    The bath is excellent.

    The staff are kind and helpful. The Onsen is wonderful—I’d love to visit again. The shop has a great selection, and the prices are reasonable. The yogurt ice cream in the lobby is very refreshing and delicious. The Room is spacious and comfortable, and the futon was so cozy that I stayed lying down until check-out. The only downside was that the crab and grilled blackthroat seaperch lacked sweetness.

    Snowy Tsukioka Onsen

    We were completely satisfied with everything—the Onsen, the meals, the Room, and the entire Accommodation. The complimentary drinks and snacks were also excellent, and we were able to relax both body and mind and enjoy a truly wonderful time. Thank you very much to all the staff. We would definitely like to visit again. This is a truly lovely Accommodation that will stay in our hearts.

    Retirement Celebration Trip

    This trip was to celebrate my husband’s retirement at the end of the year. Our dinner was originally arranged in a Room with a sunken kotatsu-style table, but when you noticed that my husband has some difficulty with his legs, you kindly changed it to table seating. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration. The meal was delicious, and we finished everything—we were completely full. The only disappointment was that there was only one face towel per person and we had to take it to the large public bath, so it was unfortunate that we also had to use the same towel at the sink in our Room.

    It was great.

    It was my first visit in a while, and once again, this long-established inn was truly wonderful. Luxurious floral arrangements were displayed throughout the property, which was soothing in itself. I was also happy to see beautiful flowers on each table during the meal. The food portions were generous, and the drink selection was extensive—we were both delighted. Thank you very much for accommodating a surprise for my husband’s birthday. I don’t think there is anywhere that can match the quality of the hot spring water here.

    It was an excellent Ryokan.

    This year we traveled to many places—Beppu Onsen, Ise, Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Nagasaki, Osaka, and Okinawa—but this Accommodation was No. 1. Three key differences compared with other Ryokan: (1) exceptionally high service standards from the staff (everyone was kind; the men wore matching three-piece suits and the women wore kimono), (2) dinner was served in a private room (our family of five enjoyed a spacious private room, which made it feel even more luxurious), and (3) the proprietress greeted guests at the entrance (I believe she was the proprietress...). These three points were especially outstanding.

    It was very good.

    My first trip to Niigata. I’m truly glad I chose Senkei. Everyone was kind. In particular, the person in charge of our meals on the second day even wrote us a note and came to see us off at the end, which became a heartwarming memory. The open-air bath had a strong sulfur smell, and it felt overwhelming at first, but it left my skin silky smooth and was very relaxing. I’d love to visit again.

    The meals are too large.

    I stayed for two nights and three days. Dinner was far too large in portion size, the meat was greasy, and I would like them to serve smaller portions with better quality. Breakfast included mochi, but it wasn’t tasty at all even in ozoni; overall it was underwhelming and felt outdated. The Onsen was excellent and higher quality than at other Accommodations. It seemed good for my health—my shoulder stiffness improved. Among all the Accommodations I’ve stayed at, this Onsen was the best.

    This is my fourth time.

    It’s been several years since my first stay at Senkei, and this was my fourth visit. I’ve stayed at well-known Onsen Ryokan before, but this place is truly outstanding. I tend to get bored easily, and there are many Accommodations where I feel like a third visit wouldn’t happen—but I never get tired of Senkei. I reserve a different Room each time, and every one has been wonderful—the charm of the Japanese-style rooms as well as the comfort of the bedrooms. For meals, I choose the basic Plan, and it’s delicious every time. The baths are full of atmosphere, and the quality of the hot spring water is excellent. Everyone—from those who escort you to your Room to the staff serving dinner—offers exceptional hospitality. Even though it takes 2.5 hours by expressway, I’ll definitely come again. After all that praise, there’s just one thing I noticed: the children’s meals. They seem luxurious and tasty every time, but they felt a little lacking in variety or freshness from visit to visit. I’m also curious about Kaho and Koshinosato, but for me right now, atmospheric Senkei is still number one!

    We were very satisfied with our stay.

    I stayed from December 5 to 6. The open-air bath had excellent water quality, and even with my allergies, my skin felt better—I was very satisfied. It was also great that there was a sauna. We also used a small banquet room for a late-night meal, and the male staff member in charge of dinner service provided outstanding hospitality and thoughtful care. Breakfast was buffet-style with a mochi-pounding performance, and everything was delicious. This is an Accommodation I would like to visit at least once a year. Thank you very much to all the staff.

