    The design feels outdated.

    There was noticeable aging throughout, including black stains and cracks around the plumbing, as well as the Room furnishings and wallpaper. The meals also felt lacking in care, and I could not find them tasty.

    Exceptional value for money

    I stayed here for one night on a solo trip. The glamorous entrance and the Room, which had a sense of history, were wonderful. The Room has a coffee machine (Nespresso), which is a welcome Facility for coffee lovers. It was a unique experience to have a step between the bathtub and the changing area. The Room was spacious enough for one person, and I had a comfortable stay. The futon and pillow also felt great, and I slept soundly. With excellent value for money and outstanding access to sightseeing spots, I would like to stay again if I have the chance.

    Consistently reliable service

    Thank you again for taking care of me. This time, there were a few moments that stood out. I stay here several times a year, and when my stays are close together, the front desk staff sometimes remember me and greet me with “Welcome back” at check-in. This time, however, someone who was not at the front desk addressed me by my last name and said, “Have a nice day.” When I returned from dinner, before I even asked for my Room key, they had already brought it to me and greeted me with “Welcome back.” It made me very happy. The pajamas I requested once before are always prepared for me now, and the items I’ve asked for are consistently set up in the Room when I check in. Also, the women’s amenities provided in the Room have been changed to a new brand—the fragrance and feel are much better. I will continue to make Reservations as usual, so thank you in advance.

    An absolutely wonderful Hotel in every way!

    I stayed during a typhoon, but the Hotel has an underground parking lot, so I was able to check in without getting wet at all. The Room was spacious, the amenities were well stocked, and the bathtub was quite large. Breakfast even included mango among the fruit selection, and the service was attentive—I was satisfied with everything.

    Completely satisfied

    I stayed here with my daughter who lives separately. It is a lovely, classic Hotel; the Room was spacious, the bathroom was large, and the amenities even included bath salts, so we could relax and feel at ease. Breakfast was excellent, with both Japanese options and a well-stocked Western buffet. We’re already thinking about when to visit next.

    Convenient in many ways

    I stayed with my high school senior daughter for a two-night stay in a Superior Twin Room with breakfast, while attending memorial services for my husband and father-in-law. As with Hotel Okura Okazaki Bettei from the same group, the bathroom had a spacious washing area and even a chair, so we were able to truly refresh. Both the Japanese set breakfast and the Western buffet were delicious. The location is great, with many places within walking distance. Having an ice machine in the elevator hall on each floor was very convenient for a summer stay—we could fill our bottle with plenty of ice before going out, which made Kyoto’s summer much more comfortable than we had feared. I was also happy to receive a single carnation arranged as a birthday touch, and by borrowing cutlery we could enjoy baumkuchen bought at the station and bread from a nearby bakery in our Room. The Nespresso coffee and Ippodo tea bags were also appreciated. Even the tap water tasted good. With warm hospitality and excellent value, this is an Accommodation I would gladly recommend.

    While the concierge service is excellent, the interior needs significant improvement.

    My elderly mother and I stayed for one night on August 8 and 9. We were not very familiar with sightseeing in Kyoto, but the concierge gave us various helpful suggestions, and we are truly grateful for a memorable trip. On the other hand, the Room key was difficult to use. The doors inside the Room were noisy every time they were closed. While bathing, the window remained uncovered glass, so we would like a way to ensure privacy. There is also room for improvement in the amenities, such as adding moisturizing cream and facial cleanser. We would appreciate your improvements.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    I’m glad we were able to stay at an affordable rate during the summer vacation period. The location was also convenient, and we could get to our destination smoothly. One thing that concerned us was that part of the bathroom floor had some darkened areas, possibly black mold. My wife noticed it as well, so we both felt the same way, and I think other guests staying in this Room may feel similarly. I hope this can be improved.

    I would like to stay here again.

    This was my first stay, and thanks to the warm, hospitable service, I had a very comfortable time. It is also conveniently located close to the nearest station and convenience store. The meals were delicious with a wide variety of options, so I would love to stay here again.

    An older Hotel, but a relaxing place to stay.

    Long-established, highly regarded Hotels have a wonderful atmosphere even as the building ages, and I personally like the comfortable, well-used feel. This time, since my family members who live separately met on site, we booked two Rooms separately. When I asked on the day of our stay whether it might be possible to have Rooms close to each other, they kindly accommodated us, and the children were very happy. It was also nice to sense the staff’s thoughtful care throughout. Breakfast offered a choice of Japanese or Western set meals; I would have preferred a buffet where you can choose exactly what you want to eat, but we enjoyed it—it was delicious and featured Kyoto-style dishes.

    A wonderful Hotel in Kyoto.

