    Suite Room

We stayed in the suite with five people. The bedroom was comfortable, but the Japanese-style room was disappointing and far from what you would expect of a “suite.” The ceiling, walls, and other areas need renovation. The washroom also felt dated. There was too much difference in quality to split the room rate equally among five people. Whoever slept in the Japanese-style room was unlucky.

    A Long-Awaited Couples’ Getaway

We requested the Shuttle Service from Gora. Although we arrived 20 minutes early, there was a severe thunderstorm, and even though the pickup point had a roof, we still got wet. The people waiting around us were guests of other accommodations, and their shuttles came frequently and quickly took them away one after another. In the end, only we were left, and we started to worry whether our pickup would come at all, especially in the storm. The shuttle arrived about 5 minutes before the scheduled time, but since other facilities seemed to run frequent shuttle runs, it made us uneasy about the level of service going forward. Our Room included an open-air bath, but there was no shower or washing area there. We had to wash in the indoor bathroom and then walk through the bedroom to reach the open-air bath, which felt inconvenient. Even without a shower, it would have been helpful to have items like a wash bucket. That said, it wasn’t all negative. The hospitality was excellent—especially during meals with guidance and assistance. Although many guests seemed to be international visitors, the staff were extremely polite and pleasant, which gradually turned our initial negatives into positives. You can make up for missing items elsewhere, but human relationships are not so easily replaced—and this place had something that could turn a negative experience into a positive one. We went home with good memories.

    It’s great that dinner isn’t a buffet!

Herbal medicinal teas before and after meals are also a nice touch. At dinner, you can drink as much as you like of your preferred beverages, including alcohol, and every dish was truly delicious. Although we stayed on a weekday, they kindly served us the weekend-only sashimi as well, which we enjoyed with fresh wasabi! The baths were crowded, so we couldn’t relax as much as we’d hoped, but overall we were satisfied. However, it was disappointing that the futon in the Japanese-style room was quite thin.

It was a relaxing Accommodation where I could fully enjoy my solo trip.

I decided on a solo overnight trip to Hakone and made a Reservation two days in advance. I was surprised by how quickly the reservations staff called to confirm. Regarding ingredients I can’t eat in the dinner menu, unfortunately they couldn’t accommodate changes, so my only option was simply not to eat those items. From that, I guessed the set dinner might be prepared at a central kitchen and delivered. The menu listed details, so I was able to identify the ingredients I wanted to avoid. Most of the dining staff were non-Japanese staff who spoke Japanese fluently, which somehow made it feel like staying at an Asian-themed Accommodation (not a negative point). There is no open-air bath, but the indoor bath was spacious and relaxing (maybe because it was a weekday?). My favorite spot was the lounge where herbal teas and drinks were available—it was perfect for unwinding. In the evening, taking a bath and then spending some quiet time before dinner felt wonderfully elegant. The Room was almost too large for one person (I had a four-person room all to myself), and the bed was very comfortable. As it was a corner room, it was quiet, and when I stepped out onto the terrace I could look up at the full moon. From the large east-facing window, I enjoyed watching dawn color the sky and then seeing Hakone’s forested mountains gradually covered in mist. Breakfast had neither too much nor too little variety. After an indulgent dinner (with all-you-can-drink), having rice porridge and scooped tofu felt gentle on my stomach. That said, some of the side dishes gave me the impression they may have been pre-prepared elsewhere rather than cooked on-site (not certain—just my personal impression). About Shuttle Service: after checkout it runs by reservation only with designated times. I booked at check-in; 11:00 is the last slot. Since I wanted to take a morning walk around Gora Park, I chose 11:00. After checking out just after 9:00, I had about an hour and a half to stroll through the park during its calmest hours, which was great. They kept my luggage at reception so I could head out hands-free. The Shuttle Service ride from/to the station takes about five minutes—very close by. From Gora Station there’s a steep uphill climb so using Shuttle Service is recommended; on return it’s downhill, so if you can manage your luggage you can also walk back to station. I managed three baths during my stay; with two meals included plus plenty of time relaxing in lounge—and even enjoying full moon from my Room—it turned into an ideal holiday for me.

    Not great.

