    We had a great time.

    It was a wonderful Accommodation. They responded courteously to my inquiries in advance, which left a great impression. The Onsen was truly excellent. The large public bath has a spacious indoor bath and three types of open-air baths, and the private open-air bath can be used free of charge anytime if available, so I was able to enjoy the Onsen again and again. The fish soup I had in the post-bath lounge area in the morning was delicious. The Room we stayed in had its own open-air bath, and it was blissful to soak whenever I wanted while listening to the sound of the waves. It was a maisonette-style Room with sinks and toilets on both floors, which was very convenient. In the lounge, drinks as well as sweets and snacks were provided, and it was nice to be able to enjoy them for free. The meal we had at the dining area exclusively for annex guests was also very delicious—both the seafood and the meat were excellent. It was such a lovely Accommodation that I would recommend it to others.

    A wonderful Accommodation with an excellent Onsen!

    We stayed for one night with a couple of friends. The Accommodation is a bit old, but nothing bothered us. The Onsen is rich in minerals, and it left our skin feeling smooth—wonderful. The private bath was free, and we used it twice! And above all, the meals were excellent. The grilled dancing abalone was amazing! The sashimi was delicious too. We want to come back just to eat again. We could also take a walk along the coast, and it was a relaxing weekend. Thank you!

    It’s a clean and comfortable accommodation, but

    This is a clean and comfortable Accommodation. We requested a Room with beds. It had a modern design: half was tatami with the beds on top, and the other half was stone flooring, where you switch to dedicated footwear to use it—an unusual style. You can even step out onto the balcony wearing those slippers. Is it an inner balcony? Since we stayed as three people, a futon was laid out in the narrow space at the foot of the beds, and I felt it might get stepped on if someone got up to use the restroom at night. I think this Room is best for up to two guests. The Shuttle Service driver also gave us some local guidance, and the roughly 20-minute ride was enjoyable. The lounge being available for long hours was also great. The front desk explanation was very brief, and I would have appreciated more detailed information—for example, whether bath towels are provided in the large public bath. As for dinner, it was a bit disappointing that there seemed to be only one spiny lobster shared among three people. However, the alfonsino had a large fillet and was satisfying, and the abalone was big, tender, and delicious. That said, the other dishes felt sparse: the hot pot was basically a small yudofu with just a few ingredients, and even the appetizers were quite minimal. Perhaps they are short-staffed, but from the start everything (appetizers, abalone, small hot pot) was set out at once like on a school trip. Because we were celebrating something special, we asked for a message plate and were told it would cost 330 yen since it would be outsourced. What arrived on our dessert plate was simply one of those chocolate message plaques often placed on cakes. If instead they wrote directly on the dessert plate like many restaurants do (rather than using a chocolate plaque), I don’t think an extra charge would be necessary—and adding sparklers would make it feel more festive. Also, I think there is room to improve dessert overall. Since this isn’t an expensive place to stay or dine at all-out luxury levels may be asking too much—but I hope this Accommodation will become even better.

    If you treat it purely as sightseeing...

    I stayed here for breakfast only, paying in the 30,000-yen range to see the Kawazu cherry blossoms. I arrived at the Hotel before 9:00 p.m. There were two elderly men in the lobby, and it was hard to understand what they were saying due to unclear speech. I was handed a key and went up to my Room on my own. The Room felt quite dated, and there was a strong unpleasant odor from the toilet, so I used an aroma diffuser I had brought with me. Since it is right by the sea, opening the window lets you hear the sound of the waves, which was nice. The large public bath wasn’t crowded—perhaps because it was late—so I could relax. Breakfast had a standard selection and taste. The chairs have heavy stains and dirt; they should be reupholstered. Outside of cherry blossom season and beach season, this is a very inexpensive Hotel. If you view it as a Business Hotel-style stay, it may be fine.

    I’m a returning guest.

    I have visited Izu more than 50 times to enjoy the Onsen and seafood. Recently, I often stay at Kiichiyu to see the Kawazu cherry blossoms. February is my birthday month, and I truly appreciate the attentive service from the staff.\n\nThe welcome drink, the dinner menu (the simmered golden eye snapper was outstanding), and the room renovations have improved year by year, and I can really feel your continued efforts. I was very satisfied.\n\nI will definitely return again. Thank you in advance.

    I was surprised.

