    It was a good Property.

    The onsen's indoor bath is 38 degrees, allowing for a long soak. The open-air bath is 40 degrees, also suitable for extended soaking. Regarding meals, dinner was very delicious. Breakfast wasn't bad either. The staff seemed very busy during meal times. We stayed in a room for four people, which felt slightly cramped. Overall, it was a highly satisfying property.

    I stayed for one nig...

    I stayed for one night on a weekday. Since there was snow, they called me in advance, which was good. However, when my car arrived at the entrance, there was no one to greet me, and I wasn’t sure where to park. Inside the building, it was extremely cold, and I could only manage to sleep with the Room heater on full blast. The bath was also disappointing, with the indoor bath being lukewarm and the outdoor bath being too hot, making it hard to relax. The food was delicious no matter what I ate, but it was so cold throughout the meal that my toes were freezing. The portion sizes were not enough to feel full. I’ve traveled to many places before, but this was the worst experience. I wouldn’t recommend it to others! Still, if you’re curious, you can give it a try. There won’t be a second time for me.

    A comfortable space

    The snowy scenery of Oku-Nikko is beautiful. Although I can't drive, I used the Shuttle Service from the station for the trip there. Check-in and check-out are both done via smartphone. The free drink corner in the lobby, including alcoholic options, had a wide variety and was enjoyable. The Room felt a bit old, but it was spacious, and I was happy to find a kotatsu. The sulfur bath was very gentle on the skin and felt wonderful. Drinks for meals are ordered via smartphone. I found it reasonably priced. For dinner, local yuba was served. This was my first solo trip with an overnight stay, but there were a few other solo travelers, so it felt comfortable. I would love to use this place again.

    Shuttle Service is appreciated.

    I have been a repeat visitor since Shikisai was newly opened. The meals are not the best, but the Onsen offers a great view of the lake and is very relaxing... although the washing area is quite cold. The drink service is nice, and above all, the Shuttle Service is truly helpful. I think I will visit again.

    Used for the first time in six months.

    Visited again in early summer because the onsen was wonderful, but this time was a bit disappointing. ○ Shuttle Service Since the reservation was made a week in advance, the shuttle service from Nikko Station was full and declined. Please be aware that it is shared with a nearby affiliated hotel. I took the Tobu bus, but the road from the bus stop to the property is uphill and still had snow. I would appreciate at least a shuttle service from the property to the bus stop. On the way back, the shuttle to Nikko Station was also full, so when I asked if they could at least take me to the bus stop, I was told there are departures at 9:15 and 10:15. Since the bus was at 9:46 and 10:46, I asked if I would have to wait in the cold for 30 minutes, and was told, "It's a 5-minute walk, so it won't take that long." Going down the icy slope is quite scary, especially since I'm not from a snowy region. Also, when I asked where the 9:15 and 10:15 buses were headed, I was told "Chuzenji Onsen Bus Terminal." If that's the case, it would have been nice if they had informed me from the start since I wanted to go to Nikko Station. I was disappointed by the lack of suggestions and the lack of hospitality not mentioned in the hotel's shuttle service guide. ○ Service Despite arriving early at check-in, they responded flexibly, which was very much appreciated. Check-in and check-out are done via tablet. ○ Guest Room When you close the door, there is a note saying "Please lock the door when going out," but it is auto-lock. Also, there is no internal lock when entering, which is confusing. An explanation might be helpful. I also woke up several times due to back pain... The futon is too thin. I was surprised that my back still hurt in the morning. ○ Dining Rice and miso soup were served with the teppanyaki, but the hot dishes took a while to arrive, so the miso soup and rice got cold. The phrasing "Shall I bring the rice with the meat?" is also questionable... The location is good, but...

    The room was equippe...

    The room was equipped with a sunken kotatsu, and the snowy view from the room was nice. However, it was disappointing that the futon was thin. The bath was a sulfur Onsen, warm and smooth, which was nice. However, the changing room and bathroom were cold, making me worried about heat shock.

    I visited just before Christmas. The view from the Room was wonderful, and I was able to enjoy both the sunny and snowy Oku-Nikko.

    The bath, scenery, and atmosphere were great!

    I was able to relax and take it easy. The quality of the Onsen was also good. However, the hallway, dining area, and lobby were so cold that I wondered what was going on... I managed to maintain the Room temperature by raising the air conditioner's setting, but it was too cold... Also, when the shelf for the room's slippers opens, the door falls off, so I would like to request repairs. Overall, it was good, but I hope the coldness can be improved.

    Dissatisfaction remains.

    This was my first stay. I arrived by car, but upon reaching the hotel, there was no special welcome, and I parked in a suitable spot and carried my luggage to the front desk. This was a bit confusing as it's not common elsewhere. The room had a nice view, was clean, and I was mostly satisfied. The onsen was very good, with a pleasant sulfur scent and milky white water. The temperature varied from slightly hot to normal and lukewarm, allowing for different experiences. The meal was good in content, but I have complaints. The dishes were not served in order, with the main dish coming out first, and I was asked about rice before the sashimi and steamed dishes were served. Since I was drinking, I asked to have it later, but no matter how long I waited, the two dishes didn't come out. When I asked the staff, they were all foreigners and seemed not to understand what was being said. In the end, another foreign staff member came to ask about the missing dishes about three times before they finally brought them out. By then, the main meat dish was cold and hard, and I had to eat it with rice. I wondered if there was a head chef, and there were no words from the hotel staff the next day. It was very disappointing. There was no elevator in the building, and going to the bath required going up and down stairs, which might be inconvenient for those with mobility issues. If asked if I would use it again, I would say only for a day trip, and I wouldn't stay overnight again.

