I had high expectations.
The cleanliness of the Room was not satisfactory (stains on the toilet seat, the entire Room felt dusty), allergy-triggering ingredients were mistakenly served at dinner without an apology, and there were no skincare amenities in the Room. Additionally, it was disappointing that the view of the sea was obstructed by plants near the open-air bath. However, breakfast had a wide variety and was delicious.

A luxurious Hotel perfect for a well-deserved year-end treat.
The staff, the Hotel, the Room, the Onsen, the food, and the view were all excellent. As this was a year-end trip to reward ourselves for a year of hard work, it was on the pricier side but absolutely worth choosing this place. There were koi fish in the lobby that children could feed, which made them very happy. With a private open-air bath in our Room, even our 0-year-old baby could enjoy their first Onsen experience, leaving our whole family completely satisfied. Since it was all-inclusive, we could enjoy free drinks and snacks at the lounge. The lounge also offered a view of the ocean for ultimate relaxation. Breakfast was served buffet-style and everything tasted delicious. We were touched by their provision of baby cribs as well! Dinner was served in-room with different menus every night; each meal was delightful. The staff provided attentive service throughout our stay. We would love to stay here again if we have another opportunity!

Universal Suite Akane
We chose a barrier-free room that is wheelchair accessible due to mobility issues. There were no steps, and the room had a ramp with enough space for a wheelchair to make U-turns. The bathroom was equipped with handrails; however, the door needed to be left open as the wheelchair couldn't fully enter. The hallway inside the room was spacious, and the refrigerator was stocked with complimentary drinks such as bottled beer and New Summer Orange juice. The sink area featured two large basins, and amenities were well-prepared in boxes. The skincare products had an excellent fragrance and were perfect for taking home. The ReFa hairdryer and NOR shampoo, conditioner, and body soap were fantastic choices. The view from the private open-air bath in our room was breathtaking—mainly of the ocean but also including sunsets over mountains in the evening and sunrises over the horizon in the morning accompanied by soothing wave sounds. Meals were served at a dining area on the same floor as our accommodation, eliminating any need for elevator use—making it stress-free for wheelchair users. Dinner consisted of course meals served at just-right intervals—not too much or too little—and everything tasted delicious. At an adjacent lounge near dining, we enjoyed sweets—a highlight of our stay! Depending on time slots during your stay here either alcohol or desserts are available exclusively for guests; these bite-sized treats left quite an impression! Breakfast offered buffet-style options within this same dining space where carts designed specifically holding trays made navigating easier even while using wheelchairs thanks largely due staff’s thoughtful assistance ensuring both dinner & breakfast experiences remained delightful overall! Upon departure from reception desk received unique keepsakes like traffic safety charms alongside New Year towels which added personal touch towards memorable farewell gesture immediately attaching charm onto car afterward felt meaningful gesture indeed! Despite unexpected bird droppings affecting only ours neighboring vehicles amidst setting next destination inside vehicle staff kindly cleaned thoroughly wiping down exterior under cold windy conditions leaving us deeply grateful beyond words expressing utmost appreciation departing feeling genuinely satisfied overall experience encompassing accommodations meals exceptional service alike truly exceeded expectations worth every penny spent thank you so much!

