Thank you for accommodating us on short notice for my father’s celebration. He was truly moved. He also really enjoyed the Hotel breakfast and said he would come again on his own next time. Thank you for giving us such wonderful memories at the end of our trip. We look forward to staying with you again.

The staff at arrival...
The staff at arrival and at check-in were both unsmiling and unfriendly. I also wish they spoke Japanese more clearly so it was easier to understand. The food was not good. The breakfast buffet had only sweet pastries and salad, and the selectable main dish was also not tasty. The Japanese-style breakfast was better, but still not good. We added an extra bed, but it was very uncomfortable—hard and squeaky. It’s a shame, because the view is absolutely beautiful.

Stunning Views and a Bath
The view of Lake Toya was amazing. The bath Facility was also excellent.

For dinner, teppanyaki is the only choice!
We stayed for one night with our family during a trip to Eastern Hokkaido. We arrived early and were prepared to wait, but a staff member kindly asked, “Would you like me to take a photo?” They took several pictures for us, including some with Lake Toya in the background. These days it’s hard to get family photos unless we take selfies, so we truly appreciated it. We chose an ocean-side Room, and with the clear weather the afternoon sun streamed in. The view of Uchiura Bay’s beautiful coastline was stunning. We planned to relax in the Room, but after learning there was a park golf course on-site, we ended up enjoying it for nearly two hours. Our dinner Reservation was at 8:00 p.m. (we couldn’t get our preferred time even four days in advance), but combining golf and the bath worked out perfectly. For dinner, we asked—somewhat last-minute—to move our 8:00 p.m. Reservation to 8:30 p.m., so we expected to wait. However, everything was already prepared, and the chef personally welcomed us at the door—our whole family was surprised. The meal felt like teppanyaki with a French touch: beautifully presented, delicious, and made even more enjoyable by chatting with the chef. Before we knew it, two hours had flown by and we were the last guests there. They also offered drink pairings, which made it easy to relax and enjoy. For my daughter who doesn’t drink alcohol, the chef suggested grape juice—and that’s how I discovered grape juice pairs wonderfully with meat. For breakfast we usually choose Japanese food as a routine choice, but the bread served the day before was excellent. When I asked about it, I learned it’s baked in-house at the Hotel—so we had to try it. We chose the American-style half-buffet instead. It was great that you can choose from five main dishes; each of us ordered something different and shared since portions were generous. The bread really was outstanding (with many varieties), and I especially recommend trying their croissants—I went back for seconds twice. I wanted to give perfect scores across the board, but there were two points worth mentioning. First: after checkout—even though ours was the only car at the entrance—no one helped load our luggage into the car. Second: getting to/from the bath involves a long walk with stairs; it may be difficult for guests with limited mobility like my mother. That said, there was no crowding in the bath area at all, and I was impressed by amenities such as L’OCCITANE (while those in our Room were BVLGARI). The view of Mt. Yotei along the way was also truly spectacular. We would love to visit again soon.

There is a big difference in quality between the two Onsen. The front desk staff are cool and businesslike. The French restaurant has a great atmosphere, and the food is satisfying. The staff service there is also good.

During an otherwise wonderful stay, the only real disappointment was the handling of the Chinese dinner...
We stayed for two nights, looking forward to the wonderful location on Lake Toya. From the front desk service to the golf experience and reception, as well as the Onsen, pool, and other facilities and staff support, everything was excellent and we were very satisfied. On our first night at the French restaurant, we enjoyed exactly what we had hoped for: beautiful views of Lake Toya, outstanding cuisine, and refined yet warm hospitality. That is why the only truly disappointing part of our stay was what happened at the Chinese restaurant on the 11th floor on our second night. We were aware that renovation work is underway throughout the Hotel (until late November 2026), but we did not expect that the entire front side of the 11th floor—where the view is a key attraction—would be covered by scaffolding. At Reservation time, I would have appreciated a simple note such as, “The view may be obstructed—would that be okay?” When I asked about changing seats, I was brushed off with “We’re fully booked,” without any sense of apology regarding the obstructed view. I was also taken aback by being strongly encouraged to order optional items before any explanation of what was included in our basic course. The menu also highlighted expensive add-on charges in red, which made even a reasonably priced Plan feel inferior in presentation—something I found disappointing for a luxury Hotel. What saddened me most was how an incorrectly served soup was taken away immediately while I was already tasting it, with only “It’s a mistake” said in response. Even one considerate line such as “If you’d like, please feel free to continue” would have left a completely different impression. Afterward, when the standard soup was served again—and especially compared with what had been brought first—it felt even more ordinary. It left me feeling embarrassed and miserable for wondering whether I had been “too cheap” not to choose an option. Because we were so impressed by every other Facility and by so many staff members’ wonderful hospitality throughout our stay, this lack of consideration for both the view and certain aspects of service at the Chinese restaurant stood out all too much. It is truly my only regret from an otherwise excellent visit.

