    A variety of baths and a relaxing time

    The accommodation offers multiple onsens within the facility, allowing guests to enjoy them at different times of the day. The room's bath was an open-air onsen and felt incredibly relaxing. There were also many private baths available, so I would like to reserve a different one next time. It is an accommodation where you can forget daily life and spend truly relaxing moments.

    The open-air bath in the Room was excellent.

    During my previous stay, everything was excellent, but this time it was a disappointing experience. First, the impression upon entering the room was that it looked different from the photos of the plan—dimly lit with almost no view. The private open-air bath in the room was good, though. However, during our meal, an older staff member who served us made loud noises while setting and clearing dishes for our entire family, which ruined the atmosphere. We were looking forward to enjoying a delicious meal but ended up feeling very uncomfortable. Having stayed at various ryokans and hotels before, I have never encountered such noisy service during meals. It was so bad that it lowered the dignity of Sagazawa-kan. That said, other staff members provided polite and pleasant service throughout our stay. I have given a strict review in hopes of seeing improvements in the future.

    It was a truly wonderful accommodation.

    Despite the busy year-end season, we were able to enjoy a very relaxing time. The baths and meals were excellent, and the entire facility was impeccably maintained, allowing us to spend our time comfortably. The beautifully arranged flowers throughout the property and their subtle fragrance added to the pleasant atmosphere. However, the complimentary coffee was slightly disappointing in taste.

    Evolved

    It had been a while since our last visit, but the facility and rooms have been renovated, enhancing comfort. The increase in private baths allowed us to relax and enjoy as a couple. The staff's service and meals were excellent, providing the perfect relaxation for our work-weary selves. If there was any issue, it would be that there were so many baths that we were busy trying to try them all (laughs). Thank you!

    The best accommodation.

    The excellent location and highly-rated cuisine were the deciding factors for our stay, and it turned out to be an exceptional accommodation. The food was just as delicious as the reviews mentioned, with beautifully presented dishes showcasing great taste. The bath in the room and the quality of the hot spring water in the large public bath were outstanding, and we enjoyed them multiple times. The "Hogetsu" room at Kogetsutei was a serene space with a wonderful view, allowing us to relax fully. We look forward to visiting again in a different season.

    Had a blissful time.

    The room's bath, the baths within the accommodation, the meals, amenities, room, bedding—everything was filled with thoughtfulness and approached from a customer-first perspective. There wasn’t a single thing that made us think “Oh, I wish this were different.” It was truly an impeccable and wonderful accommodation. What amazed us most were the flowers arranged not only in the rooms but throughout every corner of the facility. Beautiful fresh flower arrangements could be enjoyed everywhere. Walking down long hallways surrounded by numerous floral displays and their delightful fragrance... It’s rare to find an accommodation so abundant with flowers these days. While many places decorate alcoves with vases or figurines and hallways or landings with moss balls or bonsai—and sometimes even freeze-dried flowers—this place offered a refreshing abundance of fresh blooms that left us enchanted and happy. This visit was our first in about 25 years, but good things remain good no matter how much time passes. Having rediscovered its unchanging charm, we are already discussing when to plan our next stay at Sagazawa-kan! We look forward to visiting again soon!

    Fully satisfied with an Onsen indulgence

    This was our first stay at Sagazawa-kan, and we reserved the Arashiyama Room. My wife always prefers meals in a dining area and a bedroom with beds, so her wishes were perfectly fulfilled. The onsen facilities included four private reservation-only baths and four baths with alternating schedules for men and women, which provided immense satisfaction for an onsen enthusiast like me. The semi-open-air bath in our room was surrounded by autumn-colored maple trees and camellia hedges, with the Kano River flowing right nearby—a truly perfect setting. The meals were elaborate, offering more than enough for us in our later years to finish, but everything was incredibly delicious. Unfortunately, we were too full during breakfast to finish it all. However, thanks to the attentive care of the staff member assigned to us, we had an absolutely delightful dining experience overall.

    I have stayed here multiple times.

    I enjoyed the Onsen and meals after a long time. Whenever I want to relax, I always choose this Ryokan. The private open-air bath in the room is especially appealing as you can use it anytime without worrying about the time, and the indoor bath was almost like having it all to myself, allowing for a very relaxing stay. I would love to visit again during a different season. Although I didn’t miss my bus, there was a discrepancy between the departure time provided by the Ryokan (10:13) and that at the bus stop (10:08).