It was supposed to be the best accommodation...
The "Traffic Safety" origami crane marks the 10th one during this trip. This has been my favorite accommodation since my 20s, and I have been a repeat guest for about 25 years. However, this trip might be my last... With that thought in mind, I am writing a review for the first time. Even after a year since my last visit, the hospitality of the staff, the guest rooms (recently featuring open-air baths with stunning views), and the complimentary lounge service on the 6th floor were truly excellent. The room cleaning was impeccable as expected from Ginsui. However, despite all these charms, dinner was disappointingly underwhelming to an extent that overshadowed everything else. The actual meal [60th Anniversary Kaiseki (Ten Course)] itself was delicious. Yet for someone familiar with their traditionally luxurious menu (such as simmered golden-eye snapper, abalone butter grill, thick slices of Ise lobster sashimi), this time's offerings—including grilled golden-eye snapper—felt scaled down (cost-cutting!?). Similar opinions have already been pointed out by others who know its previous standards (e.g., April 2025 review by a man in his 60s), and it seems like the accommodation is somewhat aware of this issue (as they’ve responded to reviews). Unfortunately, no improvements are evident at present. Today I conveyed this directly in person and am also raising it here through this review. I read an article featuring your new head chef stating that "delicious food is a given; what matters is how to create hospitality and added value beyond that" ("Tabirai," March 18th, 2025). For guests like us though, meals are undeniably one of the most critical elements shaping our travel impressions. Therefore we would greatly appreciate if you could take such genuine feedback more seriously. For most guests prioritizing meals over amenities or free drinks is natural—it’s what truly matters during their stay! We sincerely hope for a revival of those impressive meals full both quality-wise & quantity-wise just like before!

Luxury Hotel from the Bubble Era
Although the building is old, it was comfortable to stay. However, the rice was too soft, and the quality of the Onsen was not great. It's disappointing because both the room and service were excellent.

It was my first visit in 36 years.
We stayed as a couple this time. Both the food and the room were excellent, and we were delighted to return as we had hoped. The facility was impeccably clean, and the koi swimming in the lobby added a touch of luxury. The ocean view from our room was breathtaking. The meals were delicious, making us feel like we received a year's worth of rewards. We hope to visit again during this season next year.

Thank you!
I stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The view was great, and the meals were delicious. I would love to use this accommodation again. However, there was one issue—there were mosquitoes in the room during this season. I believe they entered when I used the open-air bath... It would have been helpful if insect repellent had been provided in the room. Other than that, it was a perfect birthday experience. Thank you very much!

We stayed in a suite...
We stayed in a suite room with an open-air bath, so we did not use the public bath. The private open-air bath in the room was so spacious and had perfect water temperature, and the ability to open and close the windows was also a nice touch. The staff were kind and attentive. However, the meals were disappointing. About 15 years ago, when meals were brought to the room by attendants, I was impressed by dishes made with fresh fish. But now, how has it come to such disappointing flavors and menu choices? Perhaps due to the all-inclusive alcohol service at the lounge, even the selection of drinks during dinner was poor. The breakfast buffet offered nothing appealing to eat either; items weren’t replenished properly. While we enjoyed our room and its private open-air bath, this left a negative impression on my companion overall.

The stay at Inatori Ginsuiso after 20 years was once again exceptional.
We stayed as a group of four siblings. From check-in to check-out, we enjoyed complimentary food and drink services that changed throughout the day while admiring the stunning ocean view. Afterward, we relaxed in an open-air bath with a spectacular view. Since dinner was at 7 PM, we returned to our spacious room and spent time reminiscing about old times while enjoying the view of the Izu Seven Islands together. The dinner starting at 7 PM was luxurious and delicious from the appetizers, raising our expectations for what followed. Every dish was beautifully presented, and even though I usually don't drink alcohol, I couldn't resist ordering some this time. The service staff were refined and professional, allowing all four of us to enjoy a delightful dinner experience thoroughly. Our stay at Inatori Ginsuiso after 20 years was once again exceptional!

The Room is hot.
The Room's window couldn't be opened, making it hot even though it's December. The washbasin was also old and lacked a sense of cleanliness.

Thank you again for your stay.
This was our second stay at the accommodation after three and a half years. The first time, we stayed using the Shizuoka Prefecture discount, and this time, it was to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary. The food during our previous stay was incredibly delicious, and we were deeply impressed by the staff's hospitality. This time as well, we were moved by the kindness of the staff even more than before. Last night, after dinner on the 6th floor, I suddenly felt unwell while resting at a table outside the dining area and ended up vomiting. Unfortunately, I soiled not only the table but also the carpeted floor. My wife tried to help me but couldn’t manage alone. When a staff member passed by and I explained what had happened, they showed no sign of displeasure and kindly expressed concern for my condition. They called other staff members for assistance, who also cleaned everything without any hesitation or complaint. In August, I was diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent surgery to remove two-thirds of my right lung. Initially, I needed portable oxygen support but have recently been able to live without it most of the time. Although I initially gave up on traveling altogether after my diagnosis, I decided to plan this trip because visiting Inatori Ginsuiso for our wedding anniversary became something very important to me. While I'm still monitoring my blood oxygen levels with a pulse oximeter and need frequent breaks when walking long distances, we had an incredibly enjoyable one-night stay here. Please extend my heartfelt gratitude once again to all staff members involved in cleaning up last night’s incident—thank you so much!