Perfect for a three-generation family trip.
We booked 2 Rooms for 2 nights. The Western-style breakfast was excellent, so we chose it again on the second day. Sparkling wine in the morning feels almost unfair (lol). For the Japanese-style breakfast, I mentioned a shellfish allergy, but whelk was still served, which was disappointing. It’s an older Hotel, but the Room cleaning was thorough. The food was delicious overall, so we were satisfied in total.

Outstanding hospitality.
The hospitality of all staff, starting with the front desk team, was outstanding. I have stayed at many Hotels, and this was the highest level of hospitality I have ever experienced.

The summit took place long ago.
The Facility is massive and solidly built. The driveway and lobby are truly impressive. Unfortunately, it felt like there was little trace left of the service and food from the Summit era. The service was neither particularly good nor bad. One thing that stood out was the French dining service. Perhaps they were short-staffed. They may have been busy, but everything felt rushed, and even the paired wine was poured in a hurry, dripping down the outside of the glass. One staff member did their best to explain each dish in broken Japanese, which made me want to support them—so I felt there may be an issue with a system that forces staff to rush like that.

Ratings may vary depending on the weather.
Although it is an upscale Hotel, staff service is not standardized across the property. An open-air bath is needed for both men and women. There was no typical Hotel bar, so we couldn’t have a drink before dinner.

We stayed in a Room ...
We stayed in a Room with a view of Lake Toya. From the warm welcome at the entrance upon arrival, we could tell this was truly a Hotel worthy of having hosted the Lake Toya Summit. Access from the parking lot to the Hotel lobby was convenient, and everything went smoothly after we arrived. We could enjoy views of the lake from our Room, and both the scenery and atmosphere were wonderful. The French dinner was excellent, and we were able to take our time and enjoy it. When our child became fussy during the meal, they kindly brought our dishes to our Room, and we were deeply impressed by their thoughtful care. Breakfast was also delicious, and throughout our stay we felt the high quality of service. They treated families warmly as well, so we could relax with peace of mind. It was a wonderful Hotel that made us want to stay again.

Some guests come to Hokkaido specifically to stay at this Hotel.
I have stayed here several times, and I’m always impressed by how hard the young international staff work, always with a smile. I’ve stayed at many Accommodations around Lake Toya, but the view of Lake Toya and Mt. Yotei from this Hotel is on another level—absolutely breathtaking on a clear day. Above all, I come to Hokkaido every year just to see this scenery. Until now I had always chosen French for dinner and Japanese for breakfast, but this time I tried Chinese dinner and a Western-style breakfast for the first time. The Chinese meal looked great and tasted great, and the portions were more generous than the French course (which felt a little small), so I was very satisfied. On top of that, it was served on an upper floor, and Mt. Yotei through the floor-to-ceiling windows was so stunning that it made for a truly healing dining experience for both mind and body. I would love to stay again. The Western-style breakfast was also excellent, including the selectable plate options. While the Japanese breakfast is on the first floor with almost no view, having Western breakfast on the second floor with views of Mt. Yotei was another plus. If possible, since we waited in line quite a while, it would be helpful to have some kind of system such as numbered tickets or pagers. Also, the bakery bread from the shop that I bought for the first time during my last stay was delicious—so this time I bought it again as a late-night snack and as souvenirs. I have quite a few thoughts about the large public bath area, but even taking that into account, it was still an exceptional stay—blissful moments that let me forget reality.

