    Onsen Trip!!

    Soaking in the Onsen in the hinoki bath left my skin feeling beautifully refreshed. I also enjoyed the meals.

    Excellent cuisine and free-flowing Onsen

    True to its claim of being an “auberge,” this Accommodation’s cuisine was genuinely outstanding. The presentation, tableware, and seasoning—everything was superb, and I’d rate the food among the very best of anywhere we’ve stayed. We were told even the small details, like dressings and ponzu sauce, are handmade, and you could feel the care put into every single dish. Each piece of tableware had its own character as well, making it a feast for the eyes. The dining area features calm table seating that feels like semi-private rooms. Each course was explained carefully, and my husband and I were so impressed we lost count of how many times we said “delicious” and “amazing.” The portions were more than enough—we were both completely full. We also ordered the recommended extra horse sashimi, which was excellent. Breakfast is Japanese-style as well—beautifully arranged like a kaiseki set—and we were very satisfied with everything from a salad made with fresh local vegetables to drinkable yogurt and even after-meal coffee. My husband was especially impressed by how good the rice was, while I really enjoyed the rice porridge. The Onsen is true free-flowing natural spring water; every time we entered the bath, hot water overflowed generously from the tub—a luxury we enjoyed again and again. The two private baths are also spacious and felt wonderful. You can sense some age in the building and Facility features, but everything is well maintained and spotlessly clean throughout. That said, the air conditioner is an older model and difficult to adjust; in particular, it was hard to control airflow in the upstairs bedroom of our maisonette room type, which was a bit disappointing. Also, for greater peace of mind regarding hygiene, it would be reassuring if the in-room fabric slippers were either disposable or came with clearly indicated sanitation management. All staff members were courteous; their explanations—even for delicate details about each dish—were easy to understand, and we never felt any stress in communication. There were a few minor Facility-related points that stood out, but they were more than outweighed by our satisfaction with the cuisine, Onsen experience, and service. The food especially left such a strong impression that my husband and I still talk about how truly delicious it was. It was late summer then with lively cicada songs still filling the air—but we would love to return to enjoy seasonal dishes at another time of year as well.

    Both the Onsen and the meals were just right, and the service was attentive while maintaining a comfortable sense of distance. In particular, they accommodated extra servings and even late-night snacks. However, it was disappointing that some areas were not thoroughly cleaned.

    The owner and all the staff provide truly wonderful hospitality!

    Many of the staff are locals and have extensive knowledge about nearby facilities and the ingredients used in the cuisine, and they shared a lot with us. Of course, the Onsen was also wonderful, with fresh-flowing water. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us.

    The Accommodation lived up to its great reputation.

    Unfortunately, it rained, but we thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen and the cuisine. The Room was more than spacious enough for two people. In the end, we didn’t use the Japanese-style room and were able to relax in the living room and bedroom. The meals were described as a Japanese menu, but they were creatively prepared in many ways and were delicious. The proprietress’s hospitality was wonderful, and her information about Miharu cherry blossoms in spring was invaluable. This is an Accommodation we would definitely like to visit again in another season.

    A Room That Feels Like a Private Villa

    I visited with a friend to celebrate a birthday. The Accommodation is located about a 5-minute taxi ride from Bandai-Atami Station, further out from Koriyama. Trains run only once an hour. Access isn’t great, to be honest—but in the end, we were very satisfied. We stayed in the Room with the largest living area. The design is open and minimalist, and it felt spacious even for two men. The appliances are generally on the older side, but we didn’t use them much, so it wasn’t an issue. On the plus side, having a water dispenser was great. The tatami room has outlets on opposite sides and is large enough to lay out two or three futons. Since the living-room table is low, this space was better for getting work done. It was also convenient that the toilet was close to the bedroom. And of course, the bed was extremely comfortable. The in-room hinoki bath had a large tub and felt more than adequate. We were also able to use the private bath fairly freely. Because it’s a detached unit, it’s very quiet—you can truly relax and enjoy your time. One major reason we chose this Accommodation was for the meals, and it absolutely met our expectations. Portions are average in size, but everything was delicious—I ended up having multiple bowls of rice. Dinner felt Western-inspired, while breakfast felt like tea-kaiseki style (Japanese). For reference only. We also really appreciated that they prepared a surprise celebration plate. If I had to mention downsides: there aren’t many sightseeing spots nearby; bears may appear in the area; and there is no Shuttle Service (taxi fares are at guests’ expense). Overall, though, it was a highly satisfying stay—and IKYU Diamond member benefits were plentiful and genuinely useful—so if you’re traveling in Fukushima, I’d strongly recommend stopping by.

    Thank you very much.

    Our family of five stayed here. As this was a trip with our grandchildren visiting from overseas, we were concerned about language differences, but there was no need to worry at all and everyone was very satisfied. The hospitality was wonderful. The Onsen was excellent, and even more so, the meals were outstanding—we were delighted to see our overseas family quietly enjoying every bite, which reminded us once again of the depth and excellence of Japanese cuisine. On our way out we left some belongings behind and caused trouble for the Accommodation staff, but everything was resolved and we are truly grateful. Our grandchildren also said, “Thank you very much.”