We received very kind and attentive service.
It was the Onsen debut for our 0-year-old twins. Although we arrived late and were close to dinner time, we were warmly welcomed, and we truly appreciate it. With babies, our schedule didn’t go as planned, so we barely made it on time. The meals were delicious, and the room was clean. We were very satisfied. We could feel the essence of Japanese "omotenashi," which is often forgotten these days.

The ocean view from ...
The ocean view from the room, the sound of waves while soaking in the open-air bath, the lounge service that changes content every hour, delicious cuisine served on beautiful tableware—everything was absolutely wonderful at this accommodation. My elderly parents were also very satisfied and said they would love to stay here again.

I had a relaxing and very satisfying stay.
I had been looking forward to visiting this place for a long time, and it turned out to be an even more wonderful stay than I had expected. We arrived by car, and the staff kindly awaited our arrival, making parking smooth and hassle-free. The front desk staff greeted us with warm smiles and provided detailed guidance, leaving a great first impression. The room offered a stunning view, was impeccably clean, and allowed us to relax comfortably. The private bath in the room had an abundant water supply; it was so enjoyable that I used it multiple times. The ocean view was incredibly soothing. The large public bath was spacious and very pleasant as well. If I may suggest one improvement, having alternating schedules for men’s and women’s baths would allow guests to experience different facilities. As expected from an accommodation that takes pride in its cuisine, the kaiseki dinner was truly impressive. You could feel the chef's passion in every detail of the meal—it was absolutely delightful. The dining area itself had high ceilings with a sense of openness that further enhanced the dining experience. Thank you so much for providing such a relaxing stay! I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and look forward to returning again soon!

The smell is strong.
The smell upon entering the Hotel was overwhelming, resembling an old toilet air freshener. While the dining area and bath floor were fine, walking through the hallway to my Room or being at the front desk was unpleasant due to the odor. I've stayed at many places, but this was a first for me. The staff member at check-in was energetic and friendly, which was nice, but her voice was so loud that everyone around could hear my name and Room number—something I wish could be avoided. Overall satisfaction is low, and I plan to choose another Hotel if I visit Inatori again.

It was a wonderful trip!
This trip was with my in-laws and my husband. Our Room was a standard Japanese-style room as we chose a lower grade. We spent most of our time in the lounge and bath, so the room level wasn't much of an issue. However, there was an indescribable smell due to the age of the building (the M2 floor had a particularly strong odor). Our bedding consisted of futons, but there was a dip in the middle that made it uncomfortable to sleep on. In the morning, we discovered that two futons were placed horizontally instead of vertically with the comforter laid incorrectly over them—no wonder it felt strange! As a result, sleeping comfort was terrible. On the other hand, my in-laws' Room was upgraded and provided great satisfaction. The private bath, cleanliness, free drinks—all were excellent! The whole family loved their Room! Additionally, since they have mobility issues, having their Room close to the lounge earned high points. The meals overall were satisfying; however: - Service speed was slow. - Despite informing staff about children's meals beforehand, they never arrived. We ended up sharing our food with our child instead. - A part-time staff member often forgot explanations when serving dishes; this left us unsure about what some dishes were or when to eat them. Although we informed them by phone that we'd be dining with elderly parents beforehand: The seating arrangement placed us (the younger couple) at higher seats while leaving child-related items further away—a disappointing oversight requiring unnecessary adjustments during dinner service. The lounge experience exceeded expectations despite desserts being commercial-grade quality—it balanced out during other timeslots anyway! My father-in-law especially enjoyed spending most hours relaxing here! Feeding koi fish delighted our son immensely while baths offered relaxation despite noticeable aging signs within Rooms up until Floor 3 levels only. Service overall remained commendable despite minor drawbacks mentioned earlier—positives outweighed negatives leading towards complete satisfaction! Both elderly parents expressed immense joy throughout their stay—thank you very much for everything!

