    The cleanliness of the Facility and the breakfast are excellent for this price!

    Second stay here. Highly recommended as the best value-for-money Hotel. It's very family-friendly, providing amenities like strollers, diaper bins, and body soap. The Facility has been renovated and is clean, and the breakfast at this price is excellent—delicious! Conveniently located near the station and Lucky Pierrot, with a Seicomart and Hasegawa Store soon opening next to the Hotel. Definitely coming back next time!

    Recommended

    Stayed for 2 nights. The reason I chose this hotel was because of its name, "International Hotel." I have stayed at various accommodations, but... ?????? For the Accommodation Fee, there seem to be many unsatisfactory points. This time, I decided on a traditional hotel without being swayed by popular hotels online. I believe it was the right choice after all. The service, meals, and room were all excellent. I had a very pleasant stay. Thank you very much!

    Mostly satisfied

    This time, we stayed in a triple room in the main building. The view might be better from the west building, but the main building is convenient as you can directly access the top-floor Onsen. On that day, there were five tour groups staying, so the women's Onsen was crowded until late at night. The room was clean, but since the sink is part of a unit bath, it was inconvenient for three people to find space to place their belongings. For meals, we tried teppanyaki on another day. The dishes exceeded expectations with high-quality meat and fresh abalone. The chef who prepared our meal was very pleasant and professional. Additionally, dining at Azalea on the first floor offered generous portions—about 1.5 times larger compared to Tokyo standards. We didn’t have time to try the breakfast buffet this time but look forward to it on our next visit!

    A family of three li...

    A family of three living apart gathered in Hakodate for a trip we had been looking forward to. Although the room felt a bit small as it was a triple use, we were satisfied with the view of Mount Hakodate's summit from the window. The staff at the front desk, cloakroom, restaurant, and shop provided pleasant service. However, I would like to mention two disappointing points. Our family was especially excited about the teppanyaki dinner. The chef who prepared our meal was cheerful and engaging throughout, making for an enjoyable experience. The course menu and flavors were highly satisfying as well. However, regarding the sommelier (I assume), their attitude from the beginning wasn’t very welcoming though I tried not to let it bother me. What surprised me most was when they brought wine already poured into glasses instead of showing us the label before pouring it at our table—this left me thinking "What?" To add to this disappointment, I was told that my initial wine choice was out of stock. As for the onsen experience after enjoying night views—it was extremely crowded and felt like being packed in tightly with others. Before entering the onsen itself, there weren’t any available spots to wash up beforehand which caused delays; when finally entering one bath area floating white particles made me wonder if this could have been avoided? It would be helpful if not only restaurant congestion updates but also real-time information about onsen crowd levels were available. Despite these criticisms overall dining experiences stood out positively! Every dish tasted amazing including teppanyaki dishes alongside unagi hitsumabushi meals enjoyed earlier during stays here followed by delightful Shine Muscat cake sets served within Le Havre café (unfortunately afternoon tea required prior reservations). Bread sold under Montmorency bakery section proved equally delicious too! Artworks displayed across various locations added charm enhancing ambiance further—if aforementioned issues improve satisfaction rating easily reaches five stars prompting return visits someday soon!

    The Room is excellent.

    The room was excellent, and the night view from the bed was beautiful. The breakfast buffet was satisfying, especially the seafood. The shampoo and conditioner in the Onsen were the best I've ever used, leaving my hair smooth. However, when I asked about them during checkout in the morning, the response was a bit disappointing.

    Invest in software.

    Although luggage can be stored before check-in, it seems that placing the luggage in the Room is not provided. There are noticeable investments in hardware throughout the Hotel, but for those who don't use them, prioritizing investment in software would be appreciated. Additionally, the laundry facilities are quite inadequate. A passcode is unnecessarily required, so unless the user retrieves their items personally after completion, others cannot use it. *You can call the front desk for assistance, but it's rather inconvenient. Each laundry cycle takes about 2 hours with only three household drum-type machines available. Drying may not be satisfactory unless it's a very small load. It would be great if serious efforts could also be made to improve these facilities following other hardware upgrades like hair irons. As for breakfast, expectations seem to have been set too high due to various media praises. It made me realize how good breakfasts at other international chain Hotels I've stayed at were by comparison.

    During the Obon season, the breakfast venue was very crowded. The food was delicious, and I wished I could have enjoyed it more leisurely.

    Conveniently located, perfect for Hakodate sightseeing.