    Relax and indulge in Onsen bliss~

    I have visited various Onsens in Izu, and this Ryokan did not disappoint—it was an excellent accommodation. The meals were impeccable in both presentation and portion size, giving the impression of being carefully and thoughtfully prepared. Staying in a spacious room with a lovely open-air bath at such great value is truly surprising. Additionally, the fresh flowers arranged throughout the facility brought a sense of peace. If I had to point out one concern, it would be that the smell inside the facility was slightly unpleasant, so I hope this can be improved. That said, enjoying various baths was so much fun!

    Heartwarming hospitality to celebrate my 92-year-old mother's birthday.

    I have never written a review for any accommodation before, but this time I felt compelled to express my gratitude to Sagazawa-kan. This trip was a celebration of my 92-year-old mother's birthday, and we visited with a group of seven: my mother, my spouse and I, as well as my two younger brothers and their partners. My mother and we stayed in "Arashiyama," while one brother's family stayed in "Mokuren" and the other in "Kaido." My mother and I stayed for two nights, while the others joined us for one night. The open-air bath in "Arashiyama" was so spacious that it felt luxurious to the point where I didn't know where to sit when bathing alone. The meals on both nights were incredibly delicious with generous portions, allowing us to enjoy truly happy moments together. Above all else, we are deeply grateful for the warm hospitality extended by everyone at the ryokan. On our second evening's dinner celebrating my mother's birthday, your cooperation made our surprise plan possible. When we requested beforehand if it would be okay to bring sake from her hometown just for a toast moment during dinner—your team kindly agreed without hesitation—and someone who attended us over three days delivered it perfectly timed directly into her hands! At first glance upon receiving such thoughtful gesture (which she didn’t expect), there seemed confusion until realization dawned gradually followed by heartfelt smiles spreading across her face filled w/ joyfulness cherished throughout entire evening thereafter shared amongst family members enjoying even more delightful drinks offered locally including sesame shochu standing out uniquely roasted aroma flavor profile unforgettable experience altogether! Adding personalized dessert message bouquet presentation seamlessly executed precise timing prearranged requests fulfilled attentively despite busy schedules accommodating every whim sincerely appreciated enabling precious memories surrounding beloved matriarch celebrated meaningfully lasting lifetime impression left behind forever cherished fondly remembered always... Lastly though minor observation regarding farewell moment wondering whether kimono-clad individual present might’ve been Okami-san herself? Having noticed similar demeanor during prior summer visit alongside husband staying twice then too appearing somewhat stern expression perhaps understandable given immense responsibilities carried daily yet slight smile added parting scene could enhance lingering warmth overall journey reflection immensely appreciated future occasions bringing children along next time looking forward eagerly ahead thank-you once again wholeheartedly expressed utmost sincerity gratitude conveyed entirely deserved recognition bestowed deservedly earned acknowledgment rightful place deserving admiration respect accorded fittingly appropriate manner deserving fullest extent possible achieved successfully accomplished admirably indeed!

    Onsen Indulgence

    It was my first stay. Since the first night was at a Resort Hotel, I chose a traditional Japanese Ryokan for the second night. It was absolutely the right choice! Both the meals and Onsen were incredibly satisfying. I especially loved the "suki-ni broth" so much that I wanted to turn it into rice porridge—it became a favorite of mine. The bath was also very relaxing and enjoyable. I would love to visit again in a different season!

    For a peaceful retreat, choose Sagazawa Inn.

    When I want to escape from everyday life, I choose Sagazawa-kan. This accommodation offers a serene atmosphere where I can relax in a charming open-air bath and enjoy heartfelt meals, perfect for someone like me who prefers quiet over extravagant hospitality or noisy surroundings. I rated the facility 4 because I would appreciate having bath towels available in the large public bath and tissues placed not only in the bathroom but also in other areas of the spacious room. I was delighted to find that the amenities had been changed to L'Occitane. Thank you for your hospitality.

    I had a relaxing time.

    During my previous stay at Asebino, I had a wonderful experience, so I decided to visit this accommodation as part of the same group. The atmosphere was very calming, and all the staff were exceptionally pleasant. The meals were flawless in both taste and presentation—absolutely delicious. Since I booked late, only very spacious and excellent rooms were available... While I thoroughly enjoyed it, I think a slightly smaller room would have been sufficient for me. Fresh flowers were beautifully arranged throughout the hallways, and while relaxing on the riverside terrace, I appreciated how attentive the staff were—they quietly moved to another area while cleaning without disturbing us. I would love to visit again!