This time, I stayed in a Room with a private open-air bath. To be honest, the Facility feels old, and even the Room’s auto-lock seems like an add-on, so it doesn’t feel worth the price. The one good point is that the meals are fairly tasty. Also, although the Hotel information says “all-inclusive,” it is not. The in-room refrigerator had only one 2L bottle of water, and there were no snacks. The dining menu says “all-inclusive,” but meals are limited to 90 minutes—this would normally be described as a 90-minute all-you-can-drink plan, not all-inclusive. There is also only about one option per type of alcohol, and there are no drinks provided for enjoying in your Room. The large public bath and sauna are about the size of a larger Dormy Inn; however, the Facility is old and the water temperature is too hot (43°C). With even the indoor bath at this temperature, it wasn’t very comfortable. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a scam, but I won’t return. If IKYU lists this property as “all-inclusive” in its search filters, it honestly affects credibility and also lowers trust in other listed properties. I think it should be listed only after thorough verification.

I’ve stayed here several times, and this time I booked a Multiple Night Stay because I wanted to visit Gora Park next door to the Hotel. After check-in, I relaxed in the lounge with herbal tea, fruit liqueur, and sweet treats. The meals afterward and the Onsen (I was happy they had a vinegar drink) were also delicious. However, regarding meals during a Multiple Night Stay: for dinner, although there was some consideration such as different appetizers, the main rice dish and meat were the same. Also, the breakfast buffet did not change at all between days, which was a bit disappointing for a Multiple Night Stay. Still, at check-in the staff were very courteous even when assisting via mobile device, and the cleaning staff greeted us pleasantly as well, making it a relaxing and enjoyable trip. I’d like to stay again at a different time of year. Thank you for your hospitality.

    I was satisfied.

There was a half-height partition wall between the bed and the sofa, which created a calm atmosphere, and the Room was clean.\nThe outdoor deck felt a bit old.\nThe meals were delicious for both breakfast and dinner.\nI’ve stayed at many Accommodations before, but this was my first time seeing a medicinal cuisine bar, and I think it’s popular with women.\nIt was also convenient that the cable car to Owakudani had a station just a short walk away.

Thank you for letting me stay at an Accommodation I’d been wanting to visit for a long time at an affordable price through this site. The all-inclusive offerings included gentle medicinal herbal tea and sweets, as well as fruit wine and liqueurs. The meals were comforting, easy on the stomach, and delicious—especially the corn soup, which was outstanding! I felt heartfelt hospitality throughout my stay, and I’m truly grateful for a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

    Thank you for your support.

We had a very pleasant stay at this Accommodation—everything from the service and the Onsen to the meals was excellent. We especially enjoyed the thoughtful touches, such as the medicinal cuisine corner. My husband was injured due to our carelessness, and we are truly sorry for any trouble we caused everyone. Thank you very much.

    Towel rental

When I told them I sweat at night and asked to borrow a towel, I was told it would cost 150 yen. The towel wasn’t very clean, and they said I couldn’t take it home either, which was disappointing. I don’t think I’ll stay there again.

    Good value for the price.

I decided to make a last-minute same-day Reservation and go. Since I had a one-year-old child with me, I really appreciated that children were welcome. It felt worth the price, and there were many younger guests. I think it’s a good place for a date for young couples. The food was tastier than I expected. The complimentary ice cream at the large public bath was a nice touch.

Accommodation near Gora Station with excellent cost performance

Stayed for one night on a weekday in late December. Since it is not a large accommodation, it was quiet and peaceful, allowing for a relaxing stay. The room was clean and spacious enough beyond the bed area to feel comfortable. While there is a bath in the room, the large communal bath on the basement floor was clean with excellent water quality, highly recommended. As an Onsen enthusiast, I found myself soaking multiple times. Meals are served at the restaurant on the first floor—dinner was a course meal while breakfast was buffet-style. The dishes were made with carefully selected ingredients and were delicious. A unique feature of this accommodation is that beverages are all-inclusive, so you can enjoy alcoholic drinks without hesitation. Additionally, there is an herbal bar next to the restaurant where you can freely enjoy various herbal teas, liqueurs, coffee, and more at any time. Although accommodation fees have risen due to recent inflation trends, this place offers great value for money with its convenient location near the station and excellent cost performance overall.

Unusual dishes that lack flavor. Rude staff.

