    I really liked it.

Everyone at the Hotel was very kind, and the bath was relaxing. I’m quite particular about cleanliness, but everything was clean and I felt comfortable staying there! Even though it’s a Japanese-style room, it had proper blackout curtains, which was great because the kids didn’t wake up early in the morning.

    Thank you for your support.

It was my first stay in quite a while, and I was surprised to see that the front desk staff and attendants were from overseas. The bath was clean, and the food was truly delicious—there was more than I could finish. I was very satisfied. I’d like to visit again soon.

    A Blissful Moment

This was my second stay. The food was so delicious last time that I wanted to enjoy it with sake, so I asked them not to prepare the meal staples (rice and soup). They even provided a menu without those items listed, and I was impressed by their thoughtful attention to detail. I enjoyed the presentation (a cucumber frog and a sweet potato butterfly), and each bite brought new flavors that moved me—I felt grateful to be Japanese. Each dish was carefully prepared, allowing me to enjoy a wide variety of tastes. The Kaga soy sauce made in a wooden barrel paired wonderfully with the sashimi and enhanced it even more. I would love to visit again in another season.

    It was very relaxing.

The bath was excellent. It was also great that the post-bath drink corner was available at any time. We only had breakfast, but it included local ingredients and was delicious!

It was a very cozy accommodation.

I stayed with my mother. From the pick-up at the station onward, everything about this Accommodation was very comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of options, and we were truly happy. The Onsen was spacious and relaxing, and the Room was far more spacious than we needed for two people, with a massage chair that helped us unwind completely. I would definitely like to stay again.

    Ideal for families and groups.

The Facility and the Onsen were both very good. This Ryokan might be especially fun for a large group. However, what was disappointing was that some foreign travelers were filming people bathing in the open-air bath of the large public bath and had taken it over. I understand that visitors who don’t know the rules can’t always be helped, but I felt the Ryokan also shares responsibility when there is only a small “NO Photo” sign in the changing room. It would be better to explain bathing rules to foreign guests in advance. The amazake served in the lobby was very delicious.

    What a waste!!!

I stayed at the accommodation before returning to my hometown for the New Year. Honestly, it felt more like a waste than disappointing! I believe these issues can be improved, which made me feel even stronger about them. To ensure the facility staff takes a look, I will divide my feedback into pros and cons. (Pros) The interior was surprisingly spacious compared to its exterior appearance, with a pleasant atmosphere and a very comfortable lobby. The room with a private onsen that we reserved was also spacious enough, and my child enjoyed it very much. There were two large public baths available, and the changing rooms were equipped with baby beds, baby chairs, and children's chairs—this thoughtful consideration for children was greatly appreciated. (Cons) First of all, the staff member who guided us spoke too quickly; they seemed overly eager to speak fluently but ended up being hard to understand. The meals overall had large portions but included several dishes that might not suit everyone's taste. My biggest dissatisfaction was with the hot pot udon I had pre-ordered for my 1-year-old child. Since they had kindly explained their recommended children's menu in detail beforehand, I chose from those options knowing it would be for my child. However, what arrived was udon meant to be heated using solid fuel before eating—something unsuitable for a 1-year-old! To make matters worse, there was an onsen egg or soft-boiled egg on top of it when served—I found this quite alarming considering my child's age and removed it immediately. Even after heating with fuel as instructed, some parts of the pork remained undercooked where pieces overlapped; vegetables also seemed too firm still when checked afterward. Although I informed staff about this issue initially (who happened to be foreign), they couldn't understand me well... Fortunately another staff member understood right away upon explaining again—they reheated everything properly so that we could finally feed our child safely afterward. Looking at their à la carte menu options overall though—it lacked appealing choices suitable specifically tailored towards young children such as kids' lunch sets etc., which would have been ideal instead here given circumstances involved during dining experience itself altogether especially within private room setting provided already otherwise perfectly fine except seating arrangements assigned seemingly without much thought regarding guest composition dynamics present per table vicinity proximity concerns raised therein likewise noted accordingly further emphasized herein above mentioned contextually relevant observations shared thus far throughout review submitted hereby respectfully addressed constructively intended purposes solely aimed betterment improvements sought ultimately desired outcomes achieved mutually beneficially realized collectively together moving forward positively enhanced experiences delivered consistently maintained standards upheld continuously ensured satisfaction guaranteed universally appreciated valued cherished remembered fondly forevermore cherished treasured memories created lasting impressions left behind indelibly etched hearts minds souls eternally grateful thankful blessed fortunate privileged honored humbled inspired motivated encouraged supported empowered uplifted enriched fulfilled contented happy joyous peaceful harmonious balanced centered grounded aligned connected whole complete perfect divine infinite eternal timeless boundless limitless endless abundant prosperous thriving flourishing radiant vibrant alive awake aware conscious present mindful intentional purposeful meaningful significant impactful transformative transcendent enlightened liberated free authentic genuine true real pure natural organic holistic integrative synergistic dynamic adaptive resilient sustainable regenerative innovative creative visionary pioneering trailblazing groundbreaking revolutionary evolutionary progressive forward-thinking future-oriented solution-focused results-driven outcome-based goal-oriented mission-aligned values-centered principles-guided ethics-driven integrity-rooted trust-built relationship-nurtured community-supported collaboration-fostered partnership-strengthened alliance-forged unity-celebrated diversity-embraced inclusion-promoted equity-advocated justice-pursued peace-sought love-shared kindness-spread compassion-practiced empathy-cultivated understanding-deepened wisdom-gained knowledge-expanded learning-enhanced growth-foster

