    The Onsen is very relaxing.

    I often visit Ise Shrine, but this time I decided to extend my trip a bit to enjoy the Onsen and scenery. This was my second stay at this accommodation. Highlights: The fresh Ise lobster and abalone for dinner were incredibly delicious. The tempura at the buffet was freshly fried and so good that I went back for seconds. The Onsen was spacious and very relaxing. Just for this alone, I'm glad I chose this accommodation. Concerns: The breakfast buffet felt somewhat ordinary, possibly using pre-made or frozen items? It was a bit disappointing compared to the excellent dinner. Also, while the room was well-maintained and clean, the creaky floorboards were noticeable every time I walked. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. I'd love to come back again if given the chance!

    Family Trip

    This is my second stay this year. The room has been renovated, and I had a very comfortable stay. The view from the room was also fantastic. The all-you-can-eat tempura for dinner was delightful, especially the sweet and delicious sweet potato tempura. I will definitely use this accommodation again. Thank you very much!

    Upon arrival, we were surprised when the staff only directed us to the parking lot after unloading our suitcases from the car, without offering to carry our luggage. An elderly woman with difficulty walking was seen transporting her luggage on a cart by herself. The room was newly renovated and clean, and the onsen was spacious and enjoyable. However, the dinner service was terrible. Despite pressing the call button multiple times, no one came, so we had to leave our seats to order drinks from a staff member ourselves. As there were four of us at a table for four, there wasn’t enough space on the table for dishes when getting food from the buffet. When we asked for used dishes to be cleared away, we were told to take them ourselves to a wagon located some distance away. We ended up clearing our own dishes multiple times during dinner. Even when we complained about this poor service to another female staff member who wasn’t in charge of our table, she only responded verbally but continued attending solely to her assigned tables. For a plan costing 30,000 yen per night per person—amounting to over 100,000 yen for four people—the level of service provided was unacceptable. Additionally, one staff member served food without fastening their sleeve buttons properly; their sleeves touched other dishes during serving which felt unhygienic. Overall, it left us with an extremely disappointing experience that felt worse than what you’d expect even at budget accommodations like guesthouses or inns!

    First-time stay at this accommodation

    I use Kintetsu shareholder discount tickets twice a year for Onsen trips. This was my first stay here, but I decided to try it as it was ranked in the top 3 on IKYU.com. For my elderly mother, I requested a wheelchair for moving around the facility, and there was even support equipment placed in the toilet of our room, which was incredibly helpful. This is the first Hotel I've stayed at with such thoughtful care. I'll visit again in spring!

    Satisfaction

    The location is excellent. It was a bit disappointing that the Room did not have an open-air bath. The bed was placed next to the table for in-room dining, so having a partition during meals would be nice.

    A large hotel that lives up to the charm of a traditional Onsen Ryokan. We enjoyed a special 30th-anniversary Kaiseki meal served in our room on the 8th floor. While admiring the stunning view of Ago Bay through the window, we indulged in high-quality cuisine. We are grateful to the young staff member who carried and served the heavy dishes for four people. The Onsen offers a pleasant experience with water that feels smooth and silky on your skin, resembling high pH Onsen water quality.

    - Dinner was generally delicious, but the portions of Matsusaka beef and Ise lobster felt small despite being highlighted. Breakfast had a wide variety of side dishes, which was satisfying, and I ate more than usual. - The outdoor bath was quiet with a great view, and since it was a weekday, there were few people, allowing for a relaxing experience. - As rooms with beds were fully booked, we reserved a Japanese-style room. It was an ordinary Japanese-style room.

    The futon is thin.

    It is an excellent hotel. I reserved a spacious Japanese-style room, but the futon was thin without a mattress, which made my body ache. I wonder if this is the standard for Japanese-style rooms. The lobster sashimi for dinner was very delicious. The breakfast buffet was very satisfying, which made the other aspects disappointing.

    It was excellent!

    We stayed here for a special occasion. The room was very clean, spacious, and had an amazing view. The highlight of our stay was the in-room dining. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the service was excellent, making us feel like we were experiencing something extraordinary! The Onsen was great as well; although it’s a short walk to the open-air bath, the beautiful starry sky made it truly wonderful. We would love to visit again. Thank you for giving us such wonderful memories!