About Dinner
The room, breakfast, and lounge were satisfactory, but the quality and quantity of the dinner were disappointing. Staying in the Royal Suite, we were served a kaiseki meal in our room. The menu included an appetizer plate, sashimi plate with 2 slices of tuna and 3 types of sea bream (4 slices total), a small portion of sakura shrimp, shabu-shabu with 3 slices of abalone, 2 slices of yellowtail, 3 slices of alfonsino fish; cold corn soup; tempura with three small pieces of lobster—5 dishes in total. Even my daughter with a small appetite found it insufficient. Dinner started at 6:30 PM but was completely served by 7:07 PM. After that point, only rice and miso soup were offered. Typically at other ryokans offering kaiseki meals, dinner takes about two hours to enjoy fully; however here it was over within just 37 minutes excluding eating time due to the limited quantity and quality. Additionally concerning issues included dark-colored tuna sashimi and yellowtail for shabu-shabu that remained fishy even after cooking. For ¥62,150 per person per night (¥186,450 for three people), this is extremely poor value for money. As someone who enjoys traveling frequently and staying at various ryokans across Japan—this was by far the worst dinner experience I’ve ever had at any ryokan. While such standards might be acceptable for budget accommodations—it is unacceptable from a high-end ryokan listed on IKYU.com which should conduct proper investigations into such cases.

We stayed as a family on a weekday. Although we arrived later than planned, the staff flexibly adjusted meal times for us. The Room with an open-air bath had a great view, and we enjoyed a relaxing time listening to the sound of the waves. The lounge was also enjoyable with various options. It would have been even better if there were more food choices.

The best Ryokan I've ever stayed at!!
After thorough research for two months, I chose this accommodation as a birthday gift for him! We stayed in the luxurious "Konpeki" room, and it was undoubtedly the best ryokan I've ever experienced. The room was not only impeccably clean and well-maintained but also offered an abundance of amenities, free drinks, and a 24-hour lounge where beverages were always available. The hospitality was exceptional, allowing us to enjoy an extraordinary one-night stay. As someone who prioritizes delicious food during trips, I was truly impressed by the dishes made with seasonal ingredients. The meals were so exquisite that I would love to visit every season! We enjoyed kaiseki cuisine at night and a buffet-style breakfast in the morning—both experiences brought happiness to our two-day stay together. I would love to return for future celebrations or as a treat for myself! The surprise gesture when we mentioned driving back during checkout and seeing staff wave until we were out of sight left me deeply moved by their unparalleled hospitality. It felt worth every penny spent—and more—thanks to their outstanding service! I absolutely want to stay here again!

Always a Delight at Ginsuiso
It has been over 30 years since we started using Ginsuiso. From the reservation process, we received attentive support and were recommended an 18.5 tatami and 6 tatami two-room accommodation for our three-generation stay. The spacious room allowed us to relax at our own pace comfortably. The complimentary lounge and the quality of the dinner were outstanding, and we used the lounge multiple times with peace of mind. At night, we enjoyed beautiful fireworks launched nearby from the ryokan, as well as handheld fireworks provided to us for family fun. The onsen featured fresh overflowing water that left our skin smooth and rejuvenated. For children, there were plenty of activities such as a stamp rally, mini-golf, table tennis, feeding koi in the lobby pond—all free of charge! The thoughtful services ensured satisfaction for both children and adults alike during our stay. We have firmly decided to visit again next year and checked out with a heavy heart. Thank you very much to all the staff for your exceptional hospitality!