The dinner started with a plate of appetizers featuring unique and creative dishes rarely seen, which were visually delightful and raised expectations for the following courses. The fish dish was cooked in front of us using alcohol fuel, along with a hitsumabushi-style dish on the lower tier, which was quite interesting. Both the sea bream and shrimp were delicious. However, the wagyu beef dish used thinly sliced beef, which felt like a waste of such high-quality meat. On the second night, while the appetizers differed from those on the first night and were enjoyable, most subsequent dishes were similar with only slight variations. It would have been better to see more variety. Overall, it seemed that too much emphasis was placed on creating unusual dishes at the expense of flavor. Given that there is a medicinal herb bar available, I assumed this to be a health-conscious Hotel; however, I found it odd that only white rice was served at breakfast without any brown rice options. At breakfast buffet service here, trays are not provided to guests. Unaware of this rule, I picked up an available tray but had it forcibly taken away by an employee in an extremely rude manner. If trays are not meant for guest use, clear explanations should be given along with proper signage near tray storage areas (for staff use). The reason behind prohibiting tray usage remains unclear as nearly all other Hotels allow them. While there seems to be an outdoor bath in the women’s section of the public bath area, there wasn’t one available in the men’s section.

    Family Trip

Located next to Hakone Gora Park, this is my third stay due to its excellent location. The Room is clean, and I always look forward to the wide variety of healthy teas available. However, the breakfast has changed from their signature oyakodon to a buffet, which was slightly inconvenient due to poor layout. The staff were kind and helpful.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay. The meals were delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that drinks were free under the all-inclusive plan, as I hadn't realized this when making the Reservation. However, it was disappointing that the faucet in the Room's sink was difficult to use compared to modern ones (perhaps due to aging?).

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, allowing for a relaxing stay. Both breakfast and dinner were extremely delicious. The staff were all very pleasant. I was surprised that soft drinks and alcoholic beverages were available in a drink bar format. Since the food was so good, I ended up drinking quite a lot. There was also a room with herbal tea where you could make your own blend, which was enjoyable and created a relaxing atmosphere. However, the bath area had only about four washing stations, making it very crowded. Additionally, the bathwater temperature was lukewarm, and the shower water pressure was low, making it difficult to use comfortably. Please consider improving these aspects. The most disappointing issue was with the entrance door of my room—it was broken. The doors at this accommodation do not use keys or card keys; instead, you enter by inputting a passcode on a touch panel to unlock it. Once inside the room, you press a button from within to lock it manually. When leaving the room and closing the door behind you, it is supposed to lock automatically. However, my door did not lock automatically as expected; instead, an alarm sound would go off repeatedly without properly closing or locking itself—making it impossible for me to leave securely during outings! I called staff via intercom regarding this problem—and eventually—a young female employee arrived but seemed indifferent while inspecting wiring near its touch panel mechanism before simply handing over physical key replacements saying “use these instead.” No apologies whatsoever nor any sense-of-empathy shown throughout interaction left me feeling disappointed overall! Hoping next time everything runs smoothly without inconvenience!

2 nights and 3 days in November for 4 adults - An Adult Field Trip

Stayed for 2 nights and 3 days with 4 adults during the November 1-3 holiday. The room had two adult-sized bunk beds, a spacious layout, and an open-air bath on the balcony. However, as the bath required manually filling it with water each time and it was cold, we did not use it. It didn’t seem to be an Onsen. Although advertised as all-inclusive, on the first night there were beers and various liqueurs available; however, on the second night, there were none at all despite checking at different times. The drinks during meals were decent overall. However, dinner felt rushed as many dishes were served in a short period of time, leaving us feeling full quickly without much relaxation. The breakfast venue was the same as dinner but felt cramped due to overcrowding and lacked a calm atmosphere. As for Onsen facilities, the public bath was relatively small with no open-air bath available—leaving something to be desired. Check-in and check-out were self-service with minimal interaction with staff. Considering current inbound tourism trends and timing, I found the cost-performance ratio fairly reasonable overall.

    First Trip to Hakone

Selected from IKYU's recommendations. The parking lot is not very spacious, so it was convenient to use a rental car this time; it might be challenging with a private car. Dinner was very delicious, but breakfast was simple and disappointing. The view from the Room was also disappointing as it was just overgrown with trees.

