To watch the Onmaku Fireworks Festival

I stayed at the Imabari Kokusai Hotel for a Multiple Night Stay to watch the Imabari Onmaku fireworks. As it was the Hotel’s 30th anniversary, it had a luxurious interior with a flashy lobby that felt like a style from years ago. The Japanese rock garden (karesansui) they kindly showed us was truly wonderful. Our Room was on the 15th floor and reasonably spacious. The view was great and we could see Imabari Castle in the distance, but I think the fireworks were probably blocked by a wall from our Room. What bothered me after staying there was that each person only had one bath towel and one face towel, and there were no hand towels (I wash my hands a lot, so I’d like about two hand towels per person). I also wanted an extra face towel. Since they pride themselves on Imabari towels, I wish they wouldn’t be so stingy with them. There was also only one small tissue box, which was inconvenient and not nearly enough—we had to ask for refills several times. When I woke up in the morning, I was shocked by how dirty the carpet was! It even had patchwork repairs here and there, which really brought my mood down. The good point was the second-night benefits. They included breakfast vouchers, large public bath admission tickets, and souvenir shopping vouchers worth JPY 3,000, so it felt like much better value than the first night. We bought Imabari towels as souvenirs. Only the open-air bath is Onsen; the Onsen itself was nice, but the indoor bath water was far too lukewarm. Overall it offered good value for money, but since this is such a prominent Hotel representing Imabari, it feels like a missed opportunity—simply improving amenities and replacing the carpet would greatly enhance its image.

    Imabari Shipbuilding Hotel

After having lunch at a traditional Japanese restaurant on Hakatajima Island along the Shimanami Kaido, I visited two of the extra temples associated with Temple No. 88 before checking in. The display of miniature ship replicas is wonderful—perfect for a shipbuilding town. The bathroom fixtures are also set up to international standards, and it was fun that the faucet handles are reversed. I was also happy to find authentic Chinese cuisine on B1F at reasonable prices for dinner. This is probably my fifth stay here.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

Although this Review is late, my family stayed for one night in June. The Hotel has some signs of age, but it also had a solid, classic feel with attention to detail. Our Room that day had a great view, and the front desk staff were very courteous. What I especially recommend is the breakfast buffet—please be sure to include it with your stay. As this is my mother’s hometown, I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

The view and breakfast were satisfying, but the service and bedding were disappointing.

The view from the room was excellent, with a panoramic outlook over the Seto Inland Sea and the Seto Ohashi Bridge. The spacious lobby was also comfortable, and the sea bream ochazuke at breakfast was very delicious. On the other hand, the bed was low and the cushioning was extremely firm—so much so that it felt like only the lower layer of what should be a two-layer cushion. (Main building stay) Although there is an impressive driveway and entrance, there were no doormen, and everything—from unloading luggage to moving to the front desk and room, as well as getting to the off-site parking lot—was self-service. In addition, use of the large public bath, gym, and parking all requires separate fees. You can still sense traces of what used to be one of Imabari’s leading Hotels in the building and lobby. However, current service feels closer to a Business Hotel level, with additional charges for amenities. The bed itself was not comfortable either, so I did not feel it offered good value for money; next time I will look for another Hotel.

I had a smooth and comfortable stay.

I had a comfortable stay from check-in to check-out. The breakfast was also excellent, with a wide variety of options.

    Overall satisfied

The entrance lobby and large public bath were available, and the property felt as luxurious as—or even more so than—a city Hotel, which was very satisfying. However, for the time being it seems to be under construction, and only two elevators were operating. In a high-rise Hotel this leads to long wait times; at check-out most elevators arrived nearly full, making it hard to get on and likely frustrating. Also, while the parking lot seems spacious enough for many cars, each space is narrow, so we had to be careful with a larger vehicle. Still, if I have a chance to stay in Imabari again, I would like to use it again.

I would like to see a wider selection of items in the shop, especially alcoholic beverages. I was concerned about stains on the carpet in the guest room.

    A consistently luxurious Hotel

This was my second stay. Last time I stayed in the new wing, and not only at this Hotel, but I’ve encountered a few Hotels where there was a strange smell, perhaps due to newer building materials. The large public bath is in the main building, and the corridors there didn’t have any unpleasant odor either. I wanted to stay on the tower side, so this time I chose the main building—and it was absolutely the right choice. There was no smell, they upgraded me to a higher floor, and the view was fantastic. The bathroom is better in the annex, but I think I’ll choose the main building again next time. Last time there were noisy guests in the large public bath and it was unpleasant, but this time there were no inconsiderate guests like that, so I could relax quietly. Breakfast is truly delicious, with a wide variety including some locally sourced items. It’s something I really look forward to. It would be helpful if there were an extra box of tissues in the Room—I use a lot due to hay fever and ran out.

