Snoring loudly
We had a wonderful time. Thank you very much. We would definitely love to visit again.\nOne small disappointment was the sink drainage.\nOther than that, everything was great, and we were happy with the kind staff. We would like to come again in a different season. Thank you for taking care of us.

It would be hard to call it a luxury accommodation.
This was my first stay, drawn by the high Reviews. What I liked - The lobby is bright, with large windows and a terrace filled with greenery. Check-in was refreshing, surrounded by a pleasant scent. - The Onsen water quality was decent. What I felt could be improved - There is no valet parking. You unload your luggage near the entrance and then move your car to the parking lot. On departure, there was no send-off after payment; we left directly from the parking lot. - We stayed in the Hana-no-Kura Japanese/Western-style Room. When we opened the door, several mismatched multicolored marker pens were placed on top of the shoe cabinet, with a note asking guests to write their name in any color so slippers won’t get mixed up. - In the Room, complimentary items were limited to a 2-liter bottle of water and bean snacks from Okayama Prefecture; everything else was charged. Several drink vending machines are installed along the outdoor corridor. - The interior is small, old, and has steps. The single-basin washroom/changing area feels cramped even for one person, and the amenities felt like those of a Business Hotel. Appliances such as a National refrigerator and a low-power fixed hair dryer seemed like they have been used since opening. - From the private open-air bath in the Room, you can’t see much of the river unless you lean out. The large open-air bath has deep steps and doesn’t seem suitable for elderly guests. A sign at the entrance said to “enjoy” leaves and nuts that fall into an open-air bath, but seeing large insects floating takes away from any atmosphere. In addition, motor noise in the adjacent resting area was noticeable. - Paint peeling off metal handrails and creaking wooden decking on the lobby terrace gave an impression that Facility updates are not keeping up. - Dinner and breakfast appeared to be prepared in advance, refrigerated, then served at set times (everything was already on our table when we sat down). Grilled items were lukewarm, and overall flavors were extremely ordinary. I think even a buffet at a large Hotel catering to tour groups would be more satisfying. - As for staff and service: neither particularly good nor bad. I chose this Accommodation based solely on its site rating as a highly satisfying luxury stay, but it would be difficult to return. There are many good Accommodations nearby, so there’s little reason to choose this one specifically. With proactive investment in Facilities along with delicious food and attentive service—even if prices doubled—I would consider it worthwhile.

The Best Baths and Dining
It was a relaxing experience surrounded by magnificent nature, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. At reception, healing music plays as background music, and together with the scenery it creates a wonderfully out-of-the-ordinary atmosphere. The open-air bath attached to the Room, the meals (for dinner we enjoyed sashimi, meat, salt-grilled ayu, and more; for breakfast we had a Japanese-style meal), and the service were all flawless—5 stars. We will definitely visit again!

The meals were delicious.
We stayed for two nights in Room 211 at Hana no Kura. The Room was generally very good, but we felt some minor details could be improved (we noted this in the Accommodation survey). Dinner looked and tasted great—especially the wagyu steak on the first night, the beef tongue soup on the second night, the butter-sautéed spiny lobster, and the deep-fried corn-and-shrimp sandwich. For breakfast, we chose both Japanese and Western options; on the first day, we especially enjoyed the fluffy Japanese rolled omelet (dashimaki tamago). The private open-air bath in the guest room was spacious, well temperature-controlled, and excellent.

I’ll be back.
This is my second stay. As expected, everything was wonderful. The meals, the baths, and the service. However, since private-use reservations are first-come, first-served, I wish I had checked in a bit earlier... I will definitely stay again.

Thank you very much ...
Thank you very much for your help during our stay. From the time we made the Reservation, you were very supportive, and our expectations were high—we were really looking forward to it. However, when we arrived at the Room, the sliding window to the balcony would not move at all, so we could not use the balcony. We contacted the front desk, but in the end the information was not shared with the Accommodation and no action was taken. As a result, we had no choice but to spend most of our time in a dim Japanese-style room with a sunken kotatsu. We tried to accept it as an unexpected travel mishap because we had been so excited, but at check-out we felt disappointed that we did not receive service commensurate with what we paid. I assume there will be other guests using this Room after us—can this really be resolved with just an apology? We will put this Accommodation behind us.

