    Exquisite Cuisine and a Beautiful Garden

    As expected from a long-established Hotel. The Room had a bit of an old feel, but the excellent cuisine and beautiful garden made it a very satisfying and sophisticated Hotel. It became a memorable trip to Dogo.

    The quality of the water sourced from Dogo Onsen is exceptional!

    I visited for the first time with my mother (for Mother's Day). The traditional Ryokan atmosphere and historical charm made it stand out from other Ryokans and Hotels. The Onsen quality was simply amazing! It seems to be sourced from Dogo Onsen, as mentioned, and it left my skin feeling incredibly smooth. It was more relaxing than visiting Dogo Onsen itself since I could take my time and head straight back to the room afterward—this was a great experience! Dinner was French cuisine, where we could choose the main dish. The beef fillet was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. I would love to visit again!

    I had a relaxing stay.

    I had a relaxing time in the soothing Onsen. When I arrived at the Ryokan and entered my room, I was warmly greeted with "Please have a restful stay," which truly touched my heart. It was said by an elderly staff member, and it made me very happy. The temperature of the Onsen in the large public bath was perfect and felt amazing—I enjoyed it five times during my 2-night stay! The food was delicious, and I ate to my heart's content, leaving me highly satisfied. The attentive service from the staff was delightful. I would love to stay here again.

    It was a great Onsen.

    The Onsen water was soft and very pleasant. Having breakfast served in the room was a nice touch. Around 10 PM, the bath was crowded, and only one side of the open-air bath was accessible. There was no information about the bath rotation schedule.

    The traditional hospitality was incredibly comforting!

    Thank you for your hospitality. I love Dogo Onsen and have visited many times. Although I wanted to visit the Dogo Onsen Honkan, the long line of inbound visitors made me give up (laughs). It’s understandable though, as it’s a place worth visiting at least once even if you have to wait in line. The atmosphere and charm are truly wonderful. I enjoyed Tsubaki no Yu instead, and honestly, even though it wasn’t the Honkan, the water was excellent. More than that, Funaya's large public bath was spacious and relaxing—absolutely fantastic! It wasn’t crowded but still offered a peaceful soak with great onsen water. Upon arrival, I was guided to my room without having to carry my suitcase myself—truly impressive service! The single cherry blossom in a vase reflected seasonal elegance perfectly; the tea preparation, high-quality sweets, abundant towels—all showcased the exceptional hospitality of this historic accommodation. The "Filet Steak" loved by literary masters was also delicious. In recent years, I’ve often chosen accommodations with fewer rooms and private open-air baths attached to rooms; however, this stay reminded me of how wonderful traditional accommodations with excellent large public baths can be. I love Dogo Onsen and will visit again soon. Thank you very much!

    Good.

    The Room was spacious and had a stylish atmosphere. We were traveling with a toddler, but the staff was considerate, making our stay very pleasant. The food was also very delicious.

    77th Birthday Celebration

    All four of us, aged 77 this year, received a fruit platter from Funaya. The Room was spacious, the service was excellent, and everyone was satisfied.

    Mother-Daughter Trip

    Mother-Daughter Trip We arrived 3 hours earlier than planned without prior notice, but the staff kindly accommodated us. The large public bath, open-air Onsen, and the gentle spring quality of Dogo were truly enjoyable. My daughter (an adult) was thrilled with the Hinoki Onsen in our Room—thank you for your thoughtful arrangements. Starting with a mandarin orange aperitif, the in-room dining featuring Ehime-produced ingredients was visually stunning and absolutely delicious. Each dish showcased delicate flavors, seasonal ingredients, and a sense of Japan through its traditional breakfast. The attentive service from the staff added warmth to our stay. This was my first Onsen trip after undergoing major surgery, and staying at Funaya created such wonderful memories. I will recommend it to my friends—it is truly a treasure of Japan that I hope remains forever!

    It was a wonderful trip.

    From the warm welcome to the heartfelt farewell, every staff member's hospitality was exceptional and truly touching. The meals offered a delightful mix of Japanese and Western courses, all incredibly delicious. The comfort of the bed was also impressive! The Onsen within the facility alone was more than satisfying. It was my first visit to Dogo Onsen, and I would love to stay here again.