Unfortunately.
This was my second stay. The first time left a very good impression, but this time it felt like it wasn't worth the price. The service and meals were fine (though many of the staff were foreign), but the cleaning of the room was disappointing. There was mold on the inside of the toilet door, trash near the carpet by the window in the room, and a previous guest's hair on the haori jacket provided with the yukata, which was unpleasant. The older rooms in the facility also had a distinctive smell. If prices were lower, I could overlook these issues, but considering I paid a considerable amount, I regret not spending a bit more to stay at an accommodation with better quality.

No second chance.
A reservation was made for a Japanese-Western style room with a private open-air bath. Although the room had been renovated, the sofa's position caused direct exposure to air conditioning, making it too cold to relax. The lobby, hallways, and various areas had an old odor that was very unpleasant. The large public bath did not provide towels; guests needed to bring them from their rooms. The meals were disappointing—unbelievably poor-quality sashimi for Izu, with dull colors and a dried-out appearance that made me double-check several times. The wagyu beef provided for grilling seemed like it had drippings already coming out of it... Meals were served in the dining area; dinner seating was determined by room rank and included a window-side table, but for breakfast, you needed to line up early if you wanted a window-side seat. There were many inbound Asian tourists whose manners were often ignored by staff. When leaving with luggage, carts could be borrowed; however, staff only reluctantly moved the cart from the lobby to outside the entrance and absolutely did not assist in loading luggage into car trunks. Unfortunately, this 2-night/3-day trip failed to provide delicious meals or relaxing moments as hoped.

The staff were generally friendly, but the lack of a strong sense of hospitality was disappointing. The floor where the Room was located had a noticeable musty smell. While the bathroom in the Room was good, the public bath felt outdated with limited facilities, and having to bring towels from the Room made it less satisfying. There were many foreign guests, and I was confused to see someone entering the outdoor bath in a yukata.

Stunning ocean views and amazing fireworks!
Last year, we had to cancel due to a typhoon, so this year we visited right after the start of summer vacation. Check-in was smooth, and our luggage was brought to the Room. The Room was clean and offered an amazing view of the ocean from the open-air bath. We expected it to be crowded because of the fireworks event, but unfortunately, there was a long wait between dishes during dinner. Since there was a bus schedule for the fireworks venue, we couldn’t enjoy the dessert we were looking forward to. Additionally, we felt that both the quality and quantity of dinner dishes had changed compared to before. Although we were taken by bus to the fireworks venue, there was a 35-minute wait until they started. Considering how hot it is in summer, it might be better if departure times were slightly later. Thank you again for your hospitality this year!

It was a wonderful traditional Japanese Ryokan.
A traditional Japanese Ryokan in Izu with exceptional hospitality. The manager and staff in kimono were very professional, providing outstanding service. The lounge offered a variety of sweets and desserts, making the stay even more enjoyable. Most guests were families, and it was reassuring to see a peaceful atmosphere throughout the Ryokan.

The smell in the hallway and the room is concerning.
Overall, it was highly rated, but there was one disappointing aspect—the smell in the hallway and Room was quite bothersome. The issue in the Room was improved by spraying the provided deodorizer, but the hallway smell remained noticeable while walking. Placing some deodorizers might help reduce the unpleasant odor.

The room was changed for us... Ultimately satisfied, but would I revisit?
This is a large Hotel (Ryokan), and since the Plan we chose was reasonably priced, we did not expect to be fully satisfied with everything. However, the first Room we were shown had a view of an empty, dirty pool and could not be described as having a good view. Upon entering, we were shocked by the strong smell of mold. Looking closer, there was water left in the kettle, the futons in the closet were disorganized, and it was clear that cleaning had either not been done or was done carelessly—this was very disappointing. The most surprising issue was that the window could not be opened; in case of fire spreading through the hallway, evacuation would have been impossible (likely illegal). We requested a Room change and were moved to another Room with an older but cleaner feel and a better view. However, during this process, we were told: "It will cost an additional 4,000 yen; does it really smell that much like mold?" There are many good points as well. We are grateful for staff members who provided polite service and chefs who take pride in their work. However, considering factors like lounge services being hit-or-miss depending on luck, it would be difficult to consider revisiting this Hotel (Ryokan).