Luxury Hotel at an Affordable Price

I stayed for one night on April 23, and this was my second visit. With great views and a luxurious interior, you can stay at this Hotel at a reasonable price, so it feels like an excellent deal. It also has a large public bath with a sauna, and it felt like I came to Imabari just to stay at this Hotel. Last time, breakfast was served in the banquet hall, but this time it was at the restaurant on the first floor, where I enjoyed breakfast while looking out over the garden. It was very crowded, but everything was delicious. The Room is spacious and nice, but unlike last time it wasn’t on the ocean side, so the view was disappointing. The large public bath is also disappointing because there are no individual sauna mats, but it’s spacious and I think it’s good overall.

    Thank you for your support.

I stayed here for a drive along the Shimanami Kaido and to buy Imabari towels. Since there was an Onsen, I enjoyed it twice—once in the evening and again the next morning. It felt wonderful. The Facility is old, but it was well cleaned and maintained, and I didn’t feel any particular inconvenience.

Everything was excellent, and we were completely satisfied.

I was traveling for business, but I also wanted to enjoy the view, so I requested a Room with a view of Imabari Castle. The person on the phone was very pleasant. The Room was on a high floor, and I could see Imabari Castle—the view was wonderful. Both the Room and the in-room bath were spacious, and I was very satisfied. Breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of options, and everything was delicious. The whitebait in particular was excellent. I loved the large public bath last time as well, but this stay exceeded my previous visit. Thank you for your hospitality. I look forward to staying again when I visit Imabari next time.

    Ehime Trip

I made a Reservation for the new building with a breakfast-included Plan. I was a bit concerned when I saw an inbound tour group at check-in, but it was quiet and relaxing throughout my stay. This is a Hotel I’d like to use again when staying in Imabari. My wife also praised it highly, saying it was a very pleasant Hotel. We were told the breakfast buffet would open 30 minutes earlier than usual, so we went early and were able to avoid the crowds without overlapping with the inbound guests. In hindsight, going about 10 minutes after opening might have been even smoother. Since I didn’t use the large public bath or dinner service, I’m rating it one star lower. The Room was comfortable, and the glass-walled bathroom was clean. The towels were truly Imabari towels—great texture and excellent absorbency. The bed is on the firmer side. There was also a good selection of amenities. Because the sink area and toilet are in the same space it’s difficult, but I felt it would be better if the toilet were separate.

The Room, breakfast, and shop were all great.

I stayed here to visit Imabari Towel and the Towel Museum. The Room was clean, and the shop staff were kind and helpful. I also visited the Imabari Towel main store, but this Hotel had a great selection of Imabari towels as well, so I bought them here. Breakfast was excellent too—there was mandarin orange juice from the Mikyan faucet and plenty of delicious breakfast options.

    The breakfast was great.

It was my first time in Imabari, and although the Room was old, it was spacious and comfortable. There was bottled water provided, but since it was Evian, it was hard to tell whether it was complimentary or chargeable. The hot spring water quality in the large public bath was excellent, but there were two older women—an extremely loud elderly woman and what seemed to be her daughter—talking loudly the entire time in the open-air bath. I wanted to sit on the edge and relax for a long time, but it really upset me. Even though there is a big sign at the entrance asking guests not to be noisy, they still kept talking in the bath—I felt like shouting at them. This isn’t the Hotel’s fault, but it was very disappointing. Breakfast had a wide variety of options including local specialties, and everything was delicious. Thankfully those loud women weren’t in the breakfast area, which was a relief!

    Second time this year

I stayed at the accommodation in Imabari City for a drinking trip. I had previously used this hotel during an Obon vacation and discovered some great restaurants nearby. This hotel is my top choice because the rooms are spacious, the parking is convenient, and the breakfast is delicious. I also love the shower that sprays from both above and the sides—it warms up your body even without soaking in a bathtub.

    Highly Satisfied!

During my trip back from Kyushu, I visited the Shimanami Kaido and stayed in Imabari for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised by such an excellent hotel and had a very satisfying stay. From the check-in process to the staff's polite and friendly service, everything was exceptional. The room's spaciousness, bright lighting, and cleanliness were outstanding. In these times of rising prices making it harder to stay at city hotels like before, this hotel offers incredible value for money. I will definitely stay here again when visiting Ehime. *Thank you for providing additional bath towels!

    Business

I stayed for work. About a 10-minute walk from Imabari Station. As a landmark, it’s easy to find without getting lost. The room has a classic atmosphere of an old-fashioned luxury hotel. Both the room and the bathroom are spacious, allowing me to relax comfortably alone. All necessary amenities were provided, including pajamas and bottled water. In addition to the main lighting, there were table lamps, floor lights, and bedside lights, allowing me to adjust the brightness of the room as I liked, which was very comfortable. The view from the room was excellent with sights of the castle and sea. I chose a plan with breakfast included but found it very crowded at 7 AM due to group tours dining at that time. The food variety was abundant and included local specialties from Imabari; however, most items seemed to be frozen foods. Near the hotel is a stylish supermarket selling freshly made deli items and bread produced on-site—highly recommended!

    The view was amazing.