    Relaxation exuded by a long-established Japanese inn

    Thank you for your hospitality the other day. It felt as if we were within the precincts of a shrine, surrounded by large trees, and we enjoyed strolling through the serene garden. During our stay in the bath and the facility, we freely felt and enjoyed the relaxation loved by literary masters. The quality of the spring seemed similar to the water at the Dogo Onsen Honkan. It is about a 5-minute walk to Dogo Onsen Honkan. At the Sangaku of Isaniwa Shrine, which is a 1-minute walk away, I thought of the passion of Seki Takakazu and Yasui Santetsu from the novel "Tenchi Meisatsu" by Ubukata Tow. The splendid vermilion main shrine and numerous large ema made me feel the dignity of the people of Dogo. Thinking of days spent composing haiku, being absorbed in Sangaku, and enjoying the Onsen, Dogo Onsen is kind to people. I reluctantly headed home. There were many realizations during this trip that would not have been possible without Funaya. Thank you very much.

    Japanese cuisine is wonderful.

    I stayed during the New Year holidays. All the employees I interacted with provided pleasant service, allowing me to have a comfortable time. The dinner (Japanese cuisine) served in the room was very delicious, and I was able to enjoy a wonderful meal at the end of the year. Thank you very much. The only disappointing aspect was that when I entered the room and tried to place my luggage, I found a rather long hair on the tatami mat. Although I believe it was after cleaning, it left me with slightly mixed feelings, but the overall satisfaction exceeded that, so I would like to stay again.

    The hospitality was warm at the Stays.

    The staff at the reception, the restaurant, and the shop all provided warm service and greetings at this Property. The decorations inside and the garden were wonderful, and I could imagine that the scenery would be even more beautiful during the autumn foliage season. I would definitely like to use this Property again.

    Relax

    I stay several times a year. The front desk staff, restaurant, valet parking staff, and room attendants all greet you with a smile and clear responses. It's just the best. As for the meals, it's the same breakfast every time, but the fried eggs on the second day are a bit hard to eat, yet there's no complaint. The flower arrangements in the facility are always impressive. Thank you always. I return home feeling refreshed.

    It was good.

    The facility and building were well-maintained, and I had a very comfortable stay. Meals were prepared in the room, and everything was delicious. It was enjoyable to walk to Dogo Onsen and the shopping street.

    I was able to relax in a lovely Room.

    I was able to relax and unwind in my usual room after staying here multiple times! I highly recommend the rooms here! The food is also exquisite. This time, I had only Japanese cuisine, and it was truly superb! I wanted to express my gratitude to the chef!!! However, both my husband and I somehow felt that the service quality has changed a bit... For instance, elderly people were chatting in front of the front desk, and when moving someone's left-behind suitcase, there was no word of acknowledgment. People were entering the elevator first... It feels like the quality has changed a bit. Also, regarding the hygiene of the large public bath, I don't think it's appropriate to allow babies still in diapers to enter. They might be entering on their own, but I would appreciate it if staff could be stationed at the entrance to ensure the rules are properly followed. Inside, washbasins were being thrown into the bathtub, which made it feel unclean, so I couldn't soak in it. It would be helpful if there were staff at the entrance who could immediately address these issues. I love this property, so I hope for your kind attention to these matters.

    I was able to refresh my mind.

    I wanted a room with a Japanese-style taste, but unfortunately, only Western-style rooms were available, so I visited with a bit of disappointment. However, the room was spacious and quite nice. It was also close to the station and the Dogo Onsen Main Building, so I was satisfied. Thank you very much.

    The breakfast was very delicious.

    We stayed with three friends. The Room was spacious and comfortable. Two sets of yukata were provided, allowing us to enjoy our stay. The only minor issue was the slow lighting in the closet. The garden is very beautiful. Despite being in the city, the sound of the river is calming. We were very grateful for the accommodating car storage before check-in and after check-out. Above all, the food was delicious. Although it was only breakfast, it was tasty and very satisfying. Thank you very much.

    Wonderful staff and dining

    We stayed with a small family banquet included. During the meal, the young children were very lively, and while one was crying and causing trouble, the staff kindly soothed them with smiles and gentle responses, which was truly appreciated. There was an instance when the shower didn't work in the South Building, and a foreign guest who was sensitive to heat couldn't use the air conditioning, and access to the South Building was a bit inconvenient due to the stairs, so I reluctantly gave it four stars for that reason alone, but other than that, it was a truly wonderful stay and banquet. Everyone was very satisfied. The food, including breakfast, was also very delicious. Thank you very much. I am a local resident, but I would love to stay again.

    I was able to spend a relaxing time.

    The meals were incredibly delicious and of a high standard. As for the bath, due to the increase in foreign tourists, the manners, especially in the women's bath, were poor (the changing room was soaked), which was disappointing. This is not an issue with "Funaya" itself.

    The food is delicious.

    The meals, especially the fish, were delicious. Also, it was very close to Dogo Onsen Honkan and the Karakuri Clock, so the location was excellent.