    Sagazawa-kan: A Haven of Tranquility

    Last month, I stayed with my husband and had a wonderful experience. This month, I returned with my sister to enjoy the delicious meals and relaxing Onsen once again. Each dish was crafted with care by the head chef, and we were thoroughly satisfied with the exquisite flavors. The Onsen, featuring natural flowing hot spring water, provided a perfect temperature for relaxation and warmed us to the core. The Room had a calming atmosphere that allowed us to unwind comfortably. One small concern was the cleanliness of the Room; however, this was more than compensated by the excellent meals and Onsen experience. The kind smile and attentive service of the staff who served our meals also brought us comfort. My sister was very pleased as well. We look forward to staying here again in the future!

    I had a relaxing stay.

    We were fortunate to find the perfect timing to stay at this accommodation. The private open-air bath in the room provided a truly relaxing experience, offering a deeply soothing time. The private bath was so exceptional that there was no need to visit the shared onsen, leaving us completely satisfied. The meals were delicious and visually stunning, though the portions were slightly large for our elderly parents. As for the additional option of the Ise lobster sashimi, it did not quite feel worth the high price, which was a bit disappointing. From what my parents shared, they felt it might be better to honestly decline such requests if they are difficult to prepare, rather than forcing the arrangement. Even so, my parents were very pleased with the relaxing time they spent at the onsen, and it became a wonderful memory for them. Thank you for the lovely hospitality.

    We will visit again!

    What impressed me the most was the fresh flowers beautifully arranged throughout the spacious accommodation. It’s rare to see such thoughtful touches these days, and they were done with great care. In the room we stayed in, there were flowers displayed in seven different spots! We felt so welcomed that we took photos of all of them. The room was spacious and had a clean atmosphere. Although I had read some reviews mentioning a musty smell and brought incense just in case, it turned out to be unnecessary. Both the private bath in our room and the baths within the accommodation were excellent. There were so many options that we couldn’t try them all, so we look forward to visiting again to enjoy more! If I may suggest one thing, having basket bags for moving around inside and colorful yukatas would make it even better. The meals were visually delightful and offered a taste of seasonal flavors. While parts of the building showed some age, it added to the charm unique to a ryokan. Although I usually like trying different accommodations, this is one place I’d love to revisit after a long time!

    A relaxing accommodation.

    The jade-colored flow of the upper Kano River is stunning, and we enjoyed leisurely gazing at it from the room or deck, or closing our eyes to savor the soothing sound of the stream. The deck near the rock bath is especially recommended on sunny days. The baths, including those in the room, were all thoughtfully designed and enjoyable. The cuisine was both delicious and beautifully presented. Even desserts, which can often be light in kaiseki meals, were made with full effort. While parts of the building show some age, this only adds to its charm and character. We were impressed by the hospitality of all staff members. From those who served our meals to everyone else we encountered, they seemed perfectly suited for this accommodation. We look forward to visiting again!

    Very good accommodation.

    The balance of the Onsen, meals, room, and the service by the staff was excellent, allowing me to truly appreciate the charm of a traditional Ryokan. However, when looking at Kano River, I noticed many broken tiles and deteriorated exterior walls. Although it is part of the backyard area, it is a view seen by many guests and felt slightly disappointing. That said, I would still love to visit again in another season.     We stayed as a group of three women. We were fully satisfied, enjoying the Onsen while experiencing the soothing sound of the river and true nature, along with a wonderful meal. The service was so attentive that we honestly felt it could be priced higher. We would love to stay again!

    Natural Hot Spring Bath

    Stayed at an accommodation along the Kano River in a room called "Arashiyama." The open-air Onsen with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source, while listening to the gentle sound of the river, was truly relaxing. All rooms come with private open-air baths, and there are also seven other options including a large public bath and free private baths—too many to try in just one night! This is a perfect accommodation for Onsen lovers. The meals were elaborate and delicious. I look forward to visiting again in another season. Thank you!

    We visited for the f...

    We visited for the first time in June, and since my parents loved it so much, we returned during the summer vacation in August. The atmosphere was very calm and serene, with no sense of pretentiousness. The fresh flowers placed throughout the spacious facility were incredibly soothing. The staff maintained a perfect balance of attentiveness and distance, allowing us to fully relax during our two-night stay. The Room's private bath was so inviting that we spent most of our time there despite the variety of private baths and open-air baths available. We even ended up taking naps! It might have been the most relaxing stay we've ever had. This was all thanks to the peaceful environment, the sound of the river flowing outside, the impeccably clean Room, and all of your wonderful staff members. We are already looking forward to visiting again!

    The photos on IKYU w...