We stayed here for a couple's trip. The ability to enjoy alcohol at the herbal bar was excellent. However, while there were alcoholic beverages, the snacks provided were only sweet cookies. Personally, I think it would be nice to have some salty options as well. I drank the water from the refrigerator and offered to pay for it at checkout, but I was informed that it was complimentary. It might have been mentioned on the Facility's website, but I couldn't find it as I wasn't sure which site to check based on the guidance provided. Additionally, there was a barcode scanner installed during check-in; however, if the previous guest does not press a "Return to TOP" (?) button after scanning their information, their details remain visible on screen. In my case, since the person before me did not reset or clear their session properly, their Room number and password screen were still displayed when I approached—this felt like a security risk to me. Overall, I felt that these systems lacked sufficient consideration for user experience and safety.

    We had a great time.

I stayed with my elementary school-aged daughter. Although our check-in was after 6 PM and the stay was short, we had a fulfilling time. The small size of the Hotel made it convenient to move around, such as to the bath and dining area.

    Second Visit

This was my second visit since last year. The Room was spacious and had a sense of openness, with a great view from the window. The bath was slightly hot, and while it was nice, it would have been even better with an open-air bath. The changing room was not very spacious, so it might require waiting during busy times. The herbal bar had a nice atmosphere, and I loved that tea was all-you-can-drink—it became one of my favorite spots. The meals were delicious, but last year, breakfast was individually served for each guest. This year, it was a buffet in a smaller space, and there were no trays, so everyone was going back and forth, which felt a bit chaotic. I hope the buffet can be reconsidered.

    Onsen

Affordable and featuring medicinal cuisine, I thought it was a hotel that would appeal to women. Perhaps because of this, the women's large public bath lacked enough washing areas, leading to women standing naked in line waiting for their turn. Unless the women's large public bath is renovated, I don't think I would stay here again. I stayed in a room with an open-air bath, but since it was not an onsen, I only used it once as I wanted to experience an onsen while in Hakone. The check-in and check-out process using a QR code was educational. While I think such facilities will increase in the future, I found it both convenient and a bit lonely.

    Clean, delicious, spacious

Check-in can be completed with a QR code sent in advance, the room was spacious, and the bathroom, including the changing area, was clean. The meals were delicious, but the highlight was definitely the herbal bar. I wasn’t particularly health-conscious and thought I might just have coffee instead of using it before my stay. However, after dinner, I noticed that the exit route from the restaurant was different from when entering. As I followed it out of curiosity, I stumbled upon an impressive herbal bar setup! Various fragrant herbs were displayed in jars for sampling and experimenting with different scents. I chose apple cinnamon, chamomile, and coconut to create my own tea bag to enjoy back in my room by adding hot water. In addition to this experience, there were vinegar drinks available in a refrigerator at the large public bath’s changing area; during my visit it was grape vinegar juice which tasted amazing! Even though I forgot hair oil during this trip, using their ReFa hair dryer left my hair smoother than usual. The only downside was that I couldn’t fully understand some of the explanations about dishes provided by international staff during meals—so I'll give 4 stars—but overall it was such a great experience that I'd love to stay again!

    Gora's Slopes

The slopes of Gora are more challenging than expected. We reversed the Hakone Golden Route with my mother. We got off at Hakone Tozan Cable Car "Koen-Shimo" Station and walked for about 5 minutes. We booked a room with an open-air bath. The public bath is located underground and includes a large bath, jacuzzi, sauna, and cold bath. While there is no open-air bath in the public bathing area, we thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen experience. In the early morning, we enjoyed the private open-air bath inside our room. Facilities such as the medicinal herb bar and Akari Library allowed us to relax before and after meals, forgetting daily life for a while. While meal service might not meet high expectations, changing your perspective reveals it as very kind "omotenashi" hospitality. We had a restful sleep during our stay. The shuttle service to Gora Station after check-out was very helpful—those slopes in Gora are tough!

    A bit disappointing

The staff's service, the facility, and the accessibility were generally satisfactory. However, the Room was a bit disappointing. The staff is limited, and all communication is handled via smartphone, making it difficult to ask questions. The service is not satisfactory. There are long waits to enter the dining area, even with children, and no child seats are provided. Meals take a long time to arrive, and dishes are not cleared promptly. The breakfast buffet has limited options and is not replenished adequately. The outdoor bath in the Room lacks privacy as it can be seen from outside, which needs improvement. The only positive aspect was having a hair iron available in the Room.

I stayed here again with my friends. Since it was my birthday on the day of our stay, I mentioned it in the comment section during booking. I received an email offering a birthday cake (for an additional fee). I decided to treat myself and ordered it, and on the day, the staff and my friends surprised me with a celebration! It became a very memorable experience. Thank you so much to all the staff!