    I used it with my mother and daughter. I was a little worried because it was so cheap, but it exceeded my expectations in a good way. Located right in front of the lake, surrounded by birch trees, it was a lovely place. Although it was self-service, we enjoyed hot wine and sparkling wine in the lounge, and my daughter had juice, and we checked in. The room was very spacious with a kotatsu, allowing us to relax. The meal was a light course, so the taste matched the price, but the portion for children was almost the same as for adults, and we enjoyed it leisurely in the restaurant. The Onsen was full of the scent of sulfur, and it seemed very good for the skin. We enjoyed it three times during our stay. What impressed me the most was the shuttle bus. The driver was a woman, and when my daughter got car sick on the winding Iroha-zaka, she bought medicine at the station and handed it to us with a smile. She naturally communicated in English with overseas guests and assisted elderly people with disabilities in getting on and off, always handling large luggage with a smile. I thought she was a wonderful person. Thank you very much. I will definitely bring the men next time. Please take care of us then.

    Cold

    I stayed in December, and the lobby was cold! There was a wood stove and an oil stove, but the wood stove was not lit until a certain time. I thought there were too few oil stoves for such a large lobby. It seemed like a waste of the lobby space with free drinks. There is a dining room connected to the lobby on the first floor, and there is a stove there too, but overall, I think the temperature is low. Also, the temperature of the women's open-air bath seemed low, and there seemed to be few women using the outdoor bath. Other than that, there were no issues with the quality of the hot spring, the location of the bath, the Room, or the meal content.

    A Trip to Nikko

    I live overseas and returned to Japan for the first time in six years, choosing Nikko as a tourist destination that offers onsen, historical sites, and nature. Since Oku-Nikko Hotel Shikisai is a hotel located by Lake Chuzenji, it was difficult to get around without a car. I made a reservation for three nights with meals included, and although the kaiseki meals were delicious every day, I wished there were more varied options. The hotel staff were all very kind.

    I used the property to celebrate my mother's occasion. It is a hotel that is mechanized and labor-saving in various ways. I think it is modern, but preferences may vary. First, the good point is that there is a free drink lounge, and although there are few varieties, alcohol is all-you-can-drink until 7 p.m. I enjoyed a few drinks before dinner after entering the onsen and had a pleasant dinner. The onsen in the large public bath has good water quality, not too hot for children, and I could enjoy the scenery slowly. The disappointing part was that I chose a room with an open-air bath, but the bath was not filled with water, and I had to start by washing and filling it. I was disappointed because I wanted to enter immediately due to fatigue. It was also disappointing that it was not an onsen. At dinner, there were not enough staff, so the staff was constantly busy, and the lack of composure was conveyed to us, making it impossible to have a relaxed meal. If it were a little cheaper, I would have been satisfied, but I felt that the price and service did not match. However, all the staff were responsive, so I think it is basically a good stay.

    Second stay

    Last time, I visited in early winter, and this time I brought my parents in late autumn. The food is delicious, but I felt that cheaper ingredients were used considering the accommodation cost. In winter, the leaves fall from the trees, allowing a view of Lake Chuzenji from the open-air bath and guest rooms, but this time the leaves were still on the trees, so the view was obstructed. The milky onsen has two open-air baths, one slightly hot and the other warm. The minerals make your skin smooth, but it can be drying, so bringing body cream is recommended. The guest rooms are equipped with high-end facial humidifiers. The onsen was at a comfortable temperature after check-in, but when I entered before bed, it was lukewarm and I almost caught a cold. In the morning, it was warm again. There is a fireplace at the front desk, and it is lit in time for dinner. The complimentary drink corner is well-stocked, allowing you to relax while watching the fire. The room had a kotatsu, but with futons, it seemed that beds would be better for pre-elderly people like my parents. Many of the staff are foreigners, but they provided courteous service in fluent Japanese. The property was quiet, with only a few foreign guests. On the IKYU site, the reservation screen did not become available until quite close to the stay date, so I felt it should be open a bit earlier.

    I was disappointed.

    First of all, let me clarify that when evaluating a place to stay, I believe that if I am satisfied with even one aspect such as the room, facility, meals, service, or onsen if available, then it is acceptable, and I do not make complaints lightly. However, I am compelled to post this time. Firstly, the explanation about the facility at the reception was so minimal that I had to ask various questions myself (such as whether towels are available in the large public bath, where the vending machines are, etc.). I later realized that this place uses a smart check-in/out system like those in business hotels, and you can obtain information about the facility from the QR code on the paper handed at the reception counter. However, there was no mention of this system at the reception, which I found very unsatisfactory. In the room, I was surprised to find a hair that was clearly not mine on the notice paper on the table. I will omit the details, but the room itself was not satisfactory either. Even though I entered the large public bath right after the cleaning time, I was disappointed to find trash left on the shelf of the undressing basket. Additionally, the meals were very poor. This was a trip I decided on suddenly, trusting IKYU.com for the reservation, which makes it all the more disappointing.

    Couple's trip

    I used this place for the first time looking forward to the hot springs. The hot springs were good. The facilities and room were clean. I was a little dissatisfied with the customer service. The rice at breakfast was already served and prepared, so it was cold.

    The price does not match the Room.

    I stayed for 59,000, but the price did not match the facility, which was very disappointing. I travel to various places, but this was personally my worst experience in recent years. However, I thought the hotel staff's service was top-notch. That said, regarding the food, room, and the bathroom in the room (it felt like being in an apartment; water leaked from the faucet and when trying to fill up the bath with hot water, my clothes got soaked!), I hope room maintenance can be improved significantly.