    Disappointed with the food and service.

    I was looking forward to the [Hanami Kaiseki] plan, which included Ise lobster sashimi, Matsusaka beef, and live abalone grilled on a ceramic plate, but it fell far below my expectations. The appetizers were already set on the table before we sat down, and even after being seated, no one came to take our drink orders for a long time. We had to get water ourselves and call out to staff before anyone came to our table. The meal itself was disappointing: just one small piece of Ise lobster, a few slices of cold Matsusaka beef as roast beef, and tempura along with tekone sushi that we had to serve ourselves. If it was going to be buffet-style service, this should have been clearly stated in the plan description. Even for a buffet-style meal, I expected items like tempura or sushi would be prepared fresh upon order; however, the tempura available had been sitting out for some time after frying and the sushi consisted only of pre-prepared bowls with marinated bonito placed on top. The service was also poor—dishes were cleared away without asking while we were still eating them; conversely finished plates were left uncleared while new dishes arrived at an already cluttered table. We ended up having to clear plates ourselves just so there would be space. Due to the small portions provided in the course meal itself we ordered additional stone-grilled Matsusaka beef—but even this dish disappointed as its cooking stone wasn’t hot enough resulting in subpar doneness detracting from what should’ve been premium meat quality. Both food quality & customer service need significant improvement—it’s truly regrettable overall experience-wise. Additionally though perhaps understandable given age-related limitations within older facilities—the inability-to-adjust room air-conditioning temperature settings remains another negative point worth mentioning here too!

    The meals, baths, and hospitality are all excellent!

    Stayed for a multiple night stay from 9/5 to 9/6 to visit Ise Jingu Geku and Naiku. For meals, we chose the Matsusaka Beef Full Course on the first day and a course featuring Ise Lobster, Abalone, and Matsusaka Beef Shabu-shabu on the second day. On the first day, the sushi made with Matsusaka beef ichibo was exquisite—it was so delicious it left a lasting impression. The sukiyaki and diced steak that followed were also exceptional, truly showcasing the quality of Matsusaka beef. On the second day, although it wasn’t peak season for Ise lobster and they were smaller in size, their melt-in-your-mouth sweetness was delightful. The abalone with tomato cream sauce was also incredibly tasty. Breakfasts on both days featured different menus; while details are omitted here, they were very delicious as well. The quality of these meals might even surpass those offered by Hoshino Resorts or Kinugawa Asaya Hotel. Both breakfast and dinner were served in-room by attentive staff who provided excellent service with engaging conversation that put us at ease. They also took care of small details like not requiring futon removal in the morning. The onsen had a smooth texture to its waters, and from both the large public bath and open-air bath you could enjoy scenic views of Ago Bay’s pearl farming rafts—a picturesque sight. Although visiting Ise over two days under hot weather drained our energy, staying at Hojoen provided ample relaxation. This is an accommodation you will never regret choosing!

    The cuisine is perfect!

    An annual mother-daughter trip. We stayed on a special floor and chose the Matsusaka Beef Feast (in-room dining) for dinner. Everything was delicious, and we were extremely satisfied. The view from the room was great, and the room itself was very clean. Breakfast was also very luxurious, leaving us completely satisfied. The shuttle service from Kashikojima had more frequent buses compared to other accommodations, making it convenient, and the drivers were kind and helpful. This is the first accommodation that made me think, "I want to stay here again." Thank you very much!

    Scenic View of Kashikojima

    Eight years ago, I visited Kashikojima and was deeply moved by the scenic beauty of Ago Bay. I had always wanted to stay at Houshoen, and my wish finally came true. Prioritizing the onsen experience and tranquility, we requested in-room dining. Enjoying a wonderful meal while gazing at Ago Bay from our room became an unforgettable memory. The quality of the onsen water helped soothe our tired bodies. Although the garden open-air bath is located away from the main bathhouse, which caused slight inconvenience for my sister with knee issues, she mentioned that her knees felt better after soaking in the onsen for a while. The attentive care provided by the room attendant made our stay very comfortable. Thank you so much for your hospitality. As there are limited Western-style rooms available, we slept on futons, which felt slightly challenging for someone middle-aged like me.

