    The view was amazing!

I stayed in a lake-view Room in the main building, and we were lucky with the weather—the view was extraordinary and felt truly out of the ordinary. It was also great to have a table and chairs on the balcony. The bathroom area felt a bit dated and not very user-friendly, but the view from the balcony more than made up for it. The Room was spacious enough, with a comfortable sofa and bed, making it a very relaxing space. Most of the staff provided pleasant, top-class hospitality, but it was disappointing to hear some younger staff chatting loudly about non-work matters while walking down the hallway. For both breakfast and dinner we chose the buffet in the annex building, which had a different feel from the spacious, classic atmosphere of the main building. Breakfast was similar to a typical Hotel breakfast, but dinner was quite heavily seasoned with limited variety and fell slightly short of expectations—so next time I stay, I plan to have dinner in the main building instead. Overall, I was very satisfied. The Hotel itself is beautifully made with great attention to detail; as described as “a work of art standing by the lakeside,” its architectural design is truly impressive. The location right in front of Lake Ashi is also excellent. The complimentary Shuttle Service for guests from Odawara Station was very helpful. When I visit Hakone again, I will definitely stay here again. The views from that balcony and from the garden were simply breathtaking. Thank you very much.

    The view was truly soothing.

It was my first stay in 20 years, and the lovely lakeside setting was truly relaxing. I’d love to visit again.

    A Relaxing Summer Family Getaway

This was a trip I had been looking forward to, imagining Hakone as a cool summer retreat. With the typhoon’s influence, the weather was unpredictable—sunny at times, then suddenly rainy… Still, during our stay at the Hotel it remained cloudy enough to go for a walk, and I was satisfied. My first impression of the Hotel was that the Rooms are arranged along the building’s curved structure, and I was truly impressed by how calming it felt no matter where you were. Since dinner coincided with a family birthday, we appreciated the congratulatory words and the thoughtful attention from the staff. Thanks to them, we had a wonderful time and were very happy. Thank you very much. As for portion sizes, they were just right for me, and each dish was carefully prepared and delicious. For breakfast we chose the buffet. There was a wide variety—too much to try everything—but it felt a little cramped when carrying plates while choosing dishes. The guest room was clean and beautifully maintained. We could catch glimpses of Mt. Fuji from our Room, and we found comfort in the quiet of Lake Ashi and birdsong—it was very relaxing.

    Wonderful Hotel

We stayed here for a birthday. The fridge was stocked with plenty of drinks, along with snacks and chocolate—it made us very happy. When we arrived and checked in at the front desk, the staff’s explanation of the facilities was very easy to understand. The building felt unnecessarily large, and it was like a maze for us. That was the only downside—everything else was a very satisfying stay. Thank you very much.

Breakfast could use a little more variety.

The buffet didn’t seem to offer much of a view, so we decided at the last minute to go with Nadaman for Japanese cuisine. It was a day when Mt. Fuji was visible, and we could see it from our window-side seats. The staff were also very pleasant. Thank you. As for the meal, I’m sure the quality is good, but my impression was that it was neither particularly good nor bad. If dessert were included after the meal, the level of satisfaction and overall impression might be a bit different—especially since coffee is served after the meal anyway. Our Room was in the main building; perhaps it has been renovated? The Facility was very clean and well maintained. What was disappointing was the balcony and the glass windows/doors. This seems common in renovated Hotels: while the Room is nice, the balcony glass door and balcony still feel dated.

We were very satisfied with the meal at Nadaman.

There seemed to be many overseas staff members assigned to inbound guests, and I found myself sighing at their limited Japanese. The bath area also had guests from various backgrounds, so I had resigned myself to it. For dinner and breakfast, we chose Nadaman. Both the staff and the guests were all Japanese, and we had a truly pleasant time. Nadaman’s cuisine was excellent as well—wonderful dishes with the kind of dashi flavor that Japanese people appreciate. The simmered dishes were outstanding, and the portions were just right. I understand diversity, but when you want a moment of relief, a space shared only with people who can communicate without words feels like a real treat.

We stayed here to celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday.

I traveled with my elderly mother, and I was truly impressed by the thoughtful safety features—handrails on the way to the bath, and cushioning on the wall corners inside the restroom—so even if she lost her balance, she would be less likely to get hurt. We dined at Nadaman, and it was excellent; it was so delicious that my mother finished everything. I would definitely like to stay here again.

