    Last-Minute Stay Before a Typhoon

Due to the approaching typhoon, the beach and activities were closed. The pool was available except on the day of the typhoon. I checked out one day early just before the typhoon, and they did not charge a cancellation fee. The food was delicious. I would like to visit again when the weather is clear. I’m considering choosing this place again for my next stay.

    I stayed for a 3-nig...

I stayed for a 3-night Multiple Night Stay. I was originally scheduled to stay in an ocean-view room in the Bay Wing, but the day before arrival I was upgraded to Club InterContinental. My Room was on the 2nd floor, and rather than a true ocean view, it overlooked the golf course in front with the sea visible in the distance. If you change a guest’s Room, I would like you to either keep the ocean view or clearly inform them that it will no longer be an ocean-view room. Room & Amenities It was a twin Room but spacious enough. The soft lighting (including indirect lighting) made it very comfortable. The vanity/bathroom area and the living/bed space can be separated by sliding doors for privacy while bathing, or opened up for a more airy layout when not needed. I don’t think there was face wash among the amenities, so you need to bring your own. Service There is Shuttle Service from the Bay Wing entrance to the club building. After check-in, when going out and coming back, entering through Bay Wing and using the connecting corridor is easier since it’s air-conditioned. At check-in there was a welcome drink as you’d expect from a luxury Hotel, and I appreciated the attentive hospitality. Bathroom The bath was large and comfortable, but ventilation wasn’t great—humidity lingered after bathing and there was still a slight odor noticeable even the next day. Facility & Equipment There is a pool and many guests enjoy marine activities. Since it’s hot, I think many guests on a Multiple Night Stay use coin laundry facilities; however, there is only one laundry room per two floors, and there were only four machines in the club building. At night they were constantly taken, and since washing plus drying takes about two hours, even if one became available late you might not be able to retrieve your laundry until midnight or even the next morning. Other guests using them mentioned having similar complaints. Dining I ate out for lunch and dinner, so I only used breakfast. Guests staying in Club InterContinental can use both the club lounge and restaurants in Bay Wing. Because marine activities start early, it was great that SALTIDA in Bay Wing opens from 6:00 AM. Early mornings were quiet so I could pick up food without stress and manage my time well. Some items changed slightly each day as well, and everything tasted good overall. On my last day I had breakfast at the club lounge; it was set-menu style with some items (like salad and drinks) served buffet-style. The set menu felt slow to arrive—it's best to allow plenty of time if you plan to use it.

    This is my second stay.

This was my second stay, and I truly appreciated your hospitality. This time I stayed in an ocean-view Room. Compared with the golf course view in the club building I used last time, it was more reasonably priced, and personally I preferred the ocean view. I had a wonderfully relaxing time while enjoying the beautiful scenery. The Greek salad I had for lunch before check-in was outstanding. I also appreciated that you applied the guest discount even though it was before check-in—such a thoughtful gesture. The beer provided in the Room refrigerator was also very reasonably priced. Considering today’s labor shortages and how challenging inventory management and payment processing must be, I hope you will continue offering this service. The fruit at breakfast was all fresh and juicy, and I enjoyed it very much. Compared to my previous stay, it felt like there were more international staff members, but everyone spoke Japanese very well and provided courteous, heartfelt service. Thanks to all of you, I had another very pleasant stay. I plan to stay again next month as well, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Thank you very much.

    A Breathtaking View to Remember

It was my first time on Ishigaki Island, and staying at this Hotel was one of the things I was most looking forward to. The Room was spacious enough, and the view from the balcony was so wonderful that I can still vividly remember it. Also, during our email exchange with the Hotel staff before our stay, we mentioned it was an anniversary trip, and they kindly gave us complimentary drink tickets for the bar. Thanks to that, on our last night we were able to relax with wine at the poolside restaurant. Thank you for your thoughtful gesture. In terms of service, two experienced male doormen were very professional and left a reassuring impression. One issue was that when I took a shower first thing in the morning, the water did not get hot at all. Even with the temperature set to maximum—which would normally be scalding—it was still lukewarm and cold. Also, to be honest, the breakfast buffet did not meet our expectations. We have stayed at many Hotels on Okinawa’s main island, and perhaps those experiences set a high bar, but both of us felt disappointed with both the variety and quality. Overall, Bay Wing had a great view from the Room; the lovely pool area allowed us to unwind; and we could relax comfortably in our Room. We also appreciated how promptly and properly they responded whenever we contacted the front desk with requests. Next time, we would definitely like to stay in the Club building! We hope there will be various updates by then. Thank you for taking care of us.

