    Satisfied with the meals.

    Dinner, including sashimi and sushi, was excellent. I will return to enjoy that tuna again. Breakfast, including rice balls, was also satisfying. The Facility is a bit old but not an issue. However, as someone mentioned before, it would be appreciated if the toilet paper could be softer.

    The Room was spacious and comfortable. The meals offered a wide variety and were very delicious, including freshly made sushi and sashimi. For breakfast, you could enjoy rice balls made with your favorite ingredients, freshly baked French toast, and even milk served directly from a tap—it was delightful!

    Changed plans from Fukushima to Dogashima due to bear sightings. Checked in at 2 PM and started with a welcome beer in the open-air bath, accompanied by delicious snacks. The dinner buffet was of high quality, offering so many choices it was hard to decide. When asking the staff about starting with draft beer, we were delighted to find out it was free-flow drinks—amazing! Breakfast was also excellent, making this a truly wonderful trip.

    Child rates are said to be 70% of adult rates, but it was disappointing that changes were not easily accepted, and in the end, we had to pay the full adult rate. It seems changes could have been made up to 4 days before check-in... The Facility was good, but ultimately, I felt it was questionable whether it matched the price.

    I stayed during the high season of the Obon holiday. While I understood it was one of the busiest times of the year, I was very disappointed with how poorly managed everything was. At meals (buffet), there were long waits, and despite being able to anticipate the crowd in advance, the staff showed no consideration for guests at all. Waiting seemed to be taken as a given, and even their communication about it felt very indifferent. It turned out to be a disappointing stay with no sense of hospitality whatsoever.

    Enjoy a Summer Family Vacation

    It was our first time staying at this accommodation. It is a hotel where you can enjoy with elementary school-aged children. You can enjoy both the pool and the sea. However, accessing the sea requires some physical effort due to the steep descent. The indoor pool was cold and smaller than it appeared in photos, making it less enjoyable. It would be great if the area with the indoor pool could be renovated along with the pool itself. We also enjoyed table tennis, but there was only one table, so we had to wait for our turn. The meals were buffet-style and featured many creative and delicious dishes. Alcoholic beverages were included, which was a nice touch. However, it was crowded, and we had to wait for entry; moreover, since it ended at 8:30 PM, there wasn’t enough time to fully enjoy dining. It would have been better if we could eat more leisurely even during busy times. The onsen was spacious and easy to use. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the sunset from the outdoor bath this time; perhaps it’s visible during another season. Our room was in an older part of the building (possibly a more affordable option), so it wasn’t very satisfying overall. The futon mattress felt thin—having an additional mattress would have been better—but we did appreciate having a good view of the ocean from our room as well as hangers for drying swimsuits conveniently provided in-room. Additionally, there were five free washing machines available near the pool area for washing swimsuits—this service came in handy. In summer especially, being able to enjoy soft drinks anytime while admiring stunning views from the lobby—and even having designated beer times—was a much-appreciated service!

    The weather has cleared up, making it perfect!

    The typhoon was approaching, but it luckily veered off, so the weather was perfect. Moreover, the Hotel's service was even better than the great weather.

    Enjoyed a comfortable and pleasant stay with exceptional hospitality.

    When I requested a change to a room with beds if available at the time of reservation, I received a polite notification the day before that my preferred room had become available. Additionally, the shuttle service and overall hospitality were very pleasant. It was my first stay, but I think it would be enjoyable to visit next time with my whole family. As someone else mentioned, taking towels from the room was a bit inconvenient. Reusing wet towels at night was also slightly disappointing.

    This accommodation was a last-minute decision on the day. We chose it for the view, buffet, and price. The view from the lounge offered a stunning ocean view and sunset. The facility is an old-style large hotel but was kept clean. There is a private beach where we enjoyed a morning walk, free access to ping-pong tables, and all-you-can-drink beer in the lounge. Meals were served in buffet style. Since we have some picky eaters in our group and prefer not to waste food or eat large portions, the buffet suited us better than set meals or course dining. During our stay, there was a tuna fair where we enjoyed sushi, carpaccio, and grilled tuna head dishes. All staff members were friendly with warm smiles—this left the best impression on us! From doormen to front desk staff, restaurant servers to bathhouse cleaners—everyone was kind and welcoming. Guests included families with children, couples, reunion groups, and larger parties of various kinds. With increasing inbound tourism these days, West Izu still felt quiet and peaceful—a wonderful experience overall!