It was a wonderful Hotel by the beautiful lakeside!

I stayed here with a female friend for a two-person trip. There is a free Shuttle Service from Odawara Station to the Hotel. While the property shows its age, it was thoroughly cleaned throughout, and an air purifier was running in the Room. The bed linens were clean and very comfortable. Amenities were well stocked, and mineral water was provided in the Room—with unlimited refills, which was really helpful. The twin Room in the annex had beautiful views of Lake Ashi, and it was spacious enough to relax comfortably. For dining, on the first night we enjoyed Nadaman’s exquisite cuisine, and the Japanese set breakfast was also satisfying. On the second night we chose the buffet; the freshly fried tempura and roast beef were especially delicious! The bath area also had all necessary items such as bath towels, and there was a large open-air bath. However, I found the Onsen water quality a bit too light for my taste. That said, there was discounted access to a nearby day-use Onsen Facility called “Ryuguden,” where the water felt silky and wonderful. The view there is amazing as well, and I heard you can even see Mt. Fuji when conditions are right. It was a 2-night/3-day trip with plenty of sightseeing: visiting Hakone’s three major shrines; taking the ropeway to Owakudani; touring The Hakone Open-Air Museum and POLA Museum of Art; cruising on Lake Ashi; visiting Hakone-en (right next to the Hotel) aquarium; and riding the Komagatake Ropeway to Ashinoko Sora. We could reach everywhere by bus, so the Hotel’s location was perfect! This is a calm Resort Hotel on Lake Ashi for adults, with staff who greeted us warmly—truly what you’d expect from Prince Hotels. Unfortunately it was cloudy this time so we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji, but I’d love to come back again to see snow-capped Mt. Fuji. I had heard getting around inside could be difficult, but staying in the annex made it easy—the Onsen area was close by too.

Perfect for a classic lakeside stay

It had been a while since our last stay, and once again we enjoyed the best holiday! This time as well, we were completely satisfied with a relaxing stay—taking leisurely walks by Lake Ashi that felt like being abroad, along with Onsen and exquisite cuisine. Throughout the property, we could truly feel “The Prince” spirit. We were especially impressed by the outstanding hospitality at both Trianon and Yamaboshi, where we were looked after morning and evening. The Hotel staff are wonderful. Next time, we would love to book a Multiple Night Stay and relax even more. The bus from Odawara is always very helpful as well. We also greatly appreciated the IKYU Diamond benefits for the first time on this trip—thank you very much.

A stay for the first time in decades

Whenever I visited Hakone, I always used the Hotel’s café and dining options, but this was my first stay in decades. From our Room in the annex, we could overlook the lakeside and enjoy a peaceful time. The buffet-style meals were great because it was easier than a set course to choose and enjoy whatever we liked. I also felt that having a large public bath in the Hotel is something unique to Hakone.

I was able to show my parents the best appreciation!

Now in my 40s and with my parents in their 70s, I stayed here for a special parent-and-child trip. Unfortunately, it rained, but in the end we had an extremely satisfying stay. The sense of history, the tasteful architecture and furnishings, the staff’s hospitality, the wonderful meals (we dined at Le Trianon for both dinner and breakfast), and the cleanliness of the large public bath—plus the stunning view from the open-air bath—were all outstanding. My parents were truly delighted as well. In particular, Le Trianon’s breakfast course was the best we have ever had on any trip! Each dish—from the egg dishes to the smoothies—was carefully explained to us, making it a memorable experience (I was especially impressed that they used eggs from my hometown). Recently I stayed at newer luxury hotels in Karuizawa and Atami in a similar price range to this Hotel, but this historic Hotel clearly stands apart in terms of service and atmosphere. I hope to return with my family someday. Thank you very much.

We were truly impressed by the attentive service.

The staff’s attentiveness was outstanding. In particular, both the dinner buffet and the French cuisine were excellent. It would be perfect if there were a Facility where guests could wash their trekking shoes.

An Elegant Classic Hotel by the Lake

I stayed here because I’m interested in Hotel architecture and prefer non-foreign-owned Hotels. The classic atmosphere in the lobby and library left a strong impression, and the artwork displayed on the walls was wonderful. When dining with my grandchild, they prepared children’s tableware and a chair, and I truly appreciate the staff’s thoughtful care. The Onsen was spacious with great water quality, so I could relax at ease. I gave it 4 stars because the building felt like a maze and getting around took time, and the on-site shop’s opening hours were short. But I would like to stay again.