The service used to be better...

I stayed here several times before COVID, so this was my first visit in over 10 years. Several new, higher-grade annex buildings have been added, but I was glad the main building—though renovated—still felt the same as before. Aging of the building is unavoidable, but it was clean and well maintained as expected. The pool and beachfront were also just like they used to be, which was enjoyable. However, the value for money is poor. Disappointing points: 1) The staff member who handled luggage on arrival only watched while we unloaded our bags. 2) I was surprised to be charged an additional Facility fee of 1,000 yen per person. Even if you don’t use the pool, it’s justified with reasons like garden maintenance, which felt questionable… The front desk explanation was also arrogant. 3) Of the two chefs making omelets at breakfast, the older chef ignored guests even when they were waiting. In contrast, the other (foreign) chef provided good service. The atmosphere is still what it used to be, but hospitality has clearly declined. I would like to see both customer service and overall service improved.

The location was convenient. There was a pool and a beach, and we enjoyed them. I understand the eco-friendly approach, but the amenities felt a bit lacking. It was nice to be able to enjoy afternoon tea and light snacks at the club lounge, but the staff service was not very good.

    An Early Summer Vacation

Before my stay, I received a pre-arrival confirmation email from the Hotel and replied as instructed. However, the Hotel’s response was very different from what I had written, which made me worry whether my email had been read and left me uneasy about the staff’s communication. Because a typhoon was approaching, I decided to return home early and changed my stay from 5 nights to 3 nights; the staff were kind and helpful at that time. I have stayed here many times, but explanations are often skipped because I am a repeat guest. There are still things I may not know, so I would like the usual explanations. It would be more convenient if breakfast in the club lounge started at 6:30 a.m., but it starts at 7:00 a.m., so I could not use it, which was disappointing.

    We stayed for two ni...

We stayed for two nights in the Bay Wing to celebrate my friend’s birthday. The building is new and sophisticated, and the open lobby really made us feel like we were at a resort—our excitement grew right away. The Room was spacious, impeccably clean, and very functional. As expected from IHG, it was excellent overall. I do have two points regarding hospitality that I hope you will consider. When I requested extra water and a skincare set, the water was provided, but I was told the skincare set is distributed free of charge at the Beach House and that I needed to pick it up by 5:00 p.m. Also, when I noted at the time of Reservation that this was a birthday trip for my friend, you kindly introduced paid options such as a cake. However, since we had planned to enjoy gourmet dining during our trip, we did not request any. If there had been even a brief comment at check-in or a message in the Room, it would have made the trip much more memorable for both of us—so it ended up being slightly disappointing.

I was very satisfied until just before the end, but the ending was disappointing.

Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay. The Facility was clean, and I was happy with the beautiful pool and beach. I have two complaints. Since we stayed in the Club building, we were generally satisfied with the 2.5 meals, but there wasn’t much time between afternoon tea and cocktail time, so we ended up not eating much during cocktail time. I understand those may not be meant as full meals, but I think it would be better if the schedule for each time slot were planned a bit more carefully. For breakfast as well, compared to the lounge breakfast, the buffet offered more variety and was more satisfying. And then, at the very end, something disappointing happened. We used the shuttle bus to the airport, but we were not told it was paid until right before boarding, so we had no choice but to pay and ride it. At check-in we were told there would be a return shuttle bus, but I don’t recall being told about the fee (though it’s possible they mentioned it). (The website did state that it is paid service, but I hadn’t checked.) However, since we had free tickets for the island bus system, if we had been informed earlier that there would be a charge—even just a little earlier—we would have used public transportation instead. Because everything else was great, it was disappointing that this happened at the end.

    The Bay Wing was great.

