    Summer Vacation

    This was the only Hotel in the Hotel New Awaji group I hadn’t stayed at yet, so we visited during our summer vacation. The Facility is a bit old, but it was kept reasonably clean. The Onsen water was excellent, and the view from the bath helped me forget my everyday fatigue. Personally, I think this had the best meals of any Hotel New Awaji property I’ve visited so far—this is a big plus for me. My daughter also said she wants to go again.

    The staff provided courteous and thorough explanations. The Room was spacious and clean. For dinner, we enjoyed a full conger eel course. There were many dishes, and we were very satisfied.

    The quality of the hot spring water was excellent.

    The bath was excellent, and the staff service was outstanding. The meals were also unique compared to other Hotels, and even on our second night, the menu offered plenty of variety.

    Your First Visit to Awaji Island

    This was my first stay on Awaji Island. The top-floor Room had a great view and was excellent. It was disappointing that the Onsen rock bath was closed for use.

    The Best Sunset

    The best part was taking my time on the wooden terrace, watching the Onaruto Bridge and the beautiful sunset sinking into the horizon. (Thank you for kindly waiting for us even though it was during meal service hours.) The food was delicious and very generous in portion size—we were completely satisfied. (We also enjoyed several types of Awaji beer.) It was a little disappointing that the rock bath was out of order, but thanks to the wonderful hospitality of all the staff, we had an amazing stay. Thank you very much.

    Family Trip to Celebrate a 60th Birthday

    We stayed here for a family trip to celebrate a 60th birthday. We were truly touched by the Hotel’s surprise celebration, and my husband was delighted as well. The meals were so filling that we felt sorry we couldn’t finish everything. The sunset was also visible from our Room and was absolutely beautiful. We would love to stay again.

    Despite informing the staff at check-in that allergy accommodations were needed and that futon setup was not required, this information was not shared among the staff, which made my stay unpleasant. I hope steps will be taken to prevent similar issues in the future.

    Excellent.

    They kindly assisted us from check-in onward. The meals were delicious and we were very satisfied! The Room was clean, and we were able to relax and spend our time in a calm, peaceful mood. If we can spend a day like that again, we’d love to come back!

    This was our second ...

    This was our second stay. Last time there were two of us, but this time we came as three. The beds were comfortable, but the futon bedding was less so; I think the mattress could be improved. However, there was nothing at all to complain about regarding the Room. Meals were served in the Room, and the rice in particular was outstanding. We asked our attendant and learned it was Awajishima Ayuhara rice, and we ended up buying some to take home at a nearby market. The abalone served at dinner on the first night was tough—I'm not sure why. It also felt like dinner on the second night was more luxurious than on the first. Since we stayed in a detached annex Room (“Hanare”), it was quite far to get to the large public bath and anywhere else. The staff service deserves top marks. We would love to visit again.

    We were satisfied with the in-Room bath, the Room, and the meals. Since my father cannot go to the bath on his own, we really appreciated having a bath in the Room. We also wanted my mother to be able to relax, so we were very happy with this trip.

    The views and the quality of the hot spring water are both outstanding.

    Although I ended up staying alone because my companion suddenly became unwell, all the staff were kind and provided attentive, personalized service. Since I had my stomach completely removed due to gastric cancer, it is difficult for me to eat a full portion, but they kindly accommodated my requests—such as serving smaller portions from the start and letting me take dessert back to my Room to enjoy later. The Onsen’s open-air bath felt luxurious and modern, and the sunset view was breathtakingly beautiful. Lying down on the slanted seating area, I could gaze at the sparkling stars—it was incredibly relaxing. Three months after major surgery, it made me feel truly grateful to be alive. I felt deeply healed—thank you very much.

    During dinner, one staff member noisily slammed plates and glasses down when serving, which was unpleasant. It was disappointing because the other staff were friendly and attentive. The building is aging, but the overall impression depends greatly on how the staff treat guests. I trusted this Hotel because it is part of the Hotel New Awaji group, but I would not recommend it.

