    The breakfast is excellent, but the facilities are slightly outdated.

    The breakfast is excellent. While Nara has fewer major local specialties that appeal to everyone, the menu offers a wide variety of dishes to experience the flavors of Nara. On the other hand, the overall age of the Facility cannot be overlooked, and particularly, the water facilities in guest rooms feel somewhat inconsistent with the standards of a Nikko brand.

    I had high expectations for breakfast, but...

    I chose this hotel because I wanted to enjoy a breakfast menu unique to Nara. The dishes had a gentle flavor, allowing me to savor the local ingredients. However, I was disappointed as there were fewer items than what I saw on the reservation site beforehand. The room was far from the elevator, which felt inconvenient. Overall, there were many aspects that fell short compared to the photos, and it did not meet my expectations.

    Thank you for your kind support.

    We were upgraded to a larger Room than planned, allowing us to relax comfortably. However, there were some issues such as black mold on the back of the washbasins in the public bath, a broken shower that was difficult to use, and hair stuck on the upper wall of the bathroom in our Room. That said, the meals were incredibly delicious, and the staff provided courteous service.

    Accommodation

    I was surprised to find a hotel near the station with a large public bath. Room availability could be checked online. The bath was refreshing after walking around and sweating. The breakfast also featured plenty of local ingredients from Nara. I would like to stay here again next time.

    It was relaxing.

    Many hotels prioritize international travelers over domestic ones, but this Hotel makes a visible effort to treat every guest with care and respect, regardless of nationality. The building shows some age, but the warm hospitality and attentive service made me feel at ease. The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of delicious options, and I look forward to staying here again.

    Stayed at the accommodation for the first time without attending a banquet.

    I had previously used this accommodation frequently for banquets, but this was my first time staying overnight. In conclusion, I was impressed by the kind and courteous service of the front desk staff and housekeeping team, the welcome drink service, and the cleanliness of the room. Despite being an older facility, they are doing an excellent job maintaining it. I would love to stay here again if I have another opportunity. Thank you very much!

    I would like to use it again.

    A clean and conveniently located Hotel near the station. The front desk staff were very friendly. The public bath is small, so it might be better to visit during less crowded times. The ice cream bars provided at the bath entrance are a delightful treat after bathing. Above all, the breakfast buffet was the highlight! Each dish is served on small plates, making it easy to pick and showing consideration for guests. The variety was abundant, and everything was truly delicious! It was a highly satisfying morning meal! You can also purchase the adorable "Kumabushikun" at the front desk.

    It was comfortable, and the food was delicious.

    Many of the staff were very friendly. I also enjoyed making my own acai bowl at the dinner buffet (it was a Hawaii-themed fair), and the steak was tender. Breakfast was great as well, with Nara specialties such as tea porridge, persimmon leaf sushi, and Miwa somen noodles. Some parts of the Facility felt a bit dated, but overall it was comfortable, and I’d like to stay here again when I visit Nara.

    Reliable Hotel

    The hotel, directly connected to the station, was large and impressive. This was my first stay, and despite its 20-year history reflected in the interior design, it was well-maintained and clean throughout. The exclusive welcome lounge for guests offers juice and alcohol from 2 PM, which can also be taken back to your room. On a hot day, I appreciated the service of pre-cooling the room before arrival. The twin room was spacious and comfortable. However, the public bath was extremely crowded with insufficient lockers in the changing area and all washing stations occupied. While there are information boards on each floor and near the bath entrance, it would be helpful if this could also be checked from rooms or if staff were present to assist. Additionally, some foreign guests attempted to enter the bath without washing their bodies first; more visible reminders about washing before entering might be necessary.

    A convenient Hotel.

    This was my second stay. I used it for sightseeing along the JR line. Familiar with the area, I enjoyed the "Nara Breakfast" in the morning, which was delightful and delicious, making my stay mostly comfortable. However, I was bothered by a "drainage sound?" coming from somewhere. While I usually don't mind minor noises, that "roaring sound" was quite unpleasant. That's all.

    Hotel with a great location and excellent service

    The staff were very friendly, efficient, and had wonderful smiles, making the stay pleasant. The parking lot located in the basement of the Hotel was extremely convenient. The Room was functional and the air conditioning worked perfectly, which made for a very satisfying experience. If I may add a suggestion, it would be great if pillow height could be chosen and if disposable slippers were provided. For dinner, we enjoyed the Minazuki Kaiseki at Yoshino within the Hotel. The restaurant had a spacious and comfortable interior with excellent service. Starting with an aperitif and ending with dessert, there were 10 dishes in total. Every dish—such as bluefin tuna with egg yolk soy sauce, smoked pike conger with white asparagus, deep-fried Yamato eggplant in broth—was delicate and absolutely delicious.