    Dogashima New Ginsui

    I stayed at New Ginsui, a ryokan with great reviews, which I had always wanted to visit after seeing the commercials for Ginsuiso. They were hosting a tuna fair, and I enjoyed the recommended bluefin tuna sushi prepared by the chef so much that I went back for seconds. I indulged in various dishes like oven-baked tuna, tuna yukhoe (which you can't easily have at home), shabu-shabu with Fuji pork, freshly fried tempura, and skewers—all you can eat! As mentioned in the reviews, the soft-serve ice cream had a rich milk flavor and was truly delicious! The room reflected an old-style luxury ryokan with tatami mats and newly renovated walls that gave it a clean feel. The lobby's drink corner and free drinks during meals allowed me to relax fully. I didn't feel any shortage of staff at all. However, I was slightly bothered by the stairs leading to the large bathhouse and the narrowness of my room's washroom—so I'll give it 4 stars. May New Ginsui continue to be an exceptional ryokan for years to come!

    Visited after 30 years. The scenery remains unchanged, while the services seem to have adapted to modern times, which was nice in its own way. The meals were absolutely delicious. It made me think this kind of experience is also enjoyable!

    For my mother's birthday,

    I stayed here to celebrate my mother's birthday. Thank you so much for your hospitality. This was my second time staying here, and this time I came with my mother and her friend. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed at the entrance. On the day of our stay, I made a difficult request—I asked for a birthday cake for my mother, even though I knew it would be impossible on such short notice. While they couldn’t prepare a cake, they handed me a special card instead. The Room was exceptionally clean and elegant. During dinner, the staff showed great care towards my mother and her friend, which left them impressed by their attention to detail—especially with how they served using carts at the table. After handing over the card given at reception during dinner service, we were surprised with three beautiful bowls containing red rice and white fish—a delightful surprise! During our previous visit, dinner wasn’t buffet-style; however, this time’s buffet was excellent! The sashimi was freshly sliced upon order, and all sushi ingredients were of outstanding quality. We’ve already decided to come back next year. At checkout time, receiving a handmade origami crane touched us deeply—it’s hard to put into words how moved we felt by this gesture. We placed it in our car as decoration on our way home safely. Within this modern building lies warm-hearted staff who provide exceptional hospitality. I will definitely become a repeat guest!

    Accommodation with Stunning Views and Delicious Meals

    Excellent! This historic, large-scale hotel offers a sense of luxury that cannot be replicated today, with its unparalleled location and extraordinary costs reminiscent of an era when travel was truly special. While there are many high-end ryokans emerging, this is in a league of its own. This accommodation boasts stunning views—right in front is Dogashima, offering breathtaking scenery. The sound of waves and birdsong provide a soothing atmosphere. The highlight here is the carefully prepared cuisine made with great attention to detail. Unlike some hotels that merely renovate for appearances and serve subpar buffet meals, this place stands out by showcasing local dishes crafted to be both delicious and enjoyable. You can feel the thoughtfulness throughout your dining experience. Though not flashy, every dish exceeds expectations—you’ll find yourself wanting more even when full because everything tastes so good! The jade tofu has an exquisite balance with flavorful broth—it feels like something from a high-end restaurant elsewhere. The marble tofu is also delightful; the sesame aroma reveals the generous use of quality ingredients. The live kitchen ensures freshly prepared dishes at all times—the shrimp tempura had just the right thickness with excellent texture and flavor; I enjoyed it with salt seasoning. Other items like eggplant and sweet potato were equally delicious. The tonkotsu ramen had rich soup as well! Desserts were fantastic too—especially the soft-serve ice cream which stood out compared to typical buffet offerings—it tasted fresh like gelato made from Nasu milk! Even strawberries felt gelato-like—absolutely delicious! Despite being off-season for crab, they served it at an impressive level comparable to Toyosu Market standards (though slightly salty). Unfortunately, sashimi didn’t meet expectations based on what you might see on YouTube—not very tasty—but given how good everything else was including side dishes overall satisfaction wasn’t affected much. Morning offerings such as freshly made fried bread or croissants were also delightful. Rooms have been renovated while retaining their original charm—a tasteful blend resulting in no issues whatsoever; cleanliness was impeccable throughout. One downside: only one set each of bath towel & hand towel provided per guest—and none available at sinks either—you need to bring them along when visiting public baths…why?! Sauna facilities included though cold-water bath temperature ran slightly warm yet still enjoyable; however no dedicated relaxation chairs available post-sauna session. All things considered though—it’s truly an excellent accommodation highly recommended (just 5 minutes’ walk from Tombolo during low tide—be sure check timing!).

