    A misleading listing...

I stayed here again for the first time in 25 years. The Room with a jacuzzi was nice, and the starry sky was beautiful. However, I made the Reservation thinking it included Junglia Okinawa tickets, but it seems it only means you have the right to purchase tickets. Even during Obon, you can book them normally on the day. It feels like I lost money for the ticket portion. The listing is misleading. Also, both dinner at the on-site izakaya and breakfast were just so-so. The rice with raw egg was good, though... I won’t be coming back.

    Highly satisfied

As with last year, we stayed for two nights in July. This year, it was sunny every day for the first time, and we enjoyed the ocean obstacle course for two days in a row with our 8-year-old! We fell into the sea a lot, but because the water is so clear and beautiful, it felt much less scary. The seaside pool gets hot, but there was a nice breeze and it was comfortable. We could enjoy the pool from morning until night, the food was delicious, and we had a great three days at the Hotel! We also had shaved ice on the pool terrace in front of the restaurant—it was creative and delicious! Last year, getting around by cart was tough because of rain and wind, so this year we chose a Room near the front desk. But since it was sunny this time, next time I think we might choose a Room with a jacuzzi on the terrace.

I stayed with my daughter, and it was a truly luxurious time. The pool, the beach, the food, and the Facility were all clean, and 2 nights and 3 days didn’t feel like enough. Since almost everything in the Hotel costs extra, to save money I’d recommend eating outside and bringing your own float rings and similar items.

    A relaxing Facility

I stayed for five nights for golf. I took the bus to the hotel and a taxi back to the airport. They have a contracted taxi service, and I was able to get a ride for 21,000 yen. The Facility is old, but my room on the first floor of Azalea had a great view, it was close to the golf course, and I had a relaxing time. I tried all of the restaurants. My recommendations are Kamichaku’s premium nigiri sushi and couscous fu champuru. I’d like to stay again if I have the chance.

Although it rained, we were very satisfied with our stay.

We stayed here for the last two nights of our 4-night, 5-day Golden Week trip to Okinawa. The Orchid Room near the beach had a wonderful view, and the jacuzzi on the balcony was incredibly relaxing. Unfortunately, it rained throughout our stay and it was surprisingly cold for Okinawa, but the ocean obstacle course and snorkeling were operating as usual, so our family was able to enjoy marine sports for a full day. The Hotel pool and beach were almost private, so thanks to the bad weather we were able to enjoy a truly luxurious experience. Getting around by cart in heavy rain—such as going to the restaurant—left us soaked every time, but since we were traveling as a family with energetic teenage kids, it didn’t bother us much, and it became part of our fun memories from the trip. We also really appreciated that with the Plan including a rental car, we could pick up the car from the day we arrived at Naha Airport by paying only the difference in price. We look forward to staying again someday. Thank you very much for your hospitality during our stay.

Okinawa in the Rain with a Baby (0 Years Old)

I visit Okinawa every year for a golf trip, and this was my first stay at Kanucha Bay Hotel, which I’d always been curious about when playing golf. This time we were traveling with our 5-month-old baby, so… No golf this time. The rainy season was announced the day before we arrived, and sure enough it rained… But thankfully the last day was super sunny. At the Hotel, you get around by driving a cart yourselves. We chose a Room with a jacuzzi, so the Room was spacious, the terrace was large, and the view was great—absolutely perfect. Also, the roomy sofa bed in the Room (maybe?) was incredibly useful for our baby. Even with rain, we had more than enough to enjoy at the Hotel. Our baby spit up milk soon after we arrived, but having a coin laundry on-site really helped. We tried both Japanese breakfast and the buffet—both were stroller-friendly and we were very satisfied with the selection. We only dipped our feet in at the private beach and pool, but they had a great atmosphere. The grounds are huge, and it honestly felt like being at a resort in Guam or Southeast Asia! It was our first trip traveling with a baby and I was really anxious, but I’m truly glad we chose this Hotel. I came home yesterday imagining how fun it’ll be to play together at the pool or beach once our child is a bit bigger—and it already makes me want to come back soon… so I’m writing this Review now (lol).

    Once upon a time

I’ve been a loyal repeat guest for nearly 25 years, but I can clearly sense the cost-cutting in amenities and other areas. The base development in Henoko’s sea is also a troubling issue. Please restore the former sense of luxury and the one-of-a-kind, liberating brilliance you once had.

