    The beer called “Kinki” is delicious.

    I stayed for one night, drawn by a special weekday rate limited to five rooms. It was my first stay in a year, and the buffet still offers an excellent selection—especially the dinner beef steak and tempura, freshly prepared and served from the live kitchen. There were also dishes made with Hokkaido ingredients such as raclette cheese, plus desserts, and I ended up eating far too much. Breakfast also has a wide variety, making it hard to choose. Enjoying as much popping salmon roe as you like is the best. The large public bath features an authentic dome-shaped Roman-style modern design dating back to its founding in 1938, and you can enjoy three types of spring water—sulfur, iron, and salt—for a truly blissful time.

    As expected from a long-established Onsen Accommodation!

    I’ve often stayed at compact, functional Hotels lately, but I was truly impressed to stay at a full-fledged Onsen Hotel again after a long time. The spaciousness throughout and the fresh flower arrangements displayed along the long corridors made me feel genuinely warm and welcomed. The buffet dishes were also creative and thoughtfully prepared, making for an enjoyable time. Needless to say, the large public bath was outstanding.

    It was comfortable.

    When we arrived at the Hotel by car, many staff members warmly welcomed us, and their courteous service made us feel very comfortable. We had a wonderful stay in every way, and we were happy with the perks as well—thank you. The hospitality was outstanding this time, and everything was very comfortable. The cafe in the entrance area had a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were kind. The seasonal strawberry fair and the soft-serve ice cream were also delicious. We plan to visit again in August, and we hope to try crab for dinner for the first time.

    Although it was a we...

    Although it was a weekday, we were able to stay at a great price, and the overall experience was fulfilling and very satisfying. We stayed in a Comfort Twin Room, which was spacious enough to fully open our suitcases. In addition, the bathroom area in the Room had been renovated and was very clean and comfortable to use. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style. There was an impressive variety of dishes, including many local specialties—more than we could possibly finish. There were also many kinds of sweets, which we really enjoyed. The baths included a Roman-style large indoor bath and an open-air bath, with three different types of spring water quality, so we could relax and soak at length. It was an Accommodation that made us want to stay again. Thank you very much.

    I can’t wait to stay here again soon!

    We stayed at the beginning of Golden Week. Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious dishes. My husband especially recommended the ice-cold beer—it was excellent. The Onsen was great, and the “Oni Sauna” was amazing as well. The service was polite and very good. Next time, I’d like to make a Reservation and bring my mother.

    Family Trip

    I stayed here on a family trip with my mother in her 80s. The building isn’t new, but it was very clean, and the lobby decorations (carp streamers, a samurai helmet, iris flowers, etc.) were lovely. There were also fresh flowers displayed by the elevator area, which showed thoughtful attention to detail. Both the Onsen and the meals were great, and we were very satisfied! One thing: we couldn’t adjust the Room air conditioning (central heating for the whole building?), so it was uncomfortably warm at night and my mother woke up many times. I hope this can be improved.

    For your Golden Week trip.

    This time we chose the “Room Assigned by the Property” Plan. Since my father has difficulty walking, we requested a Twin Room, and we truly appreciated your consideration in arranging a neighboring room. The service was attentive throughout, and the staff were also very considerate in the restaurant. The buffet offered a wide variety—from Japanese to Western and Chinese—while highlighting local ingredients, and it also featured some of the Accommodation’s specialties such as beef stew, shiokara (salted seafood), and Baumkuchen; everything was delicious. The Onsen options were diverse, including salt spring, sulfur spring, and iron spring; in particular, the sulfur spring here is pleasantly cloudy with a great atmosphere. We also enjoyed the open-air bath and sauna. Great value during Golden Week, and we were very satisfied. Thank you for taking care of us.

    Unlimited Onsen Enjoyment

    The large public bath offers three different hot spring sources, which was very satisfying for an Onsen lover like me. The sauna facilities are also excellent; the men’s and women’s saunas differ, but they rotate, so it’s recommended for sauna enthusiasts. Both meals were buffet-style and fairly standard, but there was a wide variety of dishes. I booked a Room-assigned-by-hotel Plan, but they accommodated my request for a Japanese-style Room, allowing me to relax and enjoy my stay. Thank you very much. I would definitely like to visit again.