    I stayed at this accommodation about two years ago, and at that time, the meals were very delicious, and the staff's service was excellent, so I decided to stay again this time. However, the quality of the food has declined, and the lighting was too dim to enjoy it properly. I visited looking forward to the meals but was very disappointed.

    Favorite Accommodation

    I have stayed at this accommodation many times because I love it, but there were a few disappointments. ◯ Dinner felt lacking. While I am usually very satisfied, perhaps due to the all-you-can-eat crab, tempura, and sashimi buffet, other dishes felt sparse. It would have been nice to have grilled dishes, simmered dishes, or at least some salads served on the table. Perhaps this is a result of staff shortages? Also, drink orders were not offered unless we called for assistance. ◯ Breakfast was as satisfying as always. ◯ The shuttle service felt lonely with no one there to greet us. I remember when many staff members used to see guests off warmly in the past. ◯ The way the futon sheets were laid out was very sloppy. Overall, it seems inevitable due to staffing shortages.

    It was great.

    I stayed on a weekday, and it was excellent. I would love to visit again. Are most of the staff locals? I was deeply impressed by their warm service. It was evident that various efforts were made to ensure the Facility and building did not feel outdated. While cost reduction and customer satisfaction can sometimes conflict, the balance here was remarkable. I could sense both the hard work of the staff and the serious commitment from management.

    That's unfortunate.

    The room we stayed in was a "Japanese-style room with twin beds." The lamp on the stand table between the twin beds did not turn on, and the alarm was not functional, so we contacted staff. They came and fixed it by adjusting the bulb after removing the lampshade, but dust from the shade scattered onto the bed cover, which was very unpleasant. Was this checked beforehand? As for the alarm, it was broken, and we were told that a morning call could be made using the phone in the adjacent Japanese-style room. However, my husband was sleeping in that room with a different wake-up time than mine. Since both doors were closed while sleeping, suggesting using an alarm from another room seemed unreasonable. The refrigerator's power was off when we arrived; I didn’t realize I had to turn it on myself. After dinner, I wanted to enjoy some alcohol in our room but found it at room temperature—very disappointing. When I tried to purchase beer from a vending machine inside the facility instead, it ran out of change and couldn’t accept bills or 500-yen coins. Since you know guests' check-in times in advance, please ensure at least that refrigerators are powered on beforehand. It would also be helpful if this information is communicated verbally at check-in. At dinner buffet time, there were no vegetables (like salads), which was disappointing as well—it didn’t match what I had imagined based on photos. During checkout regarding issues like bedside light bulbs/alarm problems weren’t addressed nor acknowledged properly either felt disheartened

    Thank you for your thoughtful consideration regarding the parking. We always appreciate it. This time, we traveled by car from Hakone to Nishi-Izu for a 5-night stay, and we had already decided that our final accommodation would be Ginsui. The sense of security in being able to spend time comfortably from arrival to departure the next day is an absolute must. During our first visit, we paid close attention to the room, meals, and bath. By the second visit, we found ourselves observing staff interactions and other guests with more ease. At the dining venue, I spoke with an elderly gentleman preparing sashimi and another person making tamagoyaki during breakfast; their skills and sense of responsibility were truly remarkable. The massage therapist also provided such a meticulous treatment that I lost track of time before dinner. Although unrelated to Ginsui itself, staying at various accommodations nearby over five nights gave us insight into guest demographics at each place—something that seems proportional to accommodation pricing. This trip offered glimpses into how facilities are making corporate efforts through cost-saving measures in various areas. It’s something for which we should express gratitude when receiving reliable services like those at Ginsui. On a personal note, I believe Ginsui could justify raising its prices given its exceptional quality as an accommodation—especially considering how unparalleled their meals are compared to others. Managing such a large facility must come with challenges; however, this is also an era where accommodations can choose their clientele wisely—much like how a ferry in Kagoshima recently refused boarding under certain circumstances. My spouse and I are already considering visiting again next month. Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful travel experience!

