    Age-related body odor

Because I have a disability in my right leg, I chose this Hotel again expecting a convenient stay, as it is close to the station and I previously found another Hotel in the same group near Tokyo Station’s Yaesu Exit very convenient. However, the pillow and the part of the duvet near the pillow had an unpleasant aging odor, so I used a bath towel as a pillow and slept on my side. This was my first time encountering a pillow with such an odor when making a Reservation through this site. It was disappointing because the Hotel staff were very helpful.

    Convenient Accommodation Near the Station

I used this hotel for a business trip. Whenever I go to Akita for work, I always stay here. It’s very convenient, close to the station. The Room is also clean. This was my first time using the Akita Dog Plan, and I was happy it came with Akita Dog goods. I think I’ll be staying here again.

A Clean Hotel Near Akita Station

With Akita Station almost directly connected, I left my luggage before noon and walked to the Prefectural Art Museum and Senshu Park before checking in. There was also a 7-Eleven and a Starbucks on the first floor. The Room was clean and quiet, so I could relax well. On the way back, I took the airport bus, and the bus stop was right in front, which was very convenient.

I was dissatisfied with the front desk service and the cleanliness.

I reserved two Rooms under one representative name. At check-in, two people who were clearly family were waiting right behind me. Everyone had the same last name, and I provided the names of the two guests. Usually, they hand over keys for both Rooms without being asked, but this male front desk staff member in his 30s gave me keys for only one Room. I was surprised by how inattentive he was. After 10 p.m., when I went to take a bath, there were several hairs on the bathroom floor. The Metropolitan near Tokyo Station was also full of mold, so maybe this is unavoidable at this price range. Breakfast is available until 10:30 a.m., but when I went after 9 a.m., many items had not been replenished. I asked for three items to be refilled, but it took so long that breakfast ended up taking more time than it should have. By 9:45 a.m., the head chef came out and noisily started clearing dishes one after another. It was loud, and with staff constantly moving around to clean up, dust was also kicked up into the air. As someone from Akita Prefecture myself, I think this every time: it’s embarrassing how bad the rice tastes here. Is it cooked poorly, or did it get cold?

Conveniently located next to the station.

Because it was raining, it was very convenient that the ticket gate was adjacent to the Hotel. The bathroom was separate, so I could relax and take my time. The Room was also spacious and nice.

    Elderly parents

I made this Reservation so my parents in their mid-70s could attend a memorial service. I had planned to drive them to Akita, but work came up, so they took the Shinkansen and stayed the night before. Travel discounts were applied automatically, and even though my parents did not make the Reservation themselves, they were able to check in without any issues. Thank you very much.

    We’re sorry to hear that.

My flight was canceled, so I had to stay here at short notice. As it was said to be the last available room, it was expensive at 29,450 yen, but I had no choice. It may have been my fault for not checking right away, but when I went to the washroom late at night to take a bath, I was shocked. The trash had been left there—apparently the previous guest’s toothbrush and other items were still there. If I had noticed as soon as I entered the room, I would have reported it, but since I was already undressed for bathing, I put up with it. The bathroom did have a washing area, which helped somewhat, but when I filled the tub, hair and other debris floated up. In the end, it felt like the room hadn’t been cleaned. I will not stay here again.

    Five stars again.

As last time, I had a very comfortable stay. However, one thing: last time I could wash and dry continuously without stopping, but this time the machines had been changed and the washer and dryer are separate. If you want to dry your laundry, you have to go to the laundry room after about 30 minutes of washing and transfer it to the dryer, which was inconvenient. It would be helpful if you could reinstall a few machines that allow nonstop washing through drying as before.

A convenient Hotel directly connected to the station

I stayed here to visit Oga Aquarium. The Hotel is directly connected to the station, with restaurants nearby, making it a very convenient location. I was a bit worried about what I would do if a wild bear showed up, but even arriving late at night, the area in front of the station was lively. The Room was generally clean. There was almost no step between the bathroom and the Room, so it felt safe and nearly flat throughout. The towels were also clean—I have a habit of smelling them before use... and they were fine.

