    We had a very relaxing stay.

    My spouse and I travel to various places two or three times a year. This time, we were able to Reserve Kiichiyu early—something we’d been interested in for a while—and visited with great anticipation. From the Room to the entire Facility, everything was impeccably clean, and we were able to relax and enjoy a truly comfortable stay. The building design and furniture layout also felt spacious, creating an environment that made it easy to unwind. From the Room, we could see Yumigahama Beach beyond the pine grove. With the window open, the soothing sound of the waves was wonderful, and at night we were lucky enough to see a beautiful moon. The Onsen was at just the right temperature and very easy to soak in—it warmed us through. The sashimi at dinner was very fresh, and my wife and I each chose a different kinmedai option; we were completely satisfied. I’ve had simmered fish at many Accommodations, but this one is my favorite. My wife especially loved the beef baked in puff pastry. Breakfast was a well-portioned buffet, and everything was delicious. Above all, every staff member’s service and greetings were so cheerful and pleasant—an outstanding Accommodation with nothing to fault. We would definitely like to stay again.

    The meals were excellent.

    This was my second stay. The ocean is right in front of you. The meals are exceptionally delicious. The Onsen can be reserved for private use free of charge, and it’s so relaxing you’ll want to soak again and again. The fish soup served after a morning bath is also delicious. This Ryokan offers outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended.

    I guess it can’t be helped since it’s peak season.

    I stayed in an EXECUTIVE Twin Room with a private open-air Onsen bath. I have stayed in the maisonette rooms several times, and this time I chose a room without stairs. I heard it was renovated in December 2020, and the furnishings were very nice. The bright lighting at the vanity area and the swing mirror were especially convenient for doing makeup. Being able to see the beach from both the Room and the open-air Onsen bath was truly relaxing. We had our meals at Shun no Arika. I was very satisfied with the perfectly balanced seasoning and seasonal ingredients—exactly as expected. It was also interesting when a staff member explained that their simmered golden eye snapper is cooked in a way that keeps the flesh from becoming tough. I’m grateful to both the kitchen team and the staff who served us. Thank you very much. On the other hand, there were a few things that concerned me. The bathroom in the Room: while the open-air Onsen bath was wonderful, I think several improvements are needed for the shower booth. First, water pressure was extremely weak, so rinsing my hair took a long time—I felt like I might overheat. Also, black mold around the showerhead and door area stood out. In addition, perhaps due to cleaning with a stiff brush, the edge of the plastic bath chair was oddly frayed and felt prickly against my skin when sitting. Regarding housekeeping in general, I disliked seeing powdery wipe marks left on the sink as well as dirt on the tray where toothbrush cups are placed. Also, when an ottoman (the part that forms an L-shape) shifted slightly out of place, I could see between it and the sofa; there was lots of dust along with snack crumbs on tatami flooring underneath, plus what seemed to be cosmetics left behind by previous guests. That honestly made me feel very disappointed. One more thing: when lying on bed, I could constantly hear a knocking sound—like small pieces of wood hitting something hard—“knock knock knock…” It would stop briefly but start again soon after, sometimes with a slightly faster rhythm. I didn’t hear it between around 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., but after that it returned again. It may have been audible from other rooms as well; depending on someone’s sensitivity to noise, it could disturb sleep, so I hope you can look into it. I understand it may be difficult during peak season to address everything promptly, but this is an Accommodation I love and want to visit again—so I wrote this Review honestly.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    This was our first time staying here as a family. Since it was during the Obon holiday period, we could only make a one-night Reservation, but we were able to use the parking lot before check-in, change into our swimsuits, and even use the baths until 3:00 PM after check-out. Thanks to that, we were able to relax and enjoy a wonderful break even with just one night. We also enjoyed the free-flow drinks and snacks as a family in a relaxed atmosphere. Next time, we would like to stay with our whole family.

    Relax and unwind with the soothing view from your Room.

    The staff’s warm hospitality left a lasting impression on us. The Room was spacious, easy to use, and very comfortable. The ocean view seen through the trees was like a painting, and we never got tired of watching it while listening to the sound of the waves. The view from the in-room bath was especially wonderful. The private bath and the large public bath were also great, but the in-room bath was our favorite. The meals were carefully prepared, and both the presentation and taste were outstanding. Even our daughter, who is quite picky about food, finished everything. We would definitely love to stay again.

    It was excellent.

