    The bathroom was disappointing.

    At check-in, a Japanese woman briefly appeared, but the rest of the service until check-out was handled by foreign staff. While having foreign staff is not an issue, their Japanese was limited, making in-depth conversations difficult. The room was dark and the heating did not work well. The private open-air bath attached to each room seemed to be a highlight but was almost like a cold bath. It appeared that the water had not been replaced or cleaned properly. Dinner was delicious, but while breakfast had many items, it felt like a random assortment of dishes. I don't think I would stay here again.

    Accommodation for Special Occasions

    We stayed here for the first time to celebrate my 82-year-old mother's birthday. As a gift from a daughter who had never done much for her hardworking mother, this onsen trip was meant to create memorable moments together. This accommodation consists of only eight detached villas located on a spacious hilltop property. The rooms, renovated from traditional Japanese houses, are charmingly designed, spacious, and very quiet. From the moment we entered, time seemed to flow slowly and peacefully. Every room offers stunning views of the Izu mountains and Suruga Bay, with breathtaking sunsets visible from both private open-air baths in the rooms and reserved open-air baths. The amenities were well-stocked with plenty of towels and even bathrobes provided—perfect for enjoying time on the large balcony during warmer weather. Although we didn’t use it this time, there is also an esthetic service available. The skincare products provided in each room are gentle on the skin, making it convenient for women to enjoy their stay without bringing much luggage. For dinner, each room has its own private dining space in the main building where you can savor both mountain delicacies and seafood in a relaxed atmosphere. There’s also a wide selection of beverages available. For breakfast, guests can choose their preferred fish during dinner the night before; both rice and porridge are served alongside delicious dishes. With an uncommon check-in at 2 PM and check-out at 11 AM for a ryokan, there’s ample opportunity to enjoy multiple soaks in the onsen before dinner or after breakfast. With only a few rooms available at this accommodation, we rarely encountered other guests—it truly felt like our own private retreat. Considering its facilities and services offered here, I found it reasonably priced overall. Next year is my husband’s milestone birthday celebration (his 60th), so I would love to return again to create more wonderful memories!

    Enjoy ultimate relaxation with Onsen.

    I stayed at an accommodation I had been curious about for a while. The private open-air hot spring bath attached to the room, with no added water or heating, was absolutely amazing. Watching the sunset from the bath was truly satisfying. I would love to stay here again!

    Reminded me of Bali.

    It was wonderful. The location of the accommodation, the room, the bath, the meals, and the hospitable staff—everything was satisfying. We enjoyed both the private open-air bath in our room and two reserved open-air baths. We were lucky to stay at a great rate with a same-day morning reservation. I would love to stay here again as a treat when I want to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our room was a single-story type called "Uzura," located closest to the front desk. Since I admire single-story accommodations, this choice was perfect for me. Highly recommended for those who want to relax quietly while enjoying onsen and delicious meals!

    Everything was perfect!!

    Ocean View × Private Open-Air Bath The view from the room was amazing! We stayed in a maisonette-type room called "Shio," and we enjoyed two different views—one from the second floor and another from the first floor. The room had a serene, traditional atmosphere with a ReFa hairdryer and Misuzu amenities featuring human stem cell technology, which were highly praised in reviews. I usually bring my own amenities, but since the reviews were so good, I tried Misuzu's products provided in the room—and they were fantastic! My skin felt so smooth! The private open-air bath was spacious and wonderful. The complimentary milk provided at the bath was also a nice touch. Each dish served during our meals was elegant and absolutely delicious. Moreover, the staff's hospitality was exceptional! The foreign staff members worked hard, and the Japanese staff offered top-notch service as well. When we left, they waved until we were out of sight. This accommodation truly helped me relax and warmed my heart. I definitely want to visit again!

    Accommodation for a Relaxing Stay

    We stayed as a family of three and were very satisfied with the staff's service, the room, the meals, and the bath. The original cosmetic amenities were excellent. Although there seemed to be many foreign staff members, they provided seamless explanations about the meals and guidance to our room, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable stay. Located in a quiet area on elevated ground, it offers great views with beautiful sunsets. It was an accommodation where we could relax and unwind. Highly recommended!

    This is my second stay this year.