    I had called in advance to request a dessert plate forfinal. It was for my father’s birthday, and I was asked what message to write, which I provided. I also reminded the staff again at check-in. After our meal, when it was time for dessert, the staff brought something saying it was “for the birthday guest,” but it turned out to be chopsticks and chocolate. The chopsticks were a thoughtful touch, but inside a flimsy white paper bag they handed us was just a single message plaque meant to go on top of a cake… Is that what you mean by a “dessert plate”? At the very least, I wish it had been presented on a plate. Also, although no one mentioned any extra charge, we were billed 300 yen as a “cake fee” (was that supposed to be the cake?). If this couldn’t be arranged, I would have appreciated being told in advance so we could have prepared something ourselves. The food was delicious, but this was very surprising. Other than that, it was nice and relaxing.

    I stayed in a detached guest room quite a while ago and it was very good, so I visited again, but I regret coming this time. This time I chose the cheapest Plan, a Japanese-style Room. The carpet in the veranda area was old, and there was heavy grime such as spilled food stuck in the gap between it and the floor. The curtains were also old. The facilities are quite aged overall, so if you care about the Room, I should have chosen a renovated one. There were loungewear items, but the size didn’t fit; I asked to have them exchanged. The towels were two stiff bath towels per person plus hand towels, and there was an old, faded hand towel at the sink. The futon mattress was hard and I couldn’t fall asleep. Colorful yukata for women cost an additional 500 yen. There was pick-up service, but we were asked whether an explanation of the facilities was necessary. Since I had stayed before, I said it would be fine—but from that point on it felt disappointing. Last time tea and sweets were brought to us at check-in right in front of us, but this time we were told to use the lounge because free drinks are available there. The selection is truly limited: alcohol is beer only; plus coffee, tea bags, and grape juice. There are only 2–3 kinds of snacks/nibbles. There are also strict time restrictions. Dinner included seafood such as spiny lobster sashimi, abalone, and simmered golden eye snapper (kinmedai), which was enjoyable—but meat costs extra. Alcohol of course costs extra if you order it. Hot tea is provided free if you ask for it, but cold oolong tea costs extra. Breakfast was very ordinary. Last time cold dried fish was served as-is; perhaps they improved it—this time staff lightly seared it with a burner before serving. About the only good things were the baths and the view. We could use any of the three private baths as much as we liked when they were available, and the public bath is spacious with a good water temperature. However, I was shocked to see that part of the ceiling board in one private bath had opened up significantly! I informed staff about it, but it felt unsettling and ruined my mood. Finally: behind the computer at checkout—fully visible to guests—was covered in dust and extremely dirty! As last time (and again this time), there was no send-off upon departure. A young male staff member stood by near the exit and only said “Thank you” once. Overall service feels stripped down and cleaning feels careless. I don’t know if they are short-staffed or not, but I can’t recommend this place to anyone who wants attentive hospitality. There are many places where you can enjoy yourself without worrying about time or money (such as all-inclusive options), so I won’t be returning.

    I wish I had gone earlier!

    I stayed at Kichiyu for a commemorative trip, a place I had been curious about for a long time. I reserved a Japanese-style room, and although the website photos made it look dim and mentioned that smoking rooms were on the same floor, I called in advance to inform them of my tobacco allergy. They kindly arranged an air purifier for me. Upon entering the room, it was bright and beautiful—much better than the photos suggested. The lounge was cozy, there was a free private Onsen, delicious food, soothing sounds of waves, and the stunning Yumigahama beach. The staff's hospitality was excellent; I wished I had visited sooner. The open-air bath in the large public bath area felt spacious like a day-use Onsen facility. Listening to the sound of waves while gazing at the night sky made for an unforgettable experience. At breakfast, it took about an hour after opening for some lights to be turned on—it seemed like they might have forgotten—but even so, the breakfast staff were cheerful and efficient, making it pleasant overall. Next time I'd love to stay in one of their maisonette rooms. However... despite informing them that this was a commemorative trip beforehand, there wasn’t any celebratory gesture or acknowledgment from their side—it felt ignored and left me feeling sad. A few years ago when staying at their sister accommodation "Inatori-so," we mentioned that our trip was to celebrate my father’s recovery from illness. They offered kind words of congratulations which deeply moved him; he later expressed how happy he had been during that stay before passing away shortly after. Remembering this moment while soaking in the bath brought tears to my eyes this time around—it’s unfortunate they didn’t do something similar here.

    The room, the bath, and above all, the meals were all very satisfying. Thank you very much. However, it was disappointing that the staff at the shop had a very unpleasant attitude. Still, this is my favorite accommodation so far, so I will visit again. Looking forward to it!

    The facility is excellent, but there are issues with meal service.