    Once again, from the Reservation stage onward, your courteous and kind service was outstanding. The Room, Onsen, and meals were all excellent, but above all, the staff’s hospitality is wonderful and makes me glad I come every time. In particular, the staff member who assists us in the private dining room is always exceptional. The male staff members on our previous visits were also excellent, and this time the female staff member was just as wonderful—her explanations were easy to understand, and her attentive service made it a pleasure to enjoy a delicious meal. We will definitely visit again, and we appreciate your continued support. Thank you very much again for this stay.

    I’d give it more than 5 stars.

    When I stayed last year, the food was excellent (including a performance where they prepared spiny lobster right in front of us), and there were plenty of complimentary services such as all-you-can-drink in the lounge, morning fish soup, and private baths, so I definitely wanted to stay again. This stay was also extremely satisfying. It’s far from my home, but I will definitely visit again. Thank you very much.

    Father’s Day Trip

    We arrived early, and even though the cleaning was still in progress, the staff welcomed us with a smile. The service was excellent, and we were very satisfied with the meals, the Onsen, and the Room. When we left, a male staff member said, “It’s a Father’s Day Onsen trip, isn’t it? Thank you,” and gave us a pair of chopsticks. We truly appreciate the thoughtful gesture. We would definitely like to visit again.

    Family Trip

    We stayed here as a group of three to celebrate my grandmother’s and my husband’s birthdays! The interior, the Room, and the private dining experience were all incredibly luxurious—an exceptional Accommodation. We were amazed to see that the abalone and spiny lobster were still alive when they were served. Thank you very much.

    The Room was clean and relaxing. It was also easy to get around the property. The food was tasty, but nothing in particular stood out. Overall, it felt neither especially good nor bad. Since the beach is nearby, I think the location is very convenient in summer.

    We enjoyed our stay.

    It was our first time staying here. The hand towel service at the front desk and the courteous explanations made for a great start. The Room was clean, and the breeze from the window felt wonderful. There was no excessive service, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay and were able to relax. The meals were a good portion size and delicious. The staff who served us were attentive in small ways, which we appreciated. Breakfast is buffet-style, but it leans more toward Japanese dishes, so my husband said it was a shame there were no scrambled eggs! The bath facilities include a spacious large public bath. We could bathe comfortably, and we also enjoyed the private bath at a leisurely pace. However, there are no bath towels available at night, so it would be helpful if they could always be stocked in the changing room. We also took our time strolling along beautiful Yumigahama Beach and felt refreshed. Thank you for taking care of us. We would love to visit again.

    I was able to relax.

    We visited as a family for my father, who is from Minamiizu and wanted to see Yumigahama once again. The Room faced the sea, and with the window open we could hear the waves all the time, which was very relaxing. The large public bath was also spacious and pleasant. For dinner, we enjoyed seasonal seafood to the fullest.

    The service was very pleasant and welcoming.

    This was our second stay. As before, the staff were very kind, and we had a comfortable stay. The food was, of course, delicious, and they thoughtfully adjusted dishes to make foods my wife doesn’t like easier for her to eat, which made her very happy. We were also glad to see the newly added welcome lounge.

    The hospitality is excellent.

    From pick-up at Izukyu-Shimoda Station to send-off, every staff member provided courteous, attentive service. It was never overbearing—always comfortable and pleasant. The meals featured fresh fish at both dinner and breakfast. The baths were clean, and we were grateful to be able to use the private bath free of charge. The location was excellent, right in front of Yumigahama Beach, with beautiful views and great opportunities for a walk.

    I felt refreshed both physically and mentally.

    This time, we stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. The tub was a little small, but the water temperature was just right. Surrounded by the sound of the waves and wonderfully fresh air, we felt healed both physically and mentally. At dinner in a private dining room, we were able to watch the chef prepare spiny lobster, and the service staff were excellent. In the Japanese-style Room, thick futons like a bed were laid out, and they were even more comfortable than a bed. A wonderful Accommodation with great value for money and nothing to fault.