    The photos on IKYU were so different from reality that it felt like false advertising. The entire building was old and smelled musty. The changing room for the stone sauna, which we reserved for an additional fee, was unbearably smelly. We couldn't enjoy the Onsen at all because there were horseflies and bees around, so we had to leave quickly. The sauna was a deciding factor in our Reservation, but it was only available on one side (male or female) with a rotation system, so we could only use it in the morning. There were also bees nearby, making it impossible to relax and enjoy. The food was mediocre and not worth the price at all. Everything about this stay was disappointing; I booked this trip as a birthday celebration for my friend and had been looking forward to it but ended up feeling very apologetic instead. It's puzzling why the Reviews are so positive—our total payment of around 100,000 yen felt excessive for what we experienced; 50,000 yen would have been more appropriate given the quality and service level here. I cannot recommend this place at all.

    Completely satisfied! Enjoyed a relaxing and comfortable time.

    We stayed for the first time as a family of three for two nights and had an incredibly pleasant experience from the warm welcome upon arrival to the moment we left. The hospitality, room, baths, meals, facilities, and amenities were all impeccable, making our stay truly satisfying. Our room was by the riverside, and while opening the window allowed us to enjoy the soothing sound of flowing water for a unique experience, it was too hot in August to keep it open. We look forward to visiting again during a cooler season so we can leave the window open throughout our stay. There are seven baths in total (excluding private room baths), including large public baths with alternating schedules for men and women. We managed to try them all! Each bath had its own size and atmosphere, offering a luxurious bathing experience. The meals were exceptional—featuring local and seasonal ingredients creatively prepared down to every detail like garnishes and sauces—making dining both enjoyable and delicious. The variety of dishes as well as their portions left us completely satisfied. Beyond our room, there were many comfortable spaces such as an outdoor onsen pool area, a lounge offering complimentary coffee, spots overlooking the river where you could relax peacefully, and rest areas perfect after soaking in the onsen—all contributing to an incredibly relaxing stay overall. We definitely hope to visit again during another season!

    This was our second ...

    This was our second stay following last September. Just like last year, the staff provided warm and attentive service. The room this time was on the second floor of the main building (?), and while there were some signs of aging, it was clean, had a great view, and we enjoyed a comfortable stay. There were plenty of baths available, and over two days—on the day we arrived and the next—we indulged in all of them for a full Onsen experience. As for meals, both dinner and breakfast were impeccable in terms of taste, presentation, and portion size—we were thoroughly satisfied. We visited during summer both last year and this year; next time we plan to come during winter or spring to enjoy a different season. Looking forward to staying again!

    There are various onsens available, and reservations can be made. I was able to relax and enjoy the baths. The meals were thoughtfully prepared and very delicious. I would love to stay again if I have the chance.

    Wonderful accommodation!

    Upon arrival by car, the staff greeted us warmly, leaving a great first impression. The room accommodated three guests with two beds and a futon. It was clean and well-maintained, featuring two toilets with hygienic disposable slippers. The facility's slippers had a name-tagging system, allowing easy identification even at the outdoor Onsen. The room included two refrigerators—one stocked with complimentary items such as three cans of beer, a 2-liter bottle of Mt. Fuji mineral water, and three bottles of tea—and another for paid items. There was also a Nescafé machine, Balmuda kettle, and two TVs in the room. Our private outdoor Onsen was covered for comfort and relaxation; while the large communal bath was excellent too, we enjoyed soaking in our private bath at leisure. Amenities included luxurious L'Occitane products in the room and MIKIMOTO shampoo sets in the bathroom for an added touch of elegance. Meals were meticulously prepared and delicious; during our stay in Ayu (sweetfish) season, we savored freshly grilled Ayu that was tender and flavorful. The dried Ayu served at breakfast was also delightful. This accommodation boasts exceptional Onsen facilities surrounded by soothing sounds of nature—rustling trees paired with flowing water created an incredibly relaxing atmosphere. The outdoor baths were particularly enjoyable alongside several other large communal baths available on-site. Surprisingly for summer visitors, there was even a pool where families with children seemed to have fun. One minor point: while plenty of bath towels were provided in the room to bring to the baths personally, I initially found it unusual compared to places where towels are directly available at communal baths along with laundry baskets for used ones—but this may be due to hygiene considerations given how immaculately maintained everything is here. We received thoughtful farewells upon departure as well. This is truly an outstanding accommodation I would recommend to anyone!

    The best Ryokan.

    Swimming in the pool during summer has become an annual tradition, bringing joy to the children. The meals are thoughtfully prepared with seasonal ingredients and are absolutely delicious. Additionally, the Onsen offers a variety of baths with abundant and high-quality water, providing a very relaxing experience that leaves you feeling refreshed. The staff at the accommodation are incredibly kind, making this Ryokan one of our favorites. Thank you very much!