Because everything is in one place, it’s very convenient. There are also many convenience stores and restaurants around the Hotel, which is very helpful.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

The Room design was lovely and very functional, and the train view kept us entertained the whole time. Akita local crafts were displayed both inside and outside, and we often stopped to admire them. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options; the kiritanpo, rice balls, and junsai were especially delicious. We also appreciated having three washer-dryers available even though it’s a city Hotel. We will definitely return.

I’d love to come back for breakfast.

The location is excellent, with easy access by train and very close to the airport limousine bus stop. If I had to point out one drawback, it’s a bit far if you want to go drinking in the downtown area (Kawabata). I originally made a Reservation without breakfast but added it later. The spacing between tables felt a little tight, so I wish there had been a bit more room. As for the food, I tried the made-to-order onigiri I’d been looking forward to based on Reviews, and it was delicious. There were several fillings, and while I wanted to try them all, there were also many other local dishes like kiritanpo and Inaniwa udon—unfortunately my stomach didn’t have enough capacity. I’d love to come back and try again.

    As expected from the Metropolitan!

I travel to many places, and even in Akita this Hotel truly lives up to the Metropolitan name—excellent service and spotless throughout. There is a Starbucks and a 7-Eleven right next to the first floor of the Hotel, and it’s only a 30-second walk from the station, so it’s incredibly convenient. The website also explains access from the station in detail, which was very helpful. I usually point out drawbacks in my Reviews, but I had none here. I didn’t try the meals, so I can’t comment on them.

We were very satisfied with this Hotel.

Directly connected to the station, with modern Rooms in a new building, a spacious bath with a washing area where you can stretch out your legs, and attentive front desk service—overall, a very satisfying Hotel. For dinner, I chose the solo Plan at one of the restaurants in Topico, and they properly secured a private room seat for me. From complimentary Akita local sake to jun-sai, sashimi, whole-dried hatahata fish, Honjo ham fry, kiritanpo hot pot, Hinai-jidori oyakodon, and Inaniwa udon—it was an all-star lineup of Akita specialties! It would be perfect if there were also a small Akita-style dessert at the end. Breakfast also featured local dishes such as handmade onigiri rice balls, jun-sai, and Inaniwa udon. I’d definitely like to stay again next time.

    The water pressure is…

The Room was very clean. However, the amenities and water pressure were disappointing. It had the weakest water pressure of any Hotel I’ve stayed at recently. The front desk staff’s service was not very good either. Daiwa provided everything, including skincare lotion, so I plan to stay at Daiwa next time.

    Peace of mind.

It was a two-night stay, and we were very satisfied overall. We added breakfast after arriving at the venue. The onigiri made fresh on the spot were the perfect size and delicious. However, perhaps because it was late, the selection felt a bit smaller than expected. The Room was thoroughly cleaned and spotless, and the locally crafted amenities were tasteful. The best point was having a separate bath and toilet. Hotel Metropolitan Akita is a place you can stay with peace of mind.

    Ideal for sightseeing in Akita.

I used this Hotel for sightseeing in Akita. When making the Reservation, I indicated that I would be using the parking lot, but when I arrived, the first parking lot was full. The location of the first parking lot is also hard to find. I’m not sure why they ask whether you will park at the time of Reservation. When I called the front desk on the spot, I was told to use the second parking lot. I’m not used to driving on snowy roads and was already tired, and when I asked over the phone where the second parking lot was, they just said it’s on their website. The second parking lot is a shared lot for the neighboring station and a shopping center, and both lots cost 1,000 yen per night. The second parking lot requires walking from the Hotel. It’s close, but it feels far for families. If you have a stroller or a lot of luggage, it’s better to park in the first parking lot early. Overall, I felt their parking guidance wasn’t very helpful. The Room was in the new building and was very clean and comfortable. The towels didn’t seem new—maybe old—and felt rough. I would have preferred softer towels. They provide one-piece style pajamas. Breakfast was on the 3rd floor of the main building with a good selection, and I was satisfied. It’s far from the new building. There is a 7-Eleven and Starbucks next door, so food isn’t an issue. The Hotel also stated that you can access the second parking lot from the 2nd floor, but both escalators and elevators were shut down so we couldn’t go up to the 2nd floor. In short, using the second parking lot was inconvenient. Since it’s right by the station, it should be fine if you’re using public transportation.