Plenty of Onsen baths.
The Room is spacious and relaxing. I was able to unwind in the Room’s garden while listening to the gentle murmur of the river. In addition to the Room’s open-air Onsen bath, there are four private Onsen baths with unique designs, as well as a large public bath—perfect for enjoying Onsen to the fullest. The dining area had a great atmosphere, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious and very satisfying. At night, it was fun to see fireflies by the nearby river. If there had been a bar where you could casually enjoy a cocktail or other drink at night, it would have been perfect.

An absolutely wonderful Accommodation!
I have stayed here more than 10 times, and everything about this Accommodation—the rooms, the meals, the views, and the hospitality—is perfect. During my stay, I rarely run into other guests; meals are served in a private dining room, the large public bath is spacious, and there are also four private baths available, so you can relax completely without any stress. I’ll definitely be back again soon!

Asebi-no
Thank you for your hospitality. We had a wonderful time. Thank you very much. It would have been even better if there had been a bit more variety at breakfast. We look forward to staying with you again.

Always wonderful.
I have been staying at Asebi-no for nearly 20 years, and this was my 17th visit. It feels truly comfortable and welcoming. However, parts of the building are showing their age: some areas of the guestroom floor creaked when walked on, and the balcony floor felt like it sank slightly underfoot. The meals are thoughtfully prepared, making for a very enjoyable time. At night, we were able to watch fireflies at the nearby Deai Bridge, which was a special experience. The only disappointment was that voices from the neighboring balcony were quite loud, and I could hear them from just after 5 a.m., which kept me from sleeping.

Wonderful
The Accommodation was stunning from the moment we arrived at the entrance. The lobby was quiet, with tasteful furniture placed subtly throughout, a terrace and chairs that blended beautifully with the surrounding nature, and flowers and greenery arranged everywhere—everything reflected impeccable taste. We checked in at a relaxed pace while enjoying tea and sweets, and from the very start we received wonderfully attentive hospitality. Our Room was a third-floor Japanese-Western style room. The Western-style area sits a couple of steps lower, which was perfect for three adults—close enough to be together, yet with just the right sense of separation. Simply sitting on the terrace, listening to the sound of water and looking out at the trees made us happy. Some wooden parts of the furnishings show their age, but everything is well maintained and spotless, which actually adds to the calm atmosphere. The private baths were all enjoyable; the one on the third floor seemed newest—clean and spacious—but entering each of the other three buildings nestled in nature also gave us a little thrill every time. We loved Seko-no-Yu so much that we wanted to soak again and again—I felt like I was in the baths nonstop during our stay (laughs). Dinner was delicious in a private room with beautiful views of nature once again. Rather than a typical “classic Ryokan dinner,” it felt more modern, delicate, refined, and beautifully presented—and it didn’t sit heavy at all. The chef is truly outstanding. We also received lovely sekihan for a 60th birthday celebration. After dinner we walked out to the bridge and were able to see fireflies right at the very end of their season. It was also helpful that we could stop by the lobby freely for tea or coffee on our way back from walks or baths. We chose Japanese-style breakfast as well, and it too was excellent—thank you for such wonderful meals. Everyone on staff—from reception onward—was kind and genuinely pleasant. Thank you for taking such good care of us. This Accommodation is truly a place where adults can relax quietly, and I sincerely hope the owner will continue protecting this atmosphere above all else. I imagine there are many repeat guests—and I’m sure I’ll become one too.”