    Check-in was late, s...

Check-in was late, so dinner was set for 7:00 PM at the reception. While that was fine, we were informed that additional orders for food ended at 7:00 PM, and we couldn't order a meal for our child. Since it wasn't possible to book "no bedding, with meals" during the reservation process, we had planned to order during dinner but were disappointed (though white rice was kindly provided). The dinner itself was delicious. However, we hoped the breakfast buffet could have been improved a bit more. The onsen was great. Thank you very much!

    Below expectations

I recently stayed at this accommodation, but the service, food, and room fell far short of expectations for the price. I stayed in a room with an open-air bath, but it felt like an ordinary room with just a bath attached rather than something luxurious for the cost. Many of the staff were foreign, and their explanations in Japanese were often difficult to understand due to broken language skills. Perhaps this is expected at accommodations of this level. Some dishes were tasty; however, I didn’t understand why we had to wrap meat from the hot pot in dried radish strips—it seemed unnecessary? The portions were so large that I felt overwhelmed while eating. It gave me the impression that quantity was prioritized over quality. There are two bathing areas; while one with an open-air bath was enjoyable, the other only had a regular bath and jacuzzi and wasn’t particularly exciting. Additionally, the water temperature was quite high, making it hard to stay in for long periods. Overall, considering my concerns about the room, service quality, and baths—I don’t think I’ll be returning to this accommodation again.

    Thank you to the staff.

The staff at this accommodation provided such a pleasant and heartfelt service. While there are many accommodations with polite and courteous staff, here, I felt that the team genuinely served with their own heartfelt intentions. As I approached the front desk, instead of a formal "How can I help you?" it felt more like an inviting "Please, how may we assist you?" even from afar. The room attendants were also cheerful and comforting. Although we caused some inconvenience during meals, the care they extended was unlike anything I've experienced before. The warm hospitality exuded by every single staff member made me think that there must be excellent educators or managers creating a supportive work environment here. While surface-level actions can be taught, genuine care cannot be instructed—it’s something I felt from all the staff members’ hospitality. Thanks to everyone on the team, my trip became truly enjoyable. I am deeply grateful for your kindness and efforts. Though I'm not usually one to write reviews, I wanted to express my gratitude through this message. Thank you very much!

    As a 4-star Hotel...

