I’d love to stay here again!

I booked this stay because of the great Reviews, and it really caught my interest. After sightseeing at Kinomiya Shrine, we took a taxi there, and they warmly welcomed us at the entrance upon arrival. We were traveling with our 4-year-old and 1-year-old children, and everyone was so kind that the kids seemed to have a wonderful time. And above all, I was amazed at how incredibly delicious the food was. My husband and I weren’t very hungry when we went to dinner, but every dish was so good that before we knew it, we had finished everything. Even the appetizers were outstanding. We’ve traveled to many places before, but this was the first time we’ve had food this delicious. The children’s meal was also excellent, and even our child who usually eats very little seemed to eat a lot. Since our younger child is still small, my younger child and I used the in-Room bath, but it was spacious and spotless, so we enjoyed it more than enough. When we come to Atami again, I definitely want to stay here again!

    An Accommodation with Exceptional Hospitality

We stayed on a last-minute Reservation with my elderly parents and my sister, four of us in total. We arrived a little before our scheduled 3:00 PM check-in, and we were delighted to be warmly welcomed by the Accommodation staff lined up to greet us. The Room we were shown to was old, but very clean and comfortable. We went to the Onsen first, but my mother unfortunately felt unwell from the hot bath and couldn’t make it to dinner at 5:30 PM. Even so, everyone was incredibly kind—preparing rice porridge for her and checking in on her even if they weren’t our assigned staff member. We were truly grateful for their thoughtful care. Thanks to that, she recovered by evening—enough to enjoy the Onsen again. Of course, the other three of us were still able to fully enjoy the delicious meal. We also only found out after arriving that it was the day of the Atami Fireworks Festival. My parents were able to watch comfortably from an open Room on an upper floor of the Accommodation, while my sister and I walked about 15 minutes to the beach and were guided to a guest-only viewing area right in front of us. It was an amazing experience. This was our first time staying here with a sudden Reservation, but we were deeply impressed by the heartfelt hospitality from such wonderful staff. Thank you very much. My mother says she would love to enjoy your delicious dinner next time as well, so we hope to visit again soon!

    Sounds good.

When you think of Atami, you think of the sea, but unfortunately there is almost no ocean view here. It’s in the mountains, and in summer the cicadas are loud from early morning. Because it had such high ratings, I chose this place instead of a newer Hotel by the coast. The building is quite old and reminds you that it must have once been a very luxurious Ryokan. The service is good. I chose one of the largest Rooms with in-room dining available. It was incredibly spacious—the bath was large as well, and there were multiple rooms. The meals were impressive with a wide variety of dishes, and most were fairly tasty. The tuna sashimi wasn’t very good, and there were a few items that felt a bit too salty. Breakfast also had many dishes—I was happy with it overall. Since it’s a Ryokan, there aren’t many power outlets and some are far from where you need them, which can be slightly inconvenient. However, the bath is big and spacious with an outside view, which I really enjoyed. They also replaced towels with fresh ones in the morning—solid service. The bedding was just a mattress without much softness; since I usually sleep on a top-class Airweave mattress at home, it felt a little lacking for me. Atami gets crowded on weekends—the roads around the station were heavily congested (the taxi took back roads so that helped), but the station itself was packed too.

    Marine Day

We arrived earlier than planned, but the staff kindly handled our check-in. They also upgraded us to a Room with a view of the fireworks, and we couldn’t wait for the show to start. As expected from its reputation, every dish was excellent and we truly enjoyed the meals. There is an Onsen, but it is a traditional setup with separate large and small baths that alternate between men and women in the morning and evening. There is no sauna or open-air bath, but everything was well cleaned and very hygienic. We fully enjoyed Atami’s fireworks from our Room, making this a memorable trip. The cleaning was thorough, and when they laid out the futons, everything had already been arranged for viewing the fireworks—even down to thoughtfully positioning the chairs. In the Room, you can enjoy tea, mineral water, and drinks in the refrigerator (for a fee). It would have been nice if there were coffee service after meals (especially after breakfast). This is a Ryokan we would like to visit again to match our stay with the fireworks schedule.

