    We were very satisfi...

    We were very satisfied last time, so we stayed again with three generations of our family. The meals were delicious, the renovated Room was clean with a great view, and we were able to relax in the Onsen and feel refreshed. All the staff were kind, and we also enjoyed bowling.

    Dinner

    The restaurant has a relaxed layout with plenty of space between tables, and the view is wonderful, so it was very comfortable to spend time there. On the other hand, I think satisfaction would be even higher if the meals were a bit more substantial. The appeal of dinner tempura is being able to enjoy as much freshly fried food as you like, but it felt lacking that there were only four items: shrimp, fish, corn, and one type of vegetable. Since it’s fried right in front of you, I would be happy if more seasonal vegetables were offered in summer as well—such as eggplant, pumpkin, and sweet potato. For breakfast too, I think having a few more protein-rich dishes would make it more satisfying. Also, the morning coffee tasted weak, so improving that would make it even better. The atmosphere and view at the restaurant are excellent; if the food selection were enhanced a little more, I believe it would become even more appealing.

    We thoroughly enjoyed the stunning views and the Onsen.

    The view from the Room was amazing. Sitting on the chaise lounge and watching the ocean, I was able to spend a relaxing time at my own pace. The open-air Onsen bath was also wonderfully relaxing, with a cool breeze passing through. For dinner, the abalone was still alive—fresh and delicious. Even though we traveled during extreme heat, we were able to stay comfortable and relaxed throughout our time at the Accommodation. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

    It was a truly memorable stay.

    I stayed on the Suikei floor, and not only were the views and the atmosphere of the Accommodation wonderful, but I was continually impressed by everything—from the quality of the meals to the attentive service from the staff.

    A Family Trip Enjoying Kashikojima’s Spectacular Views and Gourmet Cuisine

    We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay of three nights and chose the in-Room dining course for both breakfast and dinner. Since we have a small child, we really appreciated being able to enjoy our meals at a relaxed pace without worrying about those around us. We’ve stayed at various Accommodations with ocean views before, but this was the first time we’d ever seen such a beautifully intricate bay. The view was truly breathtaking, and we were able to fully experience the beauty of Kashikojima. The cuisine was even more lavish than expected, and we thoroughly enjoyed plenty of Ise lobster, Matsusaka beef, and abalone. Dinner on the third night was especially outstanding—the steamed Ise lobster in a bamboo steamer was so delicious it genuinely surprised us. The sushi featuring Ise lobster, conger eel, Ise tuna, and more was also excellent. Breakfast offered an impressive variety as well—so generous that we couldn’t finish it all (haha). The Onsen water felt as if it clung gently to the skin, and afterward my skin felt smooth and silky. Everything—the scenery, the food, and the Onsen—was wonderful, and we had an excellent stay. Thank you very much.

    It was a wonderful accommodation!

    I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay from July 12 to 13, 2026, on the Kayo Wing Superior Floor (6F). I think this is a Hotel with nothing to fault—Room, meals, Onsen, and staff were all excellent. The ocean view from the Room was outstanding. The meals weren’t overly extravagant, but everything was served (or selected) at its best—freshly prepared and freshly fried (Kami Kaiseki). Be careful not to overeat. The Onsen water quality was also superb—truly like a “beauty bath.” However, it was a bit disappointing that it closes at midnight (though morning bathing is available). On the first night at dinner, a female staff member kindly explained the sashimi and dishes (e.g., “this is sea bream,” “this is yellowtail”). On the second night, dinner was served by what seemed like an international trainee; I felt I couldn’t expect much in terms of detailed service. I often feel that some foreign staff members (depending on the person) don’t greet guests with a smile. That said, it was a wonderful Accommodation. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    A memorable trip before retirement