    We stayed for two nights in a maisonette suite with an open-air bath at a ryokan we had wanted to visit for years. The room, onsen, and scenery were truly wonderful, and based on the facilities and atmosphere alone, it was a place we would want to stay again. However, there were significant issues with meal arrangements, particularly regarding the inconsistency between prior communication about children's meals and the actual service provided onsite. Before our stay, we emailed to discuss that our 9-year-old child could not eat most of the adult-style meals. We received a clear response stating that while the price would remain unchanged, they could provide "a kids' meal style + steak" upon request. We agreed to this arrangement before booking. On the first night, however, the kids' meal served consisted mainly of sashimi and tempura—items our child could hardly eat—leaving them only able to eat steak and rice while leaving much of their meal untouched. While we felt apologetic about this situation ourselves, one staff member kindly suggested changing it for the second night to individual items like hamburg steak or fried chicken along with steak instead of another kids' meal style dish. Grateful for this offer, we requested those changes. Unfortunately though during dinner on day two yet another kids’ menu appeared instead; when questioned further by us staff explained inconsistencies such as “fried chicken isn’t possible” nor was hamburg included unless paid extra despite being same person who’d offered otherwise earlier day prior leading confusion delays lasting over thirty minutes repeatedly leaving table unattended meanwhile adults’ courses delayed too example sashimi missing hour-long gaps disrupting flow overall dining experience altogether ultimately steaks forgotten initially requiring reminders finally arriving late nearing end entire ordeal spanning nearly hours total duration altogether. While management later intervened offering complimentary drinks compensating partially morning following breakfast interactions lacked acknowledgment explanations unresolved checkout billing discrepancies needing corrections initiated guest side themselves detracting overall impression negatively overshadowing positives elsewhere throughout property itself unfortunately disappointing given potential otherwise promising revisit-worthy destination pending operational improvements addressing highlighted concerns adequately moving forward especially families traveling younger children     The temperature of the Onsen bath in the room was low.

    Stayed in a maisonette-type room with an Onsen for the first time in three years, but the Onsen temperature was low, making it feel like I might catch a cold. While the low outdoor temperature may have contributed, it was a bit disappointing since the meals and room interior were excellent. Not recommended for winter stays.

    Previously, I stayed at this accommodation with my sister and had a wonderful experience, so this time we chose it for a family trip! Thank you for providing us with a spacious room as the special room was available. The extraordinary atmosphere and delicious meals made the entire family very satisfied. We especially appreciated being able to choose the fish. The lounge was also perfect for relaxing with family. We look forward to staying here again!

    This is my third stay.

    This is my third visit. The renovation has made it very beautiful, and both the hot water and the view were excellent. The view from the open-air bath in the Room was also great. The steamed abalone was tender, and the cooking performance of Ise lobster right in front of us was amazing. Thank you for your hospitality. I will use this service again.

    It exceeded expectations.

    Every year-end, we plan a trip to the Izu area and choose an accommodation near the seaside with private dining and rooms with open-air baths. This time, we decided to stay at Tokiichiyu. This hotel has a limited number of guest rooms, offering a calm and relaxing atmosphere with excellent facilities. The staff's service was outstanding, and above all, the dinner was exceptional—featuring freshly prepared Ise lobster sashimi right in front of us. All dishes were delicious, but the simmered golden eye snapper stood out for its exquisite seasoning—it was incredibly tasty. The onsen system is also great; family baths can be used without prior reservation if available. Overall, this is an excellent hotel that left us completely satisfied. Our family visits various onsen accommodations three times a year across different regions, but this facility ranks highly in our evaluations. We look forward to visiting again during warmer seasons!

    The ocean is right in front, and you can hear the sound of waves while relaxing in the open-air bath in your room, providing a soothing experience. The seasonal meals were all delicious and truly impressive. This is a hotel you'd want to stay at during every season—spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

    Everything was perfect!

    We stayed at this accommodation for a family trip (my mother, sister, and myself - three women). It was incredibly quiet and relaxing, with only the sound of the waves, making it a very comfortable place to stay. The staff were always smiling and provided polite and pleasant service. Both dinner and breakfast featured a variety of fresh seafood dishes that were refined in taste, leaving us completely satisfied. (It was my first time enjoying such delicious abalone.) The beach at Yumigahama is just a 2-3 minute walk away, so we took strolls there in the morning and evening. Since it was December and off-season, there were hardly any people around—it felt like having our own private beach! (The white sand and clear sea are truly beautiful.) We used the large communal bath which also had three open-air baths; they weren’t crowded at all, making for a comfortable experience. Personally, I prefer slightly hotter water temperatures—having one bath with higher heat as an option would be nice. As I don’t drink alcohol, I enjoyed coffee and grape juice instead; however, they also offered draft beer and local sake as part of their free-flow lounge service which was excellent. Overall, it was an outstanding accommodation experience. I look forward to visiting again soon!