It was amazing!
This was a Hotel I had always wanted to stay at when visiting Hokkaido. We were all looking forward to it as a family, but our flight was unexpectedly delayed... We had planned to relax and take our time, but we ended up arriving much later than expected. Although we were disappointed, the Hotel staff kindly accommodated us by adjusting various arrangements and welcoming us warmly, which made us very happy. The views from the Hotel were also wonderful everywhere—at the lobby, entrance, baths, and our Room on the Lake Toya side—and it was amazing to watch how the scenery changed throughout the day. The meals were beautifully presented and delicious, and we truly felt like we were living in a dream. We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused during this stay, but we made unforgettable memories. Thank you very much.

The view is spectacular.
The views are absolutely wonderful, and all the staff are always kind and helpful, which makes the stay very pleasant. It’s a shame there is no Onsen in the Room, but I suppose it can’t be helped. The meals were also delicious, both dinner and breakfast. The portions were just right for me since I can’t eat a lot, and everything truly tasted great. What was disappointing was that the Room was extremely cold. When I asked about it, I was told that the temperature is centrally controlled throughout the building and cannot be adjusted by Room. Does something like that still exist these days? If you can’t change the temperature even in your own Room, everyone feels differently. It was so cold that I borrowed a blanket, but I felt like I might catch a cold. When I asked the person who brought it, they agreed it was cold and said the heating didn’t seem to be working.... They changed my Room for me, but even the restaurant and hallways were very cold—I wondered if everyone else was okay with it. Also, I was shocked that the TV in my Room wasn’t connected to the internet. I’ve traveled domestically and internationally over the past few years, but this may have been my first time.... Many guests likely want to watch Netflix or YouTube as well (including international travelers), so if possible, I hope this can be improved. Even so, because the views are amazing, everything is kept very clean, and the staff are excellent, I would still like to visit again!!!

A Summary of What I Wish I’d Known Before My Stay
We stayed in a Junior Suite for two nights during Golden Week. The Premiere valet parking benefit was smooth and convenient from the moment we arrived. At the pool, swimsuits can be borrowed free of charge, and since there were few guests, it was quiet and relaxing. The Junior Suite was not eligible for access to the private lounge, but we enjoyed a cake set at the café using the drink tickets provided instead. We also appreciated the newspaper service the next morning. The large public bath is inside the Accommodation, but it’s quite a walk from the Room. However, you can use it in loungewear and slippers. It isn’t very large, but around 3:00 pm right after opening and around 7:30 pm after dinner it was very empty and comfortable. The L’OCCITANE pump-bottle amenities in the bath were also easy to use. The view from the Room was wonderful—spectacular on clear days. On rainy days, however, everything was covered in fog and we couldn’t see anything. Housekeeping was thorough, but we felt some age in areas such as wear on the sofa and the quality of the extra bed. The Wi-Fi disconnected after a certain period of time, which made it slightly inconvenient to have to log in again. The French restaurant is extremely popular, and our preferred time slots were already fully booked when we made our Accommodation Reservation. I think it’s best to secure restaurant reservations at the same time as your Hotel Reservation. For dinner we used “Kogetsu,” which we had reserved in advance. Since we were traveling with an 8-year-old child, we requested a private room and they accommodated us at no extra charge, which was very helpful. At “Out of Africa,” we had a course featuring king crab and Ezo abalone and really enjoyed Hokkaido-style ingredients. For breakfast we chose Western cuisine. The half-buffet style allowed us to dine calmly, and everything was delicious. It also left an impression that they changed tablecloths for each guest—it felt very attentive. We stopped by the bakery that opens at 8:00 am after breakfast, but by around 10:00 am most items were sold out. Some Reviews made us a little uneasy beforehand, but in reality all staff were kind and welcoming, making this a truly enjoyable stay.