    A villa-style accommodation

    My wife and I stayed this time, and it was very relaxing. We enjoyed the meals and had a wonderful time discovering some rare local sake. We were also very satisfied with the thoughtful care from the staff. Next time, we would like to consider staying as a group in one of the detached Accommodations. Thank you to all the staff.

    Breakfast-Only Plan

    I visited during the season of fresh greenery. The Celadon Room was more spacious, cleaner, and much quieter than it looked in the photos. Although there were winds strong enough to trigger a warning that day, it was quiet inside the Room and I was able to relax at ease. The in-Room bath is continuously fed with fresh Onsen water, so you can enjoy it anytime. I also appreciated the gentle water quality that felt easy on the body. Breakfast was an outstanding Japanese set meal. Not only the rice and miso soup, but every single small side dish was exceptionally delicious. It was a meal that made me think, “I want to eat this again!” On departure, I also had a chance to speak with the proprietress, which made for a lovely ending to my stay. Thank you for your thoughtful hospitality. The only disappointment was that I couldn’t watch streaming videos on the TV, so I deducted one star. I would love to visit again in a different season and try another Room.

    The property consists of seven quiet, relaxing buildings, and we were able to use the private open-air bath almost anytime. All the staff were kind and friendly. Dinner was creative and delicious, perfectly suited to my taste—I’d come back just for the meals. For breakfast, in addition to miso soup, they served a local specialty called kasujiru, and I had seconds. When I mentioned that I planned to visit a museum after check-out, the proprietress kindly wrote down detailed train and bus schedules for me on paper, which was extremely helpful. I’d like to return during the autumn foliage season. Thank you very much.

    I was truly impressed by the meals.

    The meals were so good that five stars aren’t enough. Everything was delicious—seasoning, presentation, all of it was outstanding. Thank you, Chef. The Room was also spotless, and both the private open-air bath and the in-room Onsen were incredibly relaxing. The proprietress and all the staff were kind and genuinely pleasant. I truly enjoyed being able to talk with everyone. Next time, I’ll book a Multiple Night Stay.

    A wonderful accommodation.

    Unlike a large Hotel, I was delighted by the peaceful atmosphere and your attentive hospitality. At large Hotels, meals often include many dishes—such as hot pot—that guests have to prepare themselves, which I find disappointing. However, at Suzukane, I truly enjoyed not only the quality of the ingredients but also the carefully prepared cuisine. Thank you all very much.

    Heartwarming kaiseki cuisine and heartfelt hospitality

    While deciding between Yunokami Onsen and Bandai-Atami Onsen, I chose Bandai-Atami with the thought of “somewhere I’ve never been before,” and stayed at Suzukane. Because I had made my Reservation well in advance, I never imagined it would coincide with Miharu’s cherry blossoms in full bloom. I was able to enjoy Takizakura, Jizo-zakura, and Miharashi Hill—“three springs” all at once—making it an unforgettable trip. I’ve generally preferred food-focused Ryokan over auberges, so to be honest I was a bit skeptical of the reputation for “excellent cuisine.” In reality, it far exceeded my expectations—a delightful surprise. The choice of tableware is beautiful as well, making the dishes a feast for the eyes. Dinner featured thoughtful touches throughout, such as sashimi prepared in a Western-style kombu-jime and bamboo shoot rice with sakura shrimp, which left a strong impression. Breakfast also showed careful craftsmanship in every item; you could truly feel the proprietress’s wish to serve “food that’s good for the body,” resulting in deeply nourishing flavors. I was also moved by the warm, family-like hospitality from the proprietress and all staff members. With only a few guest rooms, the Accommodation is very quiet and relaxing, and we felt comfortable staying even with my elderly parents. The baths are private open-air baths only, but they are more spacious than you might expect from typical private baths. The water quality was wonderfully soothing—worthy of its nickname “beauty bath”—and I enjoyed it four times during our stay. My parents loved it as well, making this a highly satisfying family trip.

    Always amazing, no matter when you visit.

    I’m a repeat guest and have been staying here twice a year recently. I’ve stayed at various hotels when traveling to the Fukushima area, but since discovering this Hotel, it has become my only choice. The Onsen, the quality of the food, and the hospitality from the proprietress and all staff are all outstanding. Next time, I plan to visit in autumn with my children and grandchildren.

    We had the best night.

    I stayed here with my mother on a two-person trip. True to its name as an auberge, the food was outstanding, but what impressed me most was the exceptional quality of the hot spring water. The clear, colorless, silky-smooth water felt wonderful on the skin, and together with the attentive service from the staff, I was able to relax completely. Luckily there were no other guests during our stay, so we were able to enjoy everything in complete privacy—even the sauna. It was pure bliss. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet getaway. I’d love to return in a different season.