    This was our second stay this year as my wife liked it, but... There were issues from the moment we arrived at the parking lot. A foreign staff member mentioned that there seemed to be no Reservation, but it turned out to be a ledger mistake, and the Reservation was indeed made. In such situations, communication can be challenging without Japanese staff. While I appreciate their effort to speak Japanese, if customers cannot understand them, it doesn't count as effective communication. The charming Room in the traditional house had several issues: - The wooden deck was uneven with nails sticking out. - The Onsen outlet made loud noises audible even in the bedroom (possibly due to a hole or crack in the pipe; this could eventually lead to high-temperature water spraying out and causing burns). - The entrance shoji screen was torn with holes. - Weeds were overgrown and left unattended. - Trees obstructed most of the ocean view. On a positive note, meals have significantly improved compared to last time—likely due to a new head chef—and we enjoyed them very much. The quality of the Onsen is excellent and it's quiet here, which we appreciated before; however, for now, we don't feel like returning anytime soon. Immediate improvements such as setting up a Japanese hotline and conducting Facility inspections are necessary; otherwise, guests might get injured or burned.

    Completely satisfied in the past.

    The dinner was the standard course, featuring abalone grilled on the shell, spiny lobster, tender beef, and other delicious dishes that were highly satisfying. The Room's bath was a natural hot spring with free-flowing water, without the chlorine smell often found in other Hotels, making it very pleasant to use. It was a perfect Hotel experience.

    A Memorable Anniversary

    We stayed here to celebrate our anniversary. As we love enjoying good meals and soaking in an onsen during our travels, we decided to stay at this accommodation, which had been the most satisfying place we've ever stayed for a special occasion. Upon researching, we found an anniversary plan that included a bouquet, cake, and wine—an easy decision for us. Each room has its own unique charm with no identical types available, allowing us to enjoy the open-air bath differently each time we visit. Meals were served in semi-private dining spaces where we could relax comfortably. After dinner, we received a beautiful bouquet and cake that truly warmed both our hearts and stomachs. We spent the evening watching movies in our room before heading to the private bath at night. Although it was unfortunate weather on that day, we've heard that you can see stunning starry skies in Nishi-Izu when it's clear. We're looking forward to visiting again on a sunny day! Thanks to this wonderful experience, we had an unforgettable anniversary celebration here. We hope to return as repeat guests frequently in the future!

    I loved the open-air bath in the Room.

    The facility may feel old, but it has a charming and nostalgic atmosphere. Above all, the design of the private open-air bath in the room and the soothing flow of natural hot spring water were truly relaxing. I didn’t have high expectations for the meals, but they exceeded them. The refined flavors allowed me to fully enjoy both visually and taste-wise. Next time, I’d like to stay in a different room with a unique ambiance. I personally used the TV as a speaker to enjoy jazz from my smartphone, but it would be wonderful if speakers could also be provided in the rooms. Please consider this suggestion!

    The Onsen is excellent!

    Stayed for one night from October 11th to 12th. The room has a traditional Japanese house style, offering a very calming atmosphere. From the balcony, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the ocean, providing a great sense of openness. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, we couldn't see the sunset or starry sky, but we plan to come back someday for another try. The Onsen in the room is sourced directly from the hot spring and has just the right temperature with a smooth texture and a faint mineral scent. After bathing, your skin feels silky smooth. There are two private baths available with excellent views. Complimentary milk and coffee milk are provided after bathing. The meals are exquisite! Both breakfast and dinner were extremely satisfying. Highly recommended!

    We highly recommend

    I stayed in the Takenoko Room. The view of Suruga Bay from the room was excellent, and I could relax without worrying about being seen by others. Before my stay, I read various reviews, and I was impressed that any issues mentioned had been properly addressed, giving me the impression of a proactive accommodation with quick responses. The staff's warm smiles and hospitality were wonderful, making me want to visit again after a long time. Thank you for your hospitality.

