    A little more.

The meals were average. I would have liked cold items to be served cold and hot items to be served hot. Some staff were very attentive, but there was a big gap compared with others who did not provide proper service. I would appreciate more staff training.

I stayed for one night with my high school–aged daughter. The convenient access from Hakone-Yumoto was the deciding factor in choosing this Hotel. We stayed in a twin Room in the Rainbow Tower. The Room isn’t very large, but it was more than satisfactory. Dinner was Japanese cuisine, and breakfast was a buffet. My daughter seemed to prefer the buffet. I was very satisfied with both! There were two outdoor baths and one indoor bath. I would definitely like to visit again.

    The Onsen was amazing!

The French dinner was very delicious, but unfortunately there wasn’t anything at the breakfast buffet that stood out as particularly tasty. It was appreciated that fresh towels were available each time at the Onsen, but it was inconvenient that there were no hair ties or shower caps. The Onsen was excellent, and while the Room was compact, it felt clean and well maintained.

    Impressed by the hospitality

It was my first stay in eight years. As with other Fujiya Hotel properties, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Dinner was French cuisine, and the pan-seared abalone was excellent. The French restaurant had a calm atmosphere. Breakfast is buffet-style, but it felt a bit noisy. I also noticed that the breakfast venue is somewhat small. With reasonable rates, I think it’s a good base for sightseeing in Hakone.

Just a 2–3 minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto, with lush Hakone forest greenery visible from the Room window, a spacious Onsen, and a delicious breakfast buffet—overall, it was excellent value. As it is a large Hotel, you shouldn’t expect special personalized service. (I tried to make a bookmark in front of reception but couldn’t choose the string color and gave up.) The meals were outstanding—worthy of the Fujiya Hotel.

It was just as comfortable as always.

I stay here almost every year. Part of the lobby floor has been renovated and now features a dark-brown themed space. It gives a great impression as well, but personally I also liked the pre-renovation atmosphere that felt like a long-established Hotel. The souvenir shop has been downsized, and it seems the number of items for sale has decreased, which was a little disappointing. I hope you will bring back the zodiac “Okiagari Koboshi” dolls for sale again. (Buying that year’s zodiac doll here was one of my annual highlights.) As always, the staff were wonderful—efficient and consistently attentive—and I truly wish staff at other Hotel brands would learn from their professionalism. This time I stayed in the Rainbow Wing. With large windows letting in plenty of light, the room was very bright, and the evening view of Hakone-Yumoto Station from the window was beautiful. The Onsen felt like proof that Yumoto Fujiya Hotel remains an authentic Onsen Ryokan, and I was able to relax deeply. I hope the outdoor corridor leading to the Onsen will return as part of the main route again, like it was a few years ago. The day’s humidity in Yumoto and the sound of insects coming from among the trees make it feel like a truly special corridor. The post-bath lounge was very comfortable (including air conditioning), and I ended up staying there for quite a while. It might be convenient to have a change machine near the paid massage chairs. Once again, everything—from check-in until leaving this Accommodation—was extremely comfortable.

    That was scary… really scary…!

I didn’t expect a large Room, of course, but there was only one small window… a huge mirror next to the bed… the smell of cigarettes still lingered… and then, at 1:00 a.m.… From now on, I’ve decided never to choose a Room solely based on price just because it’s only for sleeping.

Please note: the large public bath requires extra caution.

My parents had errands in Odawara, and instead of staying at a Business Hotel there, I made a Reservation here so they could enjoy an Onsen for just a little extra cost. It’s close to the station, and I think it’s a reasonably priced place to stay within Hakone. From what my parents said, it felt about right for the price, and they were happy with the service from the front desk and café staff. However, they said a foreign guest brought a smartphone into the large public bath and was taking photos, so I think some measures should be taken to prevent this.

    I had a relaxing stay.

Unfortunately, the rooms felt dated, and I could hear noises such as the toilet from the neighboring room, but everything was well maintained. At dinner, during the Chinese meal, I was disappointed that there were no paper napkins on the table. The meat was tough, which was a problem. Otherwise, I felt that the front desk and other staff provided solid service.