    Before my husband’s retirement, we planned a trip to Ise Shrine to recharge, and even extended our visit to Kashikojima to enjoy the spectacular view from Yokoyama Observatory. Unfortunately, due to a typhoon, rain clouds spoiled the scenery. We checked in early, and the staff kindly told us our Room was ready and invited us to relax. We were able to unwind right away in the Room and soothe ourselves in the Onsen. Dinner was served in our Room—since buffet-style meals have become more common lately, it had been a while since we last enjoyed an in-room meal. The variety of dishes was wonderful, everything was delicious, and we were truly satisfied. They also surprised my husband with a thoughtful gesture saying “thank you for your hard work,” which made us both very happy. Breakfast also offered an excellent selection from the morning; we left the Accommodation feeling full and refreshed at heart. To all the staff, you helped us create another wonderful memory—thank you very much.

    Satisfied.

    Although the weather was unfortunate due to Typhoons No. 7 and No. 8 approaching, we were very satisfied with the Room, bath, meals, and service. This is an Accommodation we would like to visit again when the weather is nice.

    Beautiful!

    We were extremely satisfied with this Accommodation. The moment we stepped into the Room, an ocean-blue view opened up right in front of us! The Room was even more spacious than we imagined—so wonderful that we were truly impressed. The staff member who assisted us was very kind, and the explanations were easy to understand. The meals featured fresh seafood, and we especially loved the Matsusaka beef grilled on a ceramic plate—it was delicious. The bath had a silky texture and made for a deeply relaxing time. This is a flawless Ryokan. Thank you very much for taking care of us during our stay. We would love to return again.

    An absolutely satisfying stay!

    We stayed in the Suikei Room to celebrate our anniversary. What impressed us first was the breathtaking view from the Room. The weather was perfect, and the moment we opened the sliding doors, the beautiful scenery of Ago Bay filled our view—we were both truly moved. Another highlight of this Room is that both dinner and breakfast are served in-room, so we could enjoy a relaxing, private time together. The food was delicious, and in particular, the Ise sea bream sashimi had an amazingly crisp texture—beyond springy—and was outstanding. Different attendants assisted us at dinner and breakfast, but both were incredibly kind—serving us extra-large portions of rice when they noticed how hungry we were, and taking photos for us as well. After dinner we also used the bowling facilities. Perhaps because of the time, we had it all to ourselves. When we struggled with the handwritten score sheet, a staff member kindly showed us how to fill it out, and they even cheered along with us for spares and strikes—it made for such a fun time. There is still so much more I could say, but overall it was an extremely satisfying stay at this Accommodation, and we would love to return again.

    We were completely satisfied with everything—the view, service, baths, and meals.

    My mother in her 90s was also very pleased. The view was breathtaking. The service was efficiently run in a good way, and we had a very comfortable stay. We also appreciated being able to relax in the Room after checkout (there was no crowding at checkout, which also felt efficient). We would like to return in a different season.

    This was my first time staying for two nights. Overall, I was satisfied, but the tempura at dinner on the second day was very greasy and felt too heavy after a tiring day. It was disappointing because the freshly fried dishes prepared in front of guests were crisp and delicious. It was also a shame that the menu was so similar.

    This Accommodation has everything you need.

    We stayed here during Golden Week. After the IKYU discount, the price was 63,210 yen for three people with one night and two meals included. It was very reasonably priced. Many places charge Golden Week rates that are about double the usual price, so we chose this Accommodation because it was fairly priced. The building is large and even has a game floor and a bowling alley. The food was delicious, and the Onsen water felt silky; the view from the open-air bath was wonderful, so we were able to relax and fully enjoy the Onsen.

    I had a pleasant stay from check-in to check-out.

    Check-in and check-out were smooth, making for a pleasant arrival and departure. The staff were all friendly and treated us with great care. The Room had a lovely view and was just the right size, allowing two of us to relax comfortably. The large public bath was very spacious and not crowded, so we could unwind, but it was a little disappointing that the bath in the Room was not an Onsen. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, made with high-quality ingredients carefully prepared. Even the tableware was designed to match the food, letting us enjoy it with four senses (taste, aroma, texture on the tongue, and visual presentation). Kashikojima is a bit far from home for us, but we would love to stay again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    Satisfied with everything

    The bath was spacious and very clean, and we were extremely satisfied. However, having to climb stairs to reach the women’s bath was a slight drawback. It may be difficult for elderly guests or those with mobility issues. Other than that, the view from the Room was excellent, the meals were very satisfying with abalone included, and the garden was perfect for a stroll—overall, we were extremely satisfied.