    The evaluation was strict.

    Having visited numerous Onsen destinations on the Izu Peninsula, most of which exceeded or met my expectations, it is with great disappointment that I share my honest feedback about this accommodation. Attracted by the scenic beauty of Yumigahama and the high ratings on IKYU.com, I decided to make a reservation here. Upon arriving by car, a male staff member greeted me but made no effort to assist with my luggage (though it wasn’t much) and directed me to climb stairs to reach the front desk located on the second floor. After being seated and waiting for some time, one of the limited reception staff (I believe there were only two) finally attended to me in a rather curt and businesslike manner. The check-in process was completed quickly, after which I was handed a key and told to find my room myself—an experience quite rare among accommodations I've stayed at before. There was no explanation about emergency exits or any welcoming gestures that would make guests feel valued. The room itself was an upper-class maisonette-style unit in a detached area of the facility; however, unfortunately for me, its semi-open-air bath faced inland and felt exposed as it could be seen from afar across what seemed like a canal. No explanation about using this bath was provided either—just brief instructions stating that guests could use either the large communal bath or private baths if available. As for dinner, given the price paid per night, I had expected private dining where dishes are served individually with care. Instead, we were seated in a corner of a large dining hall where most dishes had already been laid out beforehand—a treatment akin to group tour packages. While abalone steak appeared to be their highlight dish, everything else felt comparable to meals at budget accommodations—a disappointing experience overall. Later on, I learned there is apparently an exclusive dining area for detached rooms depending on meal selections; however, such details were not clear during booking. Breakfast consisted of buffet-style offerings barely above what you’d expect at Business Hotels—not impressive at all. Check-out mirrored check-in: impersonal without even so much as someone seeing us off—it felt like we were left entirely on our own throughout our stay despite not sensing overwhelming guest numbers during our visit. Given these experiences combined with how highly rated this place is on IKYU.com leaves me questioning their evaluation system altogether—I hope they consider revising it thoroughly moving forward. While external factors such as labor shortages or rising material costs may play roles here too—my honest takeaway remains that basic hospitality principles need revisiting urgently within this establishment’s operations if they wish future guests’ stays end positively rather than leaving bitter impressions behind like mine did today! My apologies if this review comes across harshly but transparency matters greatly when sharing constructive criticism aimed toward improvement!

    This is an accommodation I would like to visit again.

    I stayed here for a birthday celebration. The room faced the ocean, and the sound of the waves was incredibly soothing. I thought it would be nice to relax on the balcony if it were a bit warmer. The private Onsen was relatively available, and I used it twice—before and after dinner. The temperature was perfect, allowing me to fully unwind. Dinner offered a wide variety of dishes, with fish as the main focus, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also requested a birthday cake, and the staff's thoughtful gestures and service made it an unforgettable experience. The room, food, and Onsen all exceeded my expectations. I'd love to come back again to stay in one of their rooms with an Onsen or a maisonette-style room that I couldn't try this time.

    The nearest station is Izukyu-Shimoda Station, but it takes 20 minutes by car from the station. The accommodation is located in Yumigahama.

    The cuisine was excellent.

    We stayed here for a family trip. The staff's hospitality (especially the woman who served us during dinner and breakfast), the quality of the food, the cleanliness and spaciousness of the Room, and the location were all excellent. The Room we stayed in had stairs inside, which was a bit challenging for my parents with leg issues, but they kept saying it was amazing regardless. We would love to visit again. The simmered golden eye snapper is often lightly seasoned in Tokyo, but here it was richly flavored yet not overwhelming—a true professional touch that I found incredible.

    Seating During Breakfast

    The food was delicious, and it was a great accommodation. However, one disappointing point was the method of reserving breakfast seats. We placed our card to reserve a seat, went to get food, and when we returned, someone else's card, room key, and smartphone were on the seat we had reserved. It seems they didn't notice our card placed in the designated spot and assumed the seat was available, which left us feeling unpleasant in the morning. We hope for improvements in the seating arrangement process.

    From the moment we arrived at the Hotel until we left, we were able to relax and feel completely comfortable. Enjoying draft beer in the lounge, soaking leisurely in the Onsen, and lounging in our Room while listening to the sound of waves—it was all so delightful. The meals were delicious! This time, I was especially happy that they served simmered golden-eye snapper with small white rice. My wife and daughter enjoyed local sake and wine in the lounge even after dinner. Every visit makes us want to come back again—this is truly a wonderful Hotel.

