Thank you for your kind assistance with the difficult parking in the heat. We thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen. The meals were delicious, especially the Rokko beef.

    Improving the Living Environment

Given the size of the Facility, I understand it may be difficult to manage, but it feels like things are not being kept up. 1) Screening off unused equipment. 2) Air conditioning in the common areas in particular—please don’t let it be hot in a Ryokan/Hotel. These are my main concerns.

    Accommodation with Delicious Meals

This was my second stay. Last time I chose the South Wing with the buffet, so this time I chose the North Wing with restaurant dining. As for the Room, I didn’t feel there was much difference in age between the South Wing and the North Wing, but the North Wing was more convenient for accessing the large public bath and dining venue. The restaurant was new and clean, and the food was excellent. Since I don’t usually eat sweets after a meal, I felt a dessert buffet might be wasteful, but I also don’t like in-room dining—after much deliberation, I chose restaurant dining. In addition to the dessert buffet, there was also a salad bar and fruit (such as kiwi and green apples), which left me very satisfied. The breakfast buffet was also delicious. It’s an Onsen Accommodation with wonderful cuisine, so I would love to stay again.

We stayed here to celebrate my mother’s 60th birthday. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay! Thank you for the warm hospitality and attentive service! The Room I had wanted to stay in for so long was very clean and spacious, and I’m truly glad we chose it—we had a genuinely happy time. The Onsen was never crowded, and there was also a sauna, so we could relax at our own pace—it was wonderful! My mother was absolutely delighted, and it became a memorable trip. This is a Ryokan I definitely want to visit again. Thank you so much!!

    It was a wonderful R...

It was a wonderful Ryokan. It is a large and complex building, but once we were shown to our Room, we completely fell in love with it—the spaciousness, the view from the window, and the size and atmosphere of the open-air bath. The private open-air bath in the Room was, in my opinion, more impressive than any other indoor one I have experienced at other Ryokan. Even small details—such as the washing area stool—were thoughtfully considered. The safe deposit box was also placed at just the right height, which made it easy for us to use as older guests who are not very flexible. However, when we tried to use it, we discovered it was malfunctioning and had to ask the front desk to repair it; that seems like a missed pre-check. Nothing can be perfect, so I am not dissatisfied—but please continue striving for even greater perfection. We also loved the meals. They generously used high-quality local ingredients, and we enjoyed everything—not only the taste but also the variety, number of dishes, and tableware. Thanks to clear explanations and excellent timing from everyone serving us (including our room attendant), there was nothing to complain about. In particular, having one whole spiny lobster each served both simmered and as sashimi left a strong impression, as did two thick cuts of Rokko wagyu filet and three cuts of loin. The order of courses also seemed very well planned. I initially thought the vinegared first bonito could have been served a bit earlier, but having it after the grilled dish felt refreshing and worked well. I grew up hearing Mr. Kidataro’s commercials on TV/radio back in the day, so this brought back fond memories. Since they are gentle and heartwarming commercials, I think it is a great idea that they have been preserved in your garden along with a stone monument. Various systems throughout the property seem very well designed. The white koi were also memorable. At check-in I was disappointed because the directions from reception on how to get to our Room were slightly hard to understand; however, our room attendant followed up very well. The Shuttle Service driver was also polite and drove safely—excellent service overall. Thank you very much.

    Healing Meals

On our way back from visiting our family grave, we enjoyed the Onsen and a delicious meal together as a family. We were able to relax in the Onsen, and the food was so delicious it practically melted in our mouths. Our sons, now working adults, were delighted with smiles like children. The staff’s thoughtful, unobtrusive hospitality made the meal even more enjoyable.

It was spacious and very relaxing!

I visited on a day trip from Kyoto. The facilities and baths were spacious, and I was able to relax. If possible, I would appreciate a space to stretch out after the bath, such as a tatami Room or reclining chairs. It would also be helpful if the meal entry time could be extended until around 1:30. I would be even happier if the restaurant seating included semi-private booths.

    Everything is excellent.

I stayed on the top floor of the North Wing, and the view from the Room was amazing. The food, Onsen, and staff service were all excellent. It was an Accommodation that made me want to stay again. However, it felt quite far from the lobby.

Thank you very much for your hospitality. We were worried because of the heavy rain the day before, but on the day it was neither too hot nor too cold—perfect, pleasant weather for soaking in the Kin-sen hot spring—so we were able to relax at our own pace. The meals were delicious, and we felt comfortable in the Room as well. We enjoyed a relaxing time as a family. We hope to visit again. Thank you very much.

    As a commercial jingle

When we thought about visiting Arima Onsen, what came to mind was the “Arima Hyōe…” song we’d heard as children. As a couple in our 70s, we chose it without hesitation. It’s a large, traditional Onsen Ryokan, and even though there were many guests, we were able to relax at a leisurely pace. Living in Yokohama, we’ve often visited Hakone, Izu, and other hot spring areas up north, but this was our first time experiencing Kinsen. The water left our skin silky smooth with very little odor—truly wonderful. After returning home, Arima was featured on NHK’s Asaichi program, and the geiko who served us tea was also dancing on the show. We were happy to take photos together casually and to have her explain how to explore the town. From that experience all the way through the matcha tea the next morning, we thoroughly enjoyed Koyokaku. Thank you very much.