    The view from the Room is spectacular.

    I took the loop bus from Fukura Port to the Hotel, but since it is on a fairly distant hilltop, I felt that if you don’t have your own car, having dinner outside the Hotel would be unrealistic. The Hotel dinner was a standard course with a Japanese-Western fusion style, and I enjoyed it. The seafood was especially delicious. The large public bath offers two completely different Onsens to enjoy. The view from the open-air bath was outstanding, and I watched the setting sun while soaking in the water. In contrast to the salty open-air bath, the indoor bath had gentle, silky water that was very relaxing. The Room was spacious and comfortable for unwinding. The bed was on the firm side but still very comfortable to sleep on. I stayed on the 7th floor and had a wonderful view from the window—helped by great weather as well. It also felt nice that you can open the window for fresh air. The breakfast buffet had an excellent selection of Japanese dishes made with local ingredients. It seems there is also a pool in summer, so I imagine it gets lively with families traveling with children.

    Family Trip

    We stayed for one night with my elderly parents. As we were traveling as a family of four, we were looking for a spacious Room with a great view, and chose this Hotel based on its excellent Reviews. The Room was very spacious, and the stunning view of the Naruto Bridge right in front of us exceeded our expectations. For dinner, we enjoyed cherry salmon sashimi and Awaji beef, and the breakfast buffet was also delicious. When we mentioned that my parents have difficulty walking, you kindly arranged seating close to the food. The Onsen had a smooth feel on the skin and the temperature was just right—very comfortable. Even my father, who has trouble with his legs, said it “felt better” and went in many times; it was wonderful to see how happy he was. All of the staff were very kind, and we truly appreciated that you even provided motion sickness medicine for my father on our way home after he felt carsick during the trip. It was a stay that became a wonderful family memory. Thank you very much.

    A Treasure Box of Minami-Awaji

    This was my first visit. The scenery in Minami-Awaji, the Onsen, the local ingredients and meals, and all of the staff were wonderful—I was very satisfied. I hope to visit again in a different season!

    We had a wonderful trip.

    This was my first stay here. The Room was on the ocean side on the 3rd floor. It was a bit old, but the view was great. The staff were very welcoming, and above all, breakfast had a wide variety of options with plenty of local ingredients—everything was delicious. The Onsen was also excellent. One disappointing point: every Hotel phone number only connected to an automated voice system, so I couldn’t reach anyone directly. After checking in, I went out for dinner and when I returned the parking lot was full. It was raining and dark, and I couldn’t find where to park. Even when I called the Hotel, it still only connected to the automated system, so in the end I had to go to the front desk in person. Regardless of what’s on the website, I would have liked to be given a direct phone number for guests. Other than that, it really is a wonderful Hotel. I’d like to visit again in summer. Thank you very much.

    The 3-year-aged tiger pufferfish was outstanding.

    This time, our impressions were split between “excellent” and “average.” The Room felt old, amenities were limited, and there was no body towel. It was also inconvenient to have to bring towels from the Room to the large public bath. My husband said it was inconvenient in the morning because there were no razors provided at the Onsen and he hadn’t brought one from the Room. The toilet also felt outdated. In the Room there was only tea—these days it’s disappointing not to have coffee provided, and there wasn’t even a coffee cup. For a Hotel with so few offerings, it didn’t feel like a New Awaji–affiliated property. The Onsen was a little lukewarm; since it was a cold day, I would like the temperature raised slightly. Dinner—the “3-year aged tiger pufferfish (torafugu), whole fish course”—was outstanding. The grilled shirako was delicious, the fugu was fresh and plentiful, and the rice porridge at the end was excellent as well. The restaurant staff were efficient and pleasant. Breakfast was average. I’d like to come back just for the fugu again.