    A truly wonderful Accommodation

    Having lived outside Hokkaido for a long time and returning for the first time in 10 years, I stayed here four times this winter. It was my first time back at the Grand Hotel in a while, and the Onsen had wonderfully rich water that felt great. It was also very convenient to have towels available in the bathing area. Dinner was excellent—especially the tuna—and there were also steak, and sometimes crab. Breakfast offered plenty of delicious options as well, including a seafood rice bowl and freshly fried donuts, and I left full every time. The staff were courteous and helpful on the phone, as well as during check-in and check-out. The renovated Room was clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. I have stayed at various hotels in Noboribetsu, but the Grand Hotel was by far the best. I would like to stay here again when I visit Noboribetsu.

    Wonderful

    For the Onsen, relax in the open-air sulfur bath, and once you’re warmed up, refresh yourself in the cold-water bath. The cold-water bath is very chilly, so I recommend taking it easy. Dinner offers a wide variety of dishes; I started with their homemade Baumkuchen. Everything was delicious, and I was very satisfied.

    Highly rated accommodation

    I visited the Grand Hotel for the first time in 30 years. The Room was a charming Japanese-style room with a nostalgic feel. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style with a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious! The steak in particular was juicy and very satisfying. The Baumkuchen was also fluffy, with many topping options, and it was delicious! Breakfast even included salmon roe, making it feel luxurious. There were many types of Onsen as well, and I warmed up in the Noboribetsu-style sulfur spring! The Diamond Member gifts were also plentiful. It was an Accommodation I would definitely like to stay at again.

    An Accommodation Perfect for Family Celebrations

    This was our third time using the Hotel for a celebration. This time, we were celebrating my parents’ 77th birthday and our child’s graduation and new job, so we booked here without hesitation. We ordered a cake as an add-on, and they accommodated our requests perfectly, including a surprise arrangement with a rental celebratory outfit. We also unexpectedly received a commemorative gift from the Hotel. As expected of such a long-established property, we truly felt their thoughtful attention to detail and warm hospitality. Our whole family checked out with smiles, happy that we had such an enjoyable time together. We would love to celebrate here again next time.

    This time, enjoy a relaxing Multiple Night Stay.

    This time, my wife and her mother enjoyed a Multiple Night Stay. They were very satisfied with the spacious Onsen and the wide variety of dishes. I’m grateful that we could show our appreciation to my 91-year-old mother-in-law. At the end of this month, we will be back again with our daughter and grandchild.

    The exceptionally large public bath—rare to find these days—was fantastic!

    The Accommodation does show its age, but fresh flowers were beautifully arranged throughout the spacious building, and everything was kept very clean—I could really feel the effort put in everywhere. Maintaining such a large property must require significant staffing and costs, but considering the wide variety at the buffet and the price, I was very satisfied. Above all, the large public bath was wonderful, and the waterfall visible from the open-air bath was stunning—I felt like I could soak for hours.

    Room with Open-Air Bath

    My first time staying in a Room with an open-air bath, my expectations were high. Later, when I checked the website, I learned the open-air bath was an artificial spring, which was a bit disappointing. Since it’s an Onsen Accommodation, I assumed it would be Onsen water—but that wasn’t the case. The open-air bath had plenty of hot water flowing in, but it never overflowed, so it may be a circulation system; still, the water felt surprisingly good. It would have been better if it were an open-air bath with a view outside, but the sky is covered and although you can supposedly see from above, the surrounding walls block any scenery—zero sense of openness. I could barely catch glimpses of stars through a small gap where the roof ends, though... The large public bath was nice in that you don’t need to bring towels from your Room. What bothered me was how some Hotel staff spoke and interacted. The people at the entrance greeted guests—so far so good—but their first comment to me was that they thought I was a blond old man. They probably didn’t mean any harm, but it didn’t feel pleasant. If they were trying to be friendly and casual, that remark was unnecessary. It’s true I have gray hair and was wearing a yellow cap, but still... Also at the live kitchen buffet: when I lined up for an omelet and asked from where they serve fried eggs instead, I was told “Over there.” “Please start over there” would be understandable, but we’re not friends; more politeness is needed. Having more live-kitchen stations might help as well—just my opinion—but it also means waiting longer as things are now. At other popular Hotels, highly requested items like seafood are sometimes offered at two stations so long lines can split up and you don’t end up with excessively long waits.

