    A calm and quiet accommodation with a wonderful onsen

    I stayed with my mother and husband, a total of three people. The room's bath was excellent! The quiet environment and the garden provided a relaxing atmosphere. Inside the accommodation, there were many Japanese and Western paintings displayed, which we enjoyed. The meals were delicious and very filling, especially the unique soup dish. However, one downside was that despite being such a peaceful accommodation, the noise from the old air conditioner in the room disturbed my mother's sleep. Overall, I think it is a wonderful ryokan.

    A Truly Relaxing Moment

    My wife and I stayed at "Bettei Oku no Kigi" for the first time. The room offered a serene world of silence, with only the sounds of insects and birds, apart from the living noises we made as guests. The bath was spacious enough for about three adults, offering a stunning view of Hakone's mountains and allowing us to fully enjoy the natural hot spring water flowing directly from its source. The meals were made with high-quality ingredients and meticulously prepared, perfectly portioned for us in our later years, reflecting the thoughtfulness of the chef. Every staff member was kind and attentive, showcasing excellent training as an accommodation. We felt as though we forgot about time itself and experienced pure bliss—at least that's what we like to think. Thank you very much!

    I usually stay at the main building, but this time, for the first (and maybe last?) time, I stayed two nights at the annex. The environment, cuisine, and attentive care from the staff were all exceptional, allowing me to enjoy a comfortable and luxurious holiday.

    The open-air bath is in a separate building.

    I stayed here for one night as I was looking for a nearby place with a cloudy Onsen. The staff were very friendly, with lovely smiles. I truly appreciated their extremely polite service. The meals were excellent in terms of portion, seasoning, and presentation. The cloudy Onsen had a slight haze to it. If you're expecting something like Nyuto Onsen, you might be disappointed. However, the quality of the spring itself was excellent and very relaxing. It was my mistake to go for the cheaper option this time. I am convinced that the high ratings are due to the detached rooms. The layout is quite unusual as the main bath (indoor) and outdoor bath are physically separated into different buildings. You have to wear a yukata and walk between them, which was a first-time experience for me... This setup is inconvenient. Additionally, there are only two washing stations at the outdoor bath area, so if other guests are present, you might have to wait in the changing room (luckily there were no overlaps during my visit). If you're staying here, I highly recommend choosing one of the detached rooms. For international guests seeking an old-fashioned Showa-era style accommodation experience, staying in the main building could also be an option.

    Elegant Stay

    I recently stayed for one night at this accommodation. I was pleasantly surprised by the valet parking service at the entrance, which completely changed my image of a Ryokan in Hakone. The check-in process was smooth, and the operation was excellent. The room and its facilities were more than sufficient. As we were traveling with a small child, having a mattress where the whole family could sleep together was incredibly convenient. The bath, with its cloudy Onsen water, truly gave the feeling of being in a hot spring, which was wonderful. The meals were visually appealing and delicious. The children's meal, in particular, was thoughtfully prepared with dishes kids love, and everything was genuinely tasty, allowing the whole family to enjoy the experience. One minor point was that the clearing of dishes during meals felt a bit rushed, but the staff's polite communication ensured it did not leave a negative impression. After the meal, we ordered a celebratory cake, and the staff kindly took a commemorative photo for us, even providing a printed copy. This was an exceptional service. Our child thoroughly enjoyed the stay, feeling relaxed and excited throughout. Normally, our child is not very outgoing with strangers, but they actively interacted with the staff member in charge of our room. Our entire family was very satisfied, and we would love to stay here again.

    We were very satisfied with the Onsen and cuisine.

    I stayed with three friends from university. The room was a Japanese-Western style and spacious, offering a clear view of Hakone's outer mountains and Mount Kintoki. The onsen was excellent. However, as the indoor bath and open-air bath are not connected, you need to change clothes once. The kaiseki cuisine was outstanding! You could feel the chef's passion for delivering delicious dishes. Everything was incredibly tasty and satisfying. Spending a relaxing time with this cuisine and onsen was the best experience. It felt like the essence of a Japanese onsen accommodation. I would love to visit again.

    A Ryokan Worth Revisiting

    We chose a historic Ryokan with an Onsen in Sengokuhara. While the Facility shows its age, it was impeccably clean and well-maintained. The meals were highly satisfying, with just the right portions—neither too little nor wasteful. The flavors were mild yet delicious, showcasing thoughtful preparation. The milky white Onsen was excellent. If anything, it would have been nice to access the outdoor bath directly from the indoor bath. The staff provided courteous service throughout our stay. We enjoyed a pleasant late summer vacation here!

