    Highly Satisfying Accommodation

    The room was spacious, and the bath where we could relax while looking out over Lake Akan was exceptional. Being able to check in from 2:00 PM also made for a very leisurely stay. I was happy with the generous amount of food, but if you eat the large ohagi before the meal, you can’t make it to the end—so you have to hold back on something, which is tough! I was so full that I couldn’t eat any of the birthday cake at all, so it would have been perfect if alternative ways to celebrate had been suggested. Still, we were extremely satisfied and will definitely be back.

    Everything—from the staff and guest rooms to the meals—was perfectly balanced and very comfortable. The staff were friendly without being intrusive, and we had a wonderful time. It would not be an exaggeration to say this was one of the best Hotels we have ever stayed at. Thank you very much.

    Everything is luxurious, with attentive service.

    I was first impressed by the spacious Room and its calm atmosphere. Since it was a Japanese-style Room, we had a Plan with in-room dining, but they kindly prepared a separate room so we could eat while seated on chairs, which made it much easier on our legs. We truly appreciated their thoughtful attention to detail. Each dish was wonderful, and we asked for wines to match the cuisine; each one had its own distinctive character, which made it a delight. We were also very happy there was a hot stone sauna. We had built up travel fatigue, so we were able to relax from the bottom of our hearts. The bath in the Room was also spacious and comfortable, and we ended up using it many times. From the doorman’s welcome upon arrival onward, every service was attentive and courteous. Choosing this Accommodation as the final stop of our 10-day trip around Hokkaido was absolutely the right decision.

    Eastern Hokkaido Trip

    From arrival to departure, the staff’s hospitality was truly outstanding, and we could feel the thoughtful care in every detail throughout our stay. We also deeply appreciated the warm consideration for our anniversary, which made it a memorable experience. The cuisine made excellent use of seasonal ingredients, and we enjoyed every dish. The curry served as a late-night snack was also delicious, allowing us to enjoy dining right to the end. The only disappointing point was the lounge service. We used it after arrival, but only coffee was available, which felt a bit lacking. This time we ordered drinks via room service; however, considering the Accommodation Fee for a suite room, we felt that having an additional service specifically for suite guests—separate from the lounge—would make the stay feel even more special. Among other Accommodations in a similar price range where we have stayed before, many offer well-equipped lounges or dedicated services and Facilities, so this was the one area that fell slightly short. Also, during dinner, guests at the neighboring table were speaking quite loudly, and we were unable to relax and enjoy our meal. We understand there may be situations where it is difficult for the Accommodation to intervene; however, depending on circumstances, a gentle word or consideration would help make guests’ time more comfortable. That said, what stood out most was the exceptional hospitality of your staff—we had a very pleasant time overall. We would love to visit again in another season.

    Celebration of an 88th Birthday

    We stayed here to celebrate my parents-in-law’s 88th birthday, and thanks to the manager’s thoughtful attention to every detail, we had a truly wonderful day. Both of them said they were able to relax so much, every dish was delicious, and it became a treasured memory—they were absolutely delighted. Next time, I’d like to invite my own parents.

    Wonderful

    This was my first time staying at this Hotel, and from the moment I walked in, I was truly impressed by the atmosphere—it felt completely different from any other Hotel I’ve stayed at. The service was excellent, the Room was spacious and calming, and I was surprised by how large the open-air bath was. Even though it was such a wonderful Room, I did notice some dust in a few places. I was able to enjoy my meal comfortably in the Room, and it was great that each dish was explained to me one by one. I was very satisfied with the food as well—I had never had such wonderful cuisine before. I would love to stay again.

    A birthday and retirement celebration trip for my partner

    This time, we chose this Accommodation on the final day of our 5-day trip to eastern Hokkaido to celebrate my husband’s birthday and his retirement, after asking AI for a recommendation. Since we won’t be able to splurge as much on a pension income, we decided to go all out and book the largest Room—and we were truly satisfied. It became a wonderful memory. We were completely satisfied with everything: the Facility, the hospitality, and the food. My husband especially loved the stereo and listened to it whenever we were in the Room. He’s very particular about sound quality, so that was perfect for him. I loved the massage chair. It was also our first time staying at an Accommodation with two toilets, which was really appreciated. We both love milk, so the local milk after a bath was amazing. We were able to relax so much—thank you very much. Done—we will definitely return. Also, during meals, one of the younger staff members who helped us was from Chiba Prefecture, and they spoke with us warmly and kindly—it really touched our hearts. It seems they were here for training. Even though they haven’t been in Hokkaido long yet, their explanations of each dish and everything else were excellent. Once your renovation is finished, we would love to visit your Accommodation in Chiba as well—by all means! In any case, this was an outstanding Accommodation in every way. We hope to visit again while we’re still healthy—thank you in advance for your continued kindness. We chose Lake Akan because I love marimo algae, and I’m truly glad we did—everything exceeded our expectations.