Just this part is fine.
It feels like our own private vacation home, and we visit every year. That’s because we know we’ll never be disappointed or made to feel uncomfortable. Hearing nothing but the sound of the river is truly a luxury. It’s that quiet, surrounded by deep greenery, and it soothes both body and mind. The meals were exquisite as always. My husband, nearly 80, says, “I don’t feel like going anywhere else. This place is all we need.” Thank you again for taking such good care of us this time as well. We hope to stay healthy so we can return every year.

Fall in love with a superb Accommodation of hot springs, wonderful people, and exquisite cuisine—where you may even encounter fireflies.
In our third year after retirement, my husband (67) and I (63, still working) took a couples’ trip to see fireflies. We chose this Accommodation after seeing the Japanese andromeda’s flower message: “Let’s travel together.” As soon as we entered, the staff gave us a unique welcome—using an old-fashioned baby carriage?—and carried our luggage for us. It was so charming that we couldn’t help smiling right away. After check-in, an attendant explained how to use everything in our Room. At that time, they also made a private bath Reservation for us on their smartphone. We booked “Kazahaya” and “Kawasemi.” They also kindly told us what to wear for firefly viewing—samue loungewear and sneakers are fine—and shared other helpful tips. After enjoying the private baths, we relaxed with coffee from the espresso machine. Most guests were senior couples, and with only a small number of Rooms, the public bath, lobby, and lounge areas all felt spacious. Dinner was not showy or extravagant—just high-quality ingredients prepared with great taste and a playful touch. The conger eel soup and young sweetfish spring rolls were especially outstanding. We chose one half-bottle each of white and red wine and enjoyed pairing them with the meal. After 8:00 p.m., we watched swarms of fireflies dancing at Deai Bridge. The season started early this year so it seemed past its peak, but there was no moonlight or rain—perfect conditions. It was beautiful yet bittersweet, letting us fully experience this classic Japanese seasonal scene. It’s about a 5-minute walk from the Accommodation. For breakfast the next morning, we ordered both Japanese- and Western-style sets and shared them as a couple. The bread, soup, and house-made sausage were delicious. The grilled fish was easy to eat—and excellent! There wasn’t tea service set out in our Room area at breakfast time, so I wished for tea at the end (though it might have been available if we had asked). On departure day we headed to Shuzenji from the bus stop in front of the Accommodation called “Sotono.” While waiting for the bus outside, we enjoyed chatting with staff about local topics—it was very comforting. Of course the cuisine and hot springs were wonderful, but what stayed with us most was how genuinely kind everyone on staff is. Their friendly yet natural hospitality—the greetings—and their calm manner that blends into this area’s rich nature truly soothed us. Seeing how happily they work is one of this Accommodation’s greatest assets. That became our best souvenir from this trip. This Accommodation was simply the best choice for us: just-right comfort, warm hospitality, and excellent food that left us completely satisfied. On our way home on Odoriko Limited Express train (“Odoriko”), we naturally found ourselves saying: “Let’s come again.” “Yes.” To everyone at the Accommodation—thank you for such a wonderful trip. Great hot water
The baths were excellent. With only a small number of Rooms, each Room featuring a semi-open-air bath and five private baths available, even the public bath felt like it was for our exclusive use. One suggestion: it would be helpful if amenities (shampoo & conditioner, facial cleanser, etc.) were provided in the private baths. The meals were just the right amount (I forgot to mention that I don’t like river fish, so sweetfish was served). The drinks were also delicious and well selected. I’d love to stay here again.

I can’t find any issues.
I already knew it had great reviews, and I’d watched videos beforehand. I arrived with very high expectations, so I assumed there would be at least some drawbacks. There were none. If anything, it exceeded my expectations. The Room was clean and comfortable; the food was outstanding in presentation, taste, and portion size; and the baths—whether in-room, private, or the large public bath—were all excellent, with superb water quality. Every member of staff was wonderful as well, to the point that it will be hard to stay at other Onsen Ryokan after this. I think I’ll be back again soon. Highly recommended! *The Mt. Fuji photo is not from Asebino. (Taken at Mishima Skywalk.)*

All the staff are wonderful. In particular, there was one staff member who truly surprised me—in the best way. I’m completely won over. I can’t get enough of it. So, I made another Reservation.