    The Hotel was far too large for me and didn’t suit my preferences. In particular, the dinner venue was a spacious hall rather than a private room. I was disappointed because it used to be a private tatami room. Since it was crowded during the holiday period, I had no choice but to accept it.

    After taking the shuttle bus from Niigata Station to Tsukioka Onsen, the hotel's shuttle service was waiting at the bus stop, ensuring a smooth arrival. The staff greeted us with warm smiles upon arrival, and after check-in, we enjoyed complimentary drinks and snacks in the lobby while waiting for our room to be ready. The accommodation is spacious with many delightful features such as art pieces, a garden, koi fish, and a pleasant aroma of incense throughout. The room itself was also spacious with a comfortable private bath and ample space in the washroom and dressing area. The large public baths operate on a rotation system allowing guests to enjoy two different areas; both the bathing facilities and dressing rooms were expansive and comfortable. Meals were exceptional—dinner was served in a private room for a relaxing experience, while breakfast featured an enjoyable buffet with various Japanese and Western dishes along with mochi-making demonstrations. It’s easy to see why there were so many guests even on weekdays. Above all else, every staff member had an excellent demeanor that enhanced our stay. With its wonderful onsen, delicious meals, comfortable accommodations, and welcoming atmosphere—we would love to visit again!

    It was somewhat disappointing compared to my expectations. The meal was not very satisfying, and the main dish being pork shabu-shabu was a letdown. Since it was during a holiday, there were many guests, making it less relaxing.

    Highly Satisfied

    It was a truly satisfying stay from start to finish. Especially at checkout, the hostess personally greeted each guest at the front desk, which made me feel how much they genuinely value their guests. The bath had a pleasant sulfur aroma, and I loved the quality of the hot spring water. The meals were incredibly luxurious and never felt repetitive even during a multiple night stay. The breakfast buffet was also of high quality and very enjoyable. It was a Ryokan that makes you want to visit again. The only point for improvement would be if the men's and women's baths could switch between morning and afternoon, as it would make a multiple night stay even more enjoyable.

    An accommodation that makes you want to visit again

    The accommodation was filled with thoughtful touches in every aspect! I was especially impressed by the flowers within the facility, beautifully arranged even in unexpected places, which brought a sense of calm and relaxation. There were many young staff members, all of whom greeted us with warm smiles, making the experience very pleasant. Additionally, I accidentally left something behind in the room and requested it to be delivered to my home. The management team responded promptly, carefully packed the item, and even ensured proper handling instructions for the delivery service. I was truly impressed by their attention to detail. Thanks to this wonderful experience, it became a truly memorable trip. I will definitely visit again!

    My first visit to Tsukioka Onsen was based on reviews, and I’m so glad I chose this hotel. From the male staff who kindly carried my luggage before entering the entrance, to the smooth check-in process at the front desk, the exceptionally delicious dinner, and the male staff who kindly assisted with sightseeing advice—every moment was filled with excellent service. The female staff also helped with taking photos and carrying heavy luggage to my car. Every aspect of their service was impeccable. The dinner was absolutely delicious, leaving me completely satisfied. For breakfast, the freshly made mochi was my favorite. The clean and spacious room had two sinks for added convenience. Everything needed for enjoying the onsen—towels, facial cleansers, shampoos—was fully provided, allowing me to indulge in a luxurious experience here as well. Among all accommodations available, I believe this is truly a top-class hotel!

    Family Trip

    We visited as a family of three. The luxury of the Facility, the hospitality, and even the transportation to and from the pool were all so exceptional that we felt humbled by the experience. There were minor issues during dinner, such as a dirty spoon and missing barbecue sauce, but our child was delighted, and it turned out to be an enjoyable trip overall. Thank you very much!