    The service is good, and the food is delicious. However, this Ryokan shows signs of aging.

    The quality of the kaiseki dinner and breakfast was excellent. The staff service was excellent. Perhaps a calm atmosphere is this Ryokan’s concept, but the lighting in the lobby and restaurant was too dim. I don’t think this lighting suits Japanese cuisine. Overall, the Facility shows signs of aging. Unfortunately, there was a urine smell in some areas.

    Overall, I’m satisfied.

    Everything was perfect. The only issue was that the drain in the sink area for brushing teeth and washing up drained poorly, so we removed it to use the sink. That was the only thing.

    I had been looking forward to staying at Tsuruga with my husband for the first time for the past six months. This was our second stay by Lake Akan, and with fewer Rooms, we could relax in peace without hearing much noise from other guests, enjoying the Onsen and the scenery at a calm, unhurried pace. The private dining Room was so spacious it felt almost too large for just two of us, and we were served at a relaxed pace. Our attendant thoughtfully recommended wines to pair with each course, allowing us to savor every dish—truly a luxurious time. The hot stone sauna in the large public bath was also very relaxing, and the milk after bathing was delicious. The bath in our Room was the largest we’ve ever had, and the water felt wonderfully smooth—we enjoyed it again and again. It was a wonderful Accommodation we’d love to visit again as a couple. Thank you very much.

    Great service and a great Room.

    I’ve always thought that when a Room gets larger, it often ends up with unused space, so a moderate size is enough. However, the Room I stayed in was spacious yet had no wasted space, and it was very comfortable. About 10 years ago I stayed in a Room that wasn’t on the lake side. Compared to then, you can feel some age, but it’s kept clean so there were no issues. I was happy that the women’s amenities were POLA B.A. The standard amenities at other Tsuruya Group Accommodations are nice too, but amenities selected by each Accommodation can be one of the small pleasures of staying. It was so comfortable that I didn’t even use the hot stone spa this time—I’d like to try it next time. I’ve already made my next Reservation and I’m looking forward to it.

    Snowy Scenery and Fireworks

    The snowy scenery from the Room was truly beautiful, and it was a deeply relaxing stay in a peaceful atmosphere. The fireworks viewed from the Room were also unforgettable, allowing us to enjoy a special moment. Combined with the unique beauty of the cold season, it became an unforgettable memory. The meals were absolutely delicious, and we were able to take our time enjoying carefully prepared dishes. In addition, seeing a long-tailed tit during breakfast was truly moving, and we couldn’t help but watch in awe. This is a wonderful Accommodation where you can feel the beauty of nature and enjoy luxurious time—an Accommodation we would love to visit again.

    I’m glad you told me.

    I heard that my wife’s friend stays here regularly and says it’s a great Accommodation. My wife had previously stayed at Akan Yuku no Sato Tsuruga rather than Hinanoza, and after returning she said, “I’d like to stay at Hinanoza too.” This time we stayed here, and I completely understood why. The staff’s attentiveness was wonderful, the food was truly delicious, and the Room we stayed in was excellent. We fully enjoyed the all-inclusive plan. We also had plenty of time to enjoy the Onsen Facility and the hot stone sauna. Seeing fireworks right in front of us in midwinter was very moving. I’d love to visit again in a different season to enjoy a different view, and I hope to stay here again then.

    I think this is the No. 1 Accommodation in Eastern Hokkaido!

    I made a Reservation because I wanted to see Lake Akan in winter! Since it was a weekday, it was quiet and I was able to relax and take my time. It was also wonderful to feel Ainu culture throughout the entrance and the property. Having both an in-Room bath and a large public bath was the deciding factor for choosing this place, and I was so happy that I could use the baths anytime except for the 30-minute nightly cleaning and the men’s/women’s switch. The meals were surprisingly luxurious, and both the portion size and flavor were outstanding—I couldn’t stop saying “Delicious!” (lol). I chose a Plan with all-you-can-drink alcohol, and I was truly impressed by how delicious the wine and sake pairings were that our attendant selected to match each dish (thank you so much!). Thank you as well for your thoughtful arrangement so we could enjoy the fireworks. Breakfast was just the right amount, and the assorted pickles were especially delicious. The view from our Room of frozen Lake Akan with the mountains beyond was breathtaking, but I definitely want to return again in spring through autumn. The black sesame and matcha ohagi we received as a check-in service were also unbelievably good—this became an unforgettable trip in every way.

    We visited to celebrate a birthday. Thank you for providing a wonderful experience with the Room, bath, and meals. Unfortunately, due to my health condition, I couldn't enjoy the bar or footbath fully. I look forward to making the most of it on our next visit. I truly appreciate the staff's hospitality!     It was very relaxing and enjoyable.