However, there were two points regarding safety and hygiene that could not be overlooked. Firstly, there was a black stain resembling mold on the pillowcase, which raised concerns about the cleaning standards. Since bedding is directly used by guests, it should be prioritized for inspection and improvement in terms of hygiene management. Secondly, regarding the large public bath: although a sign at the entrance stated "Bathing is prohibited for individuals with tattoos," several people with tattoos were using it during peak hours. Despite this being observable at check-in and even when staff members were present near the bath entrance, no action was taken to enforce this rule. Such lack of enforcement not only contradicts posted rules but also poses risks of conflicts or serious issues among guests. In shared spaces like an onsen, ensuring safety and peace of mind is crucial as it significantly impacts trust in the facility as a whole. As your accommodation offers an attractive environment and services, we strongly urge improvements in hygiene management and strict adherence to bathing rules. Addressing these issues will make your facility a more secure place to stay with greater peace of mind for all guests.

    Stunning views, an open-air bath with a breathtaking outlook, skin-beautifying hot springs, and delicious meals—our entire family was completely satisfied. Although there is a bit of a walk to the open-air bath, it’s absolutely worth it. We enjoyed it three times!

    The Best Open-Air Bath

    Kashikojima, located in Ise-Shima National Park. At Houshoen, where all rooms are oceanfront, the open-air baths offer an unparalleled sense of relaxation. Enjoy a luxurious soak during the day while taking in breathtaking views of the blue sea and small islands right before your eyes—it feels like heaven. At night, as you bathe under the moonlight, you might even catch a shooting star crossing the sky. For dinner, indulge in a buffet where each guest is served one whole abalone! My wife was thoroughly satisfied. This was my second visit to Houshoen, and I can't wait to return again!

    Regarding Dinner Service

    I have used Housyouen many times before. The meals (Room service) are delicious and satisfying. However, this time during dinner, there was a moment when I had to wait nearly 10 minutes for the next dish after finishing the previous one, which was frustrating. This has never happened before, so it was disappointing.

    The Room's refrigera...

    The Room's refrigerator should at least have bottled water. There was a note saying to use the water from the sink, which was disappointing for what is supposed to be a first-class Hotel. It seems they only brought a chilled thermos of water when they came to prepare the bedding.

    A wonderful experience

    We stayed here for a family trip with our elderly grandparents. The facility was clean and well-maintained throughout. The room was thoroughly cleaned, allowing us to stay comfortably. During dinner, the staff provided detailed explanations, and the food was extremely delicious. The onsen had a silky texture and offered both hot and warm baths, so we could enjoy it at our preferred temperature. The bowling facility was well-equipped, allowing the younger group to have fun together. It’s a place we’d love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    The room on the top floor was great.

    The Room had a great view and was clean. The garden open-air bath is 50m from the large public bath, and I only went there once. To access the large public bath, you need to either walk up stairs from the entrance on the second floor to the third floor or, for wheelchair users, take an elevator near the entrance of the large public bath to reach the third floor and then walk quite a distance. The meals were disappointing as there was nothing particularly tasty, and breakfast felt like that of a Business Hotel.

    This was our first trip as a group of three—my mother, my older brother, and I—to visit Ise Jingu, and we chose to stay here. The building has a majestic and historical charm, and both the service and the food were very satisfying. The staff member who served us during dinner may not have been Japanese, but their Japanese was excellent, and their explanations of the dishes were clear and helpful. We enjoyed relaxing in the Onsen as well as the open-air baths. Although we couldn’t try all of the open-air baths this time, we’ll save that for our next visit. This trip became a memorable experience for us as it was our first journey together as three. Thank you very much!

    It was great after a long time.

    I had always wanted to visit Kashikojima, but it was difficult to make it happen despite being nearby. This time, thank you for allowing me to stay at Kashikojima Hojoen. The room was spacious with a great view, and the onsen was excellent. These days, there are many disappointing trips, but this time I returned home completely satisfied. I hope to visit again in the future, so please take care of me then as well.

    My son made a reservation to stay with his colleagues. Everything met expectations: excellent service, great room, beautiful view, relaxing onsen, and delicious food. His colleagues were delighted, saying, "The view and the accommodation were amazing," and "The tekone sushi and shrimp were delicious." This is an outstanding accommodation I can confidently recommend to anyone. Someday, I hope to stay in the special room on the 10th floor.
