    Spacious and clean

    Though old, the accommodation is well-maintained. While it retains the feel of an apartment, efforts have been made to make it hotel-like, such as placing leaflets and adding a fragrance in the shared corridors. Necessary improvements have been made while cutting unnecessary costs, like using disposable and affordable bath brushes. The accommodation fee is kept reasonable for everyone to use, which is appreciated. If I may suggest, enhancing the selection of souvenirs and adding an onsen would be wonderful.

    Used every year

    I have been using this Hotel every year, but the prices keep increasing annually. This year, one of the open-air baths was out of service, the pouring bath was empty, and during the breakfast buffet, it seemed understaffed as dishes and food were not replenished in time. When I mentioned there were no bowls, I was told to use a different dish without any apology, which was unpleasant. It feels like the quality of service is declining despite the rising prices.

    Stay at Hotel Cypress Karuizawa.

    Stayed for one night on October 4th. The lobby design and atmosphere were very nice. It was my first time experiencing self-service welcome drinks, but it might be a good idea since you can enjoy them freely. I stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, but it was slightly disappointing that the type of bath could not be chosen in advance. The Room was unexpectedly spacious, which was great. However, the structure felt more like an apartment and lacked a sense of luxury. Adding cushions to the sofa would have been appreciated. The indoor parking lot was convenient as it kept the car clean. The Plan included breakfast, which was buffet-style with a wide variety of options; however, I found the taste to be average. Its proximity to Karuizawa Station made it convenient for exploring nearby areas on foot, though Old Karuizawa Ginza Street felt too far to walk and required taking a taxi. Lastly, regarding customer service: I didn’t feel particularly welcomed or warmly greeted; instead, the service felt rather businesslike and impersonal. Considering there are Hotels where you feel genuinely welcomed even at around 100,000 yen per night, this aspect could use improvement.

    My family was delighted.

    It was our first family trip in a while, and the Room was spacious with a large public bath, which made everyone very happy. The breakfast menu had a wide variety and was especially delicious! The staff were also very friendly. Thank you so much!!

    Spacious Room

    It takes about a leisurely 15-minute walk from Karuizawa Station to arrive. We enjoyed a welcome drink of smoothies and coffee, which was very relaxing. My family wanted to try the opera cake, and it turned out to be very delicious. We had booked a 70-square-meter Room, which was extremely spacious and comfortable. It was also very clean. The bathroom had a semi-open-air design with an outdoor hinoki bath, which felt wonderful. There were ReFa showerheads and hair dryers available. Hair irons were also provided (there seemed to be two Kinujo models). There is a delicious bakery and local supermarket nearby, making it enjoyable to explore the area. After checking out, we walked to the outlet mall using a shortcut that took less than 10 minutes—very convenient! Overall, we loved how compact yet convenient everything was here and would love to visit again!

    Summer comforter, hairdryer in the Room, and water provided within the facility.

    I woke up several times during the night feeling hot and sweaty, adjusting the air conditioning. A lighter summer duvet would be appreciated. I took a shower before leaving in the morning, but it was surprising that there was no hairdryer in the Room, so I went to the restaurant with wet hair. There were no paid bottled drinks or vending machines available besides tap water, and since I was hesitant to go out at night, I ended up drinking tap water. While the welcome drink service and Facility impressed my friend who came to visit me, and despite excellent staff service, these points were disappointing considering the price.

    A Long-Awaited Trip to Karuizawa

    We planned a long-awaited family trip for five and chose Cypress as our accommodation in Karuizawa. Starting with welcome champagne at the lounge, the Japanese-modern room was spacious and relaxing even for five people, with sunlight filtering through the trees on the terrace offering a true Karuizawa experience. The dinner we had been looking forward to was upgraded thanks to Cypress's thoughtful service, and the seafood bouillabaisse was especially exquisite. Enjoying delicious food while listening to live flute music created a luxurious and memorable time for our family. If we have another chance to visit Karuizawa someday, we will definitely choose Cypress again. Thank you very much!

    The location is convenient, with Karuizawa Ginza and the outlet mall nearby, as well as a supermarket and McDonald's within walking distance. There are two parking areas: one underground and another across the street. The room was spacious with a dining table, sofa, private bath, and separate toilet. It was comfortable for a relaxing stay. No noise from neighboring rooms could be heard, which was great. In the basement, there is a large public bath, vending machines, coin laundry facilities, and an ice machine—very convenient to use. The service at the restaurant and front desk was excellent. Although the explanation of dinner menu options during reservation was unclear at first, the food turned out to be delicious with good portions. During dinner, there were live piano and cello performances that created a soothing atmosphere. Breakfast was buffet-style with plenty of variety—deliciously enjoyed! While the large public bath does not appear to be an onsen (hot spring), it includes a sauna and open-air baths. There is also a carbonated bath; however, bubbles did not stick to my body—it seemed like carbonation might not have been active? That part was disappointing. Since there’s only one elevator available in the building, waiting times can occur occasionally; however, stairs are conveniently located nearby for use as well!

