Family trip for five people
Our family of five stayed for one night right after the Obon holidays. We had one small child, two parents, and two middle schoolers, so we made a Reservation for a spacious Room with an adjoining room. Our Room was on the top floor (10th) of the West Wing. The ocean-view Room offered a breathtaking panoramic view of Suruga Bay, and the space was more than sufficient. That said, since it’s a 30-year-old seaside Hotel, there was noticeable wear and tear in places. The futons also had quite a few stains. We checked in at 2:00 PM and headed straight to the pool. There are both indoor and outdoor pools. We relaxed and spent time at the outdoor pool. After that, we went to the baths. They are spacious and include a sauna and an open-air bath, but it was a bit disappointing that there wasn’t anything particularly distinctive about them. Around 5:30 PM we went to the buffet restaurant on the 9th floor. It was extremely crowded, but the restaurant is quite large, and we were seated by the window—an amazing location that really lifted our spirits! The food selection included plenty of seafood, and at the live kitchen they prepared sushi, steak, and more. There was a wide variety overall. After dinner we enjoyed playing table tennis and even did fireworks in the courtyard. The next morning we woke up at 6:00 AM for an early bath. It was quiet with few people around, so we could truly relax. When we went to breakfast afterward, it was so packed that I couldn’t believe this many guests were staying there! Breakfast didn’t have any standout features in particular. When I asked what they recommended, they said fried bread rolls and croissants—something you can find anywhere. After that we went to the beach for some light fun before checking out at 10:00 AM. On our second day (the day of checkout), I was surprised to see a large insect in the hallway. It’s advertised as all-inclusive. Adults can enjoy alcoholic drinks as part of it, but our two middle schoolers don’t eat much due to smaller appetites, so paying adult-level pricing for them felt somewhat expensive. For five people for one night it came to about JPY 180000. Still, it turned into a great trip with wonderful family memories. Thank you very much.

Family Trip for a Girls’ Getaway
We stayed here during our child’s summer vacation. Throughout our stay, all the Hotel staff were truly kind and always greeted us with a smile, and we are very grateful. It was a wonderful family trip! One area for improvement is that there were no towels provided in the large public bath, so we had to bring them from our Room. Since we wanted to enjoy the Onsen multiple times, we ended up having to reuse wet towels, which was a bit disappointing. Also, the night pool closes at 9:00 PM, which overlaps with dinner time, so we could only enjoy it for a short time. The pool staff also started putting away lights and other items before 9:00 PM, which made us feel awkward and forced us to leave early. Then at breakfast the next morning, when I went to get coffee, there was only one coffee machine and a line had formed. The woman in front of me made coffee for six people, so I had to wait 15 minutes. Since some guests may be inconsiderate, I think it would be smoother if coffee were also prepared in several thermal pots. Overall, the view from our Room was amazing, the facilities were clean throughout, and all of the staff were truly wonderful. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much!

An Accommodation with a beach and pool—perfect for summer.
My daughters were totally into the all-you-can-eat ice pops and choosing amenities. I loved the all-you-can-drink alcohol at dinner—it was the best! The pool and beach are available from 1:00 PM on your check-in day, so if you arrive early you can really enjoy them. The beach is rocky, so marine shoes are a must. I regret not bringing any because I thought flip-flops would be enough. Underwater, the footing is slippery with seaweed and algae. The view of Sanshiro Island from our Room and the sunset from the dinner venue were both beautiful.

I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay again.
We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay around the same time this year as well, after staying last year too. Access to the beach is a bit challenging, but it feels very private and was excellent. The pool was also a hit with our grandchildren, and we really enjoyed the delicious meals. There was a brochure in the Room about a kayaking experience, so we tried kayaking for the first time, and it was an amazing experience—thank you. We would love to visit again next year.

An Accommodation you’ll want to stay at again
The welcome drinks and well-stocked amenities bar made me feel happy as soon as I arrived. The view from the Room was wonderful, and I was able to relax at a leisurely pace. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and I was very satisfied. There are also sightseeing spots nearby, so it was great to enjoy them along with my stay. It was a wonderful Accommodation that I would definitely like to use again.

The meals were delicious. The soft-serve ice cream was also very good.