    See you again.

Due to inbound tourism, there were many international guests, and a group was quite lively. As an elderly couple traveling as two, we felt it was a bit noisy at times. Still, we would like to stay again, so if we have the opportunity, we look forward to visiting again.

A safe, reliable service and a comfortable stay.

With Mother’s Day coming up, I invited my mother. We stayed here last year as well. Some parts of the Facility and amenities are a bit dated, but the reliable service and the food were satisfying no matter what we ate, so I made a Reservation again this time. We relaxed in the Onsen, and for dinner we had the Special Kaiseki course. The plum wine with soda that we ordered separately was so delicious my mother asked for another. With an 11:00 check-out, we were able to take it easy the next day too.

    A long-established Hotel

We stayed for one night as a couple. The location was very good, close to the station. We could also hear the sound of the river from our Room and relax. The service was very good. However, when I opened the tabletop humidifier in the Room to use it, I was shocked to find it covered in black mold. Isn’t this checked during cleaning? The air conditioner was also covered in dust, which made me feel that cleaning was not thorough. There were many overseas guests, and some seemed to take over areas such as the large public bath, which made us feel uncomfortable. The front desk mentioned that there were group guests, so I think Japanese etiquette should be explained at check-in. As part of the Fujiya Group we had high expectations, so this was a bit disappointing.

    We made wonderful memories.

It was great to have a place close to the station and reassuring, especially since we had elderly guests with us. My companion also said the front desk staff were very pleasant and that they would like to stay again. The Hotel is older, but it has been renovated, and we were able to spend our time comfortably in a spacious room. We chose the sushi kaiseki dinner, and everyone was satisfied and said it was delicious. We were also happy they had local sake. I thought it would be nice if disposable slippers were available.

    It’s okay.

What I liked The Japanese-Western Room B was spacious and clean. The Japanese dinner was delicately seasoned and delicious. They also handled allergies perfectly. Very close to the station. What I didn’t like I was surprised that the in-Room tea was powdered green tea, especially for a luxury Hotel. The large public bath changing area wasn’t well cleaned or organized. (When I went in after dinner, towels were scattered around and there was trash on the floor.) At Hotels in Arima that I use often, I always see cleaning staff and it stays clean even when crowded, but at this Hotel I used the bath three times and never saw anyone even near the entrance. At dinner, the waitress (seemed like a part-time worker) spilled beer when pouring it, and cleared away a drink I still intended to have. It was taken before I could say anything. The food itself was good, so this was disappointing—staff training should be improved. I went to breakfast a bit late, but even when the bread ran out it wasn’t refilled for quite a while. The fruit sauce and fruit were also empty—unclear whether anyone noticed or not. I expected a luxury Hotel, so overall it felt underwhelming. That said, since Hakone-Yumoto is busy anyway—and because the Room was clean—I decided it was acceptable overall.

A Hotel You Can Feel at Ease In

My parents stayed here. Thank you for kindly upgrading their Room. They were impressed by the spacious Room, and above all, they really enjoyed the view of the station from the Room. Although it is a large Hotel, they said the atmosphere throughout the building during their stay was calm and relaxing, and they were able to unwind.

    The hospitality was excellent.

The staff at both the front desk and the restaurant were very pleasant. Perhaps because it was a Friday, the Accommodation Fee was reasonable, and I really enjoyed the carefully prepared Japanese kaiseki-style dinner. For breakfast, I felt the dining area was a bit small. Since dinner was so good, my expectations were higher, and I found the Japanese breakfast menu slightly lacking. Still, it was a great Accommodation.

    We had a relaxing stay.

I stayed here for the first time in about 10 years. I had originally made a Reservation for French cuisine, but unfortunately the winter menu didn’t suit my taste, so I changed it to the izakaya. I ordered the steak set meal. Although it was lean meat, it was nicely seared and cooked perfectly. With the vegetables on the side as well, it felt like enjoying teppanyaki-style steak, and I was very satisfied. As it’s an izakaya, I was worried it might be noisy, but everyone was dining quietly. I stayed on a day when there were news reports that Hakone had water outages due to snow, but there was no impact inside the Hotel and I had a comfortable stay. The staff were also very pleasant, and I’d like to visit again.