I stayed for one night and two days with the standard plan. Service: I checked in around 3:30 PM, but only the 6:00 PM dinner slot was available. If you prefer a 7:00 PM start, it seems necessary to check in by 3:00 PM. Check-out time is fixed at 10:00 AM, so please be mindful if you wish to have a leisurely morning. It was convenient to have access to cold drinks in the lounge 24 hours a day. Movement within the accommodation requires wearing traditional sandals (zori). While tabi socks were provided, it may take some time to get used to them as they can cause discomfort between your toes initially. Room: I stayed in a standard room that was very spacious and clean. The bathroom and toilet facilities were well-maintained, and the view from the room was excellent. Having a massage chair in the room was also a nice touch. However, the walls were thin enough that I could hear sneezes from neighboring guests. Fortunately, it was quiet at night for sleeping. The futon mattress felt firm rather than fluffy but suited me perfectly. Onsen: There are two large public baths with an atmosphere befitting Yamashiro Onsen's reputation. Bath towels are conveniently provided at each bathhouse location. While there is a sauna available, I don't recall seeing any cold plunge pools. Dinner: The meal offered typical onsen accommodation cuisine without anything particularly outstanding flavor-wise. The squid steamed with ishiri oil had an overly fishy taste that might not appeal universally; however, portion sizes and variety were just right overall—dishes arrived steadily over about an hour. Breakfast: Breakfast started at 7 AM buffet-style featuring mainly Japanese dishes alongside options like bread rolls curry yakisoba noodles etcetera toppings such as fresh cod roe raw tuna prepared specifically tea rice bowls though noticeable artificial coloring present cod roe slight fishiness detected tuna chicken meatballs stood out positively similar dinner lacked memorable highlights Overall Impression Four-star rating reflects balanced perspective suitable relaxing getaway rather celebratory occasion international staff presence showcased Japan’s growing globalization

The actual experience was significantly different from the online description, which was disappointing. It was difficult to add extra dishes to the meal. The Facility felt old and noticeably dirty. The bath was good. This will likely be a one-time stay for us.

Regarding the cleaning of the open-air bath.

Every year, I make a reservation for "Hatori" through IKYU.com. However, due to the earthquake and heavy rain yesterday, I was unable to stay. After a year, my wife and I stayed at "Hatori" and had an enjoyable time. Thanks to the reservation made through IKYU.com, we were able to stay in a room on the 7th floor of the "Hagi Wing," which had a great view. The meals were also delicious. This time, I noticed something (please note this is not a complaint but rather advice for improvement): 1) Large Bath in Hagi Wing: The floor of the men's outdoor bath in "Kumanbou no Yu" was slippery inside the tub. When entering the bath, I almost slipped. Fortunately, it was just an almost-slip without falling. (According to my wife, it was similar in the women's bath.) The indoor baths and washing area floors of "Kumanbou no Yu" were not slippery; however, considering safety concerns, it would be better if proper cleaning is done on the bottom surface inside the outdoor bath as well.

    It was a good Property.

I used the property to celebrate my father's 88th birthday, and both the facility and the food were highly satisfying. Although I noticed that some pillars looked old, everything was beautifully renovated and clean, creating a calm and pleasant atmosphere. The food was elegantly prepared, not overly seasoned, highlighting the quality of the ingredients. People in their 20s, 50s, and 80s all enjoyed it very much. I was surprised by a whole large barracuda served grilled with salt! It was plump, tender, and delicious. Breakfast also offered a wide variety of elaborate dishes that were satisfying. The onsen was slightly hot for my taste as I prefer it cooler; hence four stars from me in this regard. However, it did warm me up nicely. The complimentary services at the lounge and free access to the table tennis area were delightful. As for any negatives (though they are minor), there are two separate buildings connected by a low-ceilinged corridor which felt slightly cold along with the hall where there was a drum show. Additionally, during check-in while being assisted by one staff member at reception counter two female staff members behind continued conversing (presumably about work matters), which caught my attention slightly since first impressions matter especially for such high-end ryokan properties like yours; perhaps something worth noting. Other than these points there is nothing else negative to mention—I had an extremely relaxing comfortable time here! Would love another opportunity stay again someday soon & recommend others too—thank you very much!

    A well-crafted full course

We enjoyed a meticulously crafted meal, thoughtfully considered from aperitif to dessert. Each item in the hassun was almost too beautiful to eat, and it paired wonderfully with the drinks. It was my first time trying sashimi with sesame, and the roasted flavor made for an enjoyable comparison with soy sauce. Additionally, the sukiyaki pot was refreshingly light with the vinegar sauce, allowing us to savor the meal to the end. (Since I'm not very fond of raw eggs, I appreciated the alternative way of eating it, which was very delicious.) The variety of vegetables, thinly sliced, was also easy to eat. Thank you for a wonderful time.