    The staff who guided us to the room mentioned, "Free drinks are available from 8 AM tomorrow," so I asked, "What about now?" and received a reluctant response of, "There's still 30 minutes left." No explanation about the facilities during the elevator and long hallway walk; just a simple "Here it is" when we arrived at the room. When my mother, over 80 years old, mistook slippers for room use ones, she was met with a cold stare and a faint smirk at her confusion. As we entered the room, our luggage was left in the hallway while they closed the door. When I went to retrieve it saying it's important luggage, they looked puzzled as if unaware of what I meant. There was no explanation about how to comfortably use amenities like living area arrangements or locations of tea sets, air conditioning controls, or lighting. The staff stood in the living area and simply said: "The key is behind the TV." After repeatedly asking where exactly it was while searching around blindly near an inconspicuous window spot where eventually found—then sternly reminded: “Make sure you return both keys upon checkout.” Among all accommodations (Ryokan/Hotels) we've stayed before—the guidance provided here ranks lowest; lacking even basic hospitality from guiding personnel! If initial impressions matter greatly but neglected entirely—it reflects poorly on their company values overall... Hoping my elderly mother could enjoy happy moments led me comparing various accommodations before booking one above minimum rank category offered by Sengen—but deeply disappointed despite beautiful furnishings & Onsen experience itself being remarkable—we won’t return again!

    A Relaxing and Rejuvenating Accommodation

    Stayed at this accommodation with my son the night before a family memorial service. I had stayed several times at its sister accommodation, Kaho-san, but this was my first time here. There is a spacious parking lot across from the accommodation, making it convenient to park and retrieve your car at your own pace. At the entrance rotary, many staff members were present to promptly assist with carrying our luggage and warmly welcomed us—so much so that I felt humbled by their hospitality. They coordinated seamlessly with the front desk via intercom, ensuring a very smooth check-in process. The hotel interior is spacious and stunningly beautiful, with meticulous attention to detail evident everywhere you go. The room was extremely comfortable, offering a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The onsen was incredibly soothing; as someone dealing with foot issues, I thoroughly enjoyed it to my heart's content—it was impeccably clean as well. The meals were both visually appealing and delicious; I truly enjoyed every bite. The hospitality of all staff members was outstanding throughout our stay. Breakfast featured an abundance of local specialties—all exceptionally tasty! The freshly made mochi was so good that I had several servings. The ozoni soup perfectly captured the nostalgic flavor of Shibata-style ozoni. At checkout, we received handwritten letters from the dinner staff—a thoughtful gesture that left us feeling cared for until the very end. I am deeply moved and grateful for such an exceptional experience—thank you for everything!

    Everything is excellent!

    The service, cleanliness, Room, and meals were all excellent. Both children and adults were entertained throughout the stay. Highlights included Yasuda Yogurt ice cream in the lobby, flower arrangements and paintings as decorations, a festival corner, late-night ramen snacks, unlimited towel use in the bath area, a shampoo bar, ReFa showerheads and hairdryers—there's no end to the list of thoughtful touches. Even the spare toilet paper in every restroom was wrapped beautifully in traditional Japanese fabric, adding to the sense of cleanliness and comfort. Receiving a handwritten message from the staff at checkout was truly heartwarming. We had an amazing birthday trip. Thank you very much!

    I was about to leave completely satisfied, but...

    During check-out, I accidentally caught my right thumb in the door of the in-room safe while retrieving valuables, causing a deep cut and significant bleeding. At the front desk, I explained the situation while settling my bill and requested a bandage for treatment. The two staff members at the front desk handed me two bandages without any words of concern or acknowledgment. It felt as though they were simply addressing a routine request to cover an injury from elsewhere. I had been completely satisfied with every aspect of my stay and was looking forward to returning in the future, but this incident left me feeling slightly disheartened. A simple "Are you okay?" would have made all the difference and allowed me to leave on a positive note. What could have been a perfect experience fell just short...

    A memorable and special Onsen accommodation visited with my parents

    After seven years, I stayed at Sennkei again. This accommodation holds many cherished memories as I visited it several times with my late parents, and I can never forget those moments. Memories of spending joyful times with my family of six came flooding back. The onsen was as pleasant as ever, and I truly felt it was worth coming here again. I heard the news that this accommodation was selected among Japan's onsen accommodations, and I completely agree with the choice. In the new room, I had a massage that relieved my fatigue. As for the meals, the beef stew at breakfast was delicious. I would love to stay here again!

    I stayed during the Obon holiday. The room with a private open-air Onsen was amazing. Tsukioka Onsen truly has excellent water quality. The meals were fantastic, but the portions were large, and I couldn't finish them—my apologies. I plan to visit again!