    A historic Hotel in Nara

    Stayed for 2 nights on a business trip. I usually stay 60-70 nights annually for business and travel. - Location: Very close to JR Nara Station. Since taxis are scarce in Nara, I used the GO app to call one, but pickups near the station were not possible, so I had to walk a bit further to get on. - Room: The room felt outdated as it seems many years have passed since the last renovation. There were few power outlets, poor toilet water flow, and low water pressure in the shower due to a water-saving feature, which made it unsatisfying. - Facility: The lobby is located on the 3rd floor and spans quite a large area; however, with the front desk and guest elevators at opposite ends of the floor, it felt far apart. The lobby was crowded with group guests which might have added to this inconvenience. Multiple restaurants are available within the facility. - Service: There was an evening free-flow service offering unlimited Japanese sake and soft drinks—an enjoyable touch! - Breakfast: Based on a "Nara breakfast" concept featuring dishes related to Nara—a very nice aspect! While not particularly stylish in presentation, there was a decent variety of menu options including live-prepared egg dishes. - Satisfaction: For some reason (possibly due to an event in Nara), hotel availability was extremely limited with significantly higher prices than usual during my stay here—not just at this hotel but across others as well. Normally my satisfaction level would be higher; however, considering its outdated aspects combined with high pricing this time around, my overall satisfaction was lower than usual for this visit.

    Recently, JAL group offers excellent breakfast.

    Directly connected to the station, offering excellent transportation convenience. Breakfast features a wide variety of local ingredients and regional dishes, making it an enjoyable experience. However, the Room's bathroom had a lingering smell of damp towels. It would be appreciated if more attention could be given to maintaining it despite its age.

    Cost-effective Hotel.

    This was my first stay. Since I usually use an overnight bus when visiting Nara, I appreciated being able to leave my luggage at the hotel early in the morning and start exploring right away. There was a great weekday plan that included dinner and breakfast, and while I didn't have high expectations considering the price, dinner turned out to be delicious with a variety of dishes, leaving me very satisfied. The popular breakfast was quite crowded, seemingly used by all guests, but I was impressed by how attentively it was replenished. Additionally, the lounge available for all guests offered drink services including alcoholic beverages—a perfect treat for a tired body after enduring heat and fatigue. The self-service lockers for luggage storage were also convenient; it made retrieving my belongings smooth even when returning at the last minute. Overall, I felt that customer-focused service could be seen throughout the accommodation. While it's undeniable that the building and room facilities are somewhat dated, they seemed to have taken feedback from low reviews seriously as everything was clean and comfortable to use. The only issue worth mentioning is that there were relatively few hairdryers in the powder space of the large public bath area—something many guests seemed dissatisfied with—so perhaps this could be reconsidered for improvement.

    Delicious breakfast

    The breakfast served in small bowls was delightful. The smoothies were very delicious, and I had three servings. There was also the persimmon leaf sushi I wanted to try. I’m not a big fan of Nara pickles. The Room was average. The large public bath was spacious and enjoyable. There were candies available after the bath, but as an ice cream lover, I found it a bit lacking.

    The bathroom in the guest room and the public bath are unsanitary.

    This time, I am compelled to post due to the extremely disappointing experience. It was my first stay at the Nikko Hotel in Nara, and while I trusted the Nikko Hotel brand, there were many regrettable issues. The wallpaper near the sink in the guest room was peeling and left unrepaired. The bathroom with a washing area had significant mold, and during use, black debris fell down. The next morning, after waiting for cleaning to finish, I entered the public bath first thing in the morning only to find hair clogging the drain covers in the washing area with no signs of cleaning. Trying to recover my mood by soaking in the bath while looking out of the window revealed black mold covering 15–20 cm along its lower edge. I specifically chose a hotel with a bathroom featuring a washing area and a public bath to relieve fatigue from sightseeing but ended up feeling even more exhausted instead. I have stayed repeatedly at Nikko Hotels in Hokkaido, Tokyo, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Fukuoka, and Kumamoto before this visit. Even older rooms were always well-maintained through daily cleaning and upkeep; such an experience as this has never occurred before now. It seems that neither post-cleaning inspections nor proper maintenance are being conducted here—making it difficult for me to feel comfortable staying again. I sincerely hope you will ensure guest rooms align with manuals befitting of your Nikko brand standards moving forward.