    Kids will be very satisfied.

Because we made a last-minute Reservation during the Golden Week holidays, the rate was quite high, but overall we were satisfied with our stay. Our child was delighted, and we felt the warm Okinawan hospitality from all the staff, which made our time very comfortable. At this price point, we would like to try staying in a more upscale Room as well, but since our child was very happy, we ultimately feel glad we chose to visit. Also, since total costs add up when including flights and a rental car, we felt that even if the rate were slightly higher, being able to choose a newer building and cleaner Facilities would make the experience even more satisfying.

A vast Hotel with an overwhelming sense of openness

This is a Resort Hotel on the east side of Okinawa’s main island. The Room was spacious and had a jacuzzi, almost like a private villa. I wanted an ocean view, so I stayed in the Orchid building. Being on the 4th floor, I could see the sea far into the distance and even hear the sound of the waves. On the other hand, it’s a bit far to walk to the breakfast (Western) venue and the souvenir shop. The Hotel grounds are vast, so we used carts to get to restaurants, the beach, and shops. Depending on where you’re going, cart rides take about 5–15 minutes, and one full loop of the grounds takes about 30–40 minutes. The carts are slow. On sunny days it’s relaxing and enjoyable to drive them, but in rain or strong winds it can be tough—on rainy days I recommend using the shuttle bus instead. There are two breakfast venues: Japanese-style breakfast has fewer items but feels calm and relaxed; Western-style breakfast offers a very wide selection and was lively with many families with children. The Hotel is about 30 years old, so you can feel some age in parts of the building and Room facilities, but it offers an openness and views that are hard to find elsewhere. Since we stayed only two nights this time, I feel we experienced only part of what this Hotel has to offer. Unlike Okinawa’s west coast with its glamorous tourist spots often featured on TV or in magazines, we were able to see a different side of Okinawa—such as “Chimudondon” bus stop, Keisaji Bay’s mangrove forest (hirugi), folds in the Kayo Formation strata (Kayō-sō), and a nearby izakaya called Abu. It’s also disappointing to think that if we had visited 10 years ago, we could have seen the original sea view without offshore structures.

Feedback from a guest who has stayed about twice a year for nearly 20 years.

We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days during our children’s spring break. As the title suggests, we stay at Kanucha every time we visit Okinawa, and we were really looking forward to this trip as well. From the moment you step onto the vast grounds, you immediately feel like you’re in a resort—it truly is a special place. The Room, jacuzzi, food, activities, and getting around by cart were all a big hit with our kids, and we were able to relax as a family. On the other hand, this time we also noticed signs of aging in the buildings. There were several small issues that added up: weaker air conditioning performance and less user-friendly controls, creaking floorboards (especially noticeable at night), a burnt-out balcony light bulb, and fewer amenities than before. If you could consider renovating the interiors in the future, I think it would make stays even more comfortable. Even so, the “overwhelming sense of space and openness” that you won’t find at other resorts in northern Okinawa is exactly what makes us want to come back again and again. If you’re considering where to stay in northern Okinawa, this is a resort I highly recommend adding to your list.

    Resort Hotel

Getting around the large grounds is by cart. Since there are some ups and downs, the cart is convenient. Of course, you can also walk between the buildings. It’s best to make a Reservation for the restaurant so you can dine with peace of mind. It wasn’t peak season when we visited, but it was still busy. Personally, I really enjoyed the Japanese breakfast, with many Okinawan specialties. The Room was spacious, and the canopy bed felt luxurious. It was also nice that the toilet, bath, and sink were separate. Since we had a Multiple Night Stay, it would have been great if housekeeping had replaced our drink cups as well. Other than that, the service was excellent and all staff were friendly—overall a wonderful stay. We went to Junglia on the second day, and it was easy to get there as well.

We had an amazing time as a family!

The staff’s hospitality, the Facilities, and getting around the vast grounds by cart—every part of the stay was enjoyable and felt like a true escape from everyday life. The highlight was the food! Every restaurant was delicious, with plenty of variety—I even gained 3 kg during my stay… it was that good. The Room was clean and spacious, and I enjoyed the jacuzzi every day. The golf course was also wonderful, and I’d love to play again once I improve a bit more.