    We visited for the first time in about 30 years to celebrate both our wedding anniversary and my husband’s birthday. We sincerely appreciate the Hotel’s thoughtful hospitality. I was surprised to learn that the sauna has been recognized by Saunachelin, and we were truly impressed by the sauna experience while viewing the waterfall. The Room had been renovated and was quiet and very clean. It was disappointing that crab was not available at dinner.

    For the first time in five years.

    Has it been five years? I used to stay here often, but I haven’t visited in a while. This was my first stay in a long time. The bath and the Room were both clean and nicely maintained. The meals were excellent, with high-quality ingredients and a satisfying variety of dishes. At the end of this month, I’ll be back again with my grandchild and daughter. Also, thank you for letting us check in even though we arrived earlier than the scheduled time. My wife and I were able to relax and fully enjoy Noboribetsu’s hot spring waters.

    A Hotel friendly to people with disabilities.

    This was my first time staying here. I chose this accommodation because the bathroom and toilet were separate, and I initially thought it might be an old onsen hotel, so I didn't have high expectations. However, everything exceeded my expectations! The room was clean and spacious, with a separate bath, toilet, and sink. Although I couldn't use the onsen due to being in a wheelchair, the private bath in the room was more than satisfactory. The dedicated elevator for guests with disabilities leading directly to the restaurant was also fantastic. The meals had a wide variety of dishes, all of which were delicious and satisfying. Next time I visit Noboribetsu, I plan to stay here again. Although we didn’t use it this time, there is a private family bath available that we’d like to try next time!

    Great value for money.

    The facility was a bit dated, but the room was clean and spacious. Meals were served in a buffet style and tasted better than other facilities in the same price range. It was a weekday and not crowded, so I could relax comfortably.

    Early check-in with Diamond Member benefits, complimentary souvenirs, and a delightful experience for the whole family. Thanks to the thoughtful buffet arrangement, even during busy times, there’s minimal waiting. The hot springs were also highly satisfying!

    Great Bath

    This is my second stay at this accommodation. Last time, I stayed as part of a tour and had a great experience, so I decided to stay again. The open-air bath was particularly crowded compared to last time. While I was concerned about the manners of some international guests, the bath had a wonderful atmosphere, and the quality of the onsen was excellent. I would love to visit again when I go to Noboribetsu.

    The meals were very disappointing.

    This was our second stay at this accommodation in Noboribetsu. The large public bath was spacious, offered various types of baths, and provided a very relaxing experience. The room was clean and comfortable, allowing us to enjoy our stay. The souvenir shop had a wide selection of items, and I wish I had taken more time to browse through it. One disappointment was that although we booked a room with a private bath, the bath in the room turned out to be radium Onsen rather than natural Onsen water. Additionally, while the large public bath was enjoyable, it used added water for temperature control purposes as stated on their website. We didn’t check these details thoroughly beforehand, which is on us. Despite this misunderstanding, we still enjoyed using the private bath multiple times during our one-night stay since our young child loved taking morning baths there. However, considering Noboribetsu's reputation as a famous Onsen destination and given the relatively high accommodation cost we paid for this trip, we were left feeling somewhat disappointed by these aspects. As for meals—this part left us most dissatisfied during our visit. Dinner started at its designated time; however many dishes were already cold when served buffet-style along one long line instead of being arranged efficiently across separate stations—resulting unnecessarily long queues initially forming around food counters too crowded altogether! Moreover: Chocolate Tower dessert station wasn’t available despite being advertised beforehand without prior notice explaining why missing entirely until asking staff directly who informed machine malfunctioned unexpectedly earlier day itself yet no signage posted anywhere clarifying situation upfront guests arriving dining area unaware confusion caused avoidable frustration overall meal experience subpar compared recent stays elsewhere unfortunately disappointing conclusion otherwise pleasant trip overall lessons learned importance reading accommodations' websites carefully managing expectations accordingly future travels ahead better prepared next time!

    Accommodation after several years

    Thank you for the wonderful stay. It was my first accommodation in years, as it was close to a special anniversary. This time, I was excited about the newly added saunas (such as the Oni Sauna) since I am a sauna enthusiast. The automatic löyly provided an intense heat experience, and I enjoyed sweating profusely—it felt amazing. The onsen, including the open-air bath, was at a perfect temperature. As for meals, both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes that were delicious. Regarding the room, it was kindly upgraded to a higher rank. However, I noticed that the sofa faced away from the TV; if possible, adjusting this layout would be appreciated. Additionally, it was slightly disappointing that the view from the window only showed mountain cliffs and hotel corridors. I look forward to staying again when another opportunity arises.     The cuisine and baths are exceptional.