    I chose this accommodation based on the reviews. From the pick-up service to meal serving, most of the staff I encountered were foreign. While I could see their efforts, their Japanese language skills seemed insufficient, and I couldn't fully understand them. The items I requested were never delivered, and there was no explanation about the dishes served. The food itself wasn't bad, but part of the experience here is enjoying the atmosphere, isn't it? I only caught a glimpse of one Japanese staff member at the very end. This was my first time staying at an accommodation that cuts labor costs to this extent. While some wear and tear in facilities due to aging is understandable, issues like dust on ventilation fans or cobwebs near the guest room bath could be addressed with proper cleaning. There was an air conditioner above my futon pillow; when I looked up and saw it filled with dust inside—yikes! This experience was so shocking that it made me want to write a review for the first time ever.

    The view from the accommodation is excellent.

    This is an accommodation I had been curious about for a long time. I love West Izu and stay at various places there every year. I have stayed at accommodations with open-air baths in the room or private baths several times, but the view from the private bath here was exceptional. The view from the room was not great, but I would like to try a different room next time. Thank you very much.

    Our Couple's Delightful Accommodation

    We were able to check in a bit earlier than planned this time. This was our third stay, so the check-in process was very smooth. Since the weather was gloomy, we decided to skip exploring Biwa Hill and relax in our room instead. The Sumire Room is very spacious and offers a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The furnishings are simple yet tasteful and exude a sense of luxury. The highlight of this accommodation is undoubtedly the private open-air onsen bath attached to the room, which features genuine natural hot spring water with no heating, added water, or circulation systems. The bathtub is spacious enough for two people to enjoy comfortably. Additionally, there is a free private open-air onsen located at a higher elevation than the room, which is even larger with stunning views. Another delightful touch is the complimentary cold milk or coffee milk available after bathing. As for meals, dinner featured an array of luxurious ingredients prepared extravagantly; everything from taste and portion size to presentation and service was top-notch. Breakfast also offered a wide variety of delicious dishes in just the right portions. The staff here are all cheerful, friendly, kind-hearted, and leave an excellent impression. With abundant amenities that cater to every need for relaxation, my wife has grown particularly fond of Biwa-san's hospitality. We definitely plan to return again soon when we have another opportunity. Thank you once again for another wonderful stay!

    The view was great, and I was able to relax.

    This was my first visit. I was able to stay at the accommodation at a reasonable price through an affordable plan on IKYU.com. As I mentioned in the survey at the accommodation, I noticed that the flower arrangements in the room and dining area were artificial, and the dirt on the vases stood out. With such a spacious property, even adding a single seasonal flower could change the atmosphere significantly. The service provided by foreign staff members was polite and left a good impression, which made this point stand out more to me. The food was flavorful and delicious. However, having both porridge and white rice for breakfast felt like too much; it would be nice if there were an option to choose between them.

    Used for a wedding anniversary

    I have stayed at the same chain before, but this was my first time using this accommodation for our wedding anniversary. The meals were plentiful and satisfying, even for men! I enjoyed the seasonal matsutake mushrooms and the tender, delicious Shizuoka beef. The room's carefully selected onsen water required some temperature adjustment, but I was able to relax while soaking and watching the sunset. We also used the private open-air bath both at night and in the morning; the water temperature was just right, allowing us to enjoy a long soak while taking in the scenery. The coffee milk after bathing was rich and delicious. One downside is that due to being surrounded by nature, crickets appeared in our room, which surprised us a bit. Additionally, from 9 AM until check-out time, the onsen water in our room stopped flowing; as a result, we couldn't enjoy it because of reduced water levels—a bit disappointing. The water started flowing again just before we left the room. There were many foreign staff members who worked hard to provide good service. Overall, including food and baths, we were satisfied with our stay!

    We enjoyed it as a family.

    I was really looking forward to it, and it exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed the bath in the room multiple times and also visited the private open-air baths several times, all of which had great views and provided a relaxing experience. The milk and coffee milk at the private open-air baths were delightful, and they tasted even better in glass bottles. The meals were especially delicious with satisfying variety and portions. Dinner included tasty sashimi, meat, and an exceptional eel tofu dish. Although there was quite a lot of food, I managed to finish everything. For breakfast, I could choose from different types of dried fish; the skin was crispy, accompanied by rice as well as porridge—again finishing everything on my plate! Both morning and evening meals left me feeling completely full—I’m sure I gained weight in just one day! The staff members were foreigners but provided excellent service; they seemed to have studied Japanese culture thoroughly. The decorations placed around the accommodation were simple yet tasteful, offering a soothing atmosphere just by looking at them. If I may suggest improvements: having more power outlets in the room would make charging phones easier, and adding a trash bin in the room would be convenient. My whole family was extremely satisfied with this accommodation. We definitely want to visit again!

