    An Amazing Experience

    This was our first visit to Kachoan with my girlfriend. Although we had been to other Ryokans before, we were deeply impressed by the exceptional hospitality that exceeded the price. The nearby historic townscape was also enjoyable, making it a wonderful Ryokan. We look forward to visiting again next time.

    Hida Beef Feast!

    Stayed to celebrate my husband's birthday. He requested meat, so we chose the dinner plan featuring Hida beef! The shuttle service from Takayama Station to the hotel was very helpful, especially since we were traveling with a child. We arrived before lunch and wanted to try soba noodles, so we asked the hotel staff who picked us up for recommendations. They kindly suggested a great soba restaurant. After arriving at the hotel, we left our luggage and headed out to enjoy their recommendation. The soba had a rich flavor and was very satisfying; even our son ate heartily. After check-in, while receiving information about dinner in our room, we were served matcha tea and sweets—a truly elegant moment. The room was spacious and clean, with an option between futons or beds—perfect for families with children sharing existing bedding. We opted for two twin beds placed side by side, which provided ample space. Dinner exceeded expectations! From appetizers to the main course, it was all about Hida beef prepared in various ways—an absolute delight! Early in the course, tempted by its deliciousness, we ordered additional Hida beef sushi but realized later that it wasn’t necessary as the course itself was incredibly filling and satisfying. For my husband’s birthday celebration, I had pre-arranged a cake with a congratulatory plate. In addition to this thoughtful touch from the staff—including a letter and gift from the hostess—they also took photos (which were printed and framed by breakfast time) while singing happy birthday together with us—a truly memorable experience. The bath facilities included a large public bath in the main building and an open-air bath attached to another building; however, as the water temperature was quite hot, our child couldn’t join us. While amenities were well-prepared and changing areas cleanly maintained in both locations—the small size of baths in our main building accommodation made moving between buildings inconvenient if wanting an open-air experience—so I’d rate this aspect 3 stars. Overall though: exceptional hospitality combined seamlessly attentive service made staying here worthwhile—it deserves 5 stars overall! Would love returning someday should another opportunity arise at such wonderful accommodation again!

    Why is it highly rated?

    The location is convenient, with easy access to the morning market, Jinya, and old town streets. This is commendable. However, the Facility and service do not have any particularly notable features. The bath is small and divided into three areas. Crossing the busy road in front of the Hotel to access them might be uncomfortable for some guests wearing yukata or samue. A foreign guest I encountered seemed surprised by this setup. Additionally, there is no outdoor bath for women, which could be an issue. The food is neither exceptional nor particularly delicious—just average. It raises questions as to why it has a top-ranking evaluation. IKYU.com, please check thoroughly!

    I would love to visit again.

    A warm and welcoming Ryokan. While the building feels slightly old, it is well-maintained with thorough cleaning and fresh flowers placed throughout. The hospitality of the staff, including the hostess, is truly heartfelt. I only used the bath in my Room, but the water temperature, level, and design made it very comfortable to use. I would love to stay at this Ryokan again.

    Exceptional hospitality.

    Despite a last-minute reservation, the upgraded room was excellent, with a clean and spacious bathroom that allowed us to enjoy a comfortable stay. Above all, the staff's attentive service and hospitality were outstanding. The dinner was also very delicious. If I may make one request, both my spouse and I found the pillows uncomfortable, so it would be great if there were an exchange service available.

    Accommodation near the historic townscape

    Conveniently located near the historic townscape, this accommodation is perfect for sightseeing. The recently renovated room was very comfortable. Although the private bath in the room is not an onsen, it was great to use it anytime as it is available 24 hours. The services, including ice cream vouchers, were plentiful and satisfying. Thank you very much!

    The staff at the acc...

    The staff at the accommodation were all kind, and the meals were thoughtfully prepared to reflect the season, making our stay very pleasant. The onsen was also excellent.

    It was a satisfying accommodation.

    Although we arrived a bit early, the Shuttle Service from the station and early check-in were accommodated. The Room offered a great view of the magistrate's office and allowed us to observe the morning market from above. It would have been even better if the Room's bath was an Onsen, but with various perks provided, we were very satisfied. There seemed to be more international guests (mainly European) than Japanese visitors.

    Forgotten Luggage

    I was satisfied with the meals and facilities, and checked out happily. However, a few hours later, I received a call informing me that my luggage had been left in the lobby. Although arrangements were made to send it via cash on delivery, I later confirmed with my companion that it was luggage we had requested to be loaded into the car. The follow-up call did not feel like an apology, which was very disappointing.

    A Long-Awaited Couple's Getaway

    It was a rare trip for just the two of us as a couple. Although it rained on the first day and our spirits were low, we were delighted to find that our room had been upgraded to a suite. We enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful room and soaking in the Onsen, making for a very comfortable stay. The meals were luxurious and incredibly delicious, leaving us completely satisfied—we even ended up eating too much! The accommodation offered various thoughtful touches to enhance our stay, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and kind. It truly is a Ryokan where you can spend your time comfortably. Next time, we hope to visit with our children and grandchildren. Thank you very much!

    I would like to stay here again.

