottage, but it was far and took a long time, and even with a Reservation we still had to wait about 20 minutes, which was frustrating. Everything took time. The Room was larger than the one we had reserved, and the kids were happy about that. Thank you.

    Have the breakfast options decreased?

    I have stayed here several times, and it seems to me that the breakfast selection has decreased. Am I mistaken? Also, once again, I wondered if something could be done about how cold the large public bath area is and how low the sauna temperature is set.

    Compared to before, the breakfast buffet was not as good. Overall, it felt geared toward international tourists, and the service was also lacking.

    An ideal location within walking distance of the outlet mall.\nYou can easily come back whenever you want to take a break.\nI’ve stayed here before, and now that there’s a spa, it’s an excellent place to stay.

    A favorite place, staying for the third time.

    I always enjoy staying at West. Having a convenience store in the Hotel is very handy, and the location is excellent. The Room I stayed in was one of the older ones, so it felt a bit dated, but it was always kept clean and tidy. However, the distance to the bath is quite far from this side of the Hotel, so for those with mobility issues, staying in one of the renovated Rooms might be better. My favorite part is definitely the buffet. Everything was truly delicious—especially the chili shrimp with large, juicy shrimp that made me so happy! The desserts were also impressive; unlike some buffets where they look good but are overly sweet, these were genuinely tasty. The ice cream was absolutely delightful too! Someday I’d love to stay in one of the renovated Rooms as well. Thank you for always providing such enjoyable and happy moments during my stays—I’m looking forward to visiting again!

    A Hotel You'd Want to Stay at Again

    The entire Hotel was very clean and comfortable. The Onsen was not too hot, just the right temperature, allowing us to relax. The shower booth was very spacious and had a sense of cleanliness. The scent of the shampoo and conditioner was so pleasant that I ended up purchasing the same products to use at home. The breakfast buffet offered so many choices, and everything was delicious. Especially memorable was the freshly made omelet topped with the Hotel's original nameko mushroom sauce (thanks to the chef for sharing this tip). I was amazed at how well the nameko mushroom sauce complemented the omelet—it left a lasting impression! It was a family trip that exceeded all expectations. Thank you very much!

    Delicious Cuisine

    I used to visit every year, but this was my first time since the renovation. The interior was beautifully updated, and most impressively, the food was even more delicious than before—it was truly delightful. While my main purpose was skiing, I ended up enjoying the Hotel life even more. I'm glad I went and would love to visit again!

    Onsen is amazing!

    I used IKYU and had a reasonably priced stay. It was great that the outlet was within walking distance, and the Onsen was clean and excellent. I would love to use it again.

    Enjoy a Comfortable Stay During the Autumn Foliage Season

    The building surrounded by autumn leaves and the bath were impressive. We also enjoyed a variety of meals, including Japanese, Western, and sweets. Although we couldn't make it to the Chinese cuisine as we were too full, it was a delightful dinner. The greetings from the staff we passed in the hallways and bath changing rooms were pleasant as well. I've visited Karuizawa several times, but this is a Hotel I would love to stay at again if given the chance. Thank you very much!

    Autumn in Karuizawa

    The view of the tennis court and autumn leaves from the terrace was very soothing. However, the distance from the lobby to the Room was quite far, making it a bit inconvenient to go to the shop for drinks. As I was traveling with my elderly mother, moving around with a wheelchair within the Hotel due to height differences was tiring.

    We fully enjoyed the...

    We fully enjoyed the peak autumn foliage in Karuizawa. The Hotel offered a relaxing atmosphere, surrounded by vibrant red leaves, providing a truly serene experience. The breakfast venue also allowed us to savor the tranquil autumn scenery. Above all, the bath was the highlight—so warm and comforting. The staff, who kindly added a touch of conversation with nature's charm, were wonderful as well. Thank you very much!

    This is my favorite ...

    This is my favorite Hotel, and I always stay here during my annual trips to Karuizawa. Since I had informed the staff in advance that I would be traveling with my elderly parents, they kindly prepared a Room on the 3rd floor near "MOMIJI HOT-SPRING," which was very comfortable. The next day, when we visited the breakfast buffet at "ALL DAY DINING LOUNGE," I requested a sofa seat with cushions for my mother who has back pain. Initially, two female staff members insisted it was not possible. However, perhaps overhearing through their communication system, a male staff member arranged a sofa seat for us, which made us very happy. In conclusion, this was the most comfortable stay I've ever had here and it became a memorable trip to Karuizawa. Thank you so much!

    Renovated beautiful Onsen and lush greenery

    Initially, we had a reservation for a cottage, but due to the presence of insects, we requested to move to an indoor room. While it might have been better if we had reserved an indoor room from the start since insects in cottages can be expected, the staff promptly and kindly arranged for us to change rooms. The pest control staff who assisted us, the male staff member who helped with moving our luggage, the female staff member who came to pick us up at the cottage, and the female staff member at check-out all provided professional and courteous service that left a very positive impression. When preparing our new indoor room, it seemed they arranged for a slightly larger room without mentioning it (perhaps so as not to make us feel uncomfortable?), which felt like thoughtful and considerate service! The onsen was very clean and beautiful, and we also loved the charming atmosphere of the cottage! Additionally, its location is highly convenient as it's connected to an outlet mall and within walking distance from Karuizawa Station! One point of concern was that check-in time is set uniformly at 3 PM, leading to significant congestion during check-in. Allowing early-arriving guests to complete their check-in procedures in advance and only pick up their keys later might help alleviate this issue. Overall though, everything was excellent! Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    I stayed with my mot...