    It was a relaxing experience.

    This was my first stay at this accommodation, and I am completely satisfied with everything. I often visit Sengokuhara as it is one of my favorite places, and I was very pleased with the food, service, and bath.     Unfortunately.

    I recently stayed with my mother. We chose this accommodation because the reviews mentioned delicious food, but the fried dishes were lukewarm, and all the meals seemed to have been served long after they were prepared. It was raining on our departure day. Since my elderly mother was with me, I inquired about a late check-out, but it was not allowed at all. Although they knew we were taking a bus back, they did not check the bus schedule for us. As a result of the delay, we got soaked waiting at the bus stop in the rain. On arrival day, it was also raining, but we were given towels and thought it was a nice hotel; however, this experience on departure left us very disappointed.

    Thank you for the wonderful experience. It was a fantastic accommodation where we could enjoy the unique hospitality of a Japanese Ryokan! Thanks to the many rooms with private baths, both the large public bath and open-air Onsen were never crowded, allowing us to relax and enjoy the gentle, milky-white hot spring water. The meals were absolutely delicious, and the roast beef was a masterpiece showcasing professional skill! The staff's thoughtful gestures, such as preparing tea multiple times during their visits for futon arrangements or in-room dining service, made our stay even more comfortable. Experiencing such exceptional hospitality created unforgettable memories for three generations of our family. Thank you very much!

    A traditional and charming Ryokan

    Upon arriving at the room, the hostess kindly served tea, which was a delightful and rare experience nowadays. Meals were enjoyed in the restaurant at calm table seating with a pleasant atmosphere, and they were exceptionally delicious. The portions were generous, and dishes were served in proper order with warm items kept warm, which was excellent. The open-air bath in the bathing area felt slightly aged but added to its charm. Considering its location in Sengokuhara, this accommodation offers excellent value for money.

    An Accommodation Full of Memories with Your Parents

    This is my parents' favorite accommodation. They always said it felt like coming back to the countryside. Both of them have now passed away, and this time, I visited with my daughter for the first time in 7 years. Although some age shows due to the passage of time, everything is thoroughly cleaned. It still feels so relaxing here! Fresh flowers are placed everywhere, there’s a large private bath in the room with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source, meals served in your room, and a dedicated attendant who takes care of you until the next day. The entire facility has tatami flooring, and I was soothed by the tea-scented incense burner in our room... It's perfect for a retreat. As for meals, breakfast was especially delicious!

    We stayed at the annex this time, and both the open-air bath in the main building and the room's bath had great views, providing a very pleasant onsen experience.     The meals are excellent!

    We stayed for the first time as a family of four. The Room was a Japanese-Western style, clean, and had just the right amount of space. The table in the Japanese-style area being a chair-height table was very convenient and much appreciated! My elderly mother with bad knees was also very pleased. What stood out most was the dining area. Through large windows, we could see greenery, flowers, and a waterfall—it was bright, spacious, and allowed us to enjoy our meal leisurely as a family! The food itself and its flavors were absolutely excellent! Both dinner and breakfast were highly satisfying. A slight downside was that there were no drink vending machines or many drink options available at the shop. Also, having the indoor bath separate from the open-air bath felt like a bit of an inconvenience. However, the open-air bath was incredibly relaxing! The water in the indoor bath felt quite hot though. If we have another opportunity, we would love to stay here again!

    A luxurious stay in a room with an open-air bath to celebrate a belated birthday. The room, with its charming additional space, was exactly as expected and truly wonderful. We enjoyed a relaxing time while gazing at the picturesque garden. On the second day, it rained, but the vibrant greenery and the rain flowing from the eaves created a beautiful and atmospheric scene. Both dinner and breakfast were served in our Room by attentive staff, allowing us to indulge in a truly luxurious experience. The meal portions were just right—an exquisite creative Japanese course for dinner and traditional Japanese cuisine for breakfast. The public bath was clean, and the open-air bath was exceptional. It offered not so much a view but rather an opportunity to immerse oneself in the beauty of fresh greenery. This stay became a very precious memory for us. Thank you so much!     We stayed here for a family trip. The staff at the Ryokan were very kind and left a great impression on us. This time, we stayed in the West Wing detached room, so we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner served in our room, which allowed us to relax while dining. We informed them about food allergies in advance, and they accommodated us perfectly for both meals, allowing us to eat with peace of mind. The flavors were exactly to our liking, and everything was delicious. Our room had an open-air bath attached, and it was absolutely amazing! Being able to bathe multiple times without worrying about time and enjoying Onsen water of the same quality as the main bath was incredibly satisfying. If I had to point out one downside, it would be that the main bath felt smaller than expected. Other than that, everything was perfect! We had a wonderful time here—thank you so much!