    The front desk staff were very pleasant, and although we arrived earlier than planned this time, they kindly accommodated us, which was a great help. Both the Room and the bath were spacious and relaxing, and it has recently become our regular Hotel in Kyoto. A wide variety of amenities are provided, so there is hardly anything you need to bring. The single-use N Organic items are especially appreciated for my sensitive skin. Breakfast is always a Western-style buffet, and every dish is delicious. This is a Hotel I would definitely like to stay at again.

    We arrived before th...

    We arrived before the check-in time, but were told we could use the parking lot, so we planned to park and go out for a while. However, a staff member at the entrance quickly checked for us and said it was fine to check in even before the scheduled time, which was very helpful. However, when I asked a staff member near the front desk what we should do with our luggage while checking in, they did not help at all—not even placing it on a nearby cart—so my wife and child had to keep holding it. This was the first Hotel I have stayed at where no one even guided my family to a sofa while I completed check-in with our luggage still in hand, and I felt the service was poor. The bed was directly in front of the air conditioner, so the direct airflow was cold (but turning off the cooling made it hot), and we ended up not being able to use one bed. Overall, it felt like an older Hotel with outdated Facility. We chose this place because although you cannot fill the tub and soak, the washing area and bathtub were separate. However, having the toilet and sink in the same space was not ideal. The bathroom cleaning could be improved.

    My stay after a year was wonderful, as always.

    The location and the Room were truly wonderful. The staff’s greetings and service were very attentive, and they interacted with us at just the right distance, so we were able to enjoy a comfortable two-day stay. While many Hotels are cutting back on amenities, I was happy that everything here is high quality and provided in the Room so guests can relax and spend time comfortably. This time we had lunch at the Chinese restaurant Hisuien, and both the food and atmosphere were excellent. It’s a place I’d love to visit again. Breakfast at Amber Court was also delicious. I will definitely come back to stay again. Thank you very much.

    This Hotel offers excellent service.

    We made a Reservation through IKYU for my supervisor’s business trip. From the time of booking, you kept in touch with us by email with great care, and it was very helpful to be able to confirm various details in advance. On the day of our stay, despite the last-minute request, you arranged a taxi and my supervisor was able to get in smoothly. The next morning was an early departure as well, but they were able to leave the Hotel feeling refreshed. My supervisor was truly delighted and said the service—from welcome to farewell—was outstanding. Thank you very much. We would love to stay with you again when visiting Kyoto.

    About the Guest Rooms

    The property was very clean, and we were able to spend our time comfortably. The room was arranged in a very user-friendly way, and the bed was comfortable, allowing us to get a good night’s rest. We sincerely appreciate it.

    The lobby is luxurious.

    Everything—from the lobby and elevators to the Room—felt luxurious and was very clean. I got excited the moment I walked in! I received an email shortly before arrival saying that a single flower vase and a message card would be placed in the Room as a birthday surprise, but there was nothing there. When I told the staff, they brought them right away even though they were busy. My 3-year-old daughter loved the pink flower and held it in her hand until we got home. Thank you for your thoughtful gesture. Breakfast bread was delicious. The coffee was Ogawa Coffee, which was another nice plus. The bite-sized croissant French toast was incredibly good—I went back for seconds. I had been looking forward to the omelet as well, but perhaps because it was a weekday with fewer guests, it wasn’t made to order and had been set out in advance, so it wasn’t hot, which was disappointing. The mango at the fruit station tasted really bad; my child took one bite and left it. It would be better not to offer it at all... The parking lot is underground, and being able to come and go freely for 2,000 yen per night was very convenient. The bathroom had a very spacious washing area and plenty of amenities. I also appreciated that you prepared a step stool for my child at the sink. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay—it became a wonderful travel memory. Thank you very much.

    A Relaxing Hotel

    Close to Shijo Station on the Karasuma Line and within easy reach of lively areas such as Nishiki Market and Kawaramachi, yet once you turn onto the street in front of the Hotel, it feels like a townscape that is quintessentially Kyoto, reminding you that you have truly arrived in Kyoto. The Hotel lobby is neither overly lavish nor sterile, making it very soothing. The Room was impeccably cleaned, and I had a very comfortable stay. The bathroom with a washing area was comfortable. From the Room, I could see a temple and mountain ridges, and enjoyed a relaxing time. Above all, thanks to the staff’s calm and polished service, I had a wonderful stay.

    The service was impeccable.

    A cane was available to borrow, which I truly appreciated. It made my own luggage lighter. While many Hotels have become more minimalist recently, the Room had a bedside clock, there was also a clock by the sink, plus a scale and a complimentary morning newspaper. I called the room attendant several times, and they responded quickly with no stress at all. It was very unusual—in a good way—that the single Room bathtub had a glass door instead of a curtain, and it was easy to use. I had lunch, dinner, and breakfast, and both the food and service were excellent everywhere. The cold-brew sencha tea from “Ippodo” that I made in the Room also turned out delicious. This is a Hotel I would love to visit again.