    The large public bath is in a separate building outside, which can be slightly inconvenient, but the Room's hinoki bath, atmosphere/layout, amenities, location, meal quality, and the staff's attentiveness were all excellent. I would love to stay again.

    First-Time Accommodation

    It was a wonderful accommodation with excellent service from the moment we arrived. The staff kindly helped us wear yukata, and they even adjusted the meals to accommodate ingredients I am not fond of, for which I am very grateful. However, just before checking out, while tidying up the room and passing by the slight step between the tatami room and near the window area, a splinter of wood (about 5 cm long) pierced my tights. When I cautiously removed it from my foot, there was still an uncomfortable sensation in my toe. Upon removing my tights, I found another splinter about 3 cm long embedded horizontally in my toe. Although I tried to remove it carefully, only small fragments came out at first, which made me quite anxious. Eventually managing to extract it fully revealed that it had barely pierced through just the skin of my foot; however, throbbing pain followed afterward and dampened my excitement for future onsen accommodation visits. Fortunately, as it was a cold day and I happened to be wearing thick tights at that time—there was no bleeding. Could this have been caused by pre-existing splinters? Please address this issue urgently so that others do not experience something similar. Nonetheless, thank you very much for your hospitality during our stay!

    Enjoy to the fullest

    We used this place for a girls' trip with my aunt. From the detailed guidance at the time of reservation to our arrival, including shuttle service from the station and arranging a lunch spot, we were impressed by their thoughtful hospitality. The decorations inside were stunning, and my aunt was thrilled. The food was, of course, delicious, and the bath in the storehouse was also wonderful.

    Accommodation in Takayama

    I visit Takayama about twice a year. This accommodation is conveniently located near the old town, making it great for sightseeing. The parking lot is a bit far, but if you park in front of the accommodation, the staff will take care of parking for you. All the staff are kind and leave a good impression. The room is spacious, clean, and warm even during the cold winter season. The bathtub was large enough for two people to relax comfortably. It's a bit disappointing that the room bath isn't an onsen, but there are onsens available in both the main building and annex. When requesting yukata robes, you can choose from many options and enjoy having them fitted by staff—it was fun! Meals change with the seasons, so even repeat visits offer something new to enjoy. This is an excellent accommodation; I look forward to staying again!

    The decor is exceptional!

    My son, who drives a slightly larger car, arrived feeling anxious as he couldn't find the parking area. However, as soon as we entered and saw the stunning display of Hina dolls, we were both amazed. Our two-person trip was all about enjoying the Onsen and meals together. The Onsen had excellent water quality. Although we had to step outside to reach it and it was snowing at the time, crossing the road took less than a minute—but an umbrella would have been nice. The meals were visually stunning and absolutely delicious. My son sometimes finds Japanese cuisine unsatisfying, but he seemed thoroughly pleased this time. We look forward to visiting again in a different season!

    It felt like a Hina Doll Museum.

    We stayed at Hirano-ya's Kacho and upgraded to the Nagomi Room during a sale. Although we avoided exploring the town due to snow, the two-room suite was exceptional and very relaxing. Since it was the Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival), the Ryokan was beautifully decorated with numerous hina doll displays, making it a must-see. The meals were elaborate and lived up to its reputation as an established inn. The only inconvenience was the limited number of outlets in the room due to its traditional nature, but overall, we had a wonderful time.

    I stayed at Hiranoya for the first time in a while.

    It was a stay after a little while. This time, we stayed in the main building, but we went to the bath in the annex with our family and enjoyed the onsen in the snowy scenery. The bath in the room was also excellent. Going to each onsen bath in the ryokan with family while talking and bathing became a very wonderful memory, healing both body and mind. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed a lot of great dishes with our family. The staff's service was very polite, and thanks to them, it became a pleasant and wonderful trip.

    Your trip to Takayama will become many times more enjoyable.

    I always use this Property for my year-end trips. The atmosphere, Room, and Onsen are all great, and I can relax very much. The meals, which use a lot of local ingredients, are really delicious, and I tend to overeat. I am always impressed by the attentive and warm hospitality of the staff. Staying here makes my trip to Takayama feel many times more enjoyable.

    Enjoy Stays

    I went on a one-night trip with my friends and stayed at this Ryokan. We had planned to go by car but changed to the train at the last minute, and they kindly provided a pick-up service from the station. The decorations inside the property, the food, and the hospitality made for a very relaxing trip. The location is also convenient for going out, but this time it was a trip to enjoy the Stays. Thank you very much.

    Early Winter in Hida Takayama

    I was able to fully enjoy it. I chose this Plan because I was unsure of my arrival time due to work commitments. Fortunately, I was able to have dinner, and thanks to the room attendant's arrangement, I was guided to the attached sushi restaurant and enjoyed it with my companion. The guidance for the morning market the next day was also helpful and courteous. Next time, I would definitely like to revisit with a meal-included Plan.

    I am completely satisfied.

    I stayed at Suite‐惟. In the morning, while reading the newspaper in the lobby, I was kindly told that I could take it to my room. This is just one example, but the staff's service, including during meals, was excellent. The food was elaborate and the seasoning was very delicious. The room was spacious, and I enjoyed the onsen as well as the 24-hour bath. If there is a problem, it might be that it's almost impossible to get a reservation during the Takayama Festival.
