    Outstanding hospitality, delicious cuisine, and a fantastic view!

    The staff provided very courteous service, which made for a pleasant stay. The Room was also an upgraded one, so it was spacious and had a great view. However, I was surprised at how old the bathroom fixtures were. Everything looked yellowed, the toilet could not be flushed until the tank refilled, and I did not feel comfortable using the bathtub. For a Room of this level to have plumbing like this was very disappointing—worse than what you would expect even at a Business Hotel.

    We stayed here becau...

    We stayed here because it’s close to Angel Road. We could see Angel Road from our Room. We couldn’t cross on the first night, but it was beautifully illuminated. We were able to cross the next morning, which was great. Meals were buffet-style, and we enjoyed a variety of dishes such as sashimi, somen noodles, and udon. It was also nice that alcoholic drinks were all-you-can-drink. On our way back, we left our luggage at the tourist center near Tonosho Port and explored Shodoshima. The driver who provided Shuttle Service to Tonosho Port told us where to find cheaper coin lockers. We were surprised that nearby lockers cost more than twice as much even though the distance wasn’t much different! We really appreciated it. We enjoyed sightseeing around Shodoshima.

    Excellent hospitality

    We visited for a summer vacation trip with our child. The staff were extremely courteous, remembered us throughout our stay, checked in on us when we arrived late due to the ferry schedule, and provided various thoughtful services during meals. Some of the Room amenities are a bit old, but the interior has been renovated, so it was only a minor concern. It is conveniently located for fishing, sightseeing, and other activities, which made it very convenient. It was the best summer vacation for our child.

    The location is excellent.

    Perhaps because it is listed on IKYU and the room rate was high, our expectations may have been set too high, but we were quite disappointed. It seemed to have been renovated, but the Facility felt old, and the toilet and air conditioner also seemed outdated. The meals were buffet-style, but the only thing that tasted good was the beer. That said, it is close to Angel Road and the location was excellent. All of the staff were very pleasant and seemed to enjoy their work. It seems to be a family-oriented Hotel, so if you stay with that in mind from the start, I think it is a good Hotel.

    We had a comfortable day.

    The Room was spacious and had a great ocean view. The meals were served in just the right portions, and every fish dish was delicious. Breakfast venues are often crowded, but here there was plenty of space, so we could dine comfortably in a relaxed, calm atmosphere. We would love to stay again.

    A Satisfying Hotel

    The Hotel is bright and comfortable, conveniently located near Angel Road on Shodoshima. You can enjoy beautiful views from the guest rooms. Even without using the Hotel shuttle bus, shared bicycles are available right outside, making it very easy to get to sightseeing spots. The food is excellent, and the staff are very kind and attentive. I will definitely choose this Hotel again on my next visit to Shodoshima.

    Highly recommended.

    As mentioned in other Reviews, the Facility appears to be old, but your hospitality more than made up for it and truly impressed me. Everyone at the Accommodation was friendly, and I had a very comfortable stay. I only had breakfast, but everything I ate was delicious. If I had to mention one disappointment, it would be that the menu did not change during my Multiple Night Stay (perhaps because there aren’t many guests staying multiple nights). Rather than a disappointment, that may just be my own selfish request. If I have the chance to visit Shodoshima again, I would love to stay with you again. Thank you very much.

    Everyone is kind.

    Five of us—friends from our student days—stayed here to see Angel Road. First, the front desk staff guided us kindly and courteously. Since we stayed in a special room, we were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary drinks in the refrigerator and the Imabari towels. Dinner was a kaiseki meal, and because I can’t eat meat, they changed my dish from steak to sea bream grilled on a ceramic plate. We were also very happy with how kind the staff at the souvenir shop were. The next day, the Shuttle Service driver to Tonosho Port carefully explained how to buy ferry tickets and where to board. The taxi driver and everyone at the restaurants were also truly kind and welcoming—everyone on Shodoshima was so friendly.

    Meals

    Although the building is old, the special dinner was very delicious. We were completely satisfied with olive beef and abalone. The view from the Room on the 8th floor was excellent.

    Angel Road View

    We stayed in an ocean-view Room with a view of Angel Road. The wide-open views of the sky and sea were very relaxing. The staff were courteous and attentive. The services within the Facility were also excellent, and we were very satisfied.