I used this for a trip with friends.

We stayed in a triple Room with three people, including a friend. The customer service was excellent. We are grateful for the kind assistance with requests such as changes to meal options beforehand and storing our luggage before and after check-in. The location is simply perfect! It’s an easy walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station via uncrowded paths. With luggage storage available before and after check-in, it’s ideal for sightseeing in Hakone. The meals were delicious; however, the omelets and miso soup at the breakfast buffet were unfortunately cold. It would have been great if they were served warmer or freshly made, so I’m giving 4 stars.

    It was enjoyable.

Dinner was a brought-in bento box, but breakfast was also satisfying. Karaoke added to the fun. The location is very convenient, being close to the station and great for sightseeing. I would love to visit again!

We stayed as a couple. There was a clear handprint on the frame between the Japanese-style room and the Western-style room. It disappeared after wiping it strongly with a wet towel, but it was very scary. We noticed it a little while after entering the room, so we did not request to change rooms. Could it have been a handprint from the cleaning staff? When I went to look at souvenirs in the shop, even though there were customers including myself, 2-3 staff members just glanced at us and said "Welcome" briefly before continuing their private conversations (loud enough for us to hear). It was quite surprising. Overall, this is a proper accommodation with good access, so I would like to use it again in the future. However, I pointed out these concerns hoping for improvement. Since it's a large accommodation, managing every detail of employees' work might be difficult, but I hope these issues will be addressed by my next visit. Despite writing various things here, we were allowed to use the parking lot even before check-in time and had an otherwise comfortable stay. Thank you very much!

    Insufficient cleaning

I stayed with my daughter at the end of the year. The room was the only barrier-free room in the hotel equipped with a private Onsen bath. Although neither my daughter nor I have disabilities or require care, we chose this room because it was spacious and reasonably priced, and no other rooms were available. We used the Onsen bath in the morning, but it seemed rarely used as the entrance door and frame were very dirty, with noticeable mold. While at first glance, the room appeared tidy and clean, dust had accumulated in its corners. Being a year-end stay, it was a fairly expensive hotel; however, there were no particularly stylish amenities provided. The only loungewear available was yukata—there weren’t any two-piece relaxing outfits either. Although ice water was prepared in a pot, I would have preferred one complimentary bottle of mineral water instead. Breakfast consisted of a buffet that wasn’t particularly abundant in variety. The buffet area itself is relatively small and feels quite cramped when guests overlap during busy times. Many staff members appeared to be from overseas but seemed very well-trained and professional overall. The short stretch of road leading to the hotel elevator after crossing Ajisai Bridge had uneven pavement that made moving suitcases difficult—it might be better to repave this area for smoother access.

Shocked by the decline in the quality of Chinese cuisine.

I used to stay at the accommodation approximately every two months to enjoy the special Chinese dinner (Peach Blossom Course) at Tohka-ro. The elegant flavors and beautifully presented dishes were truly exceptional. However, this time, I was shocked by the significant decline in quality. Everything, including the number of dishes and seasoning, seemed downgraded to the point where I had to double-check if it was mistakenly served as the regular Peony Course instead of the special one. The number of appetizers decreased from five to three; the soup contained such a small amount of shark fin that it was barely noticeable; the hot pot lacked ingredients and had an overpowering spiciness; and plain white rice replaced what used to be fried rice or stir-fried noodles. Moreover, I discovered that while each meal previously cost 14,000 yen per person, it has now increased to 15,000 yen—a surprising change. Given recent economic conditions, some price increase is understandable. I also heard that there has been a change in chefs recently; however, this issue seems beyond just a matter of culinary skill. Unfortunately, while Japanese cuisine, French cuisine, and sushi here all seem unworthy of their prices in my opinion—Chinese cuisine was my only solace—but now even that is disappointing. I sincerely hope this was just a one-time failure with their menu choices on this occasion.