    May Delicacies, Fine-Dining Ryokan

During my stay in Tokyo on a scorching midsummer day, I was first captivated by the refreshingly cool presentation of the appetizer. Creating such a sense of coolness from the very start felt like the thoughtful touch of a long-established establishment, and I enjoyed it with all my senses—both visually and on the palate.

A hilltop accommodation surrounded by greenery, leading to the sea

Every month, it’s our tradition to visit the Izu–Hakone–Yugawara area with my mother and husband, and in April we stayed at Koarashitei for the first time. As we had heard it was a “Ryokan with a fine-dining restaurant,” the meals were unfortunately below our expectations, but thanks to the courteous service from the attendants and all staff members, we were able to spend our time comfortably. I also enjoyed chatting with the male staff member who explained the garden early in the morning. The oval-shaped hiba-wood bath in our Room was very relaxing, and we could soak for a long time. We also appreciated having our towels replaced with fresh ones multiple times. Since there is no free lounge, we felt it would be even more convenient if there were a coffee machine in the Room.

    Relaxing Accommodation

We wanted to relax, so this time we took an Onsen trip as a couple. When we arrived at the Accommodation and entered our Room, the first thing we noticed was the scent of tatami. From the entrance, you pass over the tatami into a layout with connected 10-tatami and 4-tatami rooms (I think), plus a spacious veranda area—everything felt comfortably roomy. My husband and I usually go to bed at different times, so we try to make a Reservation for a two-room layout whenever possible, but with this standard Room, that wasn’t necessary. There didn’t seem to be an open-air bath, but the large public bath is bright with glass walls and feels wonderfully open and relaxing. What I especially want to highlight is the food. There were no gimmicky ingredients, but every dish was delicious—especially the dashi broth, which was rich and outstanding. I took photos and sent them to friends who love Onsen trips too, and they immediately reacted to the ayu sweetfish warm noodles. We’d love to visit again—also just for another meal. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

Delicious Japanese Cuisine After a Long Time

We stayed here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The spacious Room with the soothing scent of igusa (rush grass) instantly lifted our spirits. The amenities were also presented in organza pouches, which felt very luxurious. And the Japanese meals—both dinner and breakfast—were truly delicious, just as we had heard. This was what we looked forward to most, and it alone deserves five stars for satisfaction. My wife, who loves Japanese cuisine, was delighted as well. We were also happy to enjoy local Shizuoka specialties such as sakura shrimp at dinner and horse mackerel at breakfast. We also appreciated being able to toast with the complimentary sparkling wine provided as an IKYU Diamond Member benefit. In the large public bath, it was wonderful that spare bath towels were available in the changing area and that chilled bottled water was provided. However, we felt the tub itself was a bit small compared with the washing area as a Facility feature. Fortunately, we didn’t share it with any groups or families this time, so we were able to relax in the Onsen at our own pace. Thank you very much to all the staff for your hospitality.

We were able to relax and take our time as a couple.

The seasonal dishes were absolutely delicious. Our Room overlooked lush greenery, and I was impressed by how thoroughly it was cleaned. The garden was also wonderful; we enjoyed a walk after breakfast, and feeding the koi was fun too. It’s an Accommodation I’d like to recommend to friends.

We were extremely satisfied with our anniversary trip.

We stayed here as a couple for our wedding anniversary while visiting Kinomiya Shrine. The Room was spacious, the in-room meals were delicious, and we were able to relax and enjoy our time. The attendant who looked after us was very kind, and my wife was extremely satisfied. Thank you very much.

    Excellent!

After a wonderful stay with my sister last year, I’m back this year with my mother. My mother is turning 90 this year and doesn’t walk well, so having an in-room bath is a big plus. Meals are served in the Room, so there’s no need to move around the Accommodation. We’ll be back again next year!

    I was satisfied.