The view is spectacular, but…
The views from the guest rooms and the restaurant were stunning. We could take in both Lake Toya and the sea at once, and truly enjoyed Hokkaido’s great outdoors. However, perhaps my expectations were too high, but considering this is a luxury Hotel that was even chosen as a summit venue, I was left with concerns about the service and dining. Specifically: 1. Even though breakfast was ordered after we were seated, the omelet, salmon, and sausages served were cold and tough—I was shocked and wondered how long ago they had been cooked. 2. The wait at check-in was excessive. We waited over 10 minutes in the lobby after arriving, then waited again after being called to the check-in counter, and even after the procedure was completed we were kept waiting. In the end, a staff member who struggled to communicate in Japanese silently handed us our room key and left us there. When I spoke to a staff member who could speak Japanese, all I got was “Of course. Anytime,” without any explanation of when our luggage would be brought up. 3. After check-in, there was no escort to our room—no guidance on emergency exits or evacuation routes, nor any explanation about the room itself. This might be understandable at a Business Hotel or a budget property, but it was surprising at this level of Hotel. 4. Overall there were many staff members who did not understand Japanese; however, even asking in English did not necessarily help either. Although it was within lounge hours, we were refused service for coffee/tea in the lounge; when I asked why, they simply repeated “No more” in broken Japanese without any clear explanation—very disappointing. That said, some staff members were excellent: their attentiveness during the Shuttle Service by bus and their hospitality when guiding us at the restaurant felt genuinely warmhearted. The quality of service varied greatly depending on who you encountered; if you happen to meet one of those wonderful staff members, it may become a truly memorable trip experience.

With a wide range of outdoor sports and golf available, the cuisine is truly first-class. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast with genuine delight. A Hotel with Spectacular Views
This Resort Hotel, the highest in Hokkaido, stands atop a 625 m mountain at Toyako Onsen and offers breathtaking views of Lake Toya and the sea! It was so beautiful that I took an early-morning walk around the Hotel grounds. I was truly moved. No wonder it is a G7 Summit venue. The Onsen features a Sukiya-style large public bath and an open-air bath, where you can soak while taking in panoramic views of Toya’s magnificent nature. For dinner, we dined at the French restaurant “Gilligan’s Island.” I was happy that drink vouchers were included. Both the food and champagne were excellent. Thank you as well for the celebratory message card. The portion size was just right for me, but it may feel a little small for men. There are also tempting à la carte options available, so adding an extra dish could be a good idea. The Room service menu also included items such as seafood rice bowls. The pacing of each course was perfect. The staff’s warm smiles and service were wonderful. We had a delightful time. The fitness pool is free for guests, but on check-in day it is only available until 5:00 PM, so if you plan to use it that day, I recommend checking in early. The Windsor Hotel TOYA—an outstanding Hotel I will never forget for the rest of my life.

A Different Hotel Than the One at the Time of Establishment
I was looking forward to returning for the first time in 20 years, but I was disappointed. It feels like the Hotel has shifted toward inbound and group travelers; most of the staff seemed like foreign trainees, and the service was nowhere near what you would expect for the price. Even the Japanese staff were gathered in the lounge chatting—guests notice this even in the off-season. The breakfast is priced like a high-end city Hotel, yet for a half-buffet the selection is sparse; Hotels in Sapporo and Hakodate are far more lavish. On the other hand, dinner at Kogetsu was excellent—exceptionally fresh, carefully prepared, and delicious. The chef and staff provided perfect service. That’s exactly why it felt such a waste overall.

During snowfall, visibility on the road to the Hotel can be extremely poor.
I arrived around 2:30 PM, and while the visibility was clear at the base of the mountain, it became worse as I got closer to the Hotel. I had to drive very cautiously to finally reach my destination. It would be helpful if streetlights along the road were turned on during snowfall and if more red-and-white poles were installed. Perhaps this season is mainly for locals, and there aren’t many visitors using rental cars? Once inside the Hotel, everything was completely comfortable with an Onsen available, and the staff provided excellent service with a pleasant attitude—it was great but unfortunate about the journey. I’d love to visit again in a season without snowfall.
