Luxurious Space
We enjoyed an extraordinary and luxurious time that felt almost beyond our means. Since all of us are adults and unsure when we might travel together again, we ambitiously planned a very tight schedule. However, after such a hectic journey, we were able to relax in a calm and serene space. It was my first time trying grilled salt-seasoned pike conger, and I was delighted to enjoy this seasonal Kyoto specialty that can only be savored at this time of year. Additionally, the thoughtful gesture of providing frozen water bottles and towels at checkout was greatly appreciated.

An accommodation that fulfills your desire to travel as if you're returning home!
I stayed with my elderly mother to celebrate my birthday. Although I thought it might be a bit too luxurious, the comfortable room where I slept soundly, the meals that delighted all five senses, the bath that warmed me to the core even though it wasn’t an onsen, and the thoughtful gestures from everyone at Hiiragiya, especially our attendant—all of these were truly wonderful! It was a calm and pleasant stay where I could spend happy moments. Despite being in the center of Kyoto City, stepping into this accommodation felt like traveling back in time to old Japan with only its best charm preserved. I sincerely hope to return again someday as if coming back home.

Not a lavish accommo...
Not a lavish accommodation, but a refined elegance built upon layers of everyday life. This is reflected in everything from the entrance, hallways, rooms, furnishings, to the staff's collective effort. Ranked among the top ryokans in Japan, yet it never feels imposing—just one "Welcome back" from the staff instantly puts you at ease. The meals are on par with Kyoto's finest restaurants. The bath, especially in Ohara-me style, features newly renovated tubs; surrounded by the scent of wood as you soak in soft water that feels like an onsen experience. Having stayed at many notable ryokans across Japan, I often feel the need to clear my mind by staying at Hiiragiya Ryokan. The library that wasn’t there during my previous visit was breathtaking—a small yet powerful A-un statue and exquisite Kyoto-style goldwork nearby exude sophistication. To all the staff members: thank you for providing such an exceptionally comfortable stay. I will return again soon!

Good location
I had the opportunity to stay at a Ryokan I had admired since my student days. First, I received an explanation about the entire Ryokan. After entering the Room, I was greeted by the attendant. Taking a look around the Room, everything felt so soothing. The dinner was absolutely wonderful. As it featured March's seasonal menu, I could feel an early touch of spring. Of course, breakfast was also excellent—there were so many side dishes that I couldn't even go for seconds on rice (laughs). The attendant skillfully gauged guests' preferences through conversation and made various suggestions with just the right level of attentiveness. Thanks to their recommendation, visiting a hidden temple turned out to be a great experience. I truly immersed myself in the charm of this long-established Ryokan. Everything was perfect—thank you very much!

Good evening! Thank you very much for your hospitality the other day. I am very satisfied with the courteous and considerate service. The dinner was delicious, with explanations that conveyed the personality of the chef, allowing us to have a wonderful time. Thank you. Before checking out, we were shown various Rooms and were able to fully enjoy Hiiragiya-san. Thank you very much. It was fun to find various hiiragi (holly). Thank you so much for everything.