This time, we stayed in the Bay Wing. The Room was spacious, the building was new, and the open entrance had a wonderful tropical atmosphere. What we especially loved was breakfast. I’m not sure whether the kitchen is shared with other restaurants or separate, but the breakfast was delicious. The coffee was great, and on top of that there was an impressive lineup of TWG tea bags—excellent.

    I expected too much.

Quite average. I understand that deterioration over the years is unavoidable, but maintenance is a separate issue. I stayed in a corner Room. The balcony was dirty. Also, one side of the balcony had seating for two people, but the other side had seating for only one person. For meals, I used the breakfast buffet. It felt like a truly ordinary buffet. And with a 100% Cancellation Fee starting one month in advance—I don’t understand why they are so strict. I stayed because of the ANA name value, but it was nothing but disappointing.

Overall, many of the staff gave a rather cold impression. On the other hand, some provided wonderful service with a lovely smile, so the difference was striking. We were met with annoyed expressions, were kept waiting while staff coordinated among themselves first, and at breakfast our finished plates were not cleared for quite some time. I feel there is significant room for improvement in staff training.\n\nThe Room was also not cleaned thoroughly; a dried colored contact lens left by a previous guest was on the shampoo/conditioner shelf in the bathroom, which was unpleasant.

    Club Lounge

The club lounge and guest rooms had a calm, high-quality atmosphere, and I could feel the luxury and refined attention to detail in every piece of tableware. The complimentary soap gift each time also had a tropical touch and was a wonderful, special gesture. On the other hand, during afternoon tea, cocktail time, and breakfast in the club lounge, it was difficult to get a staff member’s attention even when I wanted to place an additional order, which felt inconvenient. Especially during cocktail time, despite the limited hours, it often took a long time from ordering to being served, so I couldn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped. There were many moments when I had to wait for staff to pass by or go over and call out myself. Since this was a time I was really looking forward to, I think it would have been more comfortable with a bit more attentiveness. That said, after checkout, I truly appreciated the staff member who kindly guided me to seating near the front desk and a place where I could charge my devices. In contrast, at checkout—even though I had suitcases—there was no guidance to the parking area or offer of Shuttle Service, so I ended up walking while pulling my luggage myself, which was disappointing. I’ve shared quite a few points here, but overall I was able to relax and take things slowly. As an IHG member benefit you accommodated late checkout until 2:00 PM (14:00), which made for a very good stay. I would like to stay again in the future and hope for further improvements so that guests can enjoy an even more comfortable experience.

I won’t be staying here again.

I stayed for three nights in a corner Room in the Ocean Wing. I won’t be staying again. At night, the microphone noise from what seemed like a group garden barbecue was loud, the shower booth drain was clogged, and at checkout I was charged to my Room for another guest’s expenses. Even when apologizing, the front desk staff didn’t look at me while speaking. My vacation was ruined because of the Hotel. I will not stay here again.

    An Extraordinary Resort Experience

I stayed in the Bay Wing. When sightseeing, I often choose a Business Hotel since I don’t spend much time at the Hotel, but this time I wanted to relax at the Hotel all day without sightseeing, so I chose this place. It was absolutely the right decision. The view from the Room was wonderful—I enjoyed reading and having coffee on the balcony, lounging on the couch, and truly unwinding from everyday fatigue. The Room was very clean and well maintained, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. The staff were also courteous and attentive. The beach is close by, and since you can enter the breakfast restaurant directly from outside, I could take an early morning walk, have breakfast, and then stroll along the beach again. When making my Reservation, I noted that I hoped for a good view and a quiet stay in the request section. Thanks to your consideration, I had both a great view and a peaceful stay, which made me very happy. I would definitely like to stay again. Just one small point: it was slightly inconvenient that women’s cosmetic amenities were only available on the way to the beach and in (or near) the pool changing room. From an SDGs perspective, I understand why they are not placed in each Room—and that is a good approach—but having to go pick them up after relaxing in my Room felt like a bit of extra effort. If they could be handed out at reception upon request, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hidden price increase

I stay here 4–5 times a year, but recently some services that used to be included at the same price (such as IKYU Diamond member benefits and access to the pool) have been discontinued or restricted, which feels like a stealth price increase. What I especially liked was being able to use the Bay Wing pool, but starting this time, Ocean Wing guests can only use the Ocean Wing pool, which was very disappointing. Whether by chance or by design (there was no explanation, so I’m not sure), my Room was a Corner Suite this time, so I was satisfied with this stay. However, from next time on, I don’t think I will stay unless there is a reasonably priced Room available in the Bay Wing.