    Favorite Hotel

    It was my first stay here in about 10 years. The building is showing its age, but this is a favorite Hotel of mine, perfectly located at a stunning viewpoint overlooking Angel Road up close. I’d love to come back again.

    It was an enjoyable trip to Shodoshima.

    We traveled to Shodoshima without using a rental car, relying on buses and rental bicycles instead. We chose this hotel for its convenient location and made the reservation here. Situated next to Angel Road with a bus stop right in front of the hotel, it was incredibly convenient. We were lucky to catch a view of Angel Road at dawn! Although we planned to borrow the hotel's rental bicycles, strong winds that day prevented us from doing so—a small hiccup during our stay. However, the staff were extremely kind and helpful (we ended up using app-based rental bicycles). The well-stocked souvenir shop was also a highlight. Meals were served in just the right portions and tasted delicious. One minor issue was that due to strong winds, there was a whistling sound like a flute in the dinner venue, which was slightly distracting.

    Overall very satisfied, but there was one disappointing aspect.

    I stayed in a room with an open-air bath on the 6th floor. The view from the room was spectacular, offering sights of Angel Road and the islands of Seto Inland Sea. The bath automatically filled with hot water, and the scent of cypress combined with the sound of waves created a luxurious experience. The in-room amenities were excellent, and dinner served in a semi-private space was delightful. However, I was disappointed to find tissue left inside the haori jacket provided for wearing over yukata, seemingly from a previous guest, indicating it had not been washed after use. Some guests may return such items to the closet as they are; therefore, all wearable items should be thoroughly cleaned as standard practice. This raised concerns about whether pillowcases and sheets were properly laundered as well.

    Not worth the price as it is expensive. Although it is near Angel Road, the Japanese-style room and the onsen appear worn out. Really disappointed.

    The designer rooms are compact.

    The designer Room is too small for three people. The unit bath and toilet being combined like in a Business Hotel is inconvenient. It’s uncomfortable to have to be considerate of others in the same room when using the toilet at night. The bath and toilet should be separate, like in a Ryokan. The large public bath and open-air bath were excellent.

    Beautiful scenery and excellent service from the staff.

    Conveniently located with direct access to Angel Road, offering stunning ocean views from the hotel lobby and rooms. A shuttle service is available to match the ferry schedule, making it very convenient. We opted for a reasonably priced Japanese-style room with no meals included due to our busy stay. For this reason, we rated the room 3 stars, but it was spacious and ideal for families with children. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the staff provided excellent service for a pleasant stay. If you have more time to relax, we recommend trying the designer rooms or rooms with open-air baths.

    Stayed in Special Room Type B with 3 people.

    We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay. The Room was very comfortable, including the private bath, and it was convenient even with children. The view from the Room was also great. However, there were some minor issues with the service. For Multiple Night Stays, an eco-service is suggested at check-in to reduce water consumption by skipping cleaning, but it felt more like a decline in service rather than an eco-friendly initiative. On the second day, we had to pick up replacement towels ourselves at the front desk, and the towels provided were thinner than the bath towels prepared on the first day, along with just one bottle of water. Additionally, the refrigerator drinks were not restocked, as they only do so if cleaning is requested. Since the price does not change regardless of whether cleaning is done, those planning a Multiple Night Stay should be aware of this. Regarding meals, we requested food for an infant, but the kids' meal on the first day consisted mostly of pre-made items (such as frozen ketchup rice, omelets, and hamburgers), and honestly, the taste was not great. We considered canceling the meal for the second day to avoid wasting food, but the menu changed on the second day, including handmade items like rice balls and chawanmushi, which our child enjoyed eating. However, the dessert was limited to fruits and soy sauce pudding (the same dessert for both days), which was a bit disappointing. Given that the price was comparable to a high-end Ryokan due to the holiday weekend, the level of service did not quite meet expectations. Despite the criticisms, I personally would like to stay here again if I visit Shodoshima. Thank you very much.

    First Visit to Shodoshima

    This trip was for hiking to Hoshigajo. I chose this place because it is convenient for bus transportation and going out for dinner at night. The Shuttle Service to the port was helpful. It was nice that I could walk to dinner in the evening. The toilet, sink, and bath in the Room are combined, which I found inconvenient. During my 3-night stay, I had dinner once, and it was delicious. I think there is room for improvement in breakfast.