    The view is amazing!

    We stayed for a family trip. The view from the room was wonderful, and it was a very comfortable ryokan. The staff's service was kind and pleasant. Only the dessert buffet was a bit disappointing in taste. We would like to visit again in another season.

    Grandma's School Trip

    Ginsuiso was amazing! The crab at the Crab Fair was a bit underwhelming, but considering the cost-performance, it's totally fine. Plus, the handmade service more than made up for it! Especially the Onsen and breakfast were exquisite, and the milk flowing from the tap was truly impressive. The variety of side dishes was overwhelming, making a second visit a must (haha)! The front desk staff's service was perfect, absolutely no complaints! The sea in Izu was beautiful, and everything was just the best! I hope to visit again someday! Thank you very much.

    Wonderful Sunset Delicious Seafood

    I was lucky enough to watch the sunset from the lobby. It was my first time seeing the sunset over Suruga Bay, and it was truly moving. The tuna and amberjack I had for dinner were exceptional, surpassing the level of a typical buffet. They were fresh, and the staff kindly sliced them multiple times, making it very satisfying. If I may say, instead of the all-you-can-eat crab, I would have preferred turban shells or scallops. The Hotel staff were always welcoming with smiles, allowing me to relax and enjoy my stay. I was able to rejuvenate myself. Thank you very much.

    A bit disappointing

    It was my first visit to NEW Ginsui Mountain in a while. The scenery and location were as amazing as ever. I appreciated being allowed to check in before 2 PM, which was very helpful. I enjoyed relaxing in the lounge from 2 PM. If I had to point out a downside, the sashimi at dinner, especially the tuna and bonito, didn’t feel very fresh and was a bit disappointing. Additionally, the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was slightly affected by the smell of oil from the tempura at the buffet.

    Great meals, baths... and excellent prices at this property.

    No, no... I was really surprised. There is absolutely no other service like this on this scale. Especially, the dining concept at Ginsui is wonderful. Most other properties offer a variety of dishes or patterns composed of standard ingredients. However, Ginsui's menu, which focuses on local production for local consumption, was the best. If you want to eat sashimi, go to Ginsui! Also, the fried bread served at breakfast seemed like it could be found anywhere, but it was full of a special feeling. The aging of the rooms, baths, and the interior cannot be denied, but the "food," "bath," and "price" make you forget everything. Also, the sunset view from the room, reminiscent of a special investigation frontline, is one of the highlights of Nishi-Izu. I've used almost all the stays in Izu, so recently I've been revisiting the ones that left an impression. I will definitely be in the care of Ginsui again soon. I just got back, but I already want to go... It's truly a wonderful stay.

    We visited for an anniversary!

    I visited to celebrate an anniversary and was delighted with the wonderful service. The bath had a great view and I was able to relax as it wasn't a particularly crowded time, so I ended up taking a long bath! However, during meal times, everyone gathers at the buffet, making it a bit difficult to get food. After a while, it calms down, allowing for a leisurely enjoyment. Overall, it was a very lovely Stays!

    I was able to relax.

    We stayed for one night with three friends on a weekday. We arrived early by car and entered the room, then took our first dip in the Onsen around 4 PM, followed by a meal. After returning to the room, we relaxed while watching TV, then enjoyed a second visit to the Onsen, including the open-air bath and bubble bath, making it a very pleasant trip.

    A trip to Izu for a couple

    When I was young, I often visited Nishi-Izu to swim in the summer, but this was my first trip to Izu in 40 years. The property was thoroughly cleaned, and everyone at the hotel was smiling, making for a pleasant stay. I felt that the number of dinner items was less compared to breakfast, so I rated it 4.
