    About Children's Meals

    This was our third stay. We stayed for two nights this time, but we were disappointed that sausages were served with every meal for the children. If they were additive-free sausages, it would be fine, but regular sausages contain many additives. We have never given store-bought sausages to our children. We were also surprised to see bread being served, as we hardly let them eat bread either. We would have preferred a traditional Japanese meal instead. There were also not enough vegetables. While the facility and service were excellent, the meals left us disappointed.

    Nostalgic Accommodation

    The main building, registered as a tangible cultural property, exudes an air of elegance. The service reflects the excellence of traditional Japanese hospitality. Although it was just a one-night stay, it became an unforgettable experience.

    Everything is excellent.

    The hot spring was absolutely wonderful. The Ryokan had a charming atmosphere, and the food was delicious. I would love to visit again.

    I had always wanted ...

    I had always wanted to stay at an accommodation in Gero Onsen, so I made a reservation this time. The interior and rooms, full of charm, may not be the most convenient, but I was able to feel the history of the accommodation and have a valuable experience. The view from the room and the autumn leaves seen from the private open-air bath were magnificent. The facility is spacious, and I occasionally felt like I might get lost, but the provided map of the premises was very helpful. There are many stairs to reach the large public bath or footbath; it would be more convenient if there were comfortable work clothes in addition to yukata or baskets instead of disposable plastic bags for carrying towels and other necessities from your room to these areas. Thank you for kindly accommodating our request for a commemorative photo at your entrance on our departure day despite being busy!

    The building has a charming atmosphere, is well-maintained, and provided a very pleasant stay. The hot spring water was excellent, and exploring the Facility itself was enjoyable, making it possible to have a fulfilling time without even stepping outside. The meals were meticulously prepared, delicious, and served in just the right portions, further enhancing the experience. This comfortable Facility offers such a relaxing stay that I would love to visit every year. Thank you very much!

    The return visit was also very satisfying.

    I revisited this Ryokan with my sister because I had a wonderful stay last year. Last time, dinner was served in the room by an experienced staff member, which felt very traditional and left a strong impression. This time, we dined in a private dining room in a separate building. The chairs made it comfortable to eat, and the dining area was clean and pleasant, so it might have been even better than before. The meals were as delicious as expected, and we enjoyed some sake as well. Breakfast offered a variety of dishes on trays along with self-serve rice, miso soup, curry, bread, juice, and milk—better than a full buffet style. We stayed in the main building with rooms offering great views of the river. However, the entrance was slightly dimly lit and not equipped with auto-locks; unlocking the door each time required some effort (the key needed a bit of technique). As noted during our reservation process about sound carrying easily due to wooden construction: while I slept soundly through the night despite hearing children crying next door briefly—my sister did wake up from it! If noise is concerning for you perhaps consider avoiding rooms within this section altogether. There was slight dust smell coming out initially from heating equipment but after notifying staff during dinner they promptly cleaned filters & placed air purifier resolving issue entirely thereafter! Unfortunately one coffee server machine famous locally malfunctioned temporarily pre-dinner hours yet alternative options remained available meanwhile morning saw everything restored back operational again thankfully! One minor disappointment repeated since prior visit involved access restrictions towards Music Room (Moonlight 2nd floor) listed among official website’s photo-worthy spots where lights appeared off inside preventing exploration ahead bar opening times ideally allowing earlier viewing opportunities instead would enhance experience further overall satisfaction remains high thanks multi-lingual capable team members alongside attentive newer recruits alike delivering excellent hospitality throughout entire stay including exceptional hot spring facilities themselves impressively appreciated equally much by accompanying family member too making recommendation worthwhile indeed!

    It was a very nice place.

    Even though it is an old building, it has a lot of character, the Facility is well-cleaned and beautiful, and I used the bar, which was a very relaxing space. However, in the morning, I was woken up by quite a loud noise, probably from the upper floor. Both the Facility and the garden were very beautiful.

    The balance between tension and relaxation is good.

    I visited for the first time. Due to the rain, I checked in quite early. I was overwhelmed by the location, easily recognizable from the onsen town as "Ah, that's Yunoshima-kan." Although I knew the exterior from social media, seeing it in person was truly impressive. And once I stepped inside, I thought, "Oh?" The staff greeted me with smiles and friendly conversation. My earlier tension disappeared, and I was comforted by the atmosphere that allowed for casual chats. The staff member who showed me to my room was not overly formal and maintained a very pleasant distance. The facility was full of interesting features, and I couldn't stop taking pictures. The onsen water was also very pleasant. It's a property I would love to stay at again.

    A tranquil property surrounded by lush greenery

    After a 5-minute ride up the mountain from Gero Station on the free Shuttle Service, I was thrilled to see the charming Japanese Ryokan. About 70% of the guests were not part of group tours from abroad, and everyone was calmly checking in. What I found recommendable about this Ryokan was the hospitality and the cuisine. The bus driver, the reception staff, the guides, and all the employees we passed by were smiling and very pleasant. The cuisine featured tender Hida beef and very fresh sashimi, and I savored every bite up to the final dessert. The open-air bath had excellent water quality, and although it was a bit hot, it was very pleasant. However, for my elderly mother, the stairs to the bath and the rocks in the open-air bath were difficult to see, so she needed assistance to enter, requiring leg strength and eyesight. It would be appreciated if there were some lighting in the water. On the way back, we called a taxi first thing in the morning to go to Gassho Village, and the staff waved us off until the end. It was a very fulfilling trip. Thank you very much.