We stayed at the accommodation for our long-awaited family trip. It was a very luxurious hotel, truly deserving of its reputation as a landmark in Imabari. Our request for a sea-view side was also fulfilled, and the view upon waking up was stunningly beautiful. The breakfast was delicious, and we were very satisfied with making and enjoying Tai-meshi (sea bream rice).

    Hotel with Delicious Breakfast

This Hotel has aged compared to when it was first built, but it remains clean and the Room features a separate bath. Most importantly, the breakfast is so delicious that I would love to stay here again and again. Although I didn’t visit this time, the teppanyaki (steak) restaurant "Keyaki" on the top floor offers excellent meals at reasonable prices that leave you fully satisfied. On the first floor, "Iyoji" serves Japanese cuisine where you can enjoy sushi at the counter or Setouchi dishes in a sunken kotatsu seating area—both are incredibly tasty. Iyoji is also open for lunch, which is convenient as many Hotels don’t offer lunch options. However, there are areas for improvement: weak water pressure in the shower, echoing noise in the hallway leading to rooms in the new building (due to its unique design), and it would be nice if tissues were available in the bathroom along with hand towels. Addressing these issues could make this Hotel even more comfortable. For me personally, this Hotel is a favorite spot where I can relax and unwind comfortably.

    The breakfast was delicious.

During the Obon holiday, I usually stay in Shimanto City where I have acquaintances and spend the remaining night in Kochi City or Matsuyama City. However, this time I was late in searching for a hotel, and all reasonably priced options were fully booked. Expanding my search area led me to this accommodation, which I immediately reserved. Despite it being Obon, perhaps due to good timing, I was able to enjoy the large public bath all to myself. Although I didn’t use the room’s bath, having a separate toilet was a nice feature. The breakfast offered a wide variety of options and left me feeling full. There is also a shop where you can purchase small souvenirs. For smokers, it might be inconvenient that the only smoking area is outside near the entrance. However, thanks to staying here, I discovered an incredibly delicious restaurant worth revisiting—so overall it was an excellent experience!

A very clean and comfortable Hotel

It was a very comfortable hotel. The entire Hotel was spotless, and both the Room and the large public bath were perfectly clean. Among all the public baths I have visited, this one was probably the best in terms of cleanliness. The sauna also looked so new and pristine. Although I believe the Hotel has been around for some time, it is maintained so well that it felt like new. During our two-night stay, we experienced no discomfort and had a very pleasant time. The staff were polite and friendly. We dined at the Chinese restaurant for dinner, and it was absolutely delicious. As my daughter’s birthday coincided with our stay, we had pre-ordered a birthday cake in advance. After dinner, they turned off the lights in our Room to create a special atmosphere for her celebration; the cake was delicious as well! Thanks to their thoughtful gesture, we were able to create unforgettable memories of her birthday—thank you so much! On top of that, there was a lovely birthday message on our Room's table along with an adorable Imabari towel featuring "Mikan-chan," which made my daughter very happy! However, she later realized she had forgotten to take home the message card from our Room—our apologies for this oversight! We truly appreciate your kind attention to detail. At checkout time, I intended to express my gratitude together with my daughter but got distracted by upcoming plans and forgot amidst all the rush—my sincerest apologies for this lapse. We look forward to visiting again when traveling towards Shimanami next time. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us during this stay!

It feels like a beautiful art museum.

The lobby is luxurious, filled with paintings, offering the charm of an art museum. There are also many ship models to enjoy. The Room is clean and spacious. The large public bath is also clean and extremely comfortable. The pool allows children to bring float rings, which made them very happy. Breakfast was great as well. Despite being a holiday weekend, the price was very reasonable. Highly recommended!

It was a very good Hotel.

We stayed here to celebrate his birthday. The Room offered a stunning view of Imabari. The staff provided attentive service, and we felt their warm hospitality, making our stay very pleasant. The interior design was carefully crafted, and the Facility included shops, restaurants, and a large public bath, making it an exceptional Hotel. We look forward to staying here again.

Hotel with delicious and beautifully presented breakfast

Stayed for fireworks viewing. The room was traditional but spacious and clean, which was great. The curtain in the unit bath seemed to be replaced regularly, as it was very clean. Hardly heard any noise from neighbors and had a relaxing stay. The TV had YouTube and Hulu available. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, including many drinks and tokoroten jelly noodles. Everything was delicious. Will use this accommodation again during future fireworks events. Thank you!

    After sightseeing on...

After sightseeing on the Shimanami Kaido, we stayed in a Corner Twin Room for three people. The location is easy to find as the tower stands tall. The building has a luxurious feel, and the room was bright, clean, with great views, making our stay very pleasant. Despite being late at night, staff were present at the large public bath and kindly guided us. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options; we ate too much but were delighted to try "Imabari Tamago Meshi." At check-in, we were informed by the front desk that it could be crowded during early hours; however, arriving before 8 AM allowed us to enjoy a smooth and relaxed experience. It was our first time in Imabari, but all the staff were incredibly friendly and made for an excellent start to our trip. We would love to stay again when visiting Shikoku. Thank you very much!