    The food was delicious and very satisfying. The location of the open-air bath was excellent and truly relaxing. The sauna had the highly-rated Facility as expected, but I didn't use it since I'm not a fan. However, I found the customer service to be lacking. While the staff at the entrance and front desk were professional as they represent the Hotel's image, other staff members we passed in the hallway or at the shop did not greet us or say anything. Additionally, at the buffet venue (dinner), the cooking staff (steak and tempura) seemed unfriendly and, of course, did not engage with guests. The atmosphere in the venue also felt quite gloomy.

    After all, Grand Hotel

    Thanks to the point discount, I was able to visit the Grand Hotel again after a long time since the price had gone up. The hot springs were as great as ever, and the food was delicious—it’s truly a wonderful place. I’m glad I got to enjoy the Grand Hotel's beef stew. The wine cocktail I ordered during dinner was delicious, but it would have been nice if there were notices about it on each table. While there were announcements at the counter and entrance, there weren’t any on the tables, which made me wonder, "Wasn’t that available?" I’d love to visit again!

    The age of the Room...

    I stayed for one night with dinner and breakfast included. The staff at the main entrance and front desk provided excellent service, leaving a very positive impression. The meals offered a good variety, making it enjoyable to choose. Although there was an all-you-can-eat snow crab option, my family didn’t eat it as we’re not big fans of crab. The Onsen featured sulfur springs, saline springs, and iron springs, which were enjoyable but felt somewhat small in scale. The outdoor bath in the area with the "Oni Sauna" seemed relatively new and was charming despite its compact size. Lastly, regarding the room: while the Japanese-style room showed signs of age and was clean overall, there was a musty smell that made staying in the room slightly uncomfortable. Unfortunately, even our belongings like bags and clothes ended up smelling musty as well.

    The lobby and bath, with their slightly aged but historical design, were very impressive. The breakfast venue was spacious, offering a variety of dishes to enjoy. However, it was disappointing that the Room cleaning was not done despite specifying the cleaning time during check-in.

    There might not be a second time...

    In late August 2025, stayed in a Standard Twin Non-Smoking Room with a friend. The room was located at the far end of the 4th floor. Received a Noboribetsu souvenir set (wasabi pickles, canned venison curry stew, and Onsen bath powder) as part of Diamond Member benefits. Also enjoyed an extra hour for both check-in and check-out due to membership perks. **Room & Amenities: 2/5** No remote control for the air conditioner; while it worked, it wasn’t cooling effectively. No power outlets near the bed. Being at the far end of the 4th floor made access inconvenient. Poor view facing a parking lot; morning noise from cars was noticeable when windows were open. The refrigerator cooled well, and water pressure and temperature in the shower were good. **Service: 3/5** No particularly notable service. **Onsen & Bath: 3/5** Not as clean as expected; shampoo left hair feeling rough. Many mosquitoes in the outdoor bath area (rotenburo). A Hot Spring Tax (300 yen) is required even for guests staying overnight. Sulfur concentration in the sulfur spring felt weak. Sauna and rotenburo hours need to be checked as they are not available late at night. **Facility: 3/5** Ice was charged at 100 yen per serving. Only one washing machine and dryer available on-site. Vending machines had good variety, but smoking areas were limited to two locations (1st and 3rd floors), which could feel hot during summer. **Dining: Overall - 3/5 (Dinner - 2/5, Breakfast - 4/5)** Dinner wasn’t very enjoyable personally; water and tea were free but all juices and alcohol cost extra. Plates weren’t cleared promptly by staff, making dining space cramped. Breakfast was better than dinner with multiple juice options, milk, coffee-to-go service for rooms, unlimited salmon roe toppings, and several seafood varieties available.

    Large Hotel

    The Hotel is spacious and seems to carry the charm of its bustling days during the bubble era. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. The bath temperature was perfect, but it felt a bit small. The buffet venue was impressively large, which surprised us. There were plenty of dishes to choose from, and we enjoyed them thoroughly.