    I was captivated by the photos of the Tennoza Suite in a travel guide and decided to stay. The room was as wonderful as expected, and I thoroughly enjoyed the open-air bath. The interior, from the entrance to the lobby and hallways, was chic and tasteful. The bar at night had a great atmosphere, offering a relaxing view of trees through glass windows. The meals were delicious, with a wide variety of complimentary alcoholic beverages that I ended up indulging in too much. However, it was disappointing that despite arriving at the dining area at our reserved dinner time, we had to wait nearly 20 minutes. Additionally, there were no call bells in the dining area to summon staff when needed. Furthermore, during both dinner and breakfast, it was difficult to enjoy our meals peacefully due to loud voices from neighboring diners in another room. Would it be possible to request guests not to raise their voices?

    Everything was excellent.

    We stayed at the accommodation for our wedding anniversary trip. The warm welcome upon arrival, the welcome sweets during check-in, and the detailed guidance around the facility were all incredibly thoughtful and left us deeply impressed. Walking on the polished floors and tatami mats in tabi socks instead of slippers was also very comfortable. The meals were all delicious, with a wide variety of dishes that left us completely satisfied. We also enjoyed chatting with the staff during their explanations of each dish. We were moved once again by the surprise gift prepared for our wedding anniversary. Thanks to the all-inclusive service, we thoroughly enjoyed champagne and wine during meals, so we didn’t have a chance to visit the bar this time, but its atmosphere looked wonderful as well. We will definitely return in the future and look forward to visiting the bar then! Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful experience!

    It was disappointing not to have a restful sleep.

    The room and meals were great, but I was disturbed throughout the night by intermittent noise (possibly the motor sound from the public bath on the same floor). I had a delicious dinner with several types of alcohol and expected to sleep soundly, so it was especially disappointing. Traveling refreshed my spirit, delicious meals and baths helped me relax, and I hoped for a good night's sleep to recover from the day's fatigue. It felt like stumbling at the final touch of an enjoyable trip... I was looking forward to staying here because of its many positive reviews.

    A Luxurious Moment

    I had been interested in this accommodation by Lake Akan for a while, and I finally had the chance to stay for one night. As shown in the photos, the view was excellent, and I felt very relaxed soaking in the bath while looking out at Lake Akan. Since it was a public holiday, I was told there were no available seats at the dining area, so I was provided with a temporary private room on the same floor separated by partitions. I had been looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere of the dining area since making my reservation, so it was a bit disappointing not to be able to use it. Considering that I reserved a higher-grade room, perhaps some arrangement could have been made... The presentation and taste of the food were very satisfying. The milk from Yoro Ranch provided in the large communal bath area was incredibly delicious as well. However, when opening the cupboard to use glasses in my room, there was a thin layer of dust on its glass shelf which bothered me slightly. While it's understandable that many places are facing staff shortages these days and detailed cleaning might be challenging, perhaps daily cleaning routines could be reviewed more thoroughly.

    Everything was excellent, but the water facilities, such as the open-air bath in the Room, were disappointing.

    We recently stayed at your accommodation by Lake Akan as autumn began to set in. Due to a busy schedule leading up to the trip, we had only briefly looked at the accommodation details beforehand. From the moment we arrived, it was a series of delightful surprises. We were greeted warmly at the parking lot with kind words acknowledging our journey. The grandeur of the entrance and lobby, as well as the hospitality during check-in, provided an exceptional sense of relaxation. The room was spacious and beautifully arranged with amenities thoughtfully prepared beyond expectations. Even the contents of the refrigerator were impressive. The meals were delicious, and for guests who enjoy alcohol, everything seemed perfectly catered. Although meals weren’t served in-room, we dined in private rooms equipped with chairs and tables, which was very convenient. The large public bath offered a wonderful experience; on that day, women could enjoy an open-air bath in the morning. When I entered early in the morning after missing out on views of Lake Akan upon arrival due to darkness, I was amazed by its beauty—the vast lake surface adorned with clouds hovering gently above it created a breathtaking scene. While this is such a wonderful accommodation overall, there are some points for improvement: - The private hot spring bath in our room felt much hotter than 42°C—possibly closer to 45°C—and even as someone who enjoys hot baths, I couldn’t enter comfortably. Adjusting it proved difficult due to stiff faucets that made turning them challenging. - After finally managing to lower its temperature by adding water (which later caused temperatures to drop too much), controlling it remained tricky throughout. - Additionally troubling was how little water flowed from toilet handwashing taps; needing further washing at another sink became repetitive since drainage there wasn’t smooth either—making usage inconvenient overall. Unfortunately arriving late meant missing out on experiences like visiting bars or footbaths alongside nighttime snacks or strolls around nearby areas—but these give us reasons enough already wanting return visits someday soon! With autumn now fully approaching amidst vibrant foliage drawing more visitors likely keeping you busy ahead—we hope continued excellence remains hallmark service hallmark here always! Thankful again sincerely grateful stay shared memories cherished forever truly appreciated!