Recommended Hotel for a Multiple Night Stay

My two friends and I stayed for a 2-night trip for the first time to visit the Hanshin Tigers’ Okinawa training camp and Junglia. It was the perfect time when the entire Hotel was illuminated, and it was fun riding around the spacious grounds in a cart at night. For breakfast, we chose the buffet on one day and Japanese cuisine on the other. Both were delicious, and we were very satisfied. We’d love to come back for a Multiple Night Stay during swimming season.

    Resorts really are the best.

Although we stayed during the quiet winter season, there were still enough guests to enjoy a resort-like atmosphere. There were plenty of staff on hand, and the service was excellent. Since it was winter, we couldn’t do any activities, but relaxing in the jacuzzi while looking out at the ocean was truly wonderful. The illuminations were also very beautiful! We stayed for one night, but it’s a Hotel that makes us want to stay two nights or more next time.

    Hmm?

How many times have I stayed here! In the past, there was no parking fee, and cold drinks were offered at check-in at the front desk. Considering the location is far from Naha, everyone thought charging for parking was unnecessary (my friends included). Moreover, we stay here to play golf, so charging a parking fee for guests seems questionable. In a few years, with the base relocation and noise issues, it might become challenging. Wouldn't it be better to revert the parking fee policy now to attract more guests? Knowing how great your hotel used to be makes me feel somewhat disappointed—am I alone in this? Just my two cents!

I stayed for five days and had a very relaxing trip. Before going, I saw some negative reviews and was a bit worried, but it turned out to be a very nice resort. Some of the facilities feel slightly dated, and there are insects, but that's typical in tropical areas and not an issue. The staff are young and their proactive approach to customer service, regardless of nationality or language barriers, was truly impressive. Even if there are minor shortcomings, I believe they will continue to improve.

A spacious and beautiful Resort Hotel.

A unique resort hotel with multiple accommodation buildings spread across a vast property, where guests can move around using golf carts. The rooms are spacious and equipped for comfort. All the restaurants serve delicious meals. There are three pools, but the beachside pool is highly recommended. Suitable for a wide range of guests, from families with small children to seniors.

    Overall High Satisfaction

The Facility may feel slightly dated, but the vastness of the property is impressive, and the Room is very clean and well-maintained. The view from the balcony is stunning, and the jacuzzi on the balcony was a favorite among the children. Both the beach and pool are well-maintained, allowing for safe enjoyment. During our stay, we only tried the Western buffet and BBQ, so we cannot comment on other restaurants. However, it would have been nice if the buffet menu changed daily.

    Perfect for a resort-like experience

The property is vast, requiring cart transportation, which can be a bit inconvenient, but it truly feels like a resort and was very enjoyable. There are plenty of activities available, so even during a Multiple Night Stay, you won't get bored. The buffet meals were the best, with unlimited Blue Seal ice cream and especially great desserts. If I may suggest, given the expansive grounds, it would be nice to have a large public bath somewhere on-site. Additionally, the cart parking at the North Wing is disorganized; marking parking spaces with lines like other parking areas would help improve this.

    Summer Trip to Okinawa

I chose this accommodation for its variety of activities. This time, I stayed at Kanucha on the east coast and ANA InterContinental on the west coast, and both had their unique charms. In terms of simple water clarity, I think the west coast wins, but if the weather is good, Kanucha Beach is incredibly beautiful too. At Kanucha, there were more fish in shallow areas and a fascinating variety of hermit crab shells! Especially for families with young children, Kanucha is highly recommended as the beach and pool are close by. Here are my impressions of Kanucha: - Booked a plan with a rental car & cart included. Highly recommended! You can complete check-in procedures at the car rental reception desk—very convenient. The rental car itself was standard. - Stayed in the North Wing. Even in rainy weather, it was stress-free to walk to the restaurant building or Garden Pool nearby. - Beach towels were freely available at all pools and beaches—super helpful! This is how resorts should be... - Breakfast was delicious with both Japanese and Western options available. It seems like they focus on local ingredients; there were many Okinawan-style dishes which made it enjoyable! However, there wasn’t much daily variation in menu items—4 consecutive days of buffet breakfast felt repetitive... We tried Japanese cuisine at Kamichaku one day—it was tasty but kids seemed to prefer buffets more... A bit more variety would be appreciated. - For dinner: we tried buffet dining, Kamichaku (Japanese restaurant), and Kusukusu (izakaya). If you’re traveling with kids, buffets are definitely recommended as they offer plenty of desserts at night too! The pork shabu-shabu at Kamichaku was excellent as well! Kusukusu had limited menu options despite being pricey—it wasn’t very kid-friendly; our child ended up eating cup noodles back in our room. - Activities included stargazing tours, snorkeling trips (which were especially fun!), coconut crab tours (though we didn’t see any crabs), sea athletics courses among others—all enjoyable experiences overall! During snorkeling sessions seeing clownfish swimming delighted my child immensely while guides during other tours went above-and-beyond ensuring memorable moments such fishing opportunities etc., enhancing satisfaction levels significantly! -Shops offered alcohol snacks souvenirs instant noodles etc., though availability lacked bread/onigiri items desired. Thank you so much for everything!!