    Every time I choose ...

    Every time I choose an accommodation, I prioritize onsen and meals. Based on reviews from others mentioning the delicious food, I was looking forward to it. As the reviews suggested, every dish from the appetizers to the final dessert was incredibly delicious. Neither my husband nor I are particularly light eaters, but by the time we were served the main dish, we were already quite full. For those who don't usually eat large portions, this would be more than satisfying in terms of volume. As for another highlight—the bath—the quality of the water was soft and very pleasant. However, one disappointing aspect was that there were plants near our private open-air bath that attracted hornets constantly. We had to bathe nervously while worrying if they might fly toward us. While it's a natural occurrence and unavoidable, it was unfortunate that fear of bees prevented us from fully enjoying a relaxing soak. The day before our stay, we received a call to check our reservation and experienced warm hospitality during both arrival and departure. The room guidance and meal service were provided by international staff members who left a positive impression with their polite service.

    Time passed slowly and peacefully.

    The room we stayed in was a single-story Japanese-Western style accommodation. It was a spacious and beautiful Japanese-style space that instantly relieved our travel fatigue. The private open-air bath attached to the room was also excellent. The bathtub was generously sized, and the location provided an incredible sense of openness. The meals were satisfying in every aspect—presentation, taste, and portion size. Of course, there were some minor details that caught our attention. However, even at the most luxurious accommodations, there are always small things to notice. Overall, both my spouse and I were extremely satisfied with this accommodation.

    Akane's Room

    This accommodation with a private open-air bath was the best I have ever stayed at, offering both an exceptional open-air bath and meals (breakfast and dinner) at a reasonable price. The private open-air bath in the room is fed directly from the hot spring source. The kaiseki dinner included dishes like eel hot pot, which I tried for the first time and found absolutely amazing. It was an accommodation where I could truly forget about time. Thank you very much!

    Very relaxing and highly satisfying.

    My stay was very satisfying. The staff provided warm and attentive service, making me feel comfortable from the moment I arrived. The meals were excellent in both quantity and taste, with dishes made from local ingredients that were so delicious I couldn't help but overeat.     The Ryokan had a ver...

    The Ryokan had a very pleasant atmosphere. However, there was a mistake with the drink order during the meal, which seemed to stem from a lack of language understanding by the foreign staff. I hope this can be addressed thoroughly. I chose not to point it out at the time. After being shown to our room, I noticed that unlike other places where indoor geta are usually placed neatly at the room entrance, this was not done here. This also seemed to reflect a lack of attentiveness from the foreign staff, which was disappointing. The meals for both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The room itself was spacious with plenty of amenities, which I found excellent. As for the Onsen, the indoor bath had a nice ambiance and offered views of the sea. However, I did notice that the water pressure in our room's shower was slightly weak. There were two types of outdoor baths available; we used Kappa no Yu and enjoyed its pleasant atmosphere. Complimentary milk was provided after bathing—thank you!

    The fireworks were clearly visible.

    Thank you for your hospitality once again. We stayed during the Summer Festival Fireworks event, and since the accommodation is located on a hill, we had a great view of the fireworks from our room. Both the food and facilities were very satisfying.

    It was not suitable for me.

    There is no hospitality expected of a high-class Ryokan. The foreign staff members were doing their best. However, it was very disappointing that the purpose of the service and how they wanted guests to spend their time were not communicated clearly.

    Everything was perfect!

    We visit Nishi-Izu several times a year, but this was our first time staying at this accommodation, which our daughter reserved for us. In recent years, we have been choosing accommodations with open-air baths in the room, and Musoan Biwa was truly exceptional. While it’s common to find some dust in most accommodations, we were amazed by how impeccably clean this place was. There are many foreign staff members here, but all of them worked with smiles and great attentiveness, which left a strong impression on us. The meals were all delicious, and the alcohol was reasonably priced. I couldn’t help but ask my daughter about the price; considering the quality here, it would cost double elsewhere. We definitely want to stay here again!