    Unfortunately, I would not stay here again. To be honest, even considering the busy season, I felt that the quality did not match the price. While some aging of the accommodation is understandable, I strongly suggest improving and strengthening cleanliness. ① Room I stayed in a Hollywood Room, which was spacious and comfortable to use. - No towel rack or paper towels in the restroom; no place to dry hands after washing. - Black mold present on the sink area in the restroom. - Humid and dusty environment (I experienced allergy symptoms such as sneezing and a runny nose during my stay). - Severe mold and strong odor in the bathroom made it unusable. - The light above the bed flickered constantly. - No power outlets near the bed. - Footsteps from upstairs were very loud. ② Service The woman who helped carry our luggage during check-in was very polite and attentive. - At the dining area, when setting up chairs for children, lifting them to table height felt unhygienic. - During check-out, after handing over my room key, staff turned away silently without confirming completion of check-out. ③ Onsen As mentioned regarding room conditions, since my room's bath was unusable due to its state, I only used the public bath around 9 PM. - My slippers were taken by someone else; consider implementing numbered clips or similar measures. - Please provide shelves for personal shampoo bottles inside baths. - Indoor bath temperature was unclear; some mistakenly entered cold water baths. - Outdoor bath had multiple pill bugs and centipedes near what seemed like water outlets—very disappointing. ④ Facility No major issues encountered here. - Restrooms near dining areas had an unpleasant smell; please consider placing deodorizing agents there. ⑤ Meals Dinner buffet was highly disappointing while breakfast was enjoyable. - Dinner dishes were overly salty overall. - Sashimi tasted watery with a fishy smell. - Food arrangement could be more thoughtful (e.g., white rice placed far from porridge). - Some dishes had unexpected flavors: chili shrimp tasted like teriyaki sauce; meatballs labeled as stewed hamburg steak—an odd experience overall. For two people at a six-digit price... it did not feel worth it at all so this review reflects that disappointment harshly. Given how many positive reviews this accommodation has received before now heightened expectations but left me feeling let down instead especially since we’d been looking forward eagerly toward enjoying hotel stays over holidays yet ended up disappointed instead!

    The customer service is completely lacking.

    I stayed in Room 105, which had an open-air bath, for two nights. Upon arrival, I had to carry my suitcase up the stairs from the parking lot, which was quite difficult. Although I passed by staff members, they neither offered to help nor greeted me with a "welcome." After checking in at the front desk, no one helped carry my luggage (despite needing to climb stairs to reach the room). For a stay costing over 100,000 yen per night, I found this level of service disappointing. On the day of checkout, I wanted to relax and had requested late checkout in advance for an additional fee. However, early in the morning: I received a phone call asking if I wasn’t coming for breakfast since I hadn’t shown up yet. This woke me up when all I wanted was some peace and quiet. Even though I reminded them about my late checkout during that call—at 10 AM—the room intercom rang again before someone unlocked and entered without permission saying it was time for checkout! When informed once more about having arranged late departure beforehand both yesterday & earlier today—they apologized but left me feeling their communication lacked coordination entirely. Regarding amenities: as mentioned by others' reviews—it’s worse than what you’d find even at business hotels! When asking whether cotton swabs were available—I got told only downstairs inside communal baths instead. The room itself felt outdated while bedding seemed damp/unpleasantly sticky; making sleep uncomfortable overall. Outdoor bath cleanliness raised doubts too—wondering if tubs ever get drained/scrubbed properly between guests? Given such high pricing alongside subpar quality/service provided here—I’ll choose staying elsewhere next time where standards match expectations better despite location convenience being perhaps sole advantage keeping them confident charging premium rates unjustifiably so far...

    Visit Karuizawa

    This time, we visited Karuizawa for a couple's trip after a long time. The meal menu and dining venue varied depending on the course we booked. Unexpectedly, we were able to enjoy live music during dinner, which became a memorable experience. If there were an option to request songs for the performance, it might have delighted guests even more. The porridge served at breakfast was much appreciated.

    Enjoyed a trip to Karuizawa with a breakfast-included Plan. The breakfast offered a wide variety of Japanese and Western dishes, and I found myself eating a bit too much every morning. The staff efficiently cleared empty plates and utensils from the table, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. One of the highlights was the drink service in the lobby, which provided a relaxing moment after returning from outings each day. However, one concern was that every morning during room cleaning or towel distribution, carts loaded with towels and amenities were placed in the hallway, making it slightly difficult to walk through due to the narrow design of the corridor.