We enjoyed our stay.
My family and I stayed here around late July 2026. ●Staff There were fewer foreign staff, so communication was easier. (They helped me by phone; there was a mistake in the end, but they were polite.) The staff were pleasant. The Facility feels luxurious; it shows its age, but it is clean. ●Lobby In the lobby with an amazing view, there is a family-restaurant-style drink bar, vinegar-based juices and green tea, plus time-limited beer and snacks. (There were mainly snack-type items and mandarin orange jelly. I’d like to see more sweets.) Everyone crowds around it—I did too and had several cups. However, the system of lining up used cups/trash on the tables is messy. Either clean up more often or have guests sort their trash themselves. ●Beach & Pool We came for the beach and pool—the beach was fantastic. The route down to the beach is a steep slope with stairs. The pool is small, but it wasn’t crowded so we enjoyed it. Parasols can be used freely if available. ●Meals There was a wide selection of food and refills were quick, so we enjoyed it. However, the venue is large and huge numbers of people rush in at once, making it very crowded—especially in the narrow aisles. We lined up before opening and got a window-side seat, so we could enjoy the view while choosing food at a relaxed pace. The steak was tough and served in small portions; the turban shell was delicious. ●Room (Poor View) The hallway smelled bad, but the Room itself was spacious and clean. Still, since I had high expectations, I was disappointed that our Room on the 5th floor had a “gravel view”—the worst view! You can only see a little bit of ocean. This is terrible! This should be clearly stated at Reservation time! The door uses an old-style key you insert and turn; the toilet area is small and inconvenient. ●Baths The view is outstanding. If there were fewer plants around the open-air bath area, it might be even easier to enjoy the scenery. The large public bath is spacious and easy to use. The shampoo amenities were just okay. We could send postcards/letters from here, and our child also received sweets from a stamp rally activity—overall we had fun.

The key was difficul...
The key was difficult to use—maybe because it’s old? In the Room, isn’t it normal to have an extra hand towel? When washing hands in the Room, you only have paper towels. If you take a towel to the bath, then there’s no towel left to dry your face after washing. You can’t really dry your face with paper towels. I’ve never experienced having only one towel besides the bath towel. To be honest, the food wasn’t good. The “domestic beef” was overcooked and tasted bad. I was looking forward to the sashimi, but I was surprised by the Mauritanian octopus—tough and unpleasant. I only ate kinmedai among the other sashimi. Some of the small side dishes were decent. I had anago, shellfish, and shrimp sushi; no particular complaints about those, but there was too much rice. The soft-serve ice cream dessert was good. The Shizuoka beer was also good. There wasn’t anything especially memorable or delicious overall. I would have liked a pot of cold water for nighttime. I also would have liked black tea in addition to green tea in the Room, since taking items out from places like the restaurant is not allowed.

June Trip
From the lounge, the sea of West Izu revealed a gentle arc of the earth. In the calm evening of the rainy season, we were able to spend a peaceful moment enjoying both nature’s grandeur and coffee. Please enjoy.

Highly satisfied!
The door locks and other details do show the property’s age, but more importantly it was very clean and all the staff were extremely kind.\nEvery dish was delicious, so we were very satisfied.\nThe abalone was excellent, though the meat selection felt a bit limited; however, the freshly fried shrimp and tempura were wonderfully plump!\nAs we were leaving, we received a heartfelt handmade origami crane charm with wishes for our safe travels.\nWe would definitely love to stay again if we have the chance.

Just as I imagined Ginsuiso would be!
This time, we stayed because we were drawn by the Abalone Festival. We were satisfied to be able to eat as much as we wanted of abalone sushi, abalone tempura, and butter-grilled abalone. As last time, it was an open kitchen, and the sashimi sliced right in front of us was fresh and delicious. The tuna was especially good; when I asked for another serving of tuna, they recommended the lean cut as well and sliced some extra for me. We don’t drink alcohol, but it seemed there was a wide selection available at the alcohol corner. The building was also well cleaned and felt very hygienic, and from our Room we could look down on the magnificent sea. Just one thing: there was some kind of noise that made it very hard to sleep, and I seriously debated whether to contact the front desk. That was the only drawback this time, but we were drawn by the beautiful coastline, delicious food, and Onsen; although it’s a bit far to Dogashima, we would like to stay again.

No deficiencies.
I’d been wanting to visit someday based on Reviews and social media. I’m grateful because in my beloved Nishi-Izu, many places don’t allow children. The buffet was outstanding both dinner and breakfast—on par with a luxury Hotel buffet. The Room is old but clean. The hallways really show their age, and there’s an odor that bothered me, so I think it would be better to place some kind of fragrance there. It’s such a shame. The view from the Room was amazing! The baths switch between men and women, but they’re so similar it feels like déjà vu—once you’ve used one, the other is fine too. They’re built with the same layout and orientation on different floors. The water quality is so unremarkable that it makes you wonder if it’s really an Onsen, but my skin was smooth the next day. Children can use it with no age restriction, but especially on the upper floor the water is hot, so you can’t soak for long. We go in often but leave quickly. I was happy that the massage chairs were popular models like you see at commercial facilities—and free to use. It’s rare to find a place this well-equipped at this price point. Very satisfied! I expected lots of families with kids, but maybe because it was a weekday, there were many groups of men and groups of older women. I was worried when I saw people getting quite drunk on the lounge welcome beer, but overall it’s a Hotel where adults can spend time quietly. I’d like to come again once the pool opens.