We were completely satisfied with both the service and the food. The meals were truly delicious, if I may say so myself. If there is one thing I would like improved, it would be the Room bath: for older guests, a handrail in the bathtub would make it easier to use. Because my body is light, when the tub is filled with plenty of hot water, I start to float and can’t stay stable. Also, it would be nice to have a sofa in the Room. Other than that, we were very satisfied. Thank you very much.

    Exquisite meals!

We stayed in a Japanese-style Room with an ocean view. The Onsen was at just the right temperature, so we could relax and soak for a long time. The changing area was very clean, and bath towels were provided. Dinner was truly outstanding and delicious! Every dish was carefully and delicately prepared, and there were even some items we wanted seconds of—we were extremely satisfied. This Accommodation made us want to come back just to enjoy that meal again.

Thank you for an unforgettable stay!

We brought my 92-year-old mother from Kumamoto to show her the Atami fireworks, and the four of us—my mother, my daughter, my husband, and I—had a wonderful stay. Every dinner dish was outstanding; we were moved to be able to enjoy seasonal ingredients so early. You prepared a Room with a perfect front-facing view of the fireworks, and we turned off the lights and enjoyed them with cheers. Everyone was so kind and spoke to us warmly, which allowed my elderly mother to feel at ease throughout our stay. It was also our first time at an Accommodation where plenty of chilled bottled water was provided in the large public bath area. At other Accommodations we’ve seen draft beer, small cans of beer, or milk drinks, but water is helpful for everyone regardless of age. Even when seeing us off for our taxi, you kept waving until we were out of sight—it truly made for a very pleasant stay. My mother has visited Atami several times over her 92 years, but she said this time was by far the best and she was absolutely delighted. It’s also the first time we’ve ever had such a comfortable stay with not a single complaint—everyone spoke while looking us in the eye. Thank you very much for giving us such wonderful memories.

    Baths, Cuisine

Both breakfast and dinner were served in the Room, so we could relax. Each dish was carefully prepared and a delight to enjoy with the eyes as well. Many items featured delicate petal garnishes, letting us feel the season. The in-room bath was large and spacious, and the water left our skin feeling wonderfully smooth. All staff greeted us with smiles, and their service felt very capable. One thing we especially appreciated was the Shuttle Service from the station to the Accommodation. Atami Station was extremely crowded and there was a long line for taxis, so waiting for one was exhausting.

    Excellent cuisine

Due to illness, my stay was delayed by a week. They kindly accommodated the change. The Room was spacious and bright, and the bath was at a comfortable temperature with wonderful hot water. There was also chilled water available. Everything was clean, and the amenities were well stocked. What stood out most was the food: seasonal ingredients beautifully presented, hot dishes served piping hot, lovely tableware, and perfect timing. I truly enjoyed every bite. It made me want to visit again soon (haha). Although it is located in central Atami, it is a calm Accommodation with gracious hospitality. I will visit again. Thank you very much.

    The meals are exceptionally satisfying.

I visited with my mother, and we were so satisfied that this is a long review! First, the garden next to the lobby is beautiful. From the moment we arrived, it felt like a special escape from everyday life, and check-in was smooth and pleasant. We made a Reservation for the Main Building Ocean-Side Room Plan. It wasn’t overly luxurious, but it was spacious, very clean, and more than comfortable enough for our family to relax. As for the large public bath, I hadn’t checked the website carefully beforehand and mistakenly thought the panoramic bath was an open-air bath. In fact, there is no open-air bath—only an indoor bath—but it’s spacious and not too hot, so you can soak comfortably. The hair dryers also had plenty of airflow. The only small thing I noticed was that the bathing area felt a bit cool, but it wasn’t a problem. Above all, the meals were truly outstanding. I was genuinely moved—it’s at a level that makes you think, “I want to come back just for this food.” Each dish was beautifully executed, and you could really feel the chefs’ taste and skill. What impressed me most was how consistently excellent everything was—there were no misses at all. There’s a good amount of food, but there are thoughtful changes in flavor along the way, so we enjoyed every bite without getting tired of it and finished everything. They also handled my mother’s allergy with great care—not with simple substitutions, but in a way that let her enjoy her meal just like everyone else—and that consideration meant a lot to us. The staff member assisting at dinner also explained everything clearly and made our dining time even better. All of the other staff were equally impressive: naturally polite communication and attentive care throughout made our stay relaxing from start to finish. It was our first mother-daughter trip together, and it became a wonderful memory. Thank you very much.