A Hotel You’ll Want to Keep Forever

I’m always grateful for the free Shuttle Service from Odawara Station. A Hotel in a magnificent, dignified building with an outstanding design. It can feel a bit intimidating, but the staff are always polite and friendly, so I can truly relax. This time we rode the Komagatake Ropeway and took a walk to Kuzuryu Shrine. If you feel like it, it’s also fun to visit the sea turtles at the aquarium next door. Even without a car, there is a free shuttle to Motohakone, which is very convenient. Although Motohakone can be bustling, the Hotel is unbelievably quiet. After enjoying the Onsen in the evening, sitting on a lakeside deck chair is so soothing—surrounded by fresh greenery, all you hear are gentle ripples on Lake Ashi and birdsong. When the setting sun hits the round main building, it’s simply mesmerizing. For both dinner and breakfast this time, we chose the buffet restaurant for the first time. Overall it felt slightly salty to me, but my husband loved it (haha)—and I imagine it pairs well with drinks too. I thought there was more than enough variety; there were many dishes I couldn’t try because I was too full—what a shame! The roast beef was made with great-quality meat as well. Every ice cream flavor was delicious—I ended up trying them all even though it was nighttime. The next morning brought an enchanting view of Lake Ashi shrouded in mist from our terrace—then the clouds cleared and we could see Mt. Fuji, which made me so happy. We’ve visited Hakone several times, but this was my first time seeing it properly. The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko is always a wonderful Hotel no matter when we visit. The building’s age can’t be helped, but it’s clean and easy to use, has been renovated as well—and I don’t think anything like this could be built today. Like The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike (now The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike), it’s an incredibly valuable piece of architecture. Maintaining it must be difficult, but I hope it will remain forever. I’d love to visit again soon. Thank you very much.

Relax by Lake Ashi and iconic architecture

Stay in a renowned building designed by Togo Murano. From your Room, enjoy views of Lake Ashi, where fresh green trees on the mountains across the calm water draw near, and sightseeing cruise boats passing by from time to time are always a pleasure to watch. The twin wings seen from the garden are especially striking. The large public bath features an open-air bath as well as a mist sauna for deep relaxation.

    It’s a nice Hotel.

I have stayed here many times. My requests were well communicated in advance, and the staff were courteous—this is a very good Hotel. Although it is a long-established property, it was thoroughly cleaned throughout, and I had a comfortable stay. Thank you very much.

Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Whenever I visit Hakone and Lake Ashi, I always stay at The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko. Each time, I make a Reservation for a lake-side Room in the main building, and waking up, opening the curtains, and enjoying the view of the lake and Mt. Fuji from the balcony is my happiest moment. This time, I also used the spa for the first time. The therapist’s warm personality and careful treatment were truly soothing for both body and mind. The Hotel staff are always courteous as well, and I really appreciated their friendly greetings. Above all, as someone who loves architecture, it is a joy to stay in this beautiful Hotel designed by Togo Murano. I would love to stay at The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko again whenever I visit Lake Ashi. Thank you very much.

    Thank you.

I stayed on the first day of the March holiday weekend. As I was traveling with my parents who came from far away and my niece, we had various requests from the start, and I truly appreciate your kind and attentive support. During our stay, you also arranged a taxi and warmly assisted a companion who wasn’t feeling well by lending an ice pack and a thermometer. The hospitality was so wonderful that I would love to stay here again when visiting Lake Ashi, and I would gladly recommend this Accommodation to friends visiting Lake Ashi as well. Thank you very much.

We had a truly elegant and relaxing stay.

I was impressed by the spacious, solid-feeling room, the high-quality materials, and the architect’s attention to detail—features rarely found in modern buildings. It truly lived up to what you’d expect from Prince Hotel. This time we stayed to visit Kuzuryu Shrine, and my girlfriend was delighted and said she’d love to return again next year. Above all, the open-air bath offered an incredible sense of openness, and the Onsen quality was excellent. The in-room bathroom was also very convenient, and enjoying a calm, elegant adult getaway was truly special. The breakfast buffet was delicious and relaxing, and I felt that all the guests were very well-mannered. The staff were highly professional, and their smooth escorting made our stay even more comfortable. Thanks to Prince Hotel, I was able to recover from the shock of Japan’s WBC elimination as well. After working hard as a reward to myself, I would love to visit again. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

The free Shuttle Service from Odawara Station is very helpful.