    With my elderly mother

    I stayed here with my sister and my elderly mother. We had a wonderful time enjoying the view of Ago Bay from the window of our Room on the 8th floor. Both dinner and breakfast were served in our Room. The dining table had chairs rather than floor chairs, so my mother, who has knee problems, could sit comfortably. The large public bath also had handrails at the entrance to the tub, allowing her to enter safely. All of the staff were friendly and attentive, making our stay very enjoyable. Thank you very much.

    It’s okay, I guess.

    A large, beautiful Hotel with views of Ago Bay. However, the food was underwhelming for the price. Even though it’s a seaside Hotel, I was hoping to enjoy delicious seafood sashimi!

    A relaxing and satisfying family getaway

    My sister and I stayed with our mother to celebrate her 60th birthday this month. This time, we requested in-room dining on the Suikei Floor. Our mother has back pain, so we had previously made a Reservation for a Room with restaurant dining, but we found a Room with a table and chairs and chose this one. Since it was just our family, we could enjoy the delicious food without worrying about time. The spiny lobster sashimi and abalone were excellent, but the sea bream rice with sauce was especially delicious—I ended up eating it even though I was already full. We ordered a cake in advance for the celebration, and they prepared it as part of a special celebratory meal, which made us very happy. The Japanese set breakfast was more elaborate than a buffet and much better. We had requested allergy accommodations, and they confirmed details even more carefully than we asked for, so we could enjoy our meals with peace of mind. The view from our 9th-floor Room was wonderful, and the food, baths, and service were all great. This is about our fifth stay here, and we were very satisfied.

    Stay at Hoshouen.

    We stayed here to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary. We also stayed here for our 40th and 44th anniversaries, and we feel this Accommodation offers a very high level of satisfaction. Next time, for our 48th or 50th anniversary, Hoseoen is also a possibility, but we will plan our trip together with the hope that we can travel there as a couple.

    A Relaxing Time

    We chose this Hotel for the cuisine, location, and price range, and arrived without much prior information about what it would be like. Staff were waiting for us at the entrance. We were surprised by the impressive interior as soon as we stepped inside. The Room was also clean, and the Onsen was wonderful. The meals were delicious as well—we even got freshly fried tempura. It was truly a very satisfying one-night stay. Playing an air hockey game with my family also became a great memory. Thank you very much.

    Ise Grand Shrine Visit

    This is my fifth stay in a row over the past five years. This time, I was able to stay in a newly renovated Room. As always, it’s an Accommodation with a charming atmosphere that hasn’t changed—in the best way. Also, at dinner, part of the menu was served as a set meal, and I really enjoyed the freshly fried tempura. The tekone-zushi came in portions so small they reminded me of wanko soba—“a little bit is just right” fit perfectly. It truly had a sense of live preparation. I always look forward to the baths—it’s become part of the fun for me. This time as well, I bought kuri-yose as a souvenir. Before checking out, while sitting in the scenic lobby, I found myself thinking that I need to keep pushing through another year so I can come back and enjoy this escape from everyday life again.

    First visit in a while

    Used the renovated room plan. The view from the room and the onsen remain popular as always. Services are mostly self-service, possibly due to cost-cutting measures. When we went for dinner early, it was roped off and we couldn't enter (laughs). That said, staff didn't seem particularly busy either; they appeared idle at times. The food quality was underwhelming—unexpectedly so. It used to feel like a mix of Western elegance and Japanese tradition, but now it feels like a shadow of its former self. While the traditional facilities and location are excellent, they aren't being utilized effectively at all. The room renovation only made it larger without any clear concept or theme behind it. With new management, this could become a great accommodation again someday... such a shame given its prime location!