    A great accommodation for a relaxing stay

    A wonderful location set just before the pine grove at Yumigahama. The building layout is easy to understand, making it simple to get to both the dining area and the baths. Although it’s right by the sea, you won’t be bothered by the sound of waves indoors. Large single-pane picture windows are used throughout, creating a luxurious space with outstanding views. The complimentary drinks service in the lounge at different times of day is a great touch—you can enjoy draft beer in the evening and even sparkling wine after dinner. Dinner features delicious fish dishes, with just the right amount to feel satisfied. The baths are spacious and very comfortable; I thought the design was excellent. I’ve stayed at many Onsen Accommodations, and this one is among the top class. In addition to the large public bath, there are three private baths that you can use freely when available, with a pleasant water temperature—almost like enjoying a special room with an open-air bath. It’s also much appreciated that you can use the baths until 11:00 in the morning, so you can take another soak after breakfast. Unfortunately we were caught in heavy rain, but next time I’d love to enjoy the seaside scenery on a clear day.

    We had a wonderful stay.

    We stayed for two nights to celebrate my father’s 90th birthday trip. Seeing that my elderly father has weakened legs, you kindly changed our entrance route from the stairs to the elevator, and we are truly grateful for your thoughtful care in many situations. We had our meals at “Shun no Arika,” and every dish was delicious. The staff’s warm smiles were also very comforting. My father laughed and said he didn’t even know how many times he said, “So good—so delicious.” Usually, my father only uses the bath in the Room, but this time he really liked the large public bath and went there many times. As soon as we got home, he requested that we spend his birthday at Kiichiyu again next year as well, so we would love to visit again. Thank you very much for everything.

    The Perfect Getaway

    This was my second stay. The open-air bath in the Room and the baths in the facility were clean, and the hot spring water quality was excellent—my skin felt silky smooth. Stepping out onto the balcony, the sea was right in front of me, and I could hear the waves; it was a relaxing time enjoying coffee. The kaiseki meal served in a private dining room and breakfast were just as satisfying as last time. Thank you very much.

    Relaxing Accommodation

    We stayed in the maisonette we had always dreamed of. The Room was far too spacious for two people and even had a bathroom, and from the terrace we could see the sea beyond a pine grove. With the sound of the waves, we enjoyed an elegant time that made us forget everyday life. All of the staff were very pleasant, and in particular, the staff member who assisted us after our bath and the person who took over our table partway through at the dining venue were wonderfully attentive. Every dish was delicious, and it was also great that in the lounge you can relax on comfortable sofas and enjoy offerings that change by time of day. A gentle, soothing Accommodation where you can feel thoughtful hospitality everywhere—we would love to visit again. The only disappointment was that there was no explanation of the dishes at all from the male staff member in charge of dinner.

    This Ryokan was outstanding in every way. From the cuisine to the Onsen. If I had to mention one thing, it would be even better with a wider selection of free-flow drinks (such as whiskey).

    This is our second stay, following our visit at the end of the year.

    We stayed here at the end of last year and were so impressed by the wonderful hospitality that we hoped to visit again in a warmer season. When our family discussed taking a trip around this time in April, we all agreed that Kiichiyu would be the perfect choice, so we returned. With such great memories from our previous stay, we naturally looked forward to another wonderful night—and it exceeded our expectations, making for an even more comfortable stay than before. Our whole family was very satisfied. Although the weather the next day was unfortunately not ideal, it was more than made up for by the Onsen, meals, and other experiences that gave us plenty to talk about after returning home. We truly believe this was only possible thanks to the attentive service of all your staff, and we would like to express our sincere gratitude once again. We hope to stay with you again when we have another opportunity. Thank you very much.

    The three of us—my o...

    The three of us—my older sister, older brother, and I—stayed here together. We were able to relax and take things slowly. As the youngest sister, I have terminal cancer and have been given a limited prognosis, so being able to make a one-night stay focused only on spending time at the Hotel without overexerting myself meant a lot, and I would like to come again. The staff kindly joined in our conversations with such warmth, which made it a truly happy time for us. Thank you very much.

    A truly wonderful “best-ever” Accommodation you’ll want to keep secret!