    Highly Recommended Accommodation with Excellent Hospitality

    I frequently visit Nara. I've stayed at traditional accommodations and some of the newer, more expensive accommodations near Nara Park, but Hotel Nikko Nara, where I stayed for the first time this time, was my favorite. Although it is an older hotel with slightly dated facilities, the level of service and dining is outstanding. Considering the price and convenient location, I think this will be my go-to accommodation in Nara from now on. The breakfast buffet called "Nara's Morning Meal" was incredibly delicious. It featured unique local dishes such as Kofukuji kasujiru (sake lees soup), shojin-jiru (vegetarian soup), soy milk hot pot, tea porridge, Miwa somen noodles, and persimmon leaf sushi. Additionally, there were options for rice like tea-flavored rice or brown rice (which seemed to change daily) served in a traditional ohitsu container along with high-quality side dishes. I also enjoyed dinner at this buffet restaurant called Serena during Golden Week when they offered a special menu that was luxurious and satisfying despite the holiday pricing. The room we stayed in was a Junior Suite—the second-largest type—and provided ample space for two people with very comfortable beds that ensured a pleasant stay. For my future trips to Nara, I will definitely choose Hotel Nikko Nara again!

    Delicious breakfast

    The breakfast was impressive with its variety and taste. The scrambled eggs were the best I've ever had. I enjoyed them so much that I had seconds without adding any seasoning, which was a first for me. It was a bit disappointing that the bath was only available from 7:00 AM, as an earlier opening time would have allowed for a morning soak. Overall, it was a wonderful trip. Thank you very much!

    Well-equipped amenities. En-suite toilet and shower room.

    It would be nice to have items like a shower cap. The toilet and shower room are small; it would be better if they were a bit more spacious. The toilet seat is too close to the wall, and more space would be appreciated. The breakfast had a wide variety and was very delicious. I would definitely like to stay again.

    Enjoy Nara sightseeing without worrying about your luggage.

    The self-lockers available on the day of check-in and after check-out are very convenient, allowing you to explore Nara without worrying about your luggage. The service is polite, and the bath after sightseeing is refreshing. Breakfast is a buffet, and while it gets crowded early in the morning, the staff provides excellent service. There’s no worry about food running out, and used plates are cleared away efficiently for a pleasant dining experience. The Japanese-style breakfast dishes are particularly delicious; however, this year the taste of kasujiru seemed slightly different (maybe it’s just me?). I’ve been staying here every year for several years now and look forward to coming back next year!

    Covered in black mold...

    Is it the price of a cheap plan? We booked two single rooms for a multiple night stay as a couple and requested quiet rooms. However, the room seemed unused for some time. The unit bath had black mold on stickers, the sink, and grout around the bathtub. When I removed the cap of the hairdryer, it was full of white dust, so I decided not to use it. The shower leaked water from its side. After using it for one day, I looked inside the kettle in the morning to fill water and found rings of black mold that could be scrubbed off by hand. When I went to exchange it at reception before 6 AM, they handed me a large family-sized electric kettle saying they had no other options available at that time. They also offered to introduce me to a hospital if my health was affected. Since carrying such a heavy kettle was impractical, I declined. We used Nara as our base for traveling far distances and lined up early in the morning for breakfast on our first day. Although we were seated in Harmony Club which was nice, staff quickly cleared plates right after we finished eating as if rushing us out—this made us feel uneasy. On our second day when we ate breakfast later than usual timing this did not happen; however there were differences in dishes served depending on timing. At checkout time regarding apologies over moldy kettles staff mentioned covering parking fees but clarified only until now—not extending 24 hours further—and despite leaving promptly upon exiting underground payment machines still charged fees fully while apologizing awkwardly leaving impression akin throwing sand backward feet metaphorically speaking instead better avoiding false promises altogether causing unnecessary frustration overall experience marred slightly though tried refocusing positive aspects journey ahead ultimately learning valuable lessons firsthand unique circumstances encountered unexpectedly

    We enjoyed a highly satisfying meal.

    I stayed with a plan that included breakfast and dinner. Dinner was Japanese cuisine, with elaborate dishes that were too voluminous for women to finish. The Nara breakfast lived up to its reputation in quality. The Western-style bread and fruits were also plentiful, making it very satisfying.

    You can try various Japanese sake in the lounge, absolutely perfect. Since you can take it back to your Room, you can enjoy it even after time is up. However, there was a strange smell in the Room's bath. I would like to take a bath before breakfast, so please reconsider the time settings.

    It's right next to the station! I was surprised that the room key was not a card but an old-fashioned turn-type key. I thought it was retro. Anyway, the interior is so spacious that moving around was quite a task. There was a welcome drink, and I was surprised but very pleased to find out that I could take drinks back to the room! There were also local sake and wine, which were delicious and satisfying! However, if drinks can be taken back to the room, it would be nice to have a slightly larger cup. It was far to the room, and I almost spilled it on the way... There was a woman constantly looking at her phone in the women's bath, which was unpleasant, so I think it would be better to post a ban on phone use in the large public bath.

    Flexible response

    They were flexible in accommodating an increase in the number of guests from 3 to 4. Thank you very much. Although it is a municipal parking lot, there were no issues with using the parking facilities. Dinner was casual and enjoyable. The breakfast menu was abundant and satisfying.