    It was my first visi...

    It was my first visit in a while. I usually stay in the maisonette type room to enjoy meals at "Shun no Arika," but this time, I booked two executive twin rooms for a business couple visiting from Spain. The male staff member who assisted us at the private dining area provided excellent service, and the meal was just as impressive as "Shun no Arika," leaving the Spanish couple deeply impressed. The simmered golden eye snapper and fried dishes were exceptionally delicious. The rooms were clean, spacious enough for two people, and the beds were very comfortable. The open-air bath in the room was convenient and enjoyable, but during winter, the cold air from outside might make the washing area feel chilly, which was my only concern. However, with great facilities like the large public bath and private baths available, it wasn’t a major issue but a slight disappointment. I look forward to staying here again.

    Japanese-style Resort

    Timeless and elegant exterior. Fresh flowers at the front desk and sophisticated lighting. A large public bath, three open-air baths, and three private baths available free of charge. Complimentary miso soup service in the morning after bathing. This is a relaxing accommodation that has remained unchanged for about 30 years. Instead of waiting in front of the reception during check-in, it would be better to guide guests to the lounge with complimentary drinks while explaining the facilities (as welcome drinks and snacks previously left a good impression during check-in). Please note that there are no skincare products such as lotion or moisturizer in the public bath's washroom, so we recommend bringing your own items. Enjoy delicious Ise lobster, abalone, and golden eye snapper while taking in the stunning location right by Yumigahama Beach—a beloved accommodation we hope will continue to thrive!

    We thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen, the scenery, and the cuisine.

    I chose this accommodation driven by the desire to stay at a place with an onsen, where I could enjoy the ocean view up close and listen to the sound of waves. Although it was far, my initial expectations were exceeded, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The high-quality onsen that made me feel like I could soak forever, the spacious and clean open-air bath & large public bath that felt almost private, and the room with a wide balcony where I could relax while watching the sea and listening to the waves—all left a lasting impression. The room was also equipped with two sinks in a clean bathroom. The seafood-focused dinner was exceptional; every dish was delicious. In particular, having simmered golden-eye snapper served with a small portion of white rice brought me immense joy. The free-flow service added to my satisfaction as well. Additionally, the miso soup served early in the morning was delightful. However, I deducted one star due to two incidents: upon arrival from the bus stop, there seemed to be some confusion as we were mistaken for being part of another group; despite several staff members being present, no one approached us for some time or guided us promptly to reception. Secondly, during breakfast at the buffet line for grilled fish (himono), when I mistakenly picked up an incorrect plate while waiting in line due to unclear instructions or signage, I received rather stern remarks from staff which felt unnecessarily harsh. I understand these may have been unintentional actions during busy times but believe clearer guidance would help improve such situations. Despite these minor issues and considering its distance from home making frequent visits challenging—I sincerely hope for another opportunity someday soon where we can once again enjoy this beautiful ocean view alongside wonderful onsen experiences paired perfectly with exquisite cuisine!

    I had a relaxing stay this time as well.

    We enjoyed a relaxing time soaking in the bath multiple times in the same room we loved during our previous stay. We also used the large public bath and family bath, which were equally satisfying. Meals were served in a private room, and both the quality and quantity exceeded our expectations. Watching the chef prepare fresh spiny lobster sashimi right before us was an unforgettable experience—the sweet, firm texture of the lobster was truly impressive. The draft beer served in the lounge after bathing was perfect, and the miso soup with fish broth we had before breakfast was exceptional. This is truly an accommodation we want to visit again and again, and we look forward to returning soon!

    This was our second ...

    This was our second visit since celebrating my daughter's 2nd birthday here 18 years ago. This time, we came for a trip to celebrate her 20th birthday. The room was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed opening the large windows to listen to the sound of the waves while gazing at the sea beyond the pine trees, as well as relaxing in the open-air bath. The Nespresso machine provided allowed us to enjoy delicious coffee too. We ordered a birthday cake for dinner, but when we felt too full to eat it then, they kindly brought it up to our room later with some tableware. This allowed us to celebrate leisurely in our room and enjoy the cake once we had settled down—it was delicious! The gift of chopsticks also made us very happy. My husband mentioned how refreshing it was to go running along the sandy beach path right outside the accommodation. Next time, we'd love a multiple night stay so we can relax even more during our visit. Thank you again!