The food was delicio...
The food was delicious. The bluefin tuna sushi toppings were thick, and for a buffet it was unusually authentic sushi. The sashimi was also excellent, and I was satisfied. They were running an abalone fair, but we were told it was limited to two pieces per visit, and when I tried to line up again there was a very long queue, so it took a lot of time. Only one person was grilling, so the turnover was slow and it was stressful. Even though it’s advertised as all-you-can-eat, it made me wonder if they were trying to stall for time. For the sashimi as well, we were told we could choose only up to three types per visit and only two slices per type, and that we had to line up again. There was another very long queue there too, so waiting took quite a while. That part was disappointing. Other than that, I was satisfied.

Thank you.
Thank you very much for your hospitality. My wife and I stayed with you for the first time, and we were truly comforted by the warm welcome from all the staff and the wonderful view overlooking Suruga Bay. Unfortunately, due to the weather, we were not able to see the sunset we had hoped for. Instead, we were able to take our time enjoying the ever-changing seascape, which made for a very relaxing experience. The property had a calm atmosphere, and the meals were delicious—my wife was especially pleased. It became a memorable trip to Nishi-Izu for us as a couple. If we have another opportunity, we would love to return and look forward to seeing a beautiful sunset next time. Thank you again.

Guest Review of Dogashima New Ginsui Accommodation
Overall rating: Good. Meals: Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style. The variety and balance of meat, vegetables, fish, drinks, and desserts were great. In particular, the roast beef, sashimi, sushi, and soft-serve ice cream made with Tanna milk made me want to come back again. The bath was spacious and clean, which was very nice. One concern was the building fixtures. I understand this is somewhat unavoidable in a historic Hotel, but at night the noise when opening and closing the door on the way to the restroom stood out. Overall, it left a good impression.

The service is excellent.
The check-in instructions were excellent from the start—thoughtful and detailed in all the right ways. Even the staff cleaning the baths spoke to us with genuine warmth. I think this is a big reason why this Hotel is rated so highly. Of course, the meals were also very good. I was surprised by how delicious the maple croissant at breakfast was. A Hotel that makes you want to come back again.

All your everyday stress will melt away~
Highly recommended for anyone looking to escape the city bustle and enjoy a peaceful stay with ocean views. You can freely try cosmetic samples, and both the Onsen and the meals (especially the seafood) were very satisfying. Dinner time at the buffet while watching the sun set became a wonderful memory. We are also grateful for the kind and thoughtful care from the staff throughout. We would love to stay again.

Perfect!!
Our family of three stayed overnight. From the moment we arrived at the parking lot, we were impressed by the staff’s kind and attentive service. We enjoyed a beer while taking in the breathtaking view from the ocean-view lobby. The views were stunning from our Room, from the bath, and even from the restaurant as we watched the sun set. We also enjoyed a variety of delicious local dishes. Time passed at a relaxed pace, and we were able to truly unwind.

On the second day of our Multiple Night Stay, there was a change in the meals.
I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay. On the second day, I wrote my detailed thoughts in the review for the first day, but focusing only on day two: I was glad that some of the buffet items had changed. With large Hotels like this, many places serve exactly the same menu every day, but here, while the main dishes stayed the same, some of the smaller items were different. So even with a Multiple Night Stay, I didn’t get bored. There were so many options that I couldn’t try everything in just one day. Very satisfied.

High satisfaction at a reasonable price—excellent value for money.
I didn’t use the amenities because I brought my own, but I liked that they were set up buffet-style so you can choose whatever individually packaged items you want. There was a great variety, too. Above all, the buffet was absolutely delicious. In addition to sashimi and sushi, there were fun options like fried bread in the morning, and I was happy to be able to make anmitsu using Izu tokoroten. The sunset over Dogashima is beautiful from both the lounge and the guest rooms. It wasn’t available since it’s winter right now, but there’s also a pool, and even a beach that feels almost private—so I think it would be perfect for families in summer. With all of this at this price, it has to be considered a great deal.

The meals were excellent.
The live kitchen stations lined around the dining area were excellent. I heard an all-you-can-eat abalone campaign will start in April, but even now there was already all-you-can-eat abalone, along with sushi and steak. I was more than satisfied as it was, so I’m very curious to see what the April event will be like.