    Enjoy Onsen with a stunning view of Ago Bay

    Although I was not familiar with Houshoen beforehand, from the shuttle service at Kashikojima Station to check-out, it was a satisfying stay. The view of Ago Bay from the room, the delicious meals featuring abalone, the soothing onsen with silky waters, and most impressively, the sunrise viewed from the garden open-air bath in the morning—it was so breathtaking that I found myself bowing in reverence. I would love to visit again.

    An accommodation I would like to stay at again.

    We stayed here for our family winter vacation. First, we were amazed by the stunning view from the large window in our room. The food was absolutely delicious! The plump texture of the Ise lobster, the melt-in-your-mouth sweetness of Matsusaka beef, and everything else on the menu were exceptional. We were also delighted that our elementary school-aged son's meal was almost identical to an adult's meal. He was very satisfied! The facilities inside the accommodation were well-equipped, and we enjoyed bowling and table tennis as a family! However, there were a few disappointments: Our family's favorite activity, karaoke, was temporarily closed on that day (perhaps it was mentioned on your website and we missed it). Also, after being informed that a staff member would greet us shortly in our room, they did not arrive for nearly an hour; this made us feel like we wasted some time waiting. Additionally, the open-air bath with its scenic view was much farther than expected; walking there in cold weather felt uncomfortable. We even saw some guests turning back halfway down the hallway because of how cold it was. Since it's such a wonderful Onsen with breathtaking views, perhaps adding more heating along the hallway would enhance guest comfort. Lastly—this is my son's request—he mentioned he would have loved to play table tennis or go bowling early in the morning before check-out. The scenery, room, food, and family-friendly facilities all made this accommodation truly outstanding. We definitely want to stay here again as a family!

    A Relaxing Hotel

    I have been staying here about twice a year during my visits to the shrine in recent years. The location of the Hotel overlooking Ago Bay is always stunning no matter when I visit. The road leading to the Hotel runs parallel to Kintetsu Railway, and spotting express trains along the way adds excitement to the journey. The staff at the Hotel provide excellent service. However, I did notice an increase in foreign staff members this time. For this stay, we stayed in a tatami-matted Japanese-style Room in the Kayou building, which was very calming for us as a couple in our late 60s. The bath facilities include a large public bath and an open-air bath with "Bijin-no-Yu" (beauty water) that has a smooth texture and offers great relaxation. Although we didn’t use the open-air bath this time, its view of the sea, aquaculture rafts, and boats is truly wonderful. Dinner was served at a dining area featuring local ingredients as its main focus; it was delicious with just the right portion size for us—very satisfying overall! Breakfast was buffet-style with plenty of variety; I enjoyed Japanese dishes while my wife opted for Western cuisine. We plan to visit again early next year and intend to continue staying here regularly beyond that as well!

    Thank you for arranging the coffee milk and adjusting the bus schedule.

    Since I cannot drink coffee creamer, I planned to buy milk and warm it in the microwave, but they kindly brought warm milk for everyone to our Room. Although the Ryokan is just a few minutes from the station, I mentioned that it might be a bit difficult for my family member over 80 years old to walk there. They adjusted the bus schedule for us, and as a result, we made it in time for the train. Thank you so much. Returning to daily life after such a trip makes these thoughtful gestures stand out even more in my memory. While AI and DX will likely continue transforming our employment environment in this country, I learned that considering others' perspectives and acting on them is what truly defines an established Ryokan as timeless.

    Breakfast could be better.

    We had a pleasant stay. The dinner, especially the spiny lobster and abalone, was delicious. However, it was a bit disappointing that breakfast did not match the quality or quantity of dinner (there weren’t many items we wanted to eat). It would have been nice to have something like freshly made rolled omelets. My wife mentioned she would like to visit again, so we’d be delighted if more handmade options could be added to breakfast.