A comfortable, very clean, wonderful Room.

I stayed here on a business trip. They kindly upgraded me for free, and I was able to enjoy the spacious twin Room. I will stay here again when I visit Akita.

    New and offers excellent service.

I frequently stay in Akita for business trips, and this accommodation was new with excellent service. The cleaning staff in the morning also greeted me politely (even at traditional or luxury hotels, it's common to encounter unfriendly cleaning staff). Personally, I appreciated being able to adjust the air conditioning temperature in my room. One minor issue was that switching between the shower and faucet in the bathroom was a bit confusing.

An early check-in fee of 1,000 yen was charged.

I use this facility every two months. The direct access from the station and the cleanliness of the new building (North Wing) are very appealing to me. Due to my usual Shinkansen arrival time, I often request check-in around 2:30 PM. However, this time I was charged for early check-in for the first time. I suppose it’s part of the policy...

    Delicious breakfast

The Hotel is old but clean and very comfortable. While I often stayed at Castle Hotel in Akita, this time the breakfast was excellent. The rice balls made by Akita Obako while Donpan-bushi played were amazing. Local dishes such as Kiritanpo and Inaniwa Udon were also plentiful and enjoyable. I would love to stay here again.

    It was excellent.

Thank you for your hospitality and warm welcome. The room was clean, the bathtub was spacious, and there was a washing area, making it very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delightful, with freshly made rice balls and all the dishes were incredibly delicious. I would love to stay again.

    Next, here.

This is my 3rd or 4th time staying here. I came to visit my son in Akita. I love how close it is to the station and how delicious the breakfast is. This time, I could only choose a double room because I made the reservation at the last minute, but they kindly changed it to a twin room at check-in. I’m truly grateful—thank you so much! I’ll definitely use this place again next time.

We recommend the Annex, North Wing.

This was my second stay this year. For the past few years, I have been booking the North Wing, but this time I stayed for three nights on the Premium Floor of the Main Building. The room was clean and well-maintained, but its age was noticeable. The bathroom was small, with a traditional setup including a toilet and sink in one area, which felt inconvenient. Being sensitive to smells, I noticed an odor that bothered me. As a result, I would choose the North Wing again next time. The bathroom and toilet are separate there; although the room is smaller, it has modern facilities that make for a stress-free stay. Breakfast always offers a wide variety of options to enjoy. While I usually prefer Western-style meals, I found myself eating rice balls with pickles and miso soup every morning because they were so delicious during my three-day stay. However, it was disappointing that the coffee after breakfast was too strong for my taste. When asked about recommended hotels in Akita by friends or acquaintances, I always suggest Hotel Metropolitan Akita due to its convenient location right by the station building filled with restaurants and souvenir shops offering plenty of enjoyment. I look forward to staying here again in the future—thank you very much!

The Room is clean and excellent.

We stayed as a family of three. The location is excellent, right in front of the station, and the Room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was particularly impressive, being separate and generously sized, giving an overall sense of comfort. It was also convenient to walk to various restaurants, making our trip to Akita very enjoyable!

    Perfect for solo travelers.

Stayed in the annex accommodation. The bathroom had separate washing and bathtub areas. The spacious bathtub was perfect for relaxing (bath salts provided), and the semi-double bed allowed for a comfortable sleep. The accommodation was impeccably clean, with amenities and towels replenished daily, ensuring a pleasant stay. (Having makeup remover would have been even better.) The elevator required a card key for access, providing an added sense of security, especially for solo travelers. Breakfast was a buffet featuring Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. It was delightful to have onigiri made with Akita Komachi rice prepared with your choice of fillings. Local specialties like Akita miso soup and junsai were also available to enjoy regional flavors. Drinks included a wide variety such as juice, tea, and coffee. Luggage storage before check-in or after check-out was very helpful. Located right by the station rotary, it offers great convenience for transportation, shopping, and dining options nearby. I would love to stay here again when visiting Akita!