Perfect for three generations to enjoy together.
We enjoyed drinks and sweets while watching the sun set. After that, we played table tennis and games with our grandchildren before heading to dinner. The sashimi and roast beef were delicious. Everyone ate and drank as much as they liked, then it was time for the Onsen. The open-air bath was spacious and open, with a beautiful starry sky—very relaxing. After the bath, we had ice cream, returned to our Room, and went to sleep. The next morning was also perfectly clear, and the grandchildren were playing table tennis from early on. For breakfast, we were shown to a seat with a great view and enjoyed the buffet while looking out at the sea. After checkout, we went down to Tsubasawa Beach and had fun exploring the tide pools as well. Next time, we’d like to visit during summer vacation when we can use the pool too. We were very satisfied—this is a Hotel that three generations can truly enjoy!

Overall, I enjoyed my stay.
As a long-established Hotel, it inevitably shows its age—there were cracks in the Room sink, peeling wallpaper, and other issues. The front desk mentioned in advance that the Room might be warm and asked us to turn off the heating, but even after turning it off it was still very hot. I really wish something could be done about the air conditioning. The ocean view from the Room was excellent. The meals were great, especially the sushi. Although it is all-inclusive, alcohol was not available in the morning; I don’t drink so it didn’t bother me, but some guests were disappointed. Other hotels allow morning drinks as well. Please consider offering a live omelet station at breakfast.

Disappointing meal
I visited for the first time in over a decade. I remembered it as a luxury Hotel, so I came to coincide with the Kawazu cherry blossoms. The building and interior are well maintained and kept clean, and I heard that dinner has recently changed to a buffet, which raised my expectations for Ginsui’s buffet. However, when I went to the venue at dinner time and saw the food, I was disappointed. Is this really Ginsui’s cuisine? The nigiri sushi was acceptable, but the shrimp in chili sauce lacked texture, the simmered kinmedai (splendid alfonsino) was far below expectations, the salad was just shredded cabbage, and there weren’t even seasonal strawberries among the fruit. It felt no different from a buffet at some chain Hotel. None of these dishes could be called “Izu Ginsui.” I understand ingredient prices have been rising lately, but this was simply too disappointing. This makes me reconsider returning. Is there even an executive chef? The food was far from what you would expect based on the impression upon entering the Hotel. Wouldn’t it be better to look at what well-known buffet Hotels are offering? A trip isn’t enjoyable when meals are like this.

I’m satisfied.
We stayed as a group of five men. The Room was spacious, well-cleaned, and very tidy. Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of food, and we were completely full. On top of that, drinks were all-you-can-drink, so it was excellent. We will stay again.

Wonderful Views and Dining
In the large glass-walled lobby overlooking the sea, you can enjoy complimentary drinks. We were able to admire a wonderful sunset. Dinner and breakfast are served buffet-style, with a wide variety of delicious dishes. Tempura, sushi, rolled omelets, fried bread, rice balls, and more are prepared right in front of you. We felt thoughtful attention to detail throughout our stay and truly enjoyed a comfortable and delightful time.

The sunset sinking into the sea is breathtaking.
The building faces the sea in West Izu, offering a stunning view of the sunset over the ocean (weather permitting). While the building retains a Showa-era feel, it has been renovated and is clean inside. Meals were served buffet-style for both dinner and breakfast. The steak, sushi, and freshly fried skewers at dinner were delicious; other dishes were average. Honestly, I’m not a fan of buffets as they can feel hectic, but during the lively year-end atmosphere, everyone seemed relaxed and enjoyed their meals. The Room was disappointing. Until midnight, there was loud laughter from a woman in the neighboring room; later around 2 AM, loud conversations resumed. Perhaps the walls between rooms are thin? I contacted the front desk about this issue. It might have been bad luck or just inconsiderate neighbors this time around.
- 2.50サコシンサナカイวันที่โพสต์: 5/1/2026
It was a bit disappointing.
The staff could show a bit more hospitality overall. Amenities were available in abundance at the front desk, but there were none in the Room or the large public bath. The hairdryer had weak airflow, making it difficult to dry long hair for children. In the lobby, there was a free-flow drink service, but no food options suitable for children. While beer was included in the free-flow service, there were no other beverages available. It would be great to have more variety. At other Ryokans and Hotels, free-flow alcohol often includes wine or sparkling options, and many places also provide plenty of snacks for children. Additionally, I was surprised to hear that bath towels are limited to two per person and any extras must be purchased. I hope these aspects can be improved.

2026 New Year Travel
Stayed for the New Year after 20 years. While the facility shows signs of aging, such as non-auto-lock room doors, the onsen and cuisine are excellent. Would love to stay again.

Year-End and New Year Travel
The ocean view right in front was truly soothing. This is a very luxurious Hotel, and I think everything about it was perfect. The meals were buffet-style with a wide variety of dishes, and everything I tried was delicious. I was especially surprised that abalone was all-you-can-eat. The sushi tasted as good as that from a high-end sushi restaurant, and all drinks were included in the all-inclusive package. The front desk staff were kind and even gave me an origami crane and souvenirs. I would love to stay here again when I visit Izu!