For the first time in 35 years

This time, I stayed with my parents. We were very satisfied with the service, the baths, and the meals. My parents especially loved the massage chair in the Room, and I felt glad we chose this place. It was my first stay at Koyokaku in about 35 years, which brought back fond memories and made for great conversation. If I have the chance, I would love to stay again.

    Relaxing Onsen Getaway

My spouse and I traveled using the Hankyu Railway Arima–Rokko Sightseeing 2-Day Pass, and it was a great value trip. The Accommodation was not very crowded, we did not notice any large groups of foreign guests, and the foreign staff provided decent service. Meals were served in a private room, so we could relax without worrying about others, and it was more than sufficient.

Arima Onsen: A Relaxing Onsen Getaway

We stayed with family. It was a much larger Hotel than expected, so we were surprised at first. There were many group guests, and we sometimes ran into large parties, but the building is spacious so it wasn’t too bothersome. We enjoyed three different baths. Each one was large enough that it never felt crowded, and we could relax and enjoy them fully. The large public bath, toilets, and our Room were all very clean and well maintained. Although it’s a large Facility, the cleaning and service felt thorough. Dinner was a teppanyaki course with generous portions, and the meat was delicious. There was also hot pot, finishing with rice—very filling overall. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options; even though we went a bit late, there was still plenty available and we were satisfied. Although it’s a buffet style meal, the tables are in private rooms so you can take your time. I had assumed there would be both gold and silver hot springs here, but this Accommodation only has the gold spring. Still, the water quality was very good.

    More satisfying than last year.

We stayed at this Accommodation during the same season for two consecutive years. Both the meals and service had improved. It reminded us of what makes a Ryokan special. We are considering plans to return next year as well. We also think it offers the best views in Arima.

The location was excellent, and we were able to relax and take our time with the Premium Plan.

We had previously visited Arima Onsen as a couple, and for the first time in over ten years, we stayed at Arima Onsen Hyoe Koyokaku as a family of four at our son’s request. Based on Reviews, we chose a Plan that included access to the “Premium Lounge,” where we could truly relax. It was absolutely the right choice! After the bath, we enjoyed perfectly sized servings of tea and beer to quench our thirst, while the kids had juice and snacks. The lounge was quiet and comfortable, allowing us to unwind at ease. Dinner was excellent—the charcoal-grilled steak main course was especially delicious—and breakfast offered so many options that we couldn’t finish everything. We were very satisfied. As it is a large Ryokan, I suppose some crowding in the lobby at checkout is unavoidable. However, we were very pleased with the shop’s selection and felt it was convenient to have everything available within the Ryokan. All of the staff provided courteous service, which made our stay very pleasant. Thank you very much.

“Next time, we’ll stay at Hyoe Koyokaku again.”

We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay to celebrate our daughter’s 20th birthday while she attends university in Kobe. Thank you very much to all the staff for your wonderful support. Our family was very satisfied. The Room was great, the bath was great, and the food was great—we were extremely satisfied with everything. Thank you again, and we would love to stay here again.

I’d love to stay here again.

The facilities were clean and spacious. The bath area was kept spotless at all times by the staff, with no hair on the floor, and it felt very hygienic. It was also nice that we didn’t need to bring towels from the Room. Since I don’t eat much, I chose a buffet Plan where I could pick small portions of what I liked. The ingredients were fresh, and the grilled meat was tender and delicious. In the morning there can be a line for coffee, so it would be great to have one more coffee machine. The Room was clean as well. The Shuttle Service to and from the station was prompt with no waiting, and the driver was kind. The hot spring water was excellent, and I would definitely like to visit again.

As expected of Koyokaku, the service from the international staff was excellent.

We are a couple in our late 60s. Since we live in Tokyo, we hadn’t had the chance to visit Arima Onsen, known as one of Japan’s top hot spring destinations in the west, but we finally made it. We walked from Arima Onsen Station to Hyoe Koyokaku, and the uphill road was a bit tough. Although this is a long-established Ryokan, the interior was very clean and had a wonderful atmosphere. We stayed in a Room on the top floor of the West Wing—spacious and spotless. Right after check-in, we enjoyed the Onsen baths: Gin-no-Yu indoors and Kin-no-Yu in the open-air bath. Kin-no-Yu is salty! Dinner offered an abundant variety from both mountain and sea, and we were very satisfied. At breakfast the next morning, what stood out was how perfectly cooked—and delicious—the rice was. No wonder people say, “To Arima Hyoe’s Koyokaku!”

    We were very satisfied.

I made a Reservation for the West Wing. The Room was spacious, and the large windows offered a panoramic view of the Arima Onsen town, so I was able to truly relax. Thoughtful touches were everywhere—flowers were displayed, and when we returned after dinner, cold water had been prepared for us to drink. Every dish, from the steak to the dessert, was delicious, and the bread at breakfast was also excellent. The baths were thoroughly cleaned by the staff and were spotless and very comfortable. Whenever we needed help—such as when leaving our luggage—every staff member who assisted us was pleasant and kind. It was a trip with my daughter, and we had a wonderful time. When I visit Arima again, I would like to stay at Koyokaku again, and I would recommend it to friends as well. Thank you very much for making it such a great trip.