    Room with Open-Air Bath

    When making the Reservation, I mentioned in the comments that I was pregnant. During dinner, they were considerate of my condition by serving seared sashimi instead of raw and replacing the tea-flavored ice cream with milk ice cream, allowing me to enjoy my meal with peace of mind. Their thoughtfulness truly made me very happy. The Room with an open-air bath was very spacious and comfortable; however, considering the high price, it would have been better if there had been complimentary water service or individually packaged makeup remover and facial cleanser among the amenities.

    The room was more spacious than expected, allowing for a relaxing stay. The Karuizawa Shopping Mall was within walking distance, and the surrounding area offered plenty of dining and shopping options, making it a very convenient experience. Considering the location and cost, I think this is an excellent hotel. I look forward to staying here again.

    The price was lower than expected, so I felt a bit uneasy. However, upon arriving at the Hotel by taxi and seeing its beautiful exterior, I felt relieved. Inside, we were greeted by friendly staff, and my partner assured me that the Room would be fine. It truly was a clean and spacious Room. The breakfast buffet was also very satisfying. It turned out to be a wonderful trip.

    One-night stay for a family trip

    We stayed here to celebrate various occasions, including my parents' birthdays, my mother's 77th birthday, and a return gift for my daughter's university admission celebration. From the welcome drink to dinner, we requested a complimentary surprise service for my parents. The hospitality exceeded our expectations and even surprised me as well. Seeing the delighted expressions on my parents' faces made me feel incredibly happy. The staff also accommodated my daughter's allergies, ensuring that our entire family was completely satisfied. Although one of the baths in the large public bath area was unavailable, we understood it was out of consideration for other guests and didn't mind much. The breakfast featured plenty of delicious local ingredients and was truly enjoyable. This is a wonderful hotel that I would love to stay at again if I have another chance to visit Karuizawa!

    The staff provided excellent service.

    It might be the smallest Room, but it was more than spacious enough for two people and we had a comfortable stay. The large public bath and sauna had plenty of space, allowing us to relax. We enjoyed our meal while listening to live piano music, which made it even more delightful. The number of staff compared to guests was generous, and their hospitality was impeccable. It was my first visit to Karuizawa in about 30 years, and this Hotel made me want to come back again.

    I was very satisfied.

    We stayed as a family with our 0-year-old and 5-year-old! It was a no-meal plan, but there was a large supermarket nearby, so we could buy what we liked and eat in the room at our convenience, which was perfect for us with two small children. The Room was spacious, and having a mini kitchen and microwave was incredibly helpful! They even provided us with a bottle sterilizer for the microwave. The bathroom in the Room was also spacious, allowing us to comfortably bathe with our baby. We loved being surrounded by nature and enjoying the greenery of the forest. In the past, we often chose Prince Hotels near outlets despite their higher prices, but from now on, we'd love to stay at Cypress instead! Wish we had realized this sooner (laughs). The staff were kind, and the Hotel's atmosphere was wonderful! Looking forward to staying again!

    A Hotel Worth Repeating

    This was my third stay, and I was most impressed this time. My daughter couldn't make it to dinner as she returned from work after 9 PM, but the Hotel staff kindly set aside her meal and delivered it to our Room. I was deeply moved by their thoughtfulness.     This is a long-established Hotel, so...

    The room felt outdated overall. The Hollywood Twin beds were spacious and comfortable, but the bathtub and room design resembled an accessible room, giving a hospital-like atmosphere. There were no outlets by the bedside, making it inconvenient to charge my phone. Would I choose this place again? Probably not.

    Completely satisfied.

    We booked 2 Rooms for 8 people, but one Room was spacious enough to accommodate all 8 of us and was very clean. For dinner, we chose the casual dinner option, which was very delicious, included one drink, and had just the right portion size. Although the breakfast venue felt a bit small, the variety of dishes was abundant and everything tasted great. All my companions were satisfied and said they would love to come back again.

    It was wonderful!

    I stayed in Room 101. The guest room had an open-air bath, which was clean with circulating hot water and available anytime. The morning bath was very refreshing. The dinner at the restaurant was delicious, and the course meal accompanied by live cello music was exceptional. The breakfast buffet also had high quality items such as roast beef, roast pork, smoked salmon, smoked chicken, Camembert cheese, and pickled vegetables—everything I love! I was very satisfied. At Cypress Resort Hotel in Kumejima, sparkling wine was offered for breakfast; I hoped it would be available here in Karuizawa as well but unfortunately not. It would have been even better if there were views of the forest scenery. I would love to stay again!