    What’s wonderful about this Accommodation - The hospitality and service from the proprietress and all staff (for example, they even clear snow from the entrance and outdoor walkways for guests starting as early as 5 a.m.—truly admirable). - Breakfast and dinner that are outstanding in both presentation and taste, with the care of the makers shining through. The tableware is lovely too! - The in-Room Onsen with an incredible volume of continuously flowing water. Perhaps because we visited in winter, we only noticed that the toilet and washbasin area felt a bit cold, and that the water droplets falling from the bathroom ceiling were chilly. Other than that, the Room was spacious and spotless, with a mini-kitchen and even a water dispenser. With underfloor heating and a fireplace, it’s very comfortable. The amenities were thoughtfully selected down to the smallest details—something especially appreciated by women. If you want to enjoy high-quality Onsen water and delicious meals while relaxing quietly in your Room, I highly recommend this place! The garden is also large, so if you visit in another season—spring, fresh greenery season, or summer—it will feel completely different and you’ll be able to spend another wonderful time. We also heard that Japanese serow sometimes come to visit the garden, so if you’re lucky you might get to see one! Thank you very much for taking such great care of us for three days!     We stayed at the accommodation with an infant. The room was equipped with a deodorizing diaper disposal bin and a bath chair. During meals, the staff provided thoughtful assistance, allowing us to enjoy delicious food at a relaxed pace. They even printed our grandchild's face on the beer, creating a wonderful memory.     Equipped with floor heating for a comfortable stay.

    Stayed in the renovated suite "Silk" with a family of five, including a 3-month-old baby, and had an overall very satisfying stay. The room was equipped with underfloor heating, making it comfortable to stay anywhere in the room even during cold seasons. Having two bedrooms was also convenient, allowing flexibility for families with babies. The meals were all delicious, and we were especially impressed by the thoughtful preparation of welcome drinks like coffee and macarons. The staff's attentiveness was excellent, providing a pleasant experience throughout our stay. One minor concern was that the dining area wasn't completely private, so we felt slightly conscious of others when dining with small children. Additionally, as this accommodation is located near the mountains, stink bugs may enter rooms around November—something to note for those who are not fond of insects. Overall, it was an extremely comfortable and warm accommodation. We would love to visit again in another season. This is an ideal place for those who appreciate fine cuisine!

    Charming Accommodation with a Wonderful Host

    I stayed during the summer. The room was spacious and felt like visiting a private villa. I was delighted to receive a complimentary draft beer at check-in! There are two types of baths, which can be reserved for private use, making it as comfortable as using an in-room bath. You can check the availability of the baths online. The meals were exceptionally delicious. The hostess was very charming and her warm personality truly shone through.

    As expected of an auberge.

    As expected from an Auberge, all the meals were delicious. This was my third stay here, and the meals have been further upgraded. The tableware was also excellent. I had made a reservation well in advance to stay in the newly renovated "Kinu." While other rooms are nice as well, this room is slightly smaller but comes with an indoor bath, open-air bath, and stone sauna, making it spacious and very comfortable. I enjoyed multiple baths during my stay and had a wonderful time. On our way back from visiting graves in Hamadori, Fukushima Prefecture during the autumn equinox after departing from Gunma Prefecture, we explored various accommodations but decided on this one despite it being slightly out of the way. While there are many luxurious accommodations if you’re willing to spend money, finding a place where both the room and baths are luxurious and all meals are delicious is rare. It’s perfect!

    Exceptional Hospitality

    We stayed here to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday, and everything from the indoor bath, outdoor bath, to the cuisine was absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for even preparing a cake for the celebration. Having stayed at various luxury hotels before, I believe this place had the best food by far.     This accommodation offers a delightful culinary experience, living up to its name as an auberge. The ingredients and preparation methods are thoughtfully crafted, making the meals highly enjoyable. While I don't drink Japanese sake, the selection of wines and other Western liquors was fairly decent. The restaurant setup features partitions between tables rather than semi-private rooms, so it lacks a sense of privacy. The room's private bath is on the smaller side, but there are two open-air baths available for private use. These baths do not require reservations; however, since the accommodation has a limited number of rooms, you can check their availability via a tablet in your room and enjoy them without stress. One minor drawback is that the sofa in the room is not flat-type, so you can't lie down comfortably on it. Additionally, there are no power outlets near the bedside in the bedroom for charging devices at night (although an extension cord was provided, it was slightly short and posed a tripping hazard at night). Overall, this is an excellent accommodation that I would love to revisit when given another opportunity.

    It was a very comfor...

    It was a very comfortable Hotel. The hostess was kind and listened to everything, helping us by recommending good places nearby or even checking directions for us. We had a relaxing time here. I would love to visit this Hotel again when I have the chance. The food was delicious, though the portions felt a bit large. It might be fine for younger people, but I was still very satisfied with the tasty meals provided.

    There was only one disappointing aspect.

    The service, room, meals, and bath were truly wonderful. However, the pillow was too high for me, and my neck started to hurt during the night. I ended up using a bath towel as a pillow. It would have been nice if lower pillows were also available.