    Not quite right.

Since we went to the pool and the beach, we ended up taking showers more often. We would have liked at least two sets of bath towels per Room. There was no one at the entrance, and when we left, after asking the front desk to call a taxi, we headed home without anyone seeing us off. It was our first time experiencing a Resort Hotel like this.

The unique charm of a traditional Hotel, along with hopes for further service improvements

[Breakfast] You can choose between Japanese and Western dining venues, and both offered a wide variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. After trying both, I personally found the Japanese restaurant tastier and more satisfying. [Guest Room] The building is undeniably old, but the room was thoroughly cleaned. However, I was shocked that no housekeeping service was provided on the second night. I understand that linens are changed every two days, but having towels and even glasses left unchanged was a first in all my stays. In the end, I contacted the front desk to request only towel and glass replacement, but it was very disappointing from a service standpoint. [Concierge / Transportation] They were happy to help with arranging taxis. The shuttle bus to the remote island terminal is paid; for a family of four, taking a taxi can be cheaper, so we mainly used taxis. If you are staying as a group, I recommend comparing transportation costs in advance.

    The club lounge is excellent.

This was my second stay at the InterContinental, and this time I stayed in a Club Room for three nights. The lounge breakfast was excellent and the service was very attentive, so I skipped the buffet and ate in the lounge all three days. It was wonderful. I’ll definitely be back!

    No description provided.

There was no information at all—from the Room details to the beach. Even when I asked, I was given incorrect answers. In the end, they told me nothing, so I couldn’t use the beach. I was sent to a different beach that wasn’t maintained, and even guided to places where you couldn’t see the ocean. They didn’t tell me what time the entrance closes. I couldn’t hear the dinner performance songs or see any fireworks. The operations were not functioning at all. The Hotel building itself is wonderful, but the staff are completely inadequate. It left me with a bad impression of Ishigaki. I couldn’t enjoy the sea at all. Also, my late arrival was because there were no ANA flights available—and despite ANA having its own Hotel, there is still no proper access route. It feels like nothing has been properly prepared for Golden Week, including flights. Everything should be redone from scratch.

It was perfect for traveling with our 1-year-old!

This was our first flight and our first trip to Ishigaki Island as a family of three with our daughter who had just turned one. We chose a tatami Room in the Coral Wing, and it was absolutely the right choice! Since you take off your shoes before entering, our daughter could crawl around safely. The breakfast buffet was also delicious, especially with a great selection of juices and fruit. The private beach was close by, we could use parasols and other amenities, the pool was spacious, and there were plenty of play areas on the property. We’d love to come back when our child is a little older.

I was disappointed because at the lounge afternoon tea, guests who arrived after us were served first, and we had to wait quite a long time.\nAlso, since it was during the Golden Week holiday period, cocktail time for families with children was held in a special venue, and there were fewer drink options and fewer food selections.

We recommend booking a room with Club Lounge access.

I stayed here a few years ago and really enjoyed the breakfast at Saldida, so this time I booked two nights with Club Lounge access. The lobby of this Hotel smells wonderful, and it instantly made me feel excited to be at a Resort Hotel. My main purpose was the lounge afternoon tea, and everything was delicious. The drink selection was also excellent, so I was very satisfied. All the staff were pleasant and overall I was happy with my stay, but it was a little disappointing that there were no amenities such as facial lotion in the Room (they provided them when I asked at the front desk), that the shower water pressure was weak, and that there were no bath salts. That said, considering I was able to stay at a good price using an early-bird discount, I think it offered great value for money. Next time, I would definitely like to have dinner at the restaurant. Thank you very much.

The club Accommodation is very good.