    I stayed with my mother in her 80s. The view from the Room was absolutely beautiful. The noise from the hallway or neighboring rooms was not noticeable at all, allowing us to relax completely. The buffet meals for breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of dishes, and the roast beef and gelato were especially delicious. I would love to stay here again.

    The waiting time is too long.

    I arrived before check-in time, but the line for check-in was extremely long and moved very slowly, which felt excessive. I was with my elderly mother, but there were very few chairs in the lobby. She has difficulty walking and had to stand for over 30 minutes, which was terrible. The Room was clean. The massage staff were kind as well. The large public bath was clean and nice; however, the changing area was small, there weren’t enough hair dryers, and it became very crowded. Many guests were waiting for hair dryers. Some guests displayed poor manners by reserving spots despite the crowd and line forming, yet staff did not address this behavior at all. It was convenient that we could walk from Karuizawa Station and that it connected to a shopping mall; however, compared to the size of the Facility, there seemed to be too few staff or inefficient operations overall—leaving an impression of endless waiting throughout our stay at this Hotel. I had been looking forward to staying here but left disappointed instead.

    A hotel resembling a mountain lodge

    I stayed at a lodge. The property repurposes an old golf course, with cabin-like lodges scattered everywhere. The grounds are so vast that I got lost walking to the front desk for dinner. As someone who rarely gets lost even on hiking trails, it was my first time getting lost within a hotel property—it's that spacious! Dinner was a buffet, but despite having a reserved time and seat, we were made to wait in line for 10 minutes, which surprised other guests as well. The food was decent but not exceptionally delicious. There were so many options that I felt it was almost wasteful while eating. The one thing I found truly tasty was the freshly cooked white rice! (laughs) As someone who loves mountain cabins, I left satisfied overall.

    It had been a while since my last visit.

    The approach from the parking lot has been significantly changed, and the all-day dining area has more than doubled in size. I had a very comfortable stay.

    Slightly different from expectations.

    I had stayed at a cottage in Sapporo before and had high expectations. The cottage itself was nice, but access to the front lobby from the cottage, despite having a shuttle bus, was more convenient by walking due to timing. Meal reservations could be made via smartphone, but there were no available slots. I ended up calling directly to make a meal reservation and managed to secure one. The parking lot was also paid. I don't think I'll come back next time.

    Enchanting

    It was wonderful. The three months of suffering through the intense heat felt like a lie. We listened to birdsong and enjoyed plenty of greenery. The cottage is in an amazing environment. For our dinner and party, we leisurely enjoyed selections from a nearby supermarket while having delightful conversations. Thank you very much.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    This was our second stay. During our previous visit amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Karuizawa felt quiet overall, but this time it was lively and bustling with people. The hotel had many guests as well, yet it remained calm and allowed us to relax. What I love most about this hotel is the onsen. The women's bath has a proper sauna, plenty of washing stations, and spacious baths that let you truly unwind. The view from the open-air bath is especially stunning—the green trees against the blue sky are breathtaking. My husband also loved it, and we both enjoyed bathing in the morning and evening. The convenience store within the hotel stays open late, making it very handy for a quick stop after a bath. With its vast grounds perfect for strolling around, Prince Hotel provided an enjoyable experience overall!

    Relaxing summer retreat in a cool getaway, enjoy a comfortable cottage experience

    This was our second visit to Karuizawa Prince Hotel, a famous summer retreat. The air is fresh, the greenery is beautiful, and we had a truly relaxing time—highly recommended accommodation. We were grateful to be upgraded to a better cottage than the room we had reserved. With four women in our group, each of us could use a separate room, which was very convenient and comfortable. However, one downside was that Onsen access for cottage guests required an additional fee of 2,000 yen per person, which felt slightly expensive for staying guests. This was our first stay at Karuizawa Prince Hotel West, and we were very satisfied. We would definitely like to return again!

    As a low-rise Hotel, there may be more walking distances.

    The buffet was the only option available for reservation, but it took a long time to be guided to our seats, which was a bit disappointing. Additionally, drinks took quite some time to arrive after ordering. Without the option of a dinner course, it was hard to relax and enjoy the meal fully. I wanted to spend my time more leisurely. Karuizawa's high altitude made it about 7 degrees cooler than Tokyo during this season, making it very comfortable and pleasant. Next time, I would like to play a round at the attached golf course.

    Mist, Forest, Cool

    Surrounded by mist in the forest, enjoying the hot springs (free with a Multiple Night Stay in the cottage), drinking from dawn and then sleeping—always a comfortable experience. It's worth the trip even from faraway Kobe. Thank you for assigning us a great Room.

    Repeat visit.

    It was a stay during a busy holiday period, but as it was my first Multiple Night Stay, I was looking forward to spending relaxing time at the Hotel. The Room we were guided to was on the first floor, offering an open view of greenery outside the window, creating a calm atmosphere that made me feel at ease despite the crowd. Although it rained on the first day, it turned out to be perfect for unwinding within the Hotel after a tiring journey. I enjoyed a peaceful meal at the Chinese restaurant and soaked in the Onsen to relax my body while fully enjoying my Hotel stay. Despite many group guests making the premises lively, all staff members were very pleasant and provided attentive service even during busy times, which left a strong impression on me. Thanks to them, I had an enjoyable experience throughout my stay. Last time I visited during cherry blossom season; with autumn foliage approaching soon, I believe that would also be beautiful. It was such a comfortable stay that makes me want to visit again in another season. Thank you very much!