    After the scorching heat, enjoy the Yoiyama festival evening with wonderful hospitality!

    We left our Hotel in Hoko (Yama)-cho a little after 11:00 a.m. and arrived at Princess around noon. We planned to leave our luggage and head out into the scorching heat, but we were told, “Your Room is ready, please come in.” I had been wondering how to spend the time until 3:00 p.m. in the intense heat during the Yoiyama of the latter festival, so this was a huge help. We were able to relax comfortably in the Room before heading out for Yoiyama. It truly helped us a lot. Thank you very much.

    The best.

    The breakfast at Sagano was excellent. I appreciated the Japanese-style bathroom where you can wash outside the bathtub. It would be better if the parking fee for two days, 5,000 yen, were a little cheaper. Overall, including the location, it was very comfortable and easy to stay.

    Impressive.

    While the Facility felt a bit dated, the hospitality and quality of service more than made up for it. Conveniently located in central Kyoto, it offers excellent access. This is one of the places I would like to stay at again in the future.

    A luxury Accommodation inspired by the best of the 1990s, embracing Kyoto’s Hoko-machi neighborhood.

    It’s true that the Rooms that haven’t been renovated do show their age. However, even in the finer details—exposed ceiling beams, headboards, and the marble used on the living-area corner table—you can feel the spirit of “the era when Japan could spend money on Hotel architecture,” dating back to its early-1990s completion. After staying at this Hotel, when you visit other Hotels “built after 2000 that look luxurious at first glance but use cheap materials in the details,” you end up thinking, “I want to go back to Nikko Princess.” Despite being completed in 1994, it already has features that later became popular at well-known Hotels: - A Japanese-style bathroom with a separate washing area - Easy-to-use faucets and fixtures around the water areas - (As is true at other Nikko properties) amenity bottles with key information like “Shampoo” printed in large letters There are many things today’s self-proclaimed top luxury Hotels—starting at “¥200,000 per night!”—could learn from this Hotel. Even in the most basic Room: - There is a Nespresso machine - There are bamboo foot rollers (aotake stepping sticks) - The refrigerator is about twice the size of a typical Hotel fridge (and can easily fit an ice bucket) - The small cube cushion (about 10 cm per side) on the living-room sofa—maybe lumbar support?—feels wonderfully comfortable when sitting Given its location in Hokomachi and its excellent dining options (Japanese, Western, Chinese, teppanyaki, and a bar), plus banquet halls and full doorman/bell service as a full-service Hotel, having prices in this range feels like a miracle of an Accommodation—perhaps only possible because of a sense of “we’re sorry it’s an older building.” If you think, “I absolutely can’t stand old-fashioned Rooms,” I recommend staying on a renovated floor—you’ll see just how fair-minded this Hotel is compared with other “self-proclaimed luxury Hotels that are simply expensive.” These days many renovations result in places that look new but are downgraded with cheaper interiors and furniture; here, the renovated Rooms clearly make good use of what was great about the original design. I felt pride befitting “the only full-service Hotel in Hokomachi.” I was also surprised by how delicious Amber Court’s curry was—I ordered it expecting just a light meal. Beyond its deep connection with Hoshozan, this Accommodation also plays an important role: it safeguards the sacred rope used for marking off boundaries—the one cut by the Chigo atop Naginata-boko during Saki Matsuri—from Yasaka Shrine until the day of the Saki Matsuri yamahoko procession. You could even say Saki Matsuri wouldn’t be possible without this Hotel.

    I was satisfied.

    As expected from a Nikko group Hotel, the hospitality and Room cleaning were excellent, and we were very satisfied. Perhaps because it was during the Gion Festival, the front desk staff wore yukata, which created a wonderful atmosphere. The parking hours were also generous—from 1:00 PM on the check-in day to 12:00 PM on the check-out day—so we could take our time sightseeing. The parking spaces were wide and easy to use, which was another plus. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet, with a great selection of Kyoto ingredients and dishes. Thank you very much.

    It was comfortable.

    I stayed in an east-facing Room on the 14th floor. The cleaning was excellent, and the view was great, so I had a very comfortable stay. The bathroom was also spacious, and it had a shower chair and wash basin, which made it feel like being at home. Many recent Hotels have rooms where the light switches and air-conditioning control panels glow brightly in green or white, but here everything could be turned off from one place and nothing stayed lit, so for the first time in a while I was able to sleep without an eye mask. I also used the cafe on the first floor to meet someone, and it was very comfortable as well. I would like to stay here again if I have another opportunity.