    We stayed during the busy season as a family. It was about a 20-minute drive from Hakodate Airport by rental car. There is also a bus stop right in front of the hotel. Check-in was slightly crowded, but announcements about hotel events and complimentary drink service at the top-floor lounge (usually paid) made the wait more pleasant. The check-in staff greeted us with smiles, and when we mentioned wanting to see the night view from Mount Hakodate, they explained that private cars are restricted after 6 PM and provided information on buses and taxis along with printed schedules. The room wasn’t particularly spacious but had enough space for our needs. Although it had a unit bath, we used the large public bath on the top floor instead, so it wasn’t an issue. However, even at 11 PM, the public bath was quite crowded. That said, its spacious changing area and real-time congestion updates for both the bathhouse and breakfast venue via in-room TV were very convenient. A few minutes' walk away is Hakodate’s Red Brick Warehouse tourist spot where we enjoyed exploring before taking a bus from a nearby stop to Mount Hakodate—very comfortable! The return bus ride from Mount Hakodate’s summit to in front of Kokusai Hotel cost ¥700 per adult one way. The souvenir shop offered many sweets alongside a Yamato Transport counter for shipping packages—a very convenient feature! However, when registering as members of their hotel group on-site (to earn points or enjoy benefits like 5% off or limited-time ¥500 vouchers), we found out that using both discounts simultaneously wasn’t allowed despite no prior notice about this restriction. In hindsight, I could have used my ¥500 voucher first before applying other discounts later—but I decided not to dwell on it too much. For breakfast reservations made via QR code that morning around 7 AM—we were able to enter around 9 AM without needing to wait outside unnecessarily; instead spending time browsing souvenirs inside until our turn came up—so no complaints there either! Check-out involved some waiting but only took about five minutes overall. Parking fees were fixed at ¥1,000 per day with unlimited entry/exit privileges—a nice touch!

    About Breakfast

    Breakfast is available as a buffet, offering a wide variety of options and high satisfaction. While some accommodations have recently reduced free soft drink options or made them paid, this accommodation provides a generous selection of complimentary drinks. The seafood, which is a highlight of the breakfast, includes classic items that are frequently replenished, showing careful attention to detail. However, I encountered an issue with salmon containing bones, which might have been an unfortunate coincidence on my part. Additionally, the freshness of the squid sashimi was concerning. While I understand the challenges in terms of cost, it would be appreciated if more consideration could be given to guests who may have enjoyed fresher items during their dinner the previous evening.

    Is the West Wing Facility outdated?

    I booked this Hotel for 2 nights through IKYU, but I stayed in the West Wing. Upon checking in and entering the Room, I found that the bathroom and toilet were outdated, and it was a north-facing Room. The Main Building and East Wing are probably newer, so please consider this when making your Reservation.

    Onsen and breakfast are exceptional!

    Soak in the salty Onsen while enjoying luxurious views of Mount Hakodate, the Red Brick Warehouses, and Mashu Maru. The highly acclaimed breakfast featured a generous serving of salmon roe completely covering the rice. The mapo tofu and sautéed scallops were also delicious, offering flavors beyond traditional Japanese cuisine. Absolutely satisfying!

    Safe and Secure Hotel

    Close to both the station and tourist attractions, I chose this Hotel for its highly anticipated breakfast. The front desk staff were courteous, and the Room was spacious enough to accommodate families with children. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere of the bath area. The space in front of the bath was quiet with a great view, offering a perfect spot to fully appreciate Hakodate's charm. I realized how much I value a quiet environment near the bath during this stay. Both the bath and scenery were stunning, showcasing beautiful views of Mount Hakodate and the sea. This Hotel truly conveys its dedication to welcoming guests while cherishing Hakodate's essence. The breakfast was also exceptional, with delicious salmon roe as a highlight.

    Unfortunately.

    The cleanliness of the Room and large public bath, as well as the satisfaction with dinner and breakfast, were excellent. However, the WiFi signal in the Room was very weak and disconnected multiple times without notice. Even after consulting with the front desk, it could not be resolved, which consumed a lot of data. It was disappointing given how good everything else was.

    A clean Hotel with excellent service

    The staff and the room at the Hotel are excellent. The cleaning is thorough, and the facilities like ReFa showerheads and hairdryers are satisfying. I also used the restaurant at night, and the seafood gratin was very delicious. I didn't notice when making the Reservation, but the exterior resembling Conan's movie set was exciting. One slight downside is that during certain times, likely because many guests visit Mount Hakodate for its night view, the public bath gets quite crowded. I gave up and returned to my room to adjust my timing. While amenities in the room are well-prepared, I found it inconvenient that there was no body towel when taking a bath in my room (though they are available in the public bath). It would be great if this could be added to the amenities list. Additionally, having basic skincare products in the room would make it even better.

    The location was great and very comfortable.

    The Facility feels a bit old, but the Room was spacious, and the staff's service was pleasant, making for a comfortable stay. It is also very conveniently located near Hakodate Station. I had dinner at the Hotel's restaurant, and it was delicious. I've heard great reviews about the breakfast as well, so I look forward to trying it next time.

    Dining at Matsukaze

    We had dinner and breakfast on the second floor at "Matsukaze," and the eel and seafood breakfast, in particular, was exceptionally delicious with generous portions.

    The breakfast was excellent.