Izu in the Rain
Although it rained, it had a lovely atmosphere and we enjoyed our stay. The sound of the river, the rain, and the fresh new maple leaves were very soothing. The hot spring water was wonderful—my skin felt silky smooth. The staff were kind and welcoming. Above all, the food was delicious; gently seasoned yet varied, and we enjoyed every course to the end. The only disappointment was that the Room washbasin area was quite dark and there was no magnifying mirror.

The Luxury of Doing Nothing
Some Accommodations leave a strong first impression and make you want to return, but it’s rare to visit more than twice. Even so, Asebino is a place I truly want to stay at again. Nothing is missing, yet nothing feels excessive—an Accommodation that’s perfect for spending a relaxing, unhurried time. The Onsen, the meals, the Room, and the hospitality of the staff are all consistently wonderful. Its enduring quality remains unchanged. This time, I especially liked the subtle fragrance in the public spaces. I visit every year in early spring, but next time I’d like to come in a different season. Thank you very much for your kind care and hospitality.

Anniversary Trip
We planned a 3-day, 2-night trip to Izu for our wedding anniversary and stayed one night at Asebino. From the moment we arrived, it met our expectations, and thanks to the efficient attendant’s recommendations, we were able to enjoy several private Onsen baths (the in-room bath was more than enough as well). We were extremely satisfied with everything—service, Onsen, and meals—and what made it even better was that all the other guests spent their time quietly in their own way. It reminded us that for a Hotel or Ryokan, fellow guests are an important element in creating the overall atmosphere, just as much as service, Onsen, and food. To all the staff and fellow guests who stayed with us: thank you for making this a memorable trip.

Relaxation
Both the large public bath and the open-air bath in the Room were excellent, so I used them many times. Bathing while listening to the murmuring river was soothing for both body and mind. The meals were also delicious. It’s quiet and relaxing, so it’s one of my favorite places.

This is a quiet accommodation.
With only a few Rooms and no small children, this Accommodation is very quiet. The Onsen is free-flowing and the water is excellent, fresh, and pleasantly scented. The in-room bath Onsen felt fresher than the large public bath. The property is well cleaned throughout, but the Rooms may feel a bit dated. The meals are not particularly unique, and the portions may be large.

Our Top Recommended Accommodation (Second Stay)
I stayed here last September and loved it, so I returned six months later and stayed in the same Room, Hana no Kura. It’s on the second floor, but it feels like having a private garden on the first floor, with an open-air bath plus a table and chairs. I could relax there all day. There are also four private baths. Three require a short walk outside and feel like you’re surrounded by nature along the river. The private bath on the third floor was stylish, with beautiful lighting. And the meals were outstanding. The tableware was thoughtfully chosen to match each dish, the presentation was elegant, and the flavors were excellent. I’m planning to make another Reservation. I’m glad I could visit during the season when asebi flowers are in bloom.

The Ultimate Relaxing Ryokan
I have stayed here many times. Once again, I was completely satisfied with everything—meals, the Onsen, and the staff. I especially appreciate the consideration shown for my daughter, who is a very picky eater. Thanks to the thoughtful care of the staff and chef, she was able to truly enjoy her meal as well. Thank you very much. We will stay again in autumn.

Consistent comfort, always.
I have been staying at Asebi-no for over 15 years. While there are a few areas that show the passage of time, the Accommodation is always clean, and I can relax comfortably from the moment I check in. The staff are consistently courteous, and every time I stay here, it feels like coming home to my own familiar place. Both dinner and breakfast are satisfying no matter what season I visit. The open-air bath in the Room is very relaxing, and the private baths are also wonderful—you can enjoy bathing while taking in the changing seasons. The large public bath is spacious and comfortable. This is an Accommodation I hope to continue using for many years to come. Thank you again for another great stay.