    We had a relaxing stay.

Every dish was seasoned differently, and it was wonderful. The portions were a bit large for us parents (not in a bad way), and our high school–aged son enjoyed it as well. We were able to spend a quiet night away from the bustle of Atami. Being able to relax without any formality was the best part. We will visit again for another celebration. The staff’s conversation struck just the right balance—warm, yet respectfully distant.

    A girls’ trip visit

We stayed in one Room with five people. The hospitality, the food, and the baths were all wonderful. When we returned to the Room after breakfast on the second day, we were impressed to find that the futons had been put away and everything was neatly tidied up. Both dinner and breakfast were very generous in portion size, and we enjoyed them very much. We were also lucky with the weather, so the view from the Room was fantastic. Thank you for helping us create such wonderful memories on our girls’ trip.

    The food is excellent.

I stayed with my family as a party of two. As the name “cuisine Ryokan” suggests, both dinner and breakfast were very delicious and satisfying. The Room had a traditional, old-style Ryokan atmosphere. The Onsen was also very pleasant, and I enjoyed soaking in it many times. One thing: the Wi-Fi in the Room was weak and frequently disconnected, which was a bit inconvenient.

    Atami in a Snowy Landscape

By chance, a cold wave brought an unusual snowy landscape. We gave up on visiting the plum garden and arrived early, but the staff welcomed us very pleasantly. The bath in the Room is located separately from the Room, and it is not an open-air bath (no outside air), which was a bit disappointing. However, the hot spring water quality was excellent. The large public bath is very simple, so if you are looking for modern entertainment-style facilities, it may not meet your expectations. This place is best for those who prioritize water quality. I think it would be even more enjoyable with a sauna or an open-air bath with fresh air. The food was truly outstanding and we were completely satisfied. This Plan seemed to be their standard lineup, but it was an impressive kaiseki meal. It feels like a dining-focused Ryokan with restaurant-level cuisine. Highly recommended for anyone who values great food as well.

As expected of a Ryokan with a fine dining experience.

We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. The meals were all carefully prepared, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Even the autumn leaves used as decoration on the dishes showed attention to detail, leaving us very satisfied. The tempura of local small shrimp served at the end of the meal was thoughtfully prepared, with whiskers and legs removed for easier eating. The bedding in our Japanese-style room consisted of futons, but they were as comfortable as bed mattresses with firm underlays and soft, voluminous pillows that ensured a good night's sleep. The hot spring water was clear and warmed us to the core, with spacious and clean washing areas. (Although an elderly guest seemed confused about which bottle was body soap.) It would have been perfect if there had been an open-air bath; hence I give it 4 stars. We arrived by car and were surprised to be charged for parking despite this not being a budget accommodation. Incidentally, there was a sign at the parking lot entrance stating "Monthly Parking: 1,000 yen," yet we were charged 1,000 yen for parking too. If it had been presented as valet parking with a fee for driving cars from the entrance to the lot instead, it would have felt more stylish and acceptable. Overall, we were very satisfied but found some minor flaws.

The cuisine is excellent, but the bath is not very impressive.

I went on a trip with my wife to relax on my birthday. I was hoping to soak in an Onsen and unwind, but the public bath only had one tub and there was no open-air bath. It was my fault for not researching beforehand, but I was disappointed as I had been looking forward to relaxing in an Onsen. However, the meals were fantastic both in the morning and evening—absolutely delicious! It felt like dining at a high-end Kyoto restaurant, and I was very satisfied. The hospitality was excellent, making it a wonderful Ryokan overall.