    I made the Reservation for the breakfast. The Room had twin beds and a sofa, so I could relax comfortably in the room. The breakfast was as amazing as rumored. Although I planned to have a full-course lunch, I couldn't resist enjoying a seafood bowl with plenty of salmon roe and even Hakodate ramen at the end. I was surprised by the complimentary wine as well. This is a Hotel I would love to stay at again!

    We stayed with our family (including two toddlers) and made requests in advance for children's amenities, a diaper disposal bin, and to have the beds pushed together. The staff kindly accommodated all our requests, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable stay from check-in to check-out. Our room had a great view of Mount Hakodate and the sea! Both the room and the facilities were very clean, with thoughtful touches like ReFa showerheads in the bathroom and Dyson hairdryers—features that women would especially appreciate. Our kids were thrilled with the ice cream service after their bath. At the breakfast buffet, we enjoyed making seafood bowls for two consecutive days; everything was fresh, and the salmon roe was particularly delicious. Among desserts, the Basque cheesecake stood out as rich and absolutely delightful. One minor inconvenience was that I only had new 500-yen coins and new banknotes in my wallet at that time. Unfortunately, neither the coin laundry's change machine nor vending machines accepted them, so I had to go to the lobby for an exchange. Other than that small issue, all hotel staff were kind with warm hospitality. It felt like excellent value for money overall. I would love to stay here again on my next trip to Hakodate—thank you!

    The meals were very delicious, but...

    The meals were all carefully seasoned, offering a professional taste and were extremely delicious! The Onsen was said to have a spectacular night view, which I was looking forward to, but due to condensation, the view was almost completely obscured. What disappointed me the most was the poor attitude of the staff. During meals, even when I called out "excuse me," they pretended not to hear and walked away. It felt like everyone was working reluctantly, and it gave off a strong impression of being served by robots rather than people, which was very disappointing... If this aspect could be improved, I would definitely love to stay again!

    Spacious rooms. Relaxing large public bath on the top floor. A wide variety of delicious breakfast options. Completely satisfied with everything. When I inquired about parking, the response was polite and prompt, and even though I arrived early, the service was exceptional in every way. Truly satisfied with everything. I realized once again that having nothing to complain about is exactly this feeling. I definitely want to stay again! This is such a wonderful hotel. Completely satisfied, thank you!!

    Resort Hotel Overlooking Mount Hakodate and the Open Sea

    I stayed here during my visit to see the cherry blossoms in Hakodate City and Hokuto City. The room I stayed in was located in the West Wing. While the interior felt a bit dated, I was able to enjoy stunning views of Mount Hakodate and Hakodate Bay from the 6th floor, and the spaciousness of the room provided a very relaxing experience. I wish I could have had a multiple night stay. Although it took some time to reach the onsen large public bath on the top floor of the Main Building, it featured spacious bathtubs, plenty of washing areas, and an open atmosphere. For breakfast at Matsumae in the East Wing, I enjoyed unagi hitsumabushi and seafood hitsumabushi without any waiting time, allowing for a leisurely meal. The cost performance is excellent, and I would love to stay here again when visiting Hakodate!

    Hakodate Breakfast Battle

    The breakfast competition at Hakodate's three accommodations, as seen on TV. One of them also has a location in Tokyo where I have stayed before, so I chose the traditional accommodation. There was a long line for seafood early in the morning. I started with the regular buffet first. Some areas were slightly inconvenient to navigate due to dead ends between seating and lines. Since I couldn't eat much seafood, the dishes felt average overall. The bath was comfortable as I used it during less crowded hours, and the room was quiet and pleasant to stay in. However, the humidity smell from the bathroom in the room bothered me slightly.

    Hakodate: Renowned for its luxurious breakfast

    Stayed for a multiple night stay. The breakfast buffet allows you to freely take seafood and create your own seafood bowl. Other highlights included beef shabu-shabu and award-winning mapo tofu. Non-guests can also enjoy the buffet for 3,500 yen, so Sunday mornings can be a bit crowded, with about a 20-minute wait. Overall, I believe it was worth the price.

    It was excellent!

    This was my first visit since the renovation. I had seen the breakfast scenes on TV and always wanted to visit and try it myself. Since this was a family trip to Hakodate after a long time, we prioritized food and chose this place. We were extremely satisfied. I would definitely like to stay here again. The consideration shown by the restaurant staff was also excellent! Thank you for creating such wonderful memories for us.

    How can I request a room on the Hakodate Mountain side?

    Staying in Hakodate with a view of the mountains is very important. This time, I requested a mountain-side room, but without any mention at the front desk, I was assigned a room on the opposite side. While it’s possible that mountain-side rooms were fully booked, it would be appreciated if this could be communicated. Some other hotels allow you to know whether your room is mountain-side or not during the reservation process (e.g., Century Marina and La Vista include such details), so it would be great if this could be considered. Alternatively, adding a note stating "Mountain-side or opposite side requests cannot be accommodated" might also work as an option. Whether or not there is a view of the mountains from the room (especially when requested) significantly impacts one’s impression of Hakodate, so we hope this can be taken into consideration.