The free Shuttle Service from Odawara Station was very helpful. All the Hotel staff were pleasant and welcoming. The bath and the Room were comfortable as well. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style, but dinner felt a bit rushed due to the time limit. The dessert selection at Prince Group Hotel buffets tends to include many pre-made items, which was somewhat disappointing. However, the fruit was delicious, so overall I was satisfied.

Thrilled by the finest French cuisine

My spouse and I stay at so-called top-tier Hotels and Ryokans almost every month, and this time we chose the “Le Trianon Bonheur Dinner & Royal Breakfast” Plan. It was the first time in a while that we were able to truly enjoy outstanding French cuisine, and we were both deeply impressed. Not only was each dish delicate and delicious, but the service from all staff members was also refined and very pleasant. We are truly grateful for such a rich and memorable time. (It was worlds apart from a well-known Hotel in Miyanoshita that we used recently.) This is a Hotel where everything—from the location and Facility to the hospitality—was fully satisfying, and it is also convenient that you can use the free shuttle bus from Odawara. We would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

I visited again for the first time in decades.

The main building’s distinctive corridors and their curved ceilings made our stay feel nostalgic and relaxing. The staff’s service was attentive and pleasant. Some staff members seemed focused on following scripted phrases and came across as a bit formal, but it was never unpleasant—rather, it felt endearing. Above all, we were happy to enjoy a quiet stay.

    A Hotel with Warm Hospitality

The Facility is old, but the staff were very kind and helpful. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet-style, and we were satisfied with both the taste and variety. Unfortunately, traffic was terrible, so we didn’t have any time to explore the Hotel or the surrounding area. However, since the Hotel is located right by Lake Ashi, it seems like it would be pleasant even to take a short walk from the Hotel. The children were really into playing table tennis.

    We had a relaxing stay.

This was my first stay. Lake Ashi spread out right in front of us, and the view from our Room was wonderful. The Hotel was spacious, so we were able to enjoy ourselves without going anywhere else. The Onsen was very relaxing, and perhaps because it was the off-season, we could take our time. We were very satisfied with the buffet meals; my daughter said the steak and desserts were the best! We will make another Reservation and visit again. Also, all of the Hotel staff were very kind—we truly appreciated their help with our luggage and their thoughtful attention. Thank you very much.

    We had a wonderful vacation.

This was my first stay. The Room was even nicer than in the photos—beautiful, warm, and inviting. I enjoyed the Nadaman kaiseki dinner with white wine; every dish was carefully prepared and delicious. However, the course portion was not quite enough, so I ordered additional items. It would have been even better if the course had included a meat dish. Breakfast was very satisfying. The Onsen was a bit far from the Room, but soaking in the open-air bath while looking out over Lake Ashi was pure bliss. Thank you very much.

I will no longer choose the buffet.

We had the dinner buffet. The younger staff were very pleasant and worked efficiently, which left a good impression, but unfortunately the man and woman carving the roast beef were unkind, which was disappointing. It really took away from the enjoyment. Also, we did not feel the overall quality of the buffet was very good. We won’t be having the buffet dinner again. Breakfast at Nadaman was delicious, with service that felt true to Nadaman’s standards, and we enjoyed it at a relaxed pace while looking out at Mt. Fuji. The view from our Room was beautiful.

    It was great.

Please continue the bus service from Odawara Station—it was excellent. We had dinner and breakfast at Nadaman, and we were happy to enjoy the same consistently delicious food as always. We hope you will keep serving this classic Japanese cuisine just as it is. We stayed in the main building, and the Room was spacious with a wonderful panoramic view of Lake Ashi, which felt great. We had a very comfortable stay. The only minor drawback is that the Onsen is a bit far, but given the building’s layout it can’t be helped, and it makes for a nice walk, so it’s fine. We would love to visit again during the colder season. Thank you very much!

We stayed with a young child, and the staff kindly supported us whenever needed, making our stay very comfortable. Just walking around the beautiful Hotel and its garden was more than enough to enjoy, and it made for a truly fulfilling trip. Next time, we would love to visit with three generations of our family.