    It was comfortable.

    We stayed as a group of three women. The building has a sense of history, but the excellent location and the stunning view from the lobby created unforgettable memories that can only be experienced here. We could see Angel Road from our room and bath, and we enjoyed going down at a quiet time to take photos by changing into sandals through the hotel's private entrance to the beach. The shuttle service was very kind, and amenities in the room such as drinks, a mirror for makeup in bright light, privacy screens for the open-air bath in the room, a shop open from morning until late at night with almost all souvenirs available, board game rentals, etc., were all thoughtful touches that made our stay enjoyable. The complimentary towel with a woven design of Shodoshima became a memorable keepsake. The meals were all delicious and enjoyable, and we appreciated the delightful service of making rice balls for breakfast. All staff members were kind, making our stay comfortable—thank you for a wonderful experience. Next time, we would like to stay for multiple nights to relax and enjoy the scenery at leisure.

    No Meals Included

    The slippers provided in the room were dirty, so I believe disposable ones should be used. I visited the open-air bath at night, but various things (such as dirt) were floating in the dimly lit water, which made me uncomfortable and I decided not to enter. After my stay, when being taken to Tonosho Port, the shuttle service first stopped at the Takamatsu ferry terminal and then a car rental shop. After that, it seemed like the car was heading in a different direction. When I asked "What about Tonosho Port?", it turned out that there had been some mistake and they had forgotten to go there. As a result, we arrived at the port just barely on time; I had to run to purchase tickets and hurriedly board the ferry (there wasn’t enough time to buy tickets at the counter or purchase Kamome Bus tickets). Of course, mistakes can happen since it's work-related (and there was an apology), but with everything feeling rushed at the end combined with other issues during my stay, this is not an accommodation I would want to visit again.

    A great accommodation.

    The building and Facility are old, but the proximity to Angel Road and other advantages more than made up for it. The open-air bath was great! The meals were quite substantial, so perhaps reducing the volume slightly to enhance quality could be an option, but overall, I was very satisfied.

    The unit bath is...

    I stayed in the Premium Twin Room on the top floor. The view of Angel Road from the window and the area near the bed, as shown in the photos, was exactly as imagined and very pleasant. Although it was mentioned that the Premium Twin Room underwent interior renovations in February 2018, the bathroom seemed to be from 20–30 years ago? The unit bath was extremely small, like one for a single-person apartment. The lighting was dim, and the bidet toilet seat was old with a discolored brown seat. The toilet water didn’t flush well; I had to repeat flushing → waiting for water to refill (which took a long time) → flushing several times. The door also rattled and was hard to open. While cleaning was done properly, every time I went to wash my hands, it dampened my mood. The special Japanese kaiseki dinner exceeded expectations and left me very satisfied. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. I appreciated thoughtful touches like shuttle service, fireworks viewing arrangements, sandal rentals, etc., but unfortunately, only the unit bath left much to be desired!

    The staff were all very friendly and greeted us warmly. The Hotel seems to have some years behind it, but it was well-maintained and clean. The dinner was delicious, with fresh sashimi and tasty abalone. The olive beef was tender, and even the children enjoyed it. We were completely satisfied with the meal. The view of Angel Road from the Room was breathtaking, offering an amazing scenery.

    First Time on Shodoshima

    The view of the changing tides of Angel Road from the Room made us lose track of time. It became a very memorable experience. The meals, featuring fresh seafood, were incredibly delicious. However, although the baths operated on a gender-swapping schedule, it was disappointing that the outdoor bath in the men's section during the evening only had a view of walls despite being near the sea.

    The closest Hotel to Angel Road

    Stayed in a room with an Angel Road view and found the scenery very relaxing. The coffee service in the lounge was a pleasant touch. Although the time to cross Angel Road was after check-out, they kindly allowed us to use the parking lot, which was very helpful. Dinner followed a traditional course style; with some creative presentation, it could be more appetizing. Unfortunately, during breakfast, two foreign female staff members were chatting continuously in the middle of the floor, occasionally moving apart and then coming back together—it was distracting and unpleasant.
