    The closest Hotel to Angel Road

    Stayed in a room with an Angel Road view and found the scenery very relaxing. The coffee service in the lounge was a pleasant touch. Although the time to cross Angel Road was after check-out, they kindly allowed us to use the parking lot, which was very helpful. Dinner followed a traditional course style; with some creative presentation, it could be more appetizing. Unfortunately, during breakfast, two foreign female staff members were chatting continuously in the middle of the floor, occasionally moving apart and then coming back together—it was distracting and unpleasant.

    I had always wanted ...

    I had always wanted to visit Shodoshima and see Angel Road, and I was finally able to go by reserving this hotel. Although rain was forecasted for the day, it stopped by the evening, and I was able to walk across Angel Road. The hotel staff were very kind and welcomed me with a smile even though I checked in early. The room had a great view of Angel Road as well. During the meal, they kindly answered my questions, and when it felt a bit chilly while dining, they noticed right away and brought me a lap blanket. The next day, after checking out, I enjoyed fishing at a nearby beach which was wonderful. I would love to stay here again!

    The view was stunnin...

    The view was stunning, and I was very satisfied overall. However, my rating for the public bath is low because there were suspicious fluffy particles about 5mm in size floating in the water. I tried changing bathtubs, but they were present there as well, so I quickly rinsed off with the shower and left. It looked somewhat like tissue paper, but I am not certain. As for meals, the rice balls seemed to be popular; however, I noticed this only after serving plain rice and did not get a chance to try them. It would have been helpful if there had been a comment displayed next to the rice cooker about this. While I had no complaints about the ingredients used in the food, the view from the dining hall window was unappealing. This is something that could use some improvement. The Shuttle Service was well-organized, and overall, my experience was satisfying.

    The staff is excellent.

    Shodoshima is my late father's hometown, and we visit as a family from time to time. We have stayed at various accommodations before, but our family had the impression that meals in Shodoshima were not particularly noteworthy. So, we decided to try a different hotel this time and chose this one. The exterior of the building is large and impressive, though it does feel a bit dated. However, once inside, everything was spotlessly clean, and the room we stayed in seemed to have been nicely renovated. I did think that the bathroom could be made a little more user-friendly. The dinner was exceptional with very fresh fish dishes; everyone was thrilled to finally find delicious food in Shodoshima! We stayed for two nights, and on the second night, they changed most of the menu for us—something we deeply appreciated. Additionally, the staff's warm smiles and excellent service were outstanding. When I accidentally broke an elegant sashimi plate during our stay, they kindly reassured me by saying plates are meant to break eventually—such kindness left me feeling both apologetic and grateful. For our next visit, there’s no doubt—we’ll choose Kokusai Hotel!

    The closest Hotel to Angel Road.

    The location was perfect as my main purpose was to visit Angel Road. The Hotel staff were all very kind and made me feel comfortable. The foreign staff members had mastered Japanese-style hospitality, which was impressive. The meals were delicious, featuring locally caught fish, leaving nothing to be desired. I was pleasantly surprised by the service of offering rice balls as a late-night snack in front of the large public bath with a "help yourself" sign—it was truly touching. However, one disappointing point was that a family of about 10 foreign guests spoke loudly during their meal, making it very noisy. The restaurant's structure amplified their voices, and combined with their alcohol consumption, their loud conversation could even be heard clearly from the hallway. Naturally, conversations at my table were drowned out by the noise as well. Considering cultural differences, I wish the restaurant staff had observed the situation and taken courage to address it politely.

    The room's washroom is like a Business Hotel.

    Typically, accommodations of this class have separate bath, toilet, and washbasin facilities. However, similar to a business hotel, everything here is combined into a single unit. This was an unexpected and disappointing experience for me. At check-in, the front desk staff coughed twice during their explanation and did not mention the complimentary drink service for guests. The facility is old but the room itself is clean. The meals are average—neither particularly good nor bad. The bath operates on a gender-swapping schedule between morning and evening. One of the outdoor baths has no view despite being located by the sea due to surrounding barriers blocking it entirely. The other offers a view of the ocean but feels overly exposed; I couldn't help but wonder if it's visible from outside when heading to it.

    Thank you to the shuttle service driver.

    Before arriving at the Hotel, we had a pleasant conversation, and the staff was very kind and quick-witted, making it the best Shuttle Service I've experienced so far. The view of the sea from the Hotel Room was beautiful and exceeded my expectations. Although the Room was of an older type, it was within the expected range. The meal on the second night was good.

    Good value for money.

    We visited during a once-in-several-years cold wave. From the Reviews, we had imagined a slightly old-fashioned Hotel, but perhaps due to renovations, both the interior and the Room were much cleaner than expected. It was a bit disappointing that the Room did not have a view of Angel Road. The position of the faucet at the sink was inconvenient to use. During the meal, a foreign staff member explained the sashimi by saying, "This is tuna, and this is sea bream," which made us chuckle (laugh).

    Hotel with a magnificent view

    The staff were very kind, and the cleaning was thorough, making it a truly pleasant stay. The Room options seem to include ocean view and Angel Road view. I stayed in an Angel Road view Room on the top 8th floor, and the view was absolutely perfect. The vast sea seen through the large windows made me wish I could live here. The seafood was fresh and delicious, but I thought it would be nice to have a few more warm dishes.