    We stayed here with our family after visiting the Otsuka Museum of Art. It was a Hotel with a great view overlooking the Naruto Bridge. The Onsen had a pleasantly tingling feel, warmed us up well, and left our skin feeling moisturized. Dinner was satisfying in both taste and portion size. We had the 8:00 PM dinner Plan, but as it got later, the serving pace became faster, and we wished we could eat more slowly. It clearly felt like they wanted to finish quickly. Breakfast was also plentiful and satisfying. With beautiful views and a well-maintained garden, everything in sight was lovely, and we were able to enjoy a fulfilling stay at the Hotel.

    Awaji Island 3-Year Tiger Pufferfish

    We visited a little early to celebrate our wedding anniversary and enjoy Awaji Island 3-Year Tiger Pufferfish. Among the Hotel New Awaji Group, Plaza is my favorite for Awaji Island 3-Year Tiger Pufferfish dishes. Once again, everything was delicious. Thank you for celebrating our anniversary and for your thoughtful gesture of taking photos for us. We would love to visit again.

    We had a relaxing stay!

    The last time we stayed, the in-room bath was wonderfully spacious, so we made a Reservation again for the same Room type. The bath was just as spacious as before, and the water temperature was perfect—we really enjoyed it with our child. We also mentioned in advance that this was a maternity trip, and we appreciated the thoughtful consideration with the welcome drink. The meals were delicious as well. We’d love to stay again when the timing works out!

    Everything was excellent—the meals, the Room, and the bath. At the time of Reservation, we were told that a private dining room could not be arranged, but we were provided with private rooms for both dinner and breakfast, and everyone was very satisfied. They also accommodated an earlier meal start time, so we could relax and take our time. The view from our top-floor Room was breathtaking. We would love to visit again.

    I enjoyed the full-course fugu meal for my birthday. Since it was a very windy day, it felt chilly, and going back and forth between the open-air bath in the room and the washing area was a bit challenging. The staff member who assisted us was very pleasant, and the meal was delicious with generous portions.

    The doorman does not assist with carrying luggage.

    Without unloading the luggage from the car, I was made to go to a distant parking lot, and had to carry a Boston bag and two large bags by myself. There were three doormen who seemed idle and chatting, providing the worst service. I will never use IKYU or this Hotel again. Planning to cancel my membership next month.

    It is hard to believe that this accommodation is worth 140,000 yen per night...

    I have stayed at accommodations in the New Awaji group several times, but this was my first time staying at Bettei Sora after hearing from Manager S that it is a higher grade than Amahara. To be honest, the quality was far below expectations and cannot even be compared to other accommodations in the same price range. My husband and I were extremely disappointed to start the new year with such a poor experience. - The seat at the entrance tilted dangerously when leaning forward to take off shoes. - The room layout was inconveniently divided by hallways, making movement troublesome. - Poor flow design caused unnecessary stress. - Although accommodating up to six people, one room was designated as a luggage space and completely unusable. - The living area between washrooms had low-back sofas that were uncomfortable for relaxing. - While double sinks were appreciated, the narrow space between chairs and walls in the washroom felt cramped and stressful. - Amenities were almost non-existent (though I usually bring my own). - Despite having high-grade sanitary fixtures, there was no automatic toilet seat function which felt inconvenient. - While having an indoor bath was nice, the tile step difference near the shower booth posed a safety hazard. - The lounge on a lower floor felt small with limited tea snacks available. - Staff greetings upon encountering them outside rooms were inconsistent. As frequent visitors to Awaji Island primarily for relaxation rather than sightseeing: Dining also fell short of expectations: - The restaurant lacked any sense of privacy or semi-private spaces; tables were too close together. - Seasonal kaiseki dishes failed both in taste and presentation; nothing left an impression. - Meat lacked lean portions making it overly greasy while rice (Ayuhara brand) seemed watery instead of properly cooked in an earthen pot—left unfinished despite being our favorite type! - Breakfast buffet under ¥70k plan ranked worse than family restaurants—nothing appealing enough kept us seated beyond ten minutes; surprisingly enjoyed chocolates more back upstairs afterward!     The taste was similar to the pufferfish I usually eat, so it didn't quite meet my expectations.