    In-room dining is excellent.

    It is rare nowadays to find accommodation where meals are served in the room and futons are laid out for you. While younger guests may prefer privacy, for older guests like us, this service is greatly appreciated. The amenities provided were sufficient and left no particular dissatisfaction. The quality of the onsen water was excellent, and if I had to mention one thing, having a sauna would make it perfect. This has become an accommodation I would love to visit again.

    Refresh Your Soul at a Long-Established Ryokan

    The sky was cloudy with a high chance of rain, but luckily it stayed dry. The garden is incredibly spacious and stunning. It was the perfect season for flowers, with cherry blossoms and azaleas in full bloom. From the room window, we enjoyed the beautiful view of blooming flowers accompanied by the soothing sounds of mejiro and uguisu birds. Staying in a separate villa allowed us to relax quietly and forget about daily life. The semi-open-air bath in our room had cherry blossom petals floating on the water—a truly unforgettable sight. The open-air Onsen at the main building was also very relaxing. My mother said it was the most wonderful place she has ever visited and was extremely delighted. The front desk, security, and staff were all very kind and made us feel welcome. The only disappointment was that there were no souvenirs worth purchasing—something I’ve never experienced before during a trip. Even if they are expensive, I hope you can offer unique health-conscious products that reflect this location’s charm.

    The Onsen was absolutely amazing.

    I visited on an unexpected snowy spring day. The male staff member who first assisted me was very polite and left a great impression. The female staff member who guided me to the room seemed very busy and handled everything at full speed, which made me feel a bit sorry, but she was still very kind and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable, and although it was an extremely cold day, the heating worked perfectly, so I didn’t feel cold at all inside. Both the Onsen in the room and the large public bath had water quality that suited my skin, making it one of the best Onsen experiences I’ve had recently. The meals were delicately seasoned, allowing me to enjoy every bite until the end. This time I stayed in a detached building, but accessing the large public bath or shop felt slightly inconvenient; it made me want to try staying in the main building next time. I would love to have a Multiple Night Stay on my next visit!

    Definitely worth a return visit

    The location is far from the station, and the lack of Shuttle Service was the only inconvenience. The website recommends taking a bus, but it runs only once an hour and was crowded with many foreign tourists carrying large luggage, making it impossible to board, which caused a significant delay in arrival. Other than that, everything else was satisfactory. Although it's quite expensive, it is well worth the price. I wish I had more time to stay another night.

    A wonderful accommodation.

    This was my second stay. The bath was absolutely amazing. The milky white hot spring water was just to my liking, leaving my skin smooth and soft. The meals were plentiful and every dish was delicious. The Room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Plenty of towels were provided, so there was nothing inconvenient at all. The staff member who attended to us responded kindly and thoroughly to all our questions and requests. Thank you for your hospitality! I look forward to staying here again next year.

    West Building

    We stayed for one night. Although the facility is not the latest, it is well-maintained, allowing us to fully enjoy the atmosphere of a traditional Onsen Ryokan. The private open-air bath was particularly exceptional, offering the best Onsen experience and an outdoor air bath while gazing at the mountains of Hakone. We traveled with an infant, and thanks to the attentive care of the staff, both my spouse and I are grateful. We look forward to visiting again when we have another opportunity.

    It was a wonderful property that I would like to stay at again.

    The Ryokan has a traditional feel to some of its Facilities, but the entire Property is clean and tranquil, so it didn't bother me at all. The Onsen's large communal bath and open-air bath are separate, but I was able to enjoy both without any crowding. Additionally, the meals were incredibly delicious, and they were very accommodating with my allergies that I informed them about in advance. This time, I didn't have the chance to stroll through the spacious garden, so I definitely want to return and enjoy it on my next visit.