I’ve stayed at ANA Ishigaki Island before, but this was my first time in the Club Wing, and it was wonderful. The atmosphere was calm, and although I was a bit nervous traveling with a child, the staff were truly kind and supportive, which helped us a lot. Many guests also seemed warm and friendly—there were other families too, so we exchanged greetings, chatted a little, and even spent time together at the pool. Many older guests were also very kind to small children. My husband absolutely loved SALTIDA, the restaurant in the Bay Wing, and went there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (haha). I left our sleepy child with him in the morning and went to the club breakfast. The tea selection was extensive—amazing. As a tea lover, I also really enjoyed afternoon tea. Overall, the Club Wing was excellent. However, during the lounge interval between lunch and dinner time—when families should have been able to enjoy cocktails at SALTIDA—we ended up missing cocktail time due to what may have been miscommunication with the SALTIDA staff. Since it was our first time as well (and we were flustered with a child), we may not have explained things clearly enough… Still, it turned out to be nice that we could relax in our Room instead. In contrast, dinner at SALTIDA that night was fantastic—a “super star” service staff member appeared (lol), and both the food and atmosphere were great. We were truly satisfied. This trip included an overnight stay on Iriomote Island in between visits here—we stayed before and after—but next time we’d like to do a Multiple Night Stay so we can relax more and enjoy everything at a slower pace. Thank you very much.

Thank you for a wonderful time.

We visited during spring break with three generations of our family to celebrate our elderly parents. The upper-floor Room (Room 1) was the closest to the ocean in the Club building, and the view was amazing! The Room was spotless and beautifully maintained. For the other two Rooms, we were arranged a connecting Room on the 4th floor. They were a bit farther from the ocean, but we still had a great view—mainly of the golf course, with a clear view of the sea as well. We asked the concierge team in advance to help with Room decorations and arranging taxis and rental cars, and they handled every last-minute change perfectly. We are truly grateful. Breakfast and afternoon tea in the lounge were outstanding in taste, portion size, and presentation. We worried it might be crowded during spring break, but we never had to wait—everything was delicious and felt wonderfully relaxing. More casual, but breakfast at Saldida also had a great variety and was very good. The Bay Wing we booked additionally did not include lounge access, and the hair dryer was not Dyson, but otherwise the Room felt almost the same as in the Club building, with a fantastic view of a large pool right in front of us and the ocean beyond. Everyone at this Hotel was pleasant no matter where we met them—it truly felt like a wonderful Hotel because of that alone. With pools and beach right in front of you—and golf, spa, cafés, a convenience store, and souvenir shops on site—it’s extremely convenient, and everything can be charged to your Room. You’ll need 100-yen coins, but there are coin laundries on even-numbered floors as well, which was very helpful. The weather was bad both coming and going, with ongoing issues like flight delays and cancellations, but during our stay at least we had great weather—and all three generations were able to enjoy an unforgettable time together.

    Graduation Trip for Retirees

I learned that my colleague, who was reaching the mandatory retirement age for reemployment, happened to share the same interests as me, so we planned this trip to redo our graduation trip that had been left unresolved during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since I was entrusted with all the arrangements, I chose this Hotel without hesitation and booked a club-floor Room with a garden. For two of our three nights, we also arranged dinner inside the Hotel and enjoyed afternoon tea in the lounge. From the staff’s hospitality to the service in the club lounge and their attentive care at dinner, everything was so wonderful it felt like a dream. More and more Hotels now advertise that all their Rooms are suites, but even so, I’m convinced we made absolutely no mistake choosing this one—the hospitality we experienced here proved it. Thank you very much. In particular, thank you to the Yaeyama staff: your service was truly first-class, yet your friendly conversation made our time even more enjoyable.

    A Fulfilling Holiday

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days with our 1-year-8-month-old daughter and my beloved wife. Since our child is still small, we always choose a Resort Hotel. This one has spacious grounds and a wonderful environment for taking walks. The pool was also large, and we enjoyed it together as a family. Surrounded by lush greenery, it was very calming. The staff service was just right. Above all, the Japanese cuisine staff were truly heartfelt. They also upgraded our Room, and the view was great—it felt wonderful. We’ll be back again to visit.