    Arima Onsen in Winter

I used the day-use plan with lunch included. I arrived in the morning and explored around the station until check-in at 11:30. Although it was cold, it was sunny and comfortable for walking. After check-in, I took a short break in the lounge with a drink, then later had a sukiyaki lunch at a restaurant about a one-minute walk from the main building. The food was delicious, but partway through the meal the gas ran out on the stove, and there was an issue where flames briefly flared up during replacement. They ended up replacing the entire portable stove, so we had to pause our meal for a while mid-way, which was a bit disappointing. After lunch, I went to the Onsen in the main building that I had been looking forward to. It started snowing just as I got into the bath, and being able to enjoy an open-air bath while watching snowfall was amazing! Both bathing areas (you can use two) offer both Kin-sen and Gin-sen waters, and the outdoor setting was great—I’m really glad I chose to visit. Amenities and hair dryers were properly provided; if I had to be picky, makeup remover would have made it perfect. That said, both the bathing area and changing room were very well cleaned and extremely comfortable. Thank you for helping me have such a wonderful day off.

It was an extraordinary experience that makes you want to visit again.

It was my first time at Arima Onsen. The cold weather made the two days feel even warmer. The hospitality in the room and the snowy outdoor onsen were especially amazing. We enjoyed our meals in the room, and the staff who assisted us was truly wonderful—so much so that we would love to request them again next time. This accommodation was incredibly kind to families with children. Thank you very much!

    Delicious meals!

The meals were incredibly delicious, and the service was exceptionally attentive, leaving us very satisfied. They even took photos for us and brought a blanket when it got chilly, showing great thoughtfulness. This Hotel offers a level of care that is completely different from the typical large hotels.

I used the day-trip Plan with a bento box included. The staff's service was excellent, and I was very satisfied with the Onsen. The bento box had just the right amount for lunch. It would be nice to have massage chairs or similar facilities available after coming out of the Onsen.

    As expected of Arima Onsen!

This was a senior trip with my elderly parents. When we called from Arima Onsen Station, the shuttle service arrived promptly, which was very helpful. Although the map made it seem like a short distance, the steep uphill climb was much more challenging than expected and would have been impossible for seniors. We chose to stay at Hyoe Koyokaku, a renowned traditional ryokan. The scale of the property exceeded our expectations—it featured an expansive lobby with a grand chandelier and multiple interconnected buildings that made navigating inside quite surprising! We got lost several times due to confusing elevator and escalator connections but enjoyed exploring the vast premises. The onsen experience was remarkable—this is truly Arima Onsen! The richness of the "Kinsen" (golden hot spring) water amazed us. While I’ve experienced brown-colored onsen before, this level of intensity was unprecedented. We visited all three baths: Ichinoyu, Ninoyu, and Sannoyu; none were overly crowded, which added to our enjoyment. Kinsen stood out as exceptional; however, some Ginsen (silver hot spring) baths had noticeable chlorine smells. For meals, we opted for a buffet featuring Kobe beef steamed in bamboo steamers along with various other delicious dishes. Highlights included wagyu steak, sashimi, clam soup (hamaguri), and matsutake mushroom rice. Our room was a quiet corner room with great views where we slept soundly through the night in comfort. Check-out went smoothly and quickly but felt somewhat impersonal without any farewell gestures from staff—we were simply directed to take an escalator down on our own way out. The shuttle back to the station seemed crowded due to group travelers waiting ahead of us; realizing it might take time for our turn came up next led us instead walking downhill toward Arima Onsen Station ourselves instead . It would be better if there were more staff available during check-out hours . Overall though ,we’d love returning again someday soon ! Thank you so much !

    50th Wedding Anniversary

My first visit to Arima Onsen was something I had been looking forward to. The room was spacious and clean, with a stunning view of the autumn leaves from the window. The Onsen experience included the famous Kinsen and Ginsen, as well as a private open-air bath, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Although I was initially concerned that the Onsen might be crowded due to the large number of rooms at Koyo-kaku, it turned out fine because the facilities were spacious. The food was absolutely delicious, especially breakfast—it was the best I've ever had during my many Onsen trips. The staff members who attended to our room, assisted us at reception, and provided shuttle service to the ropeway were all kind and helpful. Additionally, they took a commemorative photo for us on our special occasion and sent it later—this thoughtful gesture made me very happy. Thank you so much! I would love to visit again!

    Shuttle Service Driver's Hospitality

Thank you for the wonderful experience. What left a lasting impression during my stay at Koyo-kaku was the Shuttle Service driver. Their polite language and attentiveness made the trip very pleasant. In the bath area, cleaning was done continuously, and it was great to see young staff actively working, creating a bright atmosphere overall. However, it was unfortunate to witness some foreign guests displaying rude behavior and speaking loudly throughout the facility. I understand this poses a challenging issue for management. Thank you again for providing such an amazing Onsen experience, and I would like to extend my gratitude once more to the driver.