The bathroom in the accommodation room was renovated and comfortable.

Stayed in Building N for 4 days, and the bathroom facilities, including the bathtub and showerhead, were renovated, making the stay very pleasant. Additionally, the staff at the front desk and restaurant were cheerful and accommodating, ensuring a comfortable experience. I would love to visit again.

    Wonderful Okinawa Time

This Hotel was one my husband had always wanted to stay at, and it was also a celebratory trip for us. Although it is indeed far from the airport, perhaps because of this distance, the guests were calm and composed (there were many families as well), and there was no disruption to our special trip. Transportation within the premises was by cart, but the dining area was right in front of us, offering great views of both the entire Hotel and the beautiful ocean from our Room. The jacuzzi on the spacious balcony was absolutely fantastic. The Room itself had been well-renovated, especially around water facilities; both the bathroom and toilet were clean and comfortable to use. While neither the pool nor beach seemed ideal for adults looking for a relaxing time, they appeared suitable for families (though I felt that parts of the pool might be too deep for children). There wasn’t much around the Hotel; we went to Matayoshi Coffee nearby for coffee and curry lunch. Dinner and breakfast at the Hotel were cleanly presented and delicious as well. Check-out could be done from our Room by leaving our card key inside after moving luggage via cart to parking; however, we were told to return the cart key to reception afterward. It would be more convenient if there were a collection box near parking instead. Overall though, it’s such a quiet and wonderful Hotel that we’ll definitely visit again! Thank you very much!

    6th Accommodation Stay

This was our 6th stay at Kanucha Bay Hotel & Villas, where my daughter also held her wedding. Unfortunately, due to the typhoon, the weather wasn't great, which made sightseeing disappointing. However, we had a comfortable stay at the hotel and were satisfied with our trip. We always look forward to enjoying the jacuzzi in Orchid during our visits, but unfortunately, we couldn't use it even once this time. For dinner, we enjoyed Okinawan cuisine and a buffet within the premises; both were very delicious. During this 6th visit, there was one concern that caught my attention. While I understand that wear and tear over time is inevitable, when draining water after using the bath, it backflowed and flooded into the washing area completely. This caused slipperiness in the washing area which could pose a risk of slipping. I believe regular checks on plumbing would be beneficial. Other than that issue, all staff members had wonderful smiles and our entire family was very satisfied with their service. We look forward to staying again next year!

    Returning after several years

Thank you for your hospitality. I had a pleasant stay during my 3-night visit. It was unfortunate that the strong winds prevented me from getting close to the sea. Since I came all the way to Okinawa, it would have been nice if guests could take a stroll along the beach at their own responsibility. Although other beaches were recommended, having life jackets available for rent would have been helpful (as I cannot swim without one). This was my first visit in several years, and I appreciated the relaxing atmosphere full of resort vibes that remained unchanged. For dining, perhaps enhancing options with restaurants where guests can enjoy views of the ocean might make it even more enjoyable for adults. The BBQ was absolutely delicious!

The property has a resort-like atmosphere, the Room was spacious, the breakfast was delicious, and we were able to enjoy a very relaxing 5-day stay. For those who want to take it easy within the resort, having a cart is convenient. Although there are trolleys running, having your own cart allows you to move freely at your own pace and makes traveling around enjoyable—it was definitely worth renting one. We did try the trolley once (on 6/29 after 9:30 AM), but unfortunately, the older driver was unfriendly. Even when we said "Thank you!" upon getting off, he ignored us... This was the only disappointing part of our trip. Since it's within a resort, I believe driving should involve more than just operating the vehicle.