    I love this accommodation.

    The desserts from the welcome service are delicious, the room amenities are well-equipped, and it is a very comfortable accommodation. All-inclusive drinks, the clear and pure ice used at the bar, the surprisingly delicious milk after a bath, the beautiful flowers throughout the facility, drinks at the footbath, tasty late-night snacks—all these services are maintained with great effort, providing a sense of reassurance with their consistent quality. This time, they even prepared Ohagi separately from the welcome service. Although I am not usually a fan of Ohagi, this one had a refined taste, and I enjoyed it very much. They even checked if the Ohagi filling was red bean paste and showed great care and thoughtfulness throughout my stay. Among the many accommodations across the whole country, this is truly an exceptional one. I hope to visit again someday during the frost flower season.

    It was a comfortable accommodation.

    Quiet and very comfortable with excellent hospitality from the Hotel staff. The meals were delicious, but the portions were large; it would be nice to have a smaller course option. I loved the view and atmosphere from the bar at night. The snacks, such as the ohagi and the inari sushi for a late-night meal, were incredibly tasty.

    A very hospitable accommodation

    Be soothed by the beauty of the lake view from your room. Meals are served in private dining rooms, and the attentive service provided by the staff was truly impressive. They even folded a rose out of origami for us at the end. Despite the rain at night, we went to the Ainu Kotan Theater to watch traditional dances, and the accommodation kindly provided a round-trip shuttle service by car. We are very grateful.

    Tsuruga Resorts

    This was my first time staying at an accommodation by the Tsuruga Group, despite living in Hokkaido. The building itself is not very large, and the narrow, quiet alley leading to the entrance gave a modest impression reminiscent of Kyoto, which I liked. The entrance features a water-filled design underfoot that felt cool and serene. Inside, the lobby is spacious with an open ceiling and decorated with sculptures and ornaments unique to Hokkaido. The dark-toned furniture created a calming atmosphere, with abundant use of wood and stone throughout. Regarding the room, we stayed on the far left side of the third floor. Unfortunately, due to its location next to Shangri-La's wall facade, there was only a minimal view of the lake available. It would be easier to accept if there were price differences within rooms categorized as "Kaze no Ma," but it was unclear how pricing was determined. Additionally, as mentioned in other reviews about bedroom steps and low beds—we share similar thoughts. Around bedtime, we heard a loud thud from above near our bedroom area; it seemed someone might have tripped over those steps—something we also experienced ourselves—which could pose risks for elderly guests. Addressing these steps or switching to Simmons beds might enhance guest satisfaction. As for dining experiences: while some reviews expressed critical opinions about meals provided here—we personally enjoyed them thoroughly! Above all else during these challenging times marked by labor shortages worldwide—the staff’s thoughtful gestures & attentiveness deserve heartfelt appreciation!

    Stay for 3 nights in the Amanoza Suite at an elegant accommodation by Lake Akan.

    As part of the Tsuruga Group's "Za" series, this is the second property following last June's "Shikotsuko Tsuruga Bessou Ao no Za." "Hina no Za," which opened in 2004 on the shores of Lake Akan, where the Tsuruga Group originated, is a well-maintained accommodation with clean facilities that do not feel outdated. The level of customer service is exceptionally high across all areas, including dining venues for breakfast and dinner, the shop, and the front desk. The staff provides thoughtful care with just the right balance of attentiveness and distance. Valet parking ensures seamless car access without any inconvenience. Daily welcome sweets are varied and delicious; particularly noteworthy were the exceptional sweetened beans. The room layout offers excellent flow and makes efficient use of its spacious design. From your room, you can enjoy views of Lake Akan, including sightseeing boats departing or anglers at work. These same views can also be enjoyed from your private open-air bath in your room. The cypress wood bathtub is spacious enough for two adults to relax comfortably. The onsen water quality is outstanding and keeps you warm long after bathing. Indulge in 24-hour access to a luxurious private open-air bath overlooking Lake Akan at any time you desire—a truly special experience enhanced by a relaxing massage chair. While some reviews mention that neighboring hotels obstruct views from certain angles, I personally found it unproblematic as my attention naturally gravitated toward sights like sightseeing boat docks or Bokke along the lakeshore when enjoying views from either my living area or open-air bath within my room’s privacy-protected setting (the adjacent building has no windows facing this direction). Overall scenery remains captivatingly beautiful. Meals (Sofuzen) served during both breakfast and dinner feature an abundance of fresh local seasonal ingredients prepared exquisitely—truly delightful!