    We stayed here to celebrate a birthday. After reading Reviews and checking the website, we thought it might be a good Accommodation—but from the Shuttle Service on arrival to the farewell after checkout, it was the best Accommodation experience of my life! Above all, every staff member was so warm and welcoming. I was amazed that everyone—from the bus driver and housekeeping staff to a team member we passed outside the Hotel at night—was cheerful and wonderful. To be honest, because the price was so reasonable, I wasn’t expecting much from the food… (sorry!), but everything was unbelievably delicious. The fish was incredibly fresh with no odor at all, the seasoning was gentle, and even the presentation and tableware were beautiful—it became an unforgettable time. Also, when I emailed two days in advance to request a birthday dessert plate, they responded right away—thank you so much. (It costs an additional 330 yen.) The person who looked after our table that day was also kind, and thanks to their detailed explanations—like recommended ways to enjoy each dish—we were able to fully enjoy our meal. Breakfast was just as exciting: easy-to-eat Western options plus an unexpected spiny lobster soup. And of course—it was delicious too. The baths were amazing as well. Our Room didn’t have an open-air bath, but there are three private baths available, so we didn’t have to wait long. The private baths are open-air; it was a little chilly outside, but the water temperature was perfect and warmed us through. The large public bath also has many different types of baths, and having a sauna is a great bonus. Since it’s quieter during breakfast hours, I highly recommend an early morning bath! The fish soup served in the post-bath lounge area (“ara-jiru”) was just the right portion size too—enjoying it while looking out at the scenery outside felt wonderfully refreshing in the morning. The free-flow lounge had many seating options, and the space itself was lovely. At other Accommodations we sometimes end up buying extra drinks at a shop—but here you can enjoy wine and sake for free at night as well; truly exceptional hospitality. In our spotless Room, opening the window let us hear the sound of waves—and you could see how close the shoreline is. This is honestly my first time wanting to give five stars across everything. In a good way, what you pay doesn’t match how much service you receive! (I want to recommend it because it’s such great value—but also want to keep it secret… haha.) It’s a bit far from Tokyo, but coming all this way to Izukyu-Shimoda was absolutely worth it. We will definitely be back again. Thank you so much to all of your staff for taking such great care of us!

    It was excellent.

    The open-air bath in the Room was great, and the open-air bath at the large public bath was also wonderful. At dinner, they prepared live spiny lobster sashimi—it was so lively it nearly jumped off the cart, and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. The grilled dancing abalone and the wagyu steak were both outstanding. I will definitely come back. This was my first stay, but even as a smoking Room it was very comfortable. The staff were also very courteous.

    You’ll definitely want to stay here again.

    I have stayed at Inatori-so several times, but this was my first stay at this Accommodation. The Room was wonderful, and the mattress firmness suited me well. The baths were excellent too: the indoor bath was spacious, and there were three open-air baths, all large enough and beyond complaint. The sashimi selection system at dinner was the same as at Inatori-so. Having a live abalone steamed for me increased my satisfaction even more. Overall, I was very satisfied. The disappointing part was the staff’s response at check-in and during dinner: they forgot what I asked for and made me repeat the same things over and over, and although I tried not to get irritated, I couldn’t help it. Even so, it was a good Accommodation that makes me want to visit again.

    It was excellent.

    I’ve been staying here each spring for the past few years. Every year, I look forward to the meals and the Onsen. It’s quiet and relaxing, but it can be hard to secure a Reservation. This time we stayed in a detached annex. It was a maisonette-style Room, and we also enjoyed the open-air bath in the Room. One of the best things here is the excellent ingredients—of course everything is delicious—and the exciting menu. Our meal was served by a student part-timer again this year, as last year; they were very composed and their explanations were perfect. There was a small mix-up during dinner this time, but it came from their thoughtful attention based on notes from a request we made when we stayed about 10 years ago, which made us happy. We had a wonderful holiday. We would definitely like to stay again.

    We are always very satisfied with the excellent hospitality.

    This was my second stay. Each time I bring friends from overseas, and they all say in unison, “The best.” We are completely satisfied with everything, from the thoughtful attention to detail to the amenities. Dinner is delicious every time, and I always end up eating too much. Also, at Kiiichiyu, all of the staff who assist guests are based in Japan, which always makes me feel at ease. This is an especially important point when bringing friends from overseas. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

    We had a great time.

    It was a wonderful Accommodation. They responded courteously to my inquiries in advance, which left a great impression. The Onsen was truly excellent. The large public bath has a spacious indoor bath and three types of open-air baths, and the private open-air bath can be used free of charge anytime if available, so I was able to enjoy the Onsen again and again. The fish soup I had in the post-bath lounge area in the morning was delicious. The Room we stayed in had its own open-air bath, and it was blissful to soak whenever I wanted while listening to the sound of the waves. It was a maisonette-style Room with sinks and toilets on both floors, which was very convenient. In the lounge, drinks as well as sweets and snacks were provided, and it was nice to be able to enjoy them for free. The meal we had at the dining area exclusively for annex guests was also very delicious—both the seafood and the meat were excellent. It was such a lovely Accommodation that I would recommend it to others.