    The view is excellent.

    This is my fourth stay. This time, I traveled alone. As always, the sunrise is breathtaking, and this view is unique and wonderful. I appreciated the seating arrangement that allowed me to relax even when dining alone. The room was a Japanese-style room on the second floor with an Angel Road view. The tatami mats were clean and comfortable, but the washroom and toilet were quite old and seemed to be reaching their limits. The view is so wonderful that I would like to stay in a slightly better room if I have the chance again.

    Please place a women's mirror in the Room.

    I wanted to cross Angel Road for the New Year, so I visited here. I was very satisfied to be able to cross it on the morning of the last day. I was grateful for the kind advice from the front desk about when it would be safe to cross. It was nice to have local fish and soy sauce at the buffet. If I may say, there are few power outlets, making it inconvenient to charge mobile phones, and there is no mirror for women's makeup. It's a good place for workations, so it would be appreciated if it could accommodate long-term stays for IT professionals. Although the location is good, the building is generally aging, so if I had the money, I think it would be good to renovate and increase the unit price. Also, I received a body towel at check-in, but I tend to forget to bring it to the bath, so I think it would be better if bath-related amenities were only available in the bath for those who don't plan to bathe in the Room.

    The location is good.

The light seasoning with a good dashi flavor made it easy for me to eat. However, food from other regions, like shirako, might not have been necessary... If I may say, the lack of power outlets made it inconvenient to charge devices like mobile phones. Although the location is good, the building is generally aging, so if I had the money, I would consider renovating it and possibly increasing the price. Also, I received a body towel at check-in, but I tend to forget to bring it to the bath, so for those who don't plan to bathe in the Room, it might be better to have bath-related amenities available only in the bath area.

    The view is excellent.

    It takes one hour by ferry from Takamatsu in Shikoku to Tonosho Port. The weather was favorable, and the Hotel was nearby, allowing us to walk to Angel Road in no time, making it perfect time-wise. The sunset was beautiful, and we asked the Hotel staff to take photos for us, for which we are grateful. There is a large public bath, but since it was a bit difficult for my husband to bathe alone, we used the Room bath. However, the shower hose was leaking, making it hard to use, and the toilet made a loud, high-pitched noise when flushed, which was concerning. We had the breakfast buffet, and the venue was spacious with a typical selection of food. The building felt a bit old, but the staff were pleasant, and above all, the view was fantastic!

    The room on the top floor with an open-air bath was the best. A bath while overlooking the illuminated Angel Road! It was healing.

    During dinner, the f...

    During dinner, the foreign male server provided excellent service from his language to his overall demeanor, allowing us to enjoy our meal pleasantly. The breakfast buffet was also abundant in variety, and we were able to enjoy our meal leisurely in the spacious dining area. However, a significant downside was the lack of simple tabi socks provided for going to the bath or meals in a yukata.

    The location is excellent.

    I stayed in a Premium Twin Room. The location, where you can see the changes of Angel Road from the room, is excellent, but the bathroom and toilet in the room were an old unit bath, which lowered my spirits.

    Enjoyed the Seto Inland Sea from the Room.

    Stayed in a designer Room. It was great to lounge on the large cushions on the tatami mats! The Room had a great view of the sea and islands, which was relaxing and leisurely. I was able to see the path of Angel Road form. The view is simply breathtaking. The Room was also clean. The shop had a wide variety of items, and I was able to shop leisurely after bathing. The first floor of the Hotel had many modern sofas where you could relax and enjoy the view of the sea. The seasonal Halloween decorations were also very beautiful. There was plenty of space, which made me feel elegant. I enjoyed the non-functional, non-rational space away from everyday life. The sashimi was delicious. The complimentary coffee was delicious. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    The view from the Room is wonderful.

    The hotel was in a great location, close to Tonosho Port and right in front of Angel Road. Although the parking lot at Angel Road was full, we were grateful to be able to use the hotel's parking lot. The view from the room was truly wonderful, and even though the weather wasn't very favorable, we were still very satisfied. There were many options for breakfast, and it was the first time we had rice balls made right in front of us, which was both delicious and enjoyable. Thank you very much.

    A balcony to fully enjoy the Seto Inland Sea

    Stayed in a top-floor Room of the main building, enjoying the serene Seto Inland Sea views from the balcony's open-air bath and wooden chairs. Watching the sunrise and Angel Road from the Room's private open-air bath was an unforgettable experience. The public open-air bath is enclosed for privacy, so it doesn't offer sea views; however, staying in a Room with a private open-air bath is worth the extra cost. While the building's exterior shows its age, the Rooms are well-maintained and exude a warm countryside charm. The meals were rich in natural flavors, making for a relaxing stay that captured Shodoshima’s tranquil atmosphere.

    The facility is old, but the comfort is very good.

    The location right in front of Angel Road is wonderful. Be amazed by the ebb and flow of the tides, a natural wonder. The scenery of the Seto Inland Sea is also very beautiful.

    Great location

    It was very nice to be able to see Angel Road from above. The room on the 8th floor had large windows, allowing us to leisurely watch the ebb and flow of the tide, which was fantastic.
